Why we have stuck with them for these two years is beyond me. WHEN the system works it is great but the cameras don't always show or record people or vehicles in the viewing zone. I spent 2 hours and 4 minutes online and on the phone with them trying to fix this problem and they never did find a solution short of charging me to send someone out in person to look at it. ADT is the worst monitoring service imaginable. I had their system installed for over $3,300.00 and it has never worked since, and have no security for 2 months. The are constantly delaying the return of my money. They are in total breach of my contract! Don't try to call for an emergency!. Horrible ! The technicians came to my house and I inquired about motion detectors, I asked the pricing & the technician lied . The motion detectors on the windows came out to $1000 more . I am in the process of telling them to come pick these back up , and it has only been 2 days since I have had the system . Nobody at the customer care office seems to care . I'm a military veteran that has just bought his first home. My home was burglarized right before getting my system installed so I've been scared about living without protection. So when it comes to ADT having the "unhackable system/cameras" it's nice to know that my camera has been going blank with missing time slots multiple times since my home was secured by them. Each time I call in it's a different type of answering AI that will start trying to redirect my call or someone who stumbles on ANY AND ALL questions asked about why "we've never been hacked before." The way this company conducts business is fraudulent, we were almost ripped off by them paying $20+ monthly than we were agreed to. We were promised free equipment but were asked to pay $4000+ in equipment. Technicians came in and went ahead to drill holes on my wall and started to ask for more money. Now we are left with many holes on our wall and waiting to be fixed by them. If there is a negative start rating for them, I would give them negative, very bad experience. Run! read more

My daughter also had ADT and had issues from the start . There is no customer service locally, at least. Only a recorded message and no return call. When she tried to call to get a bill straight, they would never answer or return her call . Finally she just canceled through the main ADT office . After having the most incompetent installer set up my alarm, he put a hole next to the outlet and promised to return to fix it . I have called and complained several times but still nothing ! This company is an absolute disaster. My first appointment was scheduled 8-9 AM. I just moved and have so much to do these days getting settled in my new house. This works out nicely, I can be done by noon and run all my errands in the afternoon. At 9:40, I assume the tech got lost or something. I call to find out that no one is coming. They scheduled someone who was off that day. They reschedule me to the afternoon. My whole day is taken up by the initial installation. I'm annoyed but I let it go. Strike 1. After *some* upgrades, not even including a motion sensor, since the installation price got so high that I was cutting corners, I have to pay over $2000 for installation. That's with the $850 off that was advertised. It's worth it if it's the best, right? That evening I see one of the window sensors sitting on the dresser in my bedroom. I pull it apart and it chirps. The app tells me this is the sensor for the master bedroom...which already has a sensor on it. I open that window and it says living room window, I open living room window and it's for a different bedroom. This continues until I get to the last bedroom, which has no sensor on it at all. If that was the first mistake, that would have been ok. But now I wasted a whole day for this, and will still need another appointment where I have to be home to wait and hope they show up. 3 appointments when it should have been 1. Strike 2. Since both of these things happen, and so much time is wasted, I think I should get a discount or something. I'm not the type to try to get free stuff, but this is a huge inconvenience, especially since I didn't even shop around and I'm supposed to be getting the best service from a trusted brand. I'm pretty annoyed at this point, and didn't want to call to tell them I want money, so my plan is to ask if they can just come uninstall this and rip up my contract, and see what they say. I called Saturday evening, office closed. I go to the website to send a message, no way to do that, only contact forms where I wait for a call back. The only way to leave a message is through Facebook. I sent a message explaining the above complaints and asking if they could just cancel my contract. I get a voice mail Monday evening, then return the call on Tuesday morning. The person handling the complaint explained how to cancel my contract. I have to print something out, sign it, and fax it. She asked if I have any further questions and told me to enjoy my day. I was waiting for an offer, any offer, so I could say yes and feel like I've won. I was thinking $200 would be fair, that's $100 for the missed appointment and $100 for the botched appointment. No such offer came. She did not care that I was leaving and made no attempt to keep me as a customer. Strike 3. I then printed the paperwork, drove to Office Depot, paid a couple dollars to fax it, got back in my car, called a different company, and set up installation for the following day. I also got a much better deal. Several hours pass. NOW, FINALLY, a manager calls to try to offer me a discount to stay. They don't care when you complain or when they repeatedly screw up. They only call after they get the fax stating your cancellation. I explain why I want to cancel and he offers me much more than I would have taken earlier in the day. Way too late. They should have cared sooner. For some reason, ADT couldn't install the keypad at the garage door entrance, so they cut a hole in my wall at the front door. The new company wanted to put it at the garage door, where I want it as well, but now it's permanently at the front door to cover up the big hole. I also have holes where their smoke and carbon detectors were. The carbon detector even left an oversized hole for some reason. The ADT guy suggested spackle or toothpaste to cover them. Shouldn't THEY fix that? I know I authorized them to install, but I didn't just decide that I don't want an alarm, I decided I don't want them because they're so awful. I'm not even sure if I'd be writing this review if they offered to fix the damage they caused. Every step of the way is a mess. They won't go the extra mile or even do what is expected when you're paying them, good luck getting them to fix their mess when you cancel. So what did I get for calling ADT (Protect Your Home)? Days of wasted time. Headache of having to deal with their incompetence. Lost a few bucks sending the fax. And last but not least, multiple holes in the wall of my brand new house. I hope they use my phone calls in their training classes as examples of what not to do. I plan on keeping my alarm permanently, so they lost a customer for the next 40 years or so. To anyone reading this, I won't even make a recommendation on who to use. I will only say to choose ANYONE BUT ADT! I would not use ADT if it was free. This company is a complete joke. read more

They don't tell you the whole truth about the video clips. I was told that the video clips would drop off or delete as the cloud filled up. This is NOT true!! You only have a monthly volume of video clips, then your cameras stop activation recording. The installation of 6 cameras 5 or so smoke detectors and 4 door contacts took 3 techs 7-8 hours. They spent a lot of time chatting. We had to ask them to get back to work. We had to loan them our ladders and tools. They didn't leave my house until after 8PM!!! I'm not going to go into the mess they left. I'm still waiting on my new yard signs and window stickers. It's been almost 3 weeks. I've been a adt customer for years. I'm going local. Very disappointed! I've been a customer since ADT purchased Brinks. My wife and I did recently decide that it was time to upgrade our security system. She called ADT for a quote to add key pads and cameras. She was told that the upgrade would cost approximately $1000 and the monthly service would go up to approximately $47; all of which was perfectly acceptable. She asked them to send her a quote and was told that if she would agree to the upgrade right then, it would cost $500 but they couldn't send that in writing. She actually didn't receive any confirmation. I called today and explained to the rep that I was interested in an upgrade (and told the story of my wife's encounter) and that I was fine with pricing but required a written quote before I would authorize the change. I explained explicitly that if this was an issue, to save us both time and tell me that you couldn't help me ; I'd look elsewhere. More than thirty minutes later the telephone representative was still explaining to me that their quote was part of their contract and that they could only send that with their installer after I had agreed to the changes, (without ever actually reading any terms of the agreement). I suppose I'll find another provider. If this is how they conduct business, I must wonder how safe I really am with them! read more

I am infuriated! I no longer live in the home so have absolutely no need for their service. I am stuck in a three year contract. They did not offer anything what...so...ever. ADT has no respect for customers or the service they provide to their customers. I have given up on having a proper working system and I patiently awaiting for my 3 year contract to end in order to find another alarm company. The first issue began when a friend referred me to ADT and they refused to give her the promised referral fee after I began my service with them. She was given such the runaround we both gave up on her receiving her $50 credit to her bill. I wish I would have researched more before signing with ADT but I was in need of a Security system with a camera due to the high crime rate and vandalism in my area and know my friend would receive at $50 credit seemed like an awesome deal. I purchased all the equipment needed to have the Pulse system and enjoyed services for at least 6 to 8 months. A storm occurred, electricity went out and so did my Pulse system. I called technicians out, they could not fix the problem, charged me a $25 for the visit to my home, and told me it was not their system, it was my internet provider, Cox, whom I had been with before ADT and when I began service with ADT. I struggled with customer service accusing me of lies, because I would scheduled tech visits and the problems still could not be even though my credit card was being drafted every month for my Pulse service. Finally, I decided to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau which didn't help too much. A manager actually called me, and offered to stop charging for Pulse and gave me $50 credit. I later decided to call again because I was aggravated not being able to receive the service I signed up for in the beginning and I was not able to use all the equipment I paid for. I was scheduled for another tech visit and promised I would not be charged a $25 fee after explaining my current situation. The tech visit was a no call no show. I was livid, I called ADT and asked to be let out of my contract because I could not use the Pulse service I signed up for in the beginning. The manager was very off putting, ignore the fact no one showed up for the visit and then stated we can't let you out of the contract but we can schedule another tech visit. He never acknowledged the no call no show and arrogantly scheduled another appointment. I then tried again to file another complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the manager replied to my complaint accusing me of lying saying I never scheduled an appointment for repairs, then stated I was made only inquiries regarding new equipment. I have never been so disappointed with any type of service and I would like to warn all searching for an alarm company to use any company except ADT or you will suffer as I am, paying for a security service I did not sign up for, expensive equipment I can't use, and a provider unwilling to apologize for my trouble, refusing to figure out the problem, and also questioning my character. I am patiently waiting until July 2018, in order to leave ADT and find an alarm company who can provide the service I desire and give me respect as a paying customer.
