To my dismay, I learned they hadn't even begun to inspect my vehicle. The response I received was disheartening; it felt dismissive when they suggested I would have to cover costs that should have been addressed by them so soon after my purchase. I expected at least a simple courtesy of checking my car and providing updates instead of making me chase after them for information. After speaking with four different people and experiencing confusion over who was responsible for costs, the used car department finally offered to split the cost of a diagnostic. They promised to pick up my car the following Monday, but nearly a week has passed without any follow-up or scheduling communication. The lack of respect and communication throughout this process has been incredibly frustrating. One service representative, Todd, was particularly dismissive, treating my concerns as if I were overreacting and implying that I was simply making up issues. This is not how a new customer should be treated. Having only purchased my vehicle three weeks ago and already facing such a distressing service experience--despite having bought an extended warranty--I feel abandoned. The fact that I can't get a simple diagnostic covered after spending tens of thousands of dollars is truly unacceptable. Now, I am forced to spend $200 to have it serviced elsewhere. It was a blown engine (rod, cylinder, bearing, who knows the cause at this point). Spoke with the owner Charles who was fantastic and filled with integrity. The mechanic Gareth replaced the engine and had the car back in a week (there were other issues as a result of shrapnel shooting out of the block). 600 miles on the 76k used engine and so far no issues. Mr. Hoover (Charles) also let me know, and I trust him, if there's an issue he will make it right. I did consult a couple of other mechanics and they said that the work was being done at a very reasonable price (one said it was cheaper than he could do, especially the price of the engine). Most people need to realize cars a crap shoot. Quality integrity and workmanship is a skill though.

I always like to support local business but will never take a car here again. I was given different prices, the owner attempted to charge me multiple times for the same services, including towing. Even upon completion he stated I could have the car towed home. After well over $2,000 in repairs I refuse to have to tow a car that should be working properly when it leave the repair shop. I do not wish to go back and forward with the owner via social media but have all my receipts, including all estimates from the Hoover & Sons that I am more than happy to post if there is any denial by the owner. This post is to give potential customers all the information so they can make their own informed decision before doing business with Charles "Chuck". I have not lived in Michigan in over 10 years but my mom does and I was hoping to still be able to support local business for the care of her 1959 Ford Fairlane. Again, this is not to go back and forward with Chuck. I paid every dime you charged me and am not happy with your service that's all. You have questionable business ethics, poor customer relations and inflate your costs once you get the customer.
