Saved a ton of money. I went to AAP to try to avoid the outrageous labor costs of installing a new battery at the dealer. The AAP clerk came out and looked at the battery and said "I can save you some money." THe clerk pointed out that the battery was dated in 2020 and has an 87 month warranty. Recently we had some cold weather in Denver and it murdered my car battery - boo :( A neighbor reminded me a lot of places will check your battery and she said they usually recharge it, too. So, I called the closest place to ask, and Advance Auto Parts confirmed that they'd be able to take the battery out, charge it, and then run a diagnostic test to see if it was still good. He warned me on the phone it could be a wait due to the weather and a lot of vehicles coming in with battery issues. When I arrived, I was definitely not alone! There were a bunch of hoods popped. Feeling all the pain. I was helped pretty quickly, however, and only needed to wait for the recharging process -- around 30-40 minutes-ish. So, I just walked around there are plenty of businesses around, so stopped at a Walgreens to waste some time and before I knew it, it was time to head back. Sadly, the diagnostics didn't result in my favor and I had to get a new car battery. But, at least I don't have to worry it might give out again in the near future!! It was the same guy who took my battery out, ran the test, put it back in. He was very calm, polite, and patient. I felt like I wanted to get him a little something for all of his assistance regardless of how my battery life situation turned out, so I stopped at Illegal Pete's for a gift card to buy him lunch. I don't remember his name (I should be better at that) but my receipt says Aaron on it, he was great. I was glad to spend a few extra bucks to buy him lunch as an unexpected thank you to someone who was great to deal with and did their job well. Below is a problem that had me very upset with this company. The district manager called me today and rectified the situation immediately. I could not be happier with their handling of the issue. I will continue to buy from Advance Auto, given today's incident. The District Manager stood by me. I wanted to set the record straight and could not figure out how to delete my complaint. Will NEVER SHOP THIS COMPANY AGAIN! My sister purchased a starter. She didn't need it. She had stage IV cancer and died. After she died we found she had not returned it. We produced the receipt and was told it was past their 45-day return period and manager would not return it. Called corporate and manager lied to them, telling them it was not new. Lying $#@%^&!. Made an online order during covid because i wanted curbside pickup so I didn't have to go into the store. The prices were very fair, there was an online coupon for 25% off, and it was easy. When we arrived we called and they brought our order right out. The order was accurate and the guy help me load the items into my car. Only reason I'm docking two stars is that the person who brought my order out wasn't wearing a mask and even though we were outside he got pretty far into my car where the rest of my family was sitting. I needed to replace my engine and cabin filter in my 2016 Ford Transit Connect. I purchased both filters from a girl named Shayla. I knew the air filter was rectangular in shape, but she insisted that it was the cylinder type filter because that's what my vehicle called for on her computer. I didn't install them immediately because I had other things going on that needed to be handled. A couple of weeks later I found time to do it and discovered I did need the rectangular filter and the cylinder filter didn't go anywhere in my vehicle. I couldn't find anywhere it went. I Googled and YouTube everything I could find to see how this filter went in my car and came to the conclusion it was the wrong one. I went back to the store on W. Meighan to exchange it for the right one, and told the guy behind the counter (Seth) what had happened. He said it was the right one according to his computer. He then proceeded to tell me how he had to fire the girl (which I thought was totally unprofessional) that sold me the filters, so I assumed he was the manager. Then I asked him if he could show me where it was supposed to go, and he immediately got an attitude with me, and rudely said, he didn't know anything about air filters, so I asked him to come out to my car and look at it. I showed him where the rectangular shape filter was and he seemed somewhat frustrated but we went back in to his computer and he was able to find one that kind of matched up with the one that I took out. I asked him if it would be okay for me to see if it fit, he seemed hesitant but said okay, so I did. It was the only one they had that matched up so I placed it in and it was a fit, so I put the cover back over it and locked it into place. When I came back into the store to pay the difference on the return he informed me that I wasn't allowed to install something that wasn't paid for in a very rude tone. I apologized and said all my stuff is sitting here on the counter I wasn't gonna leave and planned to pay whatever the difference was ($1.80) because I live in the country and it was a long drive for me to have to come back. I told him we must have got off on the wrong foot and I apologized because he still seemed frustrated. When I came back in the store I had sat the old filter on the counter and some debris fell out and I apologized again for the small amount of debris that got on the counter. The whole time he was mumbling, something under his breath, and his attitude and demeanor had changed more towards me. I wiped the dust off the counter and he replied with "Yeah just knock that off onto my clean floor". This was such a petty comment coming from what I assumed was the store manager and unprofessional to say the least. Because, you know I could have walked in there with dirt, mud, or anything else on my shoes that would get the floor dirty and it didn't set right with me because he was just being rude again. I immediately said you can give me a refund on the cabin filter now (which was probably the right one but I didn't care to do anymore business with them), but I paid the difference on the one that fit since it worked and I had already installed it. I will never go to this location or any advance auto part store again because this young kid didn't know how to treat customers. I will tell everyone I know not to use them because people like this make their whole business look bad. I called another store and talked to a manager named Hope. She was very kind and apologetic about the way I was treated and told me she was sorry on behalf of Advance auto parts. She told me she would contact the District Manager (Amy) and she would call me back but I never received a call from her. I saw another review from two weeks ago on google where someone had said the manager had an attitude. I learned that this new manager had only been there for about a month, so I could safely assume this was the same guy. I left and went next door to O'Reilly auto parts and purchased another cabin filter and the guys there treated me with great respect and kindness. The guy even showed me how it went it and made sure I was happy. So, for anyone that reads this just know that the manager at this location is rude and didn't have any knowledge of the parts I needed, and probably lacks knowledge of other parts as well. Don't waste your time at Advance, just go right next door to the guys at O'Reilly auto parts and they will take care of you and treat you with respect. read more

With COVID, Ryan came out quickly and safely to help and ran 2 sets of tests on my car. He was just filling in from another store, was clearly short-handed but he was kind, quick, and professional. More than that they saved me more than $100. (I have paid $100-129 for the same service.) And I didn't have to deal with the dealership and their service shenanigans. I can't recommend advanced Auto parts. I just had a nightmare experience. I ordered online last night. It suggested one more product at the checkout I said okay. Then it says sorry out of stock remove item I removed the item. It was a order to pick up. After the order was completed I see that removed item for $6 is being shipped to me for $10 shipping. I call customer service first thing in the morning as soon as they opened. They said sorry nothing I can do. It's 43 degrees and raining. I hit a curb at the wrong angle and it rips the protective guard for my undercarriage causing it to drag under my car. I'm just getting off work so I'm in slacks, dress shoes, and a button down (not my ideal clothes for fixing my car in the rain). I limp my car into the Advance Auto Parts parking lot and go in looking for a temporary solution. I tell the two guys working what happened and they suggest zip ties. One of the guys immediately grabs his rain coat, finds the zips ties in the store, then heads outside. He then gets down on his knees in the wet parking lot for ten minutes and proceeds to zip tie the dragging piece to my bumper. His name was Francisco. I was a guy buying $7 zip ties. The rebuilt alternators they sell for Ford vehicles do not communicate with the PCM and cause large swings in voltage output with low voltage most of the time. The failure of the alternator to communicate with the PCM will cause the battery light on the dash display to stay on continuously. I had two fail in 6 months. Replace with a Ford factory new unit and everything works great. Blue Springs Ford in MO sells factory new Ford parts sometimes cheaper than Advance Auto/Carquest rebuilt junk. Advance Auto refuses to refund my money. It will be the last dime they get from me. read more

Numerous times have I tried to conduct business with Advance Auto Parts to no avail. Left on the phone numerous times, disconnected. As visiting Advance a few times to make purchases, I found those working there had limited knowledge and did not honor warranty claims. In contacting management several times, they agreed with me and stated, "They should have taken the product back". The aforesaid is a small part of Advance as we see this business declining at a rapid rate. Advance is more interested in finding ways to deceive people with their alleged discounts whereby there really is no discount. Many parts are not even in house where one has to place an order and then Advance tacks on a substantial shipping fee. Went to purchase a battery for my 2014 Acura MDX today at their Jackson Heights Queens NY location, and was met by Jackie. Worst customer service personel I've ever encountered. In addition to a horrible attitude she is incompetent to do her job. This is what happened today. I went in to purchase a DieHard Red battery which is one of the recommended battery for my truck, and I have pervious purchased this same battery for the same year and model for my wife's truck two years ago. When I asked to purchase this battery she said that I should buy an AGM battery (DieHard Gold or Platinum). I told her that I've purchased this battery before. She rolled her eyes at me and said this battery does NOT have enough CCA (cold crank amps). I explained that the Gold amd Platinum had the same 550CCA. She argued that I am wrong. When she looked and found that it's the same on her computer, she changed to the face that the CCA is different. I told her it's what I want to buy. She then rolled her eyes again and said she will put a line on the invoice explaining that she told me that battery is not recommended and that they will not refund for any reason. I explained that wasn't true because if you look under my make and model, the DieHard Red is one of the recommended batteries. (Gold is $129 more and Platinum is nearly $200 more and for that price I can get the battery at the dealership) I asked her if someone can test the battery first. She seemed very annoyed and said she has to do it and to meet her outside. When I met up with her, I already had the hood lifted and the cap on the battery nodes removed for her convenience. She still seem annoyed and tell me, where are the nodes, I cant see them. After I pointed them out, she tells me the cover was in the way. After I held the node cover, she figited as if it was very hard to get the clamps on and as if she didn't want to get her hands dirty. I then helped her put the clamps on. She did the test and tells me that they will not put the battery in that has a battery cover. I told her I can remove it in the parking lot if she can lend me a flat screw driver. She rolled eyes again and told me she doesn't have tools to lend me. And for me to go home and come back when the cover is removed I have wasted 20 minutes of driving and another 40 minutes with Jackie. Watching here with all her melodramatic eye-rolling and attitude. I ended up bringing my truck to the dealership. Will NEVER go back there again and definitely not recommend anyone else to go there for service. read more

A dead car battery left me stranded at work and he was so kind to deliver the battery to me along with installing it for me because I have NO CLUE how to do it myself. Sure, get stuck on the road with your whole family in the car...sounds like a plan. I immediately went to O'reillys and had it tested on an Autometer testing device and surprise, IT WAS BAD! I will drive 2 extra miles just to avoid Advance. I must give the clerk credit though...even though he was quite smug, he wasn't rude or aggressive. About a week later i attempted to put on new front brakes on a very cold day.I have 30 years experience. I noticed they gave me a rotor that was to large, so i brought it back. This store said i would have to have a receipt or order number? Ahh why cant advance look it up? Some how in this technological age if you order something online the store doesn't know shit? These guys took the time to properly run a full diagnostic on my Optima Redtop battery I've had troubles with since purchasing it on 2/2016, unlike the county line Advance location who did have of the test then told me my battery was fine and sent me on my way.
