On the day of the install, the tech calls and said "I dont have the parts, they didn't tell me I needed them." Ok, very frustrating, but I rescheduled AND called back to CONFIRM that they knew what vehicle they were replacing. They said yes, all set. Then, on the morning of the second appointment, the tech called me and said, "Okay, so it will be $651." Yes, almost THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS more. I called the office and the guy said, "well, it's an FJ Cruiser and it needs special parts." Well no kidding, you knew that from the beginning! What an absolute joke and waste of my time. When everything was done, I noticed my keys/keychain was very dirty. The mechanic had no regard with the handling of my keys/keychain. My keychain was in good condition prior to drop off and I couldn't clean the grease stains off. Customer service overall could be better. The attention did not feel warm or welcoming.

He sold and installed a new $100 plus dollar rear axle with full pop labor charges, (and a used chrome castle nut) by knowingly installing the axle dry and tight without any assembly lube whatsoever an axle that was machined so tight in the wheel and adjusters that it had to be cut back out of the frame before this bike had EVER even been started much less after a flat tire in the middle of nowhere after having actually being driven. I've been a rider, owner, enthusiast wrench since 1965 and never have I ever had to cut a brand new axle axle out of a bike. But wait, there's more... He replaced the trans bearings and resealed the transmission that I carried in that literally then fell out of the frame when I came back and then picked it up to trailer it (instead of paying his guy to trailer it instead) scratching the brand new chrome transmission end cover that I had to replace, all because he never even took the time bolt it in to frame with at least one ten cent nut for safety and yet said nothing about the trans not being secured to my freshly powder coated frame. Then in some rant he even threatened to call Bel Art, the powder coating company I used to powder coat my parts out of pocket with my cash money for my bike to complain about the prices that I payed saying he would put a stop to the public getting powder coating at that price. Which he must have done because Bel Art no longer accepts carry in work. This guy brags about how he alone can only do sheriff department work because nobody else can do what he does that the taxpayers afford to begin with. Doesn't give written estimates prior to repair then does what he wants, or doesn't want, doesn't call for prior authorization or provide timely cost estimates after you leave then hands you a budget busting heavy handed bill instead and then jumps bad at the counter and threatens to keep and lien sale the bike if he doesn't get what he demands when you're handed his bill for your signature after the fact. I ordered, bought and paid for a new axle elsewhere and made two trips to get one after cutting it out of the frame myself and reinstalling another new axle. I replaced the damaged new chrome transmission side cover and replaced that myself too, a transmission by the way that he did not put oil into either, and said nothing.l about it being dry without lubricants. I ordered and payed for the grommets and made two trips to Bergen and removed and replaced the chrome fasteners that should have been installed with the grommets instead of just the fasteners he sold that scratches the powder coated surfaces. I then ordered and bought the OEM factory transmission fasteners he did not have or would you not install nor said anything about as a part of the transmission reseal that he charged parts and labor for including new end bearing after charging over one thousand dollars payment for in cash. These examples weren't a bad day at the shop, these were deliberate by a guy who knows exactly what he's doing and did it anyway. He's covertly and overtly hostile and guilty of highly predatory business practices and gives a bad rep on the indie shops in general with the motoring public and for his part he alone is responsible for the downturn in the local market place for labor and parts rates because of his business ethos and chop shop practice, techniques, and mentality.

In this rare case, the guys Jahqui & Mario from Pep boys deserves the honorable mention. Ran through a huge nail which destroyed my tire at 6:45pm. After making several calls to nearby shops, i decided to go to Pep boys to see if they could repair or replace the tire. Keep in mind it was few minutes before their closing time. I went into the shop, clearly distressed and explained what has happened and have them analyze the possible solutions. Those that have been in my similar position know the feeling of helplessness and desperation. Jahqui, probably the most down to earth person evaluated the dire situation and presented the unfortunate news. The nail was huge and placement of the nail annihilated my tire and could not be easily patched. They also didn't have the tire in stock and were unable to find other vendors with my tire size. However, Jahqui's assuring demeanor analyzed all possible solutions - most which required a tire delivery the next day which was unacceptable for my circumstances. Eventually, as the last resort, Mario (the tire guy) worked his magic and temporarily patched my awful tire just enough to get me home 30 miles away. All of this occurred far past their closing time and they didnt ask for a single cent. I had to offer them a tip for their hard work on OVERTIME. They could've easily shot me away, stating they're closing and unable to help. Without Jahqui and Mario, i would've probably had to call a tow truck or be left stranded. Their dedication to their service and customers are unmatched. They've just won a lifelong customer and would recommend everyone to them. If you're serviced by Jahqui or Mario, you're in good hands. I hope they both get a promotion or raise because they deserve it.

Last time I mentioned it seems to coincide when I use my windshield washer. They again said it was a drain and changed the washer pump. Well today I used my washer, drove two blocks and the misfire happened again. This time on the 2nd cylinder! They never checked or changed any of the hoses leading to the new pump! I call them up and basically get "duuuuhhh" from whatever Pygmy they have answered the phone that can't understand clear English!

Got an expensive bill for a transmission and had family and old coworkers all telling me to steer clear of of the shop now since it was changed and that I would regret it, but I went through with it anyways. This resulted in a series of being givens false times, being told I would be kept up to date on the progress only to never be in the loop at all, and the final result being poor work done on the vehicle for an exuberant cost. The delays would have been fine if they stopped promising so much as I only went with them because they said it would be done by a certain point and almost cost my partner and I our jobs as we kept giving out new estimated return times to our workplaces and using up what little vacation time we had to just consistently be told to wait longer and longer. Even more work than a transmission was needed in the end and I was not charged, but it was still nonetheless another delay that took another day from us and while not charged for this fix, it was done poorly and I am at my preferred mechanic finally getting it done correctly. The final result after the days of frustration and excuses given out was a car that finally let us go home, albeit now three times as loud and still showing issues from before that I paid for them to fix that I am now paying another person to fix. I should have trusted all my coworkers next door to the shop and family members when they said to not go here, and will be steering clear like the others from now on.
