Worst company I have ever dealt with. I originally had Westminster but ADT bought them. Someone in my family changed the alarm code accidentally and could not remember what it was. Called ADT for help. The guy who answered was nice but apparently had no idea what he was doing. Wasted an hour on the phone, was told this could not be done over the phone so they would send a technician and I would be charged 165 bucks. I figured what the hell, it's my fault anyway. They never actually scheduled the technician to come so I had to call them again. When the guy finally showed up I told him what the problem was. The technician immediately told me ADT was wasting his and my time because this could have been fixed over the phone. He then proceeded to call customer service, asked them to remotely connect to my system and retrieve the code. Problem fixed. He suggested I call ADT to dispute the $165 charge. Things then got even worse. Called ADT a few times, and on each of them I was redirected multiple times, sometimes given phone numbers of companies that told me they had no affiliation with ADT and did not know what I was talking about. A couple of times I was told the installation manager would call me back, which never happened. Finally, after 5 tries over a few days and an aggregated several hours on the phone I did get through to someone who did not redirect me to someone else. I explained my problem for the 100th time and they basically told me that the report from the installer said he had reprogrammed my system and that this was what the charge was for. In short, they suggested that what I (a customer for over 5 years with no record of complaints) was saying was a lie because that is not what the technician's reports said. But, they said, "we can give you a 100 dollar COURTESY credit". At that point I was convinced This was not a company I wanted to deal with ever again, so I told them to close my account, that I no longer wanted to be their customer. The rep sounded HAPPY when she heard that and proceeded to close my account in less than a minute. I cant believe I had been paying this company for years to handle my home's security. I would agree with every zero rating. Terrible office. They don't return phone calls. Scott Sunderland will "book your appointment" but won't tell the tech what you need so you end up wasting an entire morning waiting for the tech to come. Only when he gets there, he says "oh, I didn't know you needed a monitor so I can't help you. since I don't have on eon my truck.." Don't bother even calling. If you are stuck with ADT like I am (house already wired) , then call the main number and bypass this office. read more

i have been extremely disappointed with ADT's service; false promise on what will be covered and installed, poor show-up on the day of, disconnected manager who was completely - i mean completely - unresponsive. they also took my $...$1000 for installation. we cancelled on the day of, due to the poor promise. they said they are processing refund and it has taken over 30 days now. Fortunately i have a dispute claim started w my credit card i used for the payment. the sales rep is good. he texted me that he himself will follow up, but i guess the company is so not customer-centric that it is unable to keep up promises. read more

our alarm system has been broken for two months!!! first the alarm warning went off and we got no response from the (emergency "are you ok" center). hmmm??? just like it was never hooked up the the call center in the first place. curious. then the alarm box itself broke. we have had three, yes three (3) technicians out in two months to tells us, "yep, the box is broke, how did this happen?" suposedly a new box was ordered by the first tech, then the second tech, but today, on the third visit,,, well you already know. i asked all three techs for contact by a supervisor, but with no success. i called myself this afternoon and left a message but still have not heard anything. i think that it's possible that adt is commiting fraud and leading people into a false sense of security by charging you for a service that doesn't really exist! thank you mike read more

Worst company I have ever experienced. I just filed the following report to the Better Business Bureau and am in the process of filing a lawsuit specifically against the Pleasanton branch office. In September, 2012 I signed a contract stating that ADT would install a home security system. I was told it would take a week or two for someone to come out. 4 weeks later, someone came to the house and said that all of the equipment ordered and contract was incorrect and we would need to wait an additional period of several weeks for a re-order and reschedule. (We were paying for a system throughout this time when we did not have one that worked effectively). When the technician's arrived we agreed to base the system on cellular services on the condition that they would ensure cellular signal was strong enough. On 11/5 1:01 PM we received the following email alarm. BURGLARY ALARM. Proceed with caution. Sensor: Front Motion (Zone 23). When we reached out to ADT to inquire as to why the police were not called and why we were not notified via phone call as promised they said they never received the signal (citing that it was our fault for having poor cellular coverage). We specifically stated that if the cellular coverage was not strong enough, we would be happy to run the system through Comcast Voice-Over IP or install a land-line, both of which we were told were un-necessary. After many frustrating phone calls, we reached back out to our sales representative of the Pleasanton, CA office located at 4511 Willow Road, Suite 8 and explained that our system still does not and has not worked properly. He scheduled us for a service appointment 11/7, the technician did not show up. When I inquired why the appointment was not kept I was told that someone (at ADT) had cancelled the appointment without notifying me. I reached back out to Edwin to request another appointment and was rescheduled for today 11/12/12 12-5pm. At 4 pm, we were told that the last technician was now ill and we would have to reschedule again for several weeks from now. In 2 months of paying for this system it has never worked, we signed a 2 year contract that specifically is dependent upon the system working and protecting our family by alerting authorities in the instance of alarms going off- both of which have not happened. When we requested a cancellation of policy citing that the system does not and has not worked, we were denied. We were told the only way to cancel would be to pay 2 full years of service. read more

ADT Defenders (800) 689-9552 - Marisol-#12819 facility mgr Tony I phoned ADT Defenders (800) 689-9552 on 2/25/2016. A untrained person answered the line. While I was inquiring about an install date and what was going to be installed, Marisol-#12819 decided to speak over what I was saying to tell me that was impossible. I have a signed contract saying what I just tried to her. She was very impatient and kept speaking over me (I am the customer) this was the first time to speak to me so I do not know why within the first few minutes of the call she thought to tell the customer as if I was lying to her that I was wrong with an implied note of stupidity directed towards me. As she kept talking over me the madder I got. I have had 2 strokes and do not need to be pushed by Marisol-#12819. When I get very upset I start slurring my words and running them together. When I asked for her manager she said something like she was hanging up on me. Marisol-#12819 did hang up on me. All I wanted to know is when an install was going to be. This call lasted 5 minutes. I called back, and as my luck Marisol-#12819 answered the call again. I trained professional customer service representatives as a living until my first stroke. I am now retired, but I still expect large companies like ADT to hire and train professionals to work with their clients. We had been an ADT customer for 10 years, I went with another company for about a month. Then decided that ADT had always been professional and we chose to go back to ADT. If this is how ADT is now treating their clients, I will find a new Alarm Company. On the 2nd call with Marisol-#12819. I did not want to deal with her and I said I am the lady you just hung up on, I want to speak with your manager. She kept up her flippant attitude and after about 5 more minutes she started saying that I was not on the account and she was again like a bully started saying she was going to hang up on me. Marisol-#12819 said she wanted to speak to my husband (Of 48 years of marriage) like I was a child and Marisol-#12819 was the principal. I told her to look on our previous account and showed both our names. She said she could not do that. The first instal tech was able to pull up our previous account and used my credit card that was still on file and ran it for almost $460.00 for the install even though I had a coupon for the pulse system for $49.99. My husband was mowing the lawn (we have a large lawn and he was all the way down at the end.) He already was aggravated at having to stop the lawn mower at the end of our property and walk up to here Marisol-#12819 to ask if his wife was approved. It was still on speaker phone and I heard her try to stutter out something but my husband said speak to my wife. At this point and after keeping me on hold for another 5 minutes, she put the manager of the facility Tony on the phone. I explained what all I had been through and asked him to pull the 2 recordings to see how Marisol-#12819 treated customers. I explained the reason for my phone call to ADT, and the installation of my remaining system. He said he would reach out to the manager and the tech and get back with me. It is now the next day pm, and still have not heard back from the manager of the facility Tony. I called back another young gentleman answered the phone. He said he was putting me on hold to read what was going on in my account. He came back on the phone and said Tony had not gotten a hold of the field manager and according to this young man said Tony said he will get back with me next week. I asked the csr when next week and Tony was very near because the csr asked Tony without a raised voice and heard someone in the background say Monday or Tuesday. Considering the install was 9 days ago and now to wait another 4 days to hear back from the manager of the facility Tony does not seem right. Today is 2-26-2016 at 3:45. I would never recommend their service to anyone. We had ADT for 6 years and the one time it was needed, we realized what a crappy service this is. All is well when you don't have an issue. when you do, you see how well they react. We had left home early in the morning and after 15 minutes, we we got a call from ADT and we could not pick up the phone right away since I was driving but within minutes we checked the voicemail that said "Please call back if there is a need" and we were wondering how they expect us to call back if we are in trouble.We turned back home immediately to check the situation. In the meantime ADT had reached the emergency contact provided by us who was also on vacation. However, she tried to call back ADT and was on hold for over 15 minutes. At that point, she used good judgement and called the local police to investigate if all is OK at our house and had them call her back to let her know. ADT did NOTHING. Also when we drove back home after hearing the message from ADT about the alarm going off, we saw the cops and they confirmed that they had a call from our emergency contact because of which they had come to check. After the situation was resolved, we called back ADT to check what they did if anything when the alarm was set off and they claimed that their logs did not indicate any evidence of our emergency contact calling ADT and at that point I just asked ADT to cancel my services since I know that our emergency contact is extremely reliable and has come through at many difficult situations for us. The ADT representative continued to pursue us to remain as a customer for over half an hour and I had to be really firm to ask him to cancel the service right away. There are a LOT of other security systems out there which are cheaper and offer better service. I cancelled my service on the same day of the incident. I have NO TRUST in them whatsoever read more

My husband and I were new homeowners and really wanted a security system installed in our home. We had a sales person come out to the house. We presented a coupon we had received in the mail for a promotion offer. The offer was for a free device and installation. However we were told by the representative that we would be receiving sensors on all of the doors and windows. We allowed the rep to begin installations. After he completed his work he informed my husband we would be charged $1500. After weeks spent speaking with various customer service representatives (none of which were helpful) we were told we would be received a $900 refund. 4 weeks later we received a $300 refund. After months of calling again, and speaking with several "managers" we were told that for various reasons we would only receive a total refund of $700. My husband called to ask that the system be wired to our phone line (rather than wifi) and asked to have the additional sensors that in the end were not "free" removed. We were told by the person scheduling our appointment that the same representative would not be coming back to the house (as he had misled us the first time). When it came time for our appointment, the initial representative was who showed up at our door. He asked my husband why we had given him a bad review after his first visit and said he had gotten in trouble with his manager. He then proceeded to drill a hole in our newly refinished hardwood floor as he told my husband how angry he was. The hole was not in the correct spot and he had to drill another. Again, we spent months on the phone with various customer service representatives. We went them a quote to have our floors refinished for the second time. We were told we would be receiving a check from their insurance company within 30 days. Well those 30 days came and went and when we called to check on the status of the check we were told that after questioning the representative, he had told them that he never drilled that hole and our claim was denied. This company is absolutely awful. The customer service is abysmal. We have spent a total of over 200 hours on the phone with various ADT representatives trying to get our issues resolved. I have asked to cancel our services and was told it would be a fee in excess of $500 to do so. Absolutely terrible. I have several complaints filed with the BBB as well. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

I have been an ADT customer for 18 years. I upgraded to their Pulse system two weeks ago. Since the install, my keypads have been issuing a high pitched sound for no reason and it happens randomly throughout the day. I was given another 5 hour window of time for an appointment for a new tech come out. He said the problem was simple and he "fixed it" within 20 minutes. He left and I thought it was fixed, nope, within 2 hours of his leaving the sound happened again. I called today, spoke to tech support, he told me to do a few things, which we did together on the phone. I left to go to the store and came home to the same sound. Called ADT again, escalated the problem (finally got one person, who was nice and tried to help, thanks Shannon). They told me they had to schedule me for to have yet another tech come out and the soonest they could come was a week from today! The sound happens in the middle of the night too and wakes me up. The only way to turn it off is to enter my passcode into the system. This sound has nothing to do with the alarm going off. I had to sign a new 2 year commitment for this! If this next tech cannot fix it, goodbye ADT, contract or not. This is ridiculous and I am not exaggerating any of this. I am going on all social media, to make sure everyone is aware of their customer service. read more

Their customer service sucks. I've called because of a few different billing issues, and no one ever seens to have the correct information. I contacted when my credit card information needed updated for automatic withdrawal, and was told that once the information on the website was up to date my card payment would go through, and my account would be up to date. I fixed the card information and forgot about it until i received a bill in the mail saying my account was past due. I called and the customer service lafy said that bill didn't reflect the payment that was pending and that everything was fine. This was in June or July? Now, many months later, i had called on Nov 4th, to make sure that if i manually made a payment online that it would count towards the current payment due, and would not still automatically withdrawal for the month. I was told that yes, it would count, and that the payment would not be withdrawn automatically.. and yet, it was. So i called customer service today to find out why..And was informed that my online payment had only covered the past due amount I'd earlier been told was not really there, and therefore the auto withdrawal covered what was currently due. I really wish I'd not signed up for ADT and had instead went with a company that had people who knew what they were doing. read more

I've been stuck on the phone for over 30 minutes now. I have no money to pay for security any longer. I was planning on reactivating later on when I get financially settled. I won't now, no one will help me cancel and I have talked to three people. Having to answer the same humiliating questions, and telling everyone I cant afford ADT any longer. I STILL have not been able to cancel my service and my only option now seems to be not paying my bill any longer. What's the deal with this lack of customer service? I'm tired of this and I'm never reactivating. If you ever think about using ADT look at all their horrible service ratings. I have their ADT pulse video system. It goes down repeatedly their cameras infrared keeps going out so you have to schedule appointments with their often contractor staff. Just in last year to present each time I needed service they sent somebody who could not fix a camera schedule another guy to come out and then four times nobody showed up. This company is right down there with Comcast so customer go elsewhere these guys will bleed you dry for costs then leave you bare with no service even when you pay for a service contract. do not use them read more

ADT's customer service has been mind-bogglingly bad. They have repeatedly mixed up our address with my brother-in-law's address in another state: same last name, but different first initial and name. Both households have spent literally HOURS on the phone trying to straighten this out, listening to ADT's irritatingly repetitive hold music and failing to find anyone who can do anything about what should be a relatively simple issue. We hear lots of assurances that they will do something about it, but little actual action. Each of us have been repeatedly billed for the other's service. If you have a contract with them, SAVE YOUR PROOF OF PAYMENT, because you will probably need it, as they have not only billed us for the other household's security, but also kept inaccurate records of the payments made. We have tried to terminate the contract, but of course they say that we have to pay out the full three years. Today we received a statement that increases our monthly charges for unknown/unagreed to reasons, plus it re-charges us for months of payments we have already made. Luckily, we have saved proof of payment, but as their customer service is so unresponsive, I doubt that will help. It also appears that they claim to have extended our contract -- their basis for this claim is unknown. It is hard to know how to tackle this -- file a declaratory judgment action?? Because they are apparently impervious to customer service inquiries, and I am worried about false information in our credit reports. Sigh. read more

I have had an ADTalarm system for 6 years. I just recently found out my alarm is not even hooked up. They charged me to come out and rehook me up, and refused to refund the money I have been sending them for six years now. This company lied to me from the beginning. They told us once we paid the initial $500+ we would be able to cancel at anytime and had 6 months to get a refund if we were not happy with their system. First we were told they didnt do wired systems anymore, then when we had problems in the first week we were told they would come out for a hefty fee ($149). called three more times with the same problem and others we were told the same each time. When I finally got fed up and told them to cancel the whole thing they gave me another number to call and that person told me I couldnt get a refund or cancel without giving them a chance to remedy the problem. I gave them three chances to offer a remedy and they chose not to provide it I told them to pick up their system. Now they are harassing me with phone calls and letters and want to charge me early cancelation fees. What kind of company does this to its customers A LOUSY ONE! read more

STOP!!!! Run away from the company quick, fast and in a hurry!!!! First of all I called and made an appointment for a Saturday morning at 9am my day off, waited and waited finally left to run errands. The rep calls me hours later and says "Did I blow my appointment with you?" I said yes you did I said I would call and reschedule, he said I'm so sorry I can come at 4:30pm today if you still want to meet? So like a dummy I said okay. He came, after calling to say he would be late he said he got lost. I have to say he was a good salesman, no pushy stuff trying to get me to upgrade but the $35.00 a month does not exist and you have to pay for the city permit in addition to their fee. After he left I got to thinking about a 2 year commitment and decided to read reviews on Yelp, wow, must always do this first. Called Tuesday to cancel, within the 72 hour window they said no problem will do. Called back next day just to confirm as the money was already debited from my checking account, they said a refund would be issued for all the money I paid. Checked my bank account today 7/25/12 over a week later no refund. Called ADT on hold forever, transferred to the corporate office who said I was set to get $35.00 back I said what about the other money? They said did you call to cancel? I said yes, why else would I have a $35.00 refund coming? She could tell I was getting upset so she said she would put in for the other money today, I got her name and wrote it down. So this is the story of ADT, I say don't use them!! One star for the rep who finally made it out to my house. read more

I was promised free equipment for my entire home but was then charged $150 for all the equipment. Was also promised a gift card but the retracted the offer to cover equipment. Installment took 6 hours and my walls now have additional drilled holes that are exposed and were not covered up. Customer service is horrible, very rude. read more

The product was good, but the service was terrible. We signed up for ADT through EVO Alarm (which mysteriously went out of business after we got it. weird.), and were assured by their "local" representative, Brian Tims, that we would not be under contract. He gave me an agreement to sign, stating that it was just saying that we agreed to keep their sign in front of our house as a marketing house in order to receive free equipment and discounted service. I tried to read the paper, and he wouldn't stop interrupting me. I saw the word contract, and said "No, I don't want to be under contract. You can take the equipment back and leave." He assured me that they just were referring to the agreement of keeping the ADT sign in our yard for the duration of our service. I went ahead and signed and never received a copy of the "agreement". They installed the equipment and put us on autopay. The service was good and we didn't have any problems, but when I started going to school, we didn't have a lot of money, so we decided to buy our own security system and monitor it ourselves. That would reduce our monthly bills and then we could still have peace of mind. I called to cancel our ADT service and they informed me that we were under contract and it would be $600 to leave. I told them what happened and they transferred me to a few different people, each time having me repeat myself. I was on the phone a very long time. The last customer service rep I talked to, said that she would document everything in case I needed to pursue legal action. She was very helpful and I have nothing against her, she was just doing her job. I submitted a complaint to the BBB and ADT responded by halving the cancellation fee. Since I couldn't prove what happened to me, that was the best I could get. I sold some of my belongings to pay the fee, and was happy to be rid of them. Then this month, they kept taking money out of my account (bear in mind that I am now a poor college student. Think: Ramen), and they overdrew my account. I called them and told them what happened, and they assured me that they would stop future withdrawals and that they would refund my money. A week went by and I didn't see a refund in my account, so I called them again and asked them what the issue was. They told me that it would be 15 business days before my money was returned. Meanwhile I'm skipping meals because someone at ADT failed to do their job. Just don't buy from them. Buy your own security system. It will pay for itself in six months. read more

They were aware my system was not functioning for over a year, and did not let me know. When I discovered this, they would not refund me any money, unless I signed a new contract. Then they required a 30 day notice to cancel and then did not update the account to reflect that. How fraudulent can you get???? read more

This security service is the most expensive and gives terrible service. My alarm went off and they did call my cell phone to check on me but would not help me turn it off unless I could provide my password and my emergency contacts. Idiots - they called me. They must know who I am! While the alarm continues to scream loudly I gave them my password which they said was wrong. They disallowed it that morning and made me change it. They asked me about my contact people and their numbers which I had to try to research on the cell phone I was using to answer their call. I could not see any evidence of a break -in but the alarm did go off when I was using my copy machine which has some wifi and phone connection to a land line. Maybe the ADT system is connected to that land line which I never use. They advise you to test the system weekly but their website does not give any directions about how to test. There are less expensive alarm systems out there, which I will switch to. The only good thing they have is a phone app which I can use to arm and disarm, I did that and solved the alarm problem myself. read more

I contacted this company on Friday 4/18/14 regarding getting services set up immediately. I was prepared to purchase on Friday, and was told that I would need to have a consultation with an installer. This was understood. So I was told that I would need to make the appointment, which I did. My appointment was set for 4/18/14 at 6:00 p.m. I was told that the installer would call before he comes. I did receive the call from the installer, I don't remember his name but his number was (229) 343-6464. He asked if he could reschedule because he wanted to leave for the weekend due to Easter. I explained that I would really like to get the system installed so I wanted to go ahead and get the consultation done so I could proceed. He asked if he could come by sooner, I agreed. I explained to him that my husband would be there, and he could call me when he is on his way there so I could make sure my husband was at home. He said ok. He did call back around 10 a.m. to inquire about what I wanted. I told him, and he tried to a consultation with me over the phone, and I requested to know when he would be coming for the in home consultation. He again told me that he would call on his way through Pelham, GA. I did not hear from him again, until I called him at 6:50 p.m. to see if he was still coming. He told me that he would be coming as soon as he could get out of Albany GA. He said that he would call me as soon as he leaves. I said ok. As of today 4/20/2014 10:37 a.m. I have yet to hear from your consultant. I was very disappointed by this service, and to know that my time was not valuable enough to be considered is appalling. My husband stayed home to wait for the consultant for 4 hours, I waited for almost 2 hrs. At 8:00 p.m. on 4/18/14, I contacted another company for service. I will be sure to spread the word about this service, to 'warn' people. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! BBB has no longer endorsed your services because of such misconduct, I would hope that in the future it would matter to you enough for you to make changes immediately. I purchased an alarm system more than 6 months ago with the promise that I would be receiving a 150 dollar gift card. I've tried countless times trying to get in touch with the company, but haven't had anyone return voice messages or phone calls. I feel that if ADT wants to keep up their reputation, they should take care matters like these. As for now I will not recommend ADT to anyone until this matter is settled. The company seems to try to lure you in with the gift card, but can not come through with it. I am a 60 year old female living alone. Last night I was in bed when a motion sensor in my furnished, walkout basement went off. The ADT monitoring representative called, as expected, but refused to call the police. He said a bug or a rat could have set off the sensor. Nobody should have to lock themselves into a room and call the police themselves, because a security monitor refuses to call the police even after he is disconnected. I don't know whether he hung up on me or not. I know he didn't call the police. read more

Simply put. Don't use ADT, run the other direction. Nothing about them is quality, not the system which is done by sub-contractors. ADT only monitors. Their customer service doesn't exist. No one in the company is responsible for anything. Their motto is, "that's not my job, I'll have to transfer you to someone who can help you." Very poor customer service. Called for the first time to switch my existing service to ADT, I am glad I didn't. No wonder they are losing customers and going out of business. First agent got all the information for maybe 10 min and transferred me to another agent to give me prices and promotions they have and sign me up. Next agent who is supposed to be supervisor said prices are different in different area, and can't give me anything till they come to the house. I gave zip code and I said I need the basic security system, no additional monitoring or service or equipment. He said no, very rude and disrespectful; every house gets a different rate which is strange. So their add for 27.99 a month on their site is misleading and only to deceive you. Waste of time, never recommend. Go with spectrum. read more

I too would give ZERO if I could. The initial set up was horrible and I should have known. They quoted a price to get in, and then explained how little of my home would be protected unless I upgraded. My system never worked, and when you call the company for service, rather than sending a technician, they had me call yet another number to make an appointment that, in may case was 2 weeks out for a technician to show. I finally cancelled since I wasn't being monitored anyway (due to my cell booster interfering with the alarm communicating with the station and my need for a cell booster in my area). Cancellation was horrific! They charge you cancellation fees, require 30 days notice and on and on. Long story short, I received my third call today saying I owed more money. I told them I did not, I cancelled, paid the amount owing (cancellation fee etc.) TWICE just to get rid of them but I'd pay again just to stop being harassed. You can imagine that I wasn't kind or well mannered in my tone. The woman put me on hold, came back, and said, "I see you don't owe any money." Really???? I inquired about getting a system with cameras. Went through a whole 30 minute detail about what it would come with, the price, etc. Scheduled a technician to come between 5-6pm. No one ever showed up. I called the number provided and was told "oh they cancelled the appointment because 6 years ago the service was cancelled by your parent" wtf??? So you cancel an appointment without even reaching out to me? After reading the other reviews I'm glad I didn't become a customer. Now I see why my parents left them. read more

BE AWARE----I've been an ADT customer for over 10 yrs. I just up graded to the pulse systems with wireless cameras. This system has a major flaw. My car was vandalized in my driveway. When I went to show the video to the police. I learned that the camera only records for 30 seconds....then TAKE 4 MINUTES TO RESET BEFORE IT RECORDS AGAIN..... so all I had was the back of someones head. They left that info about the 4 MINUTE DELAY...out of the sales pitch. Very disappointed. Terrible service! Customer service have no idea about any policies! 3 different reps will tell you 3 different stories. When you cancel, they will continue to take money out of your account, as the require automatic debit. They will steal money out of your account after you have cancelled and then refuse to refund your money! I cancelled in June, and here we are in August. My service was shut off as per my request, bill was paid in full in June, but yet they have continued to take payments out of my account! When I called, I only get argumentative billing specialists who all have a completely different story as to why I keep getting charged and was promised a refund but have gotten none...This time when I called, they of course had no record of my calling and promise of a refund. Then when I asked for an itemized statement since the start of service, they refused. Stated they have no such statements for any more than a year. I have had service for 4 years and have totally gotten ripped off and money stolen out of my bank account, even when they were told to NOT use the account and only send paper statements. They are a bunch of lying cheating thieves. Huge scam! Do yourself a favor..just go out and buy a fake security sign for your yard and stickers for your windows...you will save yourself a ton of headaches and save yourself from getting robbed by these A-holes! read more

This company is an actual nightmare. We've used them for a long time and have had so many issues. The most recent has been that our alarm either sounds randomly and for no reason or just stops working but chimes continuously. The first time this happened, we called the customer service number and they suggested that we power down the system and be without an alarm for four days. What? You sell security and then advise me to be without said security for four days? So we waited the amount of days to have someone come out to fix the issue, but when the technician arrived we were promptly told that he didn't have the parts to fix our problem and that it would be another week until he could get them. Great, another week that I'm paying for a service I'm not receiving, not to mention the fact that my house is not alarmed all that time. The guy comes out again and again he somehow hasn't been told what parts to bring and cannot complete the job. To spare you the details, this happened three more times and in the end they had to replace the motherboard. Cut to tonight after the new motherboard has been put in for four days and our alarm starts chiming again for no reason. The control pads won't work and we can't get it to stop making noise. We call the service number only to be told that we have to figure out how to power down the system (how is the my job?) or else we have to pay $375 to have an after hours technician come make the chiming stop. WHAT A SCAM. They put in a faulty system and I'm supposed to pay to have them fix it. Wow. Not only do we have to pay for it and sit here with the alarm going off, but we are told it will probably be TWO HOURS before we even hear from them about what time they will get here. Ps it's 11 pm so that means the technician will maybe be here sometime in the middle of the night. I'm done. DONE. Moving on to another company. Don't get involved with these people. I have had a terrible experience with ADT. I have been a customer on auto-pay for close to 5 years, and I am ready to cancel my contract. Here's why: multiple false alarms due to faulty equipment (which meant 100s of dollars of fees paid to the local police department), unprofessional technicians who are non-ADT employees but subcontractors, and poor customer service. It's gotten to the point where I don't even use the system because I have ZERO confidence in it. I don't want to rush back from work, only to find another false alarm, or worse, be awakened in the middle of the night with the alarm ringing for NO reason, which is terrifying. Two weeks ago I called to cancel and was sweet- talked into extending at a slightly lower rate, and with the promise that all the equipment would be changed. A technician came out (after first not having the equipment) and changed the sensors, and within two days, I had another false alarm. Now ADT won't respond to my written requests for termination. Don't waste your money, find an alternative company. There are lots of better options. read more

Beware of signing contracts with ADT. I have just learned that after 25 months of service with ADT I still owe for 75% of remaining contract (of 3 years) even though I am moving out of state. There is no other option other than to keep paying the monthly fee or pay off contract. I will NEVER have ADT again, nor will any of my family or anyone I know. This should be illegal. Set appointment for 9 - 9:30 for system install. Called sales rep at 10, she called back at 11 and said techs would arrive any minute. At noon, first 2 techs arrived, didn't know what they were doing, and didn't have all of our system equipment. Nine hours and 6 techs later, we listened to them argue among themselves, my house was a mess (they didn't clean up anything), exposed wiring was left outside, and the system still didn't work properly. The sales rep did not return calls for three days, then we learned that she had lied about how the system worked, and that some of the equipment we paid for was never installed. We finally had one tech that knew what he was doing, but after 4 days, still have issues with installation and service. read more

We have been in business with ADT for over 10 years. Thankfully, we have never had a problem with them until now... Recently, we had a problem in which one of our doors began to activate the alarm in the middle of the night, every night. One night someone had to sleep in the store in fear that the alarm would keep ringing. When we contacted ADT they turned off our alarm and told us that it would take 2 weeks for a technician to come out and help us. How is a business supposed to function without an alarm for over 2 weeks? That was our first problem and we had no other choice but to accept it. So, we wait the 2 weeks but when the date of our scheduling came, no one showed up. (We were originally scheduled for the 29th of December) We contacted ADT yet again and they told us that they had sent someone out on an earlier date but due to the store being closed (they came on Christmas Eve, on the 24th of December) they automatically canceled our original appointment. Several things are wrong with that; we were not notified about them being able to come on an earlier date, we were not notified about our original date also being canceled, and now they have given us another 2 week wait for a new appointment. We are beyond furious. Had they contacted us about being able to come on the 24th instead of the originally planned 29th, we would have made sure someone would have been in the store to let them in. When confronted with that fact, they informed us that someone tried to contact us on the previous day but that is false. They have not only our business number but multiple personal numbers in which no one tried contacting. Now, we are left waiting, with no alarm, through another big holiday break, for hopefully someone to come and help us. With all of this, every phone call takes at least a whole day to resolve because when you call their customer representatives no one really helps you and they put you on a waiting list. Let's see if someone really comes out for the next appointment or if we'll be left in another back and forth dance with them. I understand that this is a big company and they deal with thousands of people and businesses every day and that it's impossible to attend to everyone as quickly as we desire but the level of unprofessionalism that we have experienced from them is just unacceptable. read more

You are just another number in the system! I had ADT installed over a year ago at my home in Mandeville Louisiana. This past September my husband was transferred to Houston, TX. When we moved in September, I called ADT to cancel the service at the Mandeville house. The service was put on hold until we would purchase a house in Texas. The ADT rep. I spoke with over the phone never told me that my monthly payments would still be automatically drafted from my checking account...but that is fine. I just didn't realize it and thought when I bought a home in TX I would call and continue the service from where I left off. In January I received 2 messages from ADT to call an 800 number. I figured they wanted to know if i found a house and when would I start my service again. I did not call back right away. We purchased a house December 30, 2015 and were very busy with a shipment of furniture etc...from Nigeria and a shipment from our previous house in Mandeville. When I did call mid-January to inquire about the reconnect, they informed me that I had been turned over to a Collections Agency for not paying my bill. They would not let me speak to a supervisor, so I could understand what went wrong! They just kept telling me I had to call the Collection Agency. The Collection Agency said if you don't pay your bill after 90 days they turn your account over to Collections. The last automatic draft was November 2015. Now instead paying $121.32 to get caught up, they want over $900.00 with no service continuing! I still didn't understand, because if my account was being drafted automatically, why did it stop. I never stopped my account from being automatically drafted....so what happened? Of course, Collections couldn't tell me anything except they wanted over $900 or my credit would be in jeopardy. That I wasn't allowed to speak to a Supervisor at ADT is absolutely ridiculous and very poor customer service! The automatic drafts stopped because Chase changed my address from Mandeville to our temporary address in Texas, but ADT did not have the rental address in their system. So ADT couldn't get $60.66 automatically anymore. I had no clue this was going on! The person I spoke with originally to put the service on Hold, did not explain everything properly!! Now, I am being put in a terrible situation to pay this kind of money with no service attached. We could have resolved this easily, if ADT would have put a supervisor on the phone!! VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I have since heard many stories like this about ADT! I wish I would have never decided to do business with them in the first place!! I should have checked with Better Business Bureau, word of mouth, and reviews. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!! I will tell this story to everyone I know and then some!! read more
