This review reflects on ADT corporate, not this particular franchise in California. I had service at my former home in Seattle for a year and a half. During this time my system experienced constant malfunctions of a sensor in my basement which prompted several false alarms which when initially experienced and I authorized police response cost me $115 each. Attempts at assistance from ADT were ignored constantly including connecting me with the original installer (who performed shoddy work and didn't provide key remotes which were paid for by me). Upon the sale of my home I cancelled my contract which cost me an additional $630 to "buy out my contract". At this time I asked if there were any other charges pending and paid an additional $115. Three months later I began receiving numerous calls from their accounting department stating that I owed them $460 in false alarm charges. I asked for a breakdown of charges, which I received over a month later. These included two separate charges for false alarms for which I NEVER authorized their operator to call the police (this was after a call for a false alarm in October 2015 for which I confirmed that any alarms caused by the faulty sensor be discounted; The other two false alarms were already paid by me before I cancelled my contract. I was traveling for several months during this nightmare). Well, the nightmare continues. Every representative which I have attempted to deal with have been unbelievably rude and there is NO consistency in their accounting (during one call they said that I had not paid the contract cancellation fee!). As things stand, I have not paid their claim and will not even if it eventually involves retaining legal counsel. After doing my research and talking with different security companies, I chose ADT because their products would meet my needs per information given to me by ADT representatives. After installation and signing a contract, I found that the outdoor security camera I had been told would record 24/7 did not do that at all. The camera only records when motion has been detected, and the motion range is approximately 15 feet. That makes the camera worthless for the purpose for which I had it installed. When I called on March 11, 2019, to inform the company and see what they were going to do to remediate the problem, I was transferred from one department to another, finally being told that someone would call me later that same day. No one has called. I have emailed corporate customer relations and am waiting to see if the company responds. In addition to the misinformation I was given about the camera recording 24/7 during the 1 hour I was on the phone and got nowhere, an ADT representative told me that the motion sensor on the Ring Doorbell camera could be adjusted to pick up motion at 30 feet. I had just spoken with Ring the day before, so I knew that was incorrect. Representatives have lied about their products. When I told some of the people with whom I spoke on March 11 about the incorrect information I had been given, I was told that they were "sorry" and that the problem would be addressed with those employees. How does that help me? I am stuck with a camera that does not meet my needs for the 3 years of my contract. If I don't pay them, that is breach of contract. If they deliver products that do not perform as the customer has been promised, that is not breach of contract??? read more

Their entire promotions are based on lies. I would give no stars if that is possible. When we bought a new home we were contacted by ADT with a promotion that for zero dollars we can get equipment's and set up service for a monthly cost of 29$. We were asked for credit card information and told that the technician will come, look at house and provide details of security service. We can deny the service if we don't like it. During call we were not told that they are going to deduct 99$. When technicians arrived it was Quentin Dancy, trainee Wil and regional officer Casey. I mentioned I dont want to setup any service today and that is when they mentioned that our credit card was already deducted for today's service and there is no point in saying no now. The mistake I made was that I should have denied the service even if were to lose the 100$. They were not transparent from the beginning, only after complete setup of equipments they revealed that we need to have a landline to avail the 29$ service and if not we have to pay 53$ . They setup lot of equipments that I agreed to install for 600$ and told that they will provide a door bell camera for free . At that point I didnt have a wifi and hence they said they will come back to set it up. Today when a new technician came to setup the doorbell he mentioned I have to pay a 299$ one time fee to upgrade to a get that service. I was not informed of this cost upfront. In addition to this, they promised a 300$ gift card since I was not happy before signing the contract. Later I realized that we had to get a gift certificate, take a money order for 5$ per 100$ gift card and mail the documents to MPell. We have mailed the documents and its been over 1 month and we haven't received the gift cards yet. Every time we call Customer service, we have to wait for hours to get resolutions or updates. During setup we were also told that if we were unhappy with service we can cancel it up to 6 months. But when we called the customer service, they mentioned that they can cancel service only if there is something wrong with equipment and they cant fix it in 3 visits. Again this details were not provided to us. My biggest complain is that they were so caught up in selling the service and getting a customer sign up for contract, they were not clear on the conditions and transparent in explaining the costs and process involved while subscribing to that service. If I was informed of these in the beginning, I would have denied the service and not signed a 3 year contract. Please be careful when you get into sales call , make sure to take a day or two to think through and read the complete contract agreements before taking up this service. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what the sales person say, once we sign the contract we have to live with it. read more

This entire security system is a scam. My daughter had the system installed despite me asking her not to. They never tell you that your system is install by independent contractors so when there's an issue with the system they blame the contractors who can only be reached during business hours. My system isn't working properly I called about it and no one has contact about the issue but I am still paying for a service that not being provided. It's a waste of money you're better off installing cameras and monitor your home yourself. Because even if the system worked properly and ADT actually called me when the alarm sounded, how much time would have pass before they call the police and respond. ADT failed their contractual agreement to complete the agreed installation. ADT dispatched a technician to install the upgraded equipment and to my surprise the technician did not have the temperature controller with him. He said he would have to create a return which he did. I explained to the technician that I have had bad experiences in the past with technician canceling the service. Sure enough! I left my office early to make certain I was there to meet with the technician and mid way home I received a call from the dispatcher informing me that the technician had canceled my service. I was upset and told the agent that this was not acceptable and that I have had bad experiences in the past. She was very apologetic and gave me 2 months free on top of 2.5 I had already had. She then kindly rescheduled for a tech to return on a Saturday because she said they were least busy. Well! 12:30 came about and to my surprise no one showed up. I then called the dispatcher and once again, I was told that the technician had canceled the scheduled service. She offered to schedule another technician and gave me a window from 12-5. ADT is horrible! I got in a 3 year contract with them when I first bought my home. Worst decision I ever made! Worst service and equipment! It's a damn scam! Normally I just cut my ties with companies and don't worry about reviews or crapping on their business but they deserve it. When I signed up it was $39.99/month for 3 years which included equipment (key fob, 2 panels, 2 door and 10 window triggers, ring doorbell). Over the 3 years they have increased my monthly bill to $46.25 and their reasoning was because they can, so that was my first issue. I thought if you sign a contract that's what it will be for that time frame. That's how they made it out to be when they were trying to sell it to me. Now the second issue is after a year maybe this alarm starts beeping randomly so I call to see what's going on. Scared me thought someone was trying to come in. They tell me the batteries are going dead and will send me some in the mail to replace them. They come in the mail I have no idea how to replace them they finally send me directions only to find out the sent the wrong ones that my system takes different ones and they don't provide them so now they are saying I am responsible for going out and purchasing/replacing my own batteries. Proceeds to tell me they installed older equipment in my home. Now I asked if there was anything they could do to accommodate me? They say no, nothing they can do. Really! Now keep this this part in your mind because it only gets better ‼so I charge it to the game and eat the loss for the batteries. My ring door bell I have to charge constantly since there's not a live wire to install it too. Key fob quits working. Alarm goes off and I don't even get calls from them get that taken care of. All these issues causing me to have an unprotected home that I'm forking out all this money too but here I am screwed because I'm in contract and they know it. They are getting paid regardless. I have been a loyal customer on auto pay to never had a late payment. So I decided I'll deal with it and just cancel as soon as it's up. We 2/17/21 is finally the day I call today 2/19/21 explain all my issues over the years as to why I'm canceling and they have the nerve to offer to credit me the money back for the batteries I've spent out of pocket and lower my bill back down to the original monthly cost of $39.99. I said NO! I want out. All this time I have been told there is nothing you can do but as soon as I am canceling you want to help me! No way homie! So I canceled she said I'm good to go and there will be no extra fees. I get off and realize I forgot to ask if the payment pending today is going to be credited back to my account so I call back. They tell me I'm canceled but doesn't go in to effect til 30 days and I have to now pay up until March 21st. So the $46.25 posted today I will not get back that has me paid up til March 17th and to put the cherry on top of everything they proceed to tell me another payment of $18 will come through for the remaining 3 days‼‼‼‼‼‼ I am livid‼‼‼‼ at this point and there is nothing I can do but spread the word! Never again will I get into contract with anyone but I will never be in business with ADT nor will I ever recommend them! My wife and I signed up with ADT in Vista CA in May 2018. The sales person told us all our doors and windows would have sensors, plus the keypad. All for $28.99/mo. I received the digital contract already filled in with my name and signatures. I didnt complete it. The installer came on the day receiving 2 $100 visa gift cards. A few weeks later we did not receive the cards. I called and they said we had to mail in the claim forms. Also it was late now. I got the first bill. It showed my monthly payments of $52.99. I called again and spoke to the sales person. Told her what we were told. She said she will notify her boss and he will get back to me. All i got was an email showing the comtract that i did not sign because it was already done. It shkwed $52.99/mo. I feel this company is full of scammers. At least the ADT Defenders. We are very disatisfied with them and their service ethics. Now we are stuck in a 36 month contract that still i did not sign. All because it was already filled in with my info. Should of gone to Google first to find "reviews" on ADT prior to signing up. My homepage/search engine MSNBC/BING had none. Won't bore you with the details of my experience on 6-22-18. As most of these reviews state, BUYER BEWARE when doing business with ADT and especially Defenders, who does the actual install & service. They are con artists, use deceptive practices, and make promises they don't keep. My advise is to review your ADT order with them the minute they get inside your door and if they do not have all the equipment you ordered and ready to install what you ordered, kick them out. read more

Horrible customer service!! I am an existing business customer. Monday I called to upgrade an item on our panel. I signed a new contract as well. The following day (Tuesday) the tech came out. He said he could not perform the work because I refused to sign the contract. This was not true as I have a copy of the docu signed agreement. Strangely I was issued a revised contract 30 min before our appt and did not sign the modified agreement. He left and said that an ADT local manager would be in touch with me. In addition, the salesperson I originally talked with did not call or provide me with his information, or let me know there were any updates to the contract or work we had confirmed together the prior day (Monday). No one called me from ADT, no missed calls or voicemails. Today (Thursday) I called them back and have been transferred 5 times, while I was on hold with ADT another ADT person named Jeremy called me and I asked him to call me back. This is beyond frustrating. So far I am over an hour into getting this resolved via phone, I was told the contract I signed is void but never received any communication via email that the contract has been voided. Now I am being offerred different pricing and have had to re-explain several times to seveal people what has happened and my goal of simply getting a basic panel upgrade. Absolutely horrible service! We live in aurora Colorado, got service weren't happy with the way things were installed so we decided to cancel, mind you we were still within our 3 day grace period. We called our original sales rep to tell him we wanted to cancel, he told us his manager would be calling us for the cancellation process. We then got a call from JORDAN HAMMOND who claimed he was from corporate. Super rude and unprofessional employee! Way out of line. He tried and tried to make us keep the service, we then told him we weren't interested and wanted to cancel. Then he told us there would be an $899 removal fee which we were never told about when we initiated the contract. Then he decides to tell us we signed the contract and we explained to him that yes we signed but when everything was supposed to be explained before signing that part wasn't. As a matter a fact we were told that as long as we canceled within the 3 day grace period, we would be able to cancel at no cost. Jordan then proceeds to tell us there's nothing he can do so we told him that as a company they need to make sure that the sales rep explain these things because this is the type of thing that will make people very upset. We suggested removing the equipment ourselves to avoid the removal fee and then Jordan said if someone else who doesn't work for them removes the equipment we would be charged 2,500 .. which is outrageous!! We were told by Jordan an appointment had to be made for the removal of the equipment and though we tried to ask him over and over for the phone number to set that up he continued to avoid our question and argue with my husband and I. He went as far as being sexist, he told my husband "let the adults talk" and then said "let the men talk" .. my daughter was crying in the background and he litteraly told us "why don't you go take care of your child" ... then he proceeds to say "let's discuss racism" like whaaaaaaat?!!!! Who said anything about race? We don't even know what race he is. This guy is way out of line!!! Then my husband said "let's not get in our feelings and give me the number that I am asking you for" and Jordan Hammond says "you're acting like this is a break up" ... I am so done with this company. That was not professional at all!! I have the call recorded on video, and I demand that some type of disciplinary action be taken because this is not okay!! The WORST customer service. I've been with ADT for five years now, and I'd gotten annoyed early on when I realized they have a stipulation in their contract that they can raise their rates whenever and however much they'd like after the initial year. So after a year, my monthly charges start slowly increasing for service that hasn't changed at all. When I called to ask to have the rates lowered, the customer rep told me not only could he lower my rates (after a six month temporary drastic decrease as an apology for my dissatisfaction), but he could upgrade my system for free as well. Of course, when the tech arrived to our home, he informed us we'd have to pay for the upgrade. No, thanks. Then, when the six month period was over, my rates went right back to the highest price they'd been. When I called to ask about why they weren't at the lower rate the original agent had told me they'd be, the rep said he couldn't understand why I'd been told that could happen in the first place. He saw it noted in the file, but said he couldn't make that happen unless I signed a new contract. Out of pure frustration, I agreed. This is where I went wrong; I should have just cancelled services at this point. I called a few days later to express my regret at entering a new contract and was told it was too late to get out of it. Now that we're moving and I have to cancel services, I have to pay a penalty for early termination. I will never use ADT again, and I will advise everyone I know to NOT use them. read more

This company has questionable business practices and I would definitely recommend you read the fine print and understand everything before you commit to anything. Short and sweet, they pitched me on a free transfer and set up if I ever moved. Sounded like a great deal until we actually had to move. It turns out they only offer you credits toward installing, catch this now, "your new equipment" (and I won't even go into how 10 different salesman tried to snatch me up when they found out we were moving so there must be a database somewhere that collects and sells this info). So, recap, I install new equipment, and one year later we actually had to move, but they try to force me to buy all new equipment. I cancelled this contract immediately it's not worth it, and argued for a discount toward EARLY TERMINATION fees (they gave me 45% off but wouldn't budge any further). I Agreed to pay in 2 installments since I had 90 days to pay it and after the first payment, JUST two weeks later they automatically drew the second payment without authorization from the credit card I used to pay my monthly payments during the contract period. I have been with ADT for 7+ years and most recently have been experiencing problems with a low battery that sets off the sensor and will continue beeping which is problematic as it disrupts my neighbors if I am not home for a given amount of time. I have contacted ADT numerous times, been sent 4 separate batteries to replace and each time this problem continues. The original rep never called, text'd or emailed to say he was not arriving and ended up being a no-show. When someone did show up, he was very pleasant, but not helpful. He changed / upgraded the control panel and reassured me this low battery problem was resolved. However, the sensor went off the very next morning and I spent 4+ hours being put on hold, told the same scripted responses by the tech customer service and even laughed at by ADT "customer service" reps. This company has become too large to care about their customers. If anyone is looking for a home security company, go elsewhere - as I am planning on switching companies myself. I doubt this is the correct ADT Office, however my first interaction with them was absolutely awful. I sent in an online request for information. I then received 10-14 calls per day for three days. I called ADT back, expressed our needs and the sales rep was very polite and knowledgeable. Suddenly his manager comes on the phone, a John M. This man tried to force me to give him my social security number and then demanded a $99 fee - all for simply a consultation. He wouldn't give up! After I repeated multiple times that I was not going to provide access to my debit/bank account for a consult, he became belligerent, asking "What do we need to do to get this done?", "what is the issue here", etc... I wouldn't use ADT now for anything. There are many other home security companies out there. Unfortunately, now I'm afraid because I gave this crazy person our address. We had been with ADT for years, but I finally had to cancel my service. They send a repair men in August and said my system was working fine, when in reality it was inactive, due to a severed phone line. I just now got a letter that our service is inactive, after calling them found out since August it has not been working. Now the bummer, they said they called us on our house phone, that was not connected since a certain repairman cut the line. They could not reach us and never even thought about calling the other emergency number. But lied that they did. In the mean time I am responsible for my phone to work, when we never even use the landline and I have not plugged the phone in because it only distracts. So not just did I pay for phone service I did not get, but that was not a big deal, we don't use it anyhow. I also paid for a security monitoring, I also not received. I am done with ADT and their antics. They put the blame on me because I am responsible for my phone to work and they apparently are not responsible to let us know that the system is not working, especially since they did not want to send a repair man to begin with. Or rather charge us for a repair man. I am done with their antics, used to be a great company a few years back wen we just started with them, now it's a bunch of scam artists!!!! (Update, the telephone people just came here to check why my phone is not working, after trying to figure out the rewiring the ADT man left behind, I now have again a working phone. Now about that two year contract that was signed at the time of the repair man, you know the one that was held on my end but not on theirs! I had ADT for three years. Not once in those three years did I get a phone call from them when my alarm went off. I made several calls myself to get them to fix their crappy panel but no luck. Had them to my house four times to fix and the last guy just shrugged his shoulders because he didn't have a clue. Called and asked for a manager to call me as I wanted out of my contract as I met the three visit service requirement. Not.one.call. So I just waited till the end of my contract this month and finally cancelled them. Now they want to play nice and want to try to fix it when I cancel the service. F! You. Had my new alarm installed from Vivint and love it. Cheaper and better than ADT by far. Had the new system set to stay and I was playing some music rather louder than normal and my dual subs set off the alarm (window break sensor). Got up and shut off the system within 30 seconds. I got a notice on the display, an email AND a text message verifying the alarm and I shut it off. That's more in three days with this new alarm than three years with ADT. read more

This is the worst company I've ever experienced with. I called and spoke to their worker to cancel my service in March 2020. Shockingly two months later, I noticed that they have secretly continued to take automatic payments from my pay account! When confronted, they said that there's no records of me calling to cancel my service and that they refused to credit the payments. Then they tried to accuse me, doubting that I called them! Unbelievable. They continue to claim that there's no evidence of any cancellation. I said, what about phone recordings, timeline of calls, etc. They said, they have no such things. These bastards are thieves to say the least. They're leeches, suck their customers dry. On top of that, they sneakingly increase your monthly rate without you knowing. When asked, they said they sent letter about the increase. But no letters were ever received nor emails about rate increases. These are disgusting losers. Stealing from customers at every angle. We will never go near these barbaric thieves ever again nor with any of their affiliates, that we will make sure of. I am a former BRINKS customer. Now that Brinks/Broadview is ADT, service is AWFUL! I paid for my monitoring annually. First ADT did not do my automatic payment. Once I made a payment on line, ADT disconnected my account 2 months later for non-payment! I contacted them to see why my alarm was not working; they said you did not make a payment. I has to speak to 4 people for them to determine I made a payment prior to the disconnect. Once they reconnected my alarm, they sent me a new contract for 3 years for $130 more a year. I advised them the disconnect was their error. They told me no matter whose error it was, if the account was reconnected, it has to be on a new contract with ADT rates. I have had my system for 5 years at $299 a year. It seems to me ADT is disconnecting Brinks/Broadview customers purposely just to get them to sign a new contract at higher rates. NO WAY... I will take my business to some other company with ethical business practices, customer service and trained employees. Save yourself a lot of frustration... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ADT!!!!!! BEWARE: STAY AWAY FROM ADT - USE ANOTHER SERVICE! I ordered the ADT PULSE SERVICES to add cameras to my house on 7/12/13. They confirmed the appointment, showed up, did 1/2 the work. They said they needed a part and they needed to bring out electrical workers and would be back the following week. My husband paid them. That was dumb because they have never returned. Every time I call them they have one excuse after another. First they kept saying the part was not in. It has now been over 60 days! Last week when I called a lady said the part was in but they cannot find an electrical person. Today a guy told me that the part is NOT in. They are jerking me around. Don't let this happen to you and your family. If you are thinking about getting an alarm, stay away from ADT. They are the absolute worst company I have ever used for any purpose in my life. Probably my worst experience with any service provider in US. We put the system before relocating to England for a year. Three faulty alarms resulted in huge fees from police and ADT refused to fix it. Now we are moving for good abroad and they want to charge us $300 to cancel the service. terrible!!! from the start. i should've just went with my first instinct and told them to not even come. but I allowed them to. my cameras have not worked more than 24hrs after they put them up. I've called numerous amounts of times just to be told they'd come and NEVER show up. then be told a manager would call and they never do. after two weeks of no cameras I sat on the for 2.5 hours while at work because if you call past 8am it's impossible to get through. so finally after getting someone on the phone they didn't have a care in the world. they was mad I was mad and didn't assist me at all. told me I would have to pay the conditions and fees to get out of the contract. even tho their contract states I have 3 days to use the service and can return if I do not like. mind you I've used this service for no longer than 24hrs bc it would not work and nobody would come fix my issue now they're trying to keep me in this contract bEva use of their own issues. i do not see how this company is still in business! i myself could not go to work knowing I'm running a bad business! can you say attorney please read more

I was an ADT customer for a bit over 5 years and my only real complaint with them was they kept increasing my rates because I didn't want to sign another long term contract. I believe in companies rewarding customer loyalty instead of penalizing them by charging them more and more unless they're willing to lock themselves into a contract. Throughout each increase in payment amount monthly, I gained no features or anything new in terms of my security suite, but got the opportunity to pay more for what I already had. During Black Friday this year I picked up some Ring cameras and then started looking more into what they had to offer, so decided to replace ADT with Ring's security system (it was ~$350 with a monthly $10 versus ADT's $60 a month and due to the cameras etc I now gained video, motion detection, etc and one consolidated suite that would pay for itself in a matter of 6 months). This is where the real issues started--trying to cancel. I called on a Saturday and was told their cancellation department isn't available. That's fine/understandable. So I call Monday.. wait on hold about 10 minutes, someone answers, they get a few details, then put me back on hold for over 20 minutes before I hung up (had to get kiddos in bed).. Tuesday I tried again, waited on hold for 20 minutes, someone answered but was not able to be heard due to an extreme blast of static any time they spoke so had to hang up again.. Called again, 20 minutes on hold, someone took my details, another 20ish minutes on hold before hanging up. There's no way to do this on their site, via email, or in any other way. I ended up writing an email to the CEO, President, etc from information I found on the Googles and got a call back at about 9:30PM that night from someone in their service group, however not expecting it to be them and not recognizing the number I didn't answer. Instead they left a voice mail redirecting me to the 800 number I had been calling all along. So the next day called that number, waited on hold (luckily only for a few minutes this time) and then transferred my initial information, went back on hold for a few minutes and FINALLY got someone to cancel my service, all while telling me how I am an idiot for not fully reading my contract that tells me to renegotiate with them any time my contract is up (fair, I suppose, though I haven't dealt with that with any other companies..). In the end, I'm locked in to paying them one more time despite being a few years out of contract with them because I have to give them '30 days notice', but I'll take that as a learning fee. I will never do business with ADT again, primarily because of their contract/renegotiation process they require and because their cancellation method is primitive. Pros: -System worked -New customers get great deals with many great features (not available for existing customers unless you pay $$) -Decent Mobile app (Pulse) Cons: -After your long term contract is up you have to "re-negotiate" and sign a new contract in order to maintain your current rates or your rates will continuously climb -If your house already had an ADT system, you're not eligible for the cool new stuff without paying for it (signed up 5 years ago, possible this has changed since then, so validate that..) -Mobile app "Pulse" requires additional monthly charge -Difficult to cancel if you ever want out -- get berated by 'customer service' while doing so. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with the run around response we have received from ADT. We should have read all the negative reviews before deciding to have the system installed. All I can say is that ADT, national service and their authorized local installer, Defender subscribe to false advertising. We saw an advertisement offering a referral gift card if we referred New business. We convinced a relative to have the ADT system installed at her home like we had done so previously and told her to mention our name for the referral gift card. When her system was being installed, she told her installer about putting us down for the referral gift card. The installer told her to just call it in and it would be taken care of. Guess what? Over 2 months later and no gift card from ADT/Defender. In spite of several calls to both the national office and Defender's customer service by both of us, she was finally told that they do not show any referral gift card promised and therefore none could be given. Not only should readers beware of burglars, they should also beware of ADT and Defender. Choose a different security company. However, I do like their product so I'll give them one star for that. Additional comment: Although they may not be the same company, Defenders IS AN AUTHORIZED DEALER for ADT. WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! DO NOT GET ADT FOR YOUR HOME!!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ADT!!! I canceled my account with ADT back in June, and it is now November and they are still sending me voicemails, invoices, and threatening to send me to the debt collection agency!! Every two weeks, I call ADT so that THEY can FINALLY cancel my account, and EVERY SINGLE time they apologize and assure me that the account has been closed and that I will no longer receive emails, invoices, and threats. BUT not even 48 hours later, I will still be receiving calls, voicemails, emails, and threats. I have spoken with customer service representatives, managers, and supervisors abut this issue and they NEVER fix it after we get off of the telephone. At this point I do not know what to do and i am fed up with this company. November 6th 2018, I had the worst experience with a customer service manager who works for account management in Jacksonville, Florida. She was so nasty with me and spoke to me with so much attitude and no respect. She was not polite, nor did she mention her name when asked. I had to get her name from another representative the next day. I also asked her to read her notes so that she can familiarize herself with my situations and how many times I have been in contact with her department and she refused to do so. what a mistake choosing adt starting day two of installation the problems started, they kept calling day and night stating payments are not going through, everything was going through except their payment, the no installation fee is a lie, you end up paying over 1000 dollars for equipment with no camera, on top of that you purchase their so called equipment from a company called home defrnders an absolute disaster they called day and night and texted all day regarding payment issue again finally after paying for the equipment in full i still did not get an email confirmation and was like pulling teeth getting a number by phone from a rude costumor service, try your best to stay away, 27 dollars a month is a lie even their simple monitoring costs more, it's too late for us but anyone reading this stay away from adt and their so called equipment company the defenders read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. Called ADT for home security and only discovered 2 week later that I had been turned over to a third party. They had my wife sign a document and was told by the installer that it only stated that the installation was finished. I later discovered it was a contract binding us to 3 yrs. How can that be ok? They were to put the account in my mother-in-law's name because it is her home, but used my name instead. Changing is impossible according to them. Simply put one name in the computer over the old name. She gives her permission. Over the phone. Unacceptable. They made promises they didn't / won't keep..customer service is rude. I am so angry with their approach to business and customer service that....I am tired of dishonesty, rudeness and sneaky business. UGH!!!! I finally got to speak with a supervisor, Chase. He felt it important to remind me I was speaking on a recorded line, over and over, and he would not talk openly with me. All cryptic, can't help, 12 days later, too late to back out with a penalty. i HAD A cOMMUNICATION failure on the keypad, and have been a customer for years. I called and was told I would need to wait two days to get a Tech out. I had no choice, so I agreed. On the appointed day, I was told the Tech would come between 12--5pm. I waited at home, and at 4:30pm called in to make sure the Tech was coming. I was told he would arrive at 5pm. At 5:20, when he still had not arrived, I called in and was told he LIED and told ADT that I had called HIM to say "nevermind". When I escalated--I had to wait another 24 hours to get a TECH--and AGAIN give them the FIVE HOUR window. Mr. Cory showed up--and had my cell number. He started to look at the system--and then told my housekeeper he was leaving and would be back TUESDAY----FOUR DAYS LATER!!!!!!---but didn't bother to call me and explain! When I again escalated this to Corporate Customer Relations--Rochelle--ID#68165--I was told Tuesday was the soonest, and they WOULD NOT put me ahead of any other business. I cancelled my service on the spot. However, I got Rochelle to agree--on a taped line--that their service is "appalling". read more

The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with! I really wish I had done my homework on this company before going with them. What a ripoff! From the rep who set me up to "customer service" and the product, all terrible. I've had false alarms for no reason and they refuse to send a technician out without charging a service fee for their faulty equipment. The rep who set up my system has been absolutely no help at all. He obviously just wanted to set me up with the monthly fee. As soon as my contract expires I am switching to a reputable company that cares about its customers and offers a good product. My advice is to stay away from ADT. read more

I got ripped off by ADT from the initial installer when I purchaser my investment home (which my plan was to rehab and sell within four months). When the installer came, I asked him SPECIFICALLY if this was a contract. He looked me dead in my eye and said NO. Why would I sign a contract if my plan was to sell the property after four months. Four months later when I sold it, ADT tells me that I am locked into a 3 YEAR CONTRACT and it was cost me $2000 to get out of it! Instead of losing money, I transferred the service to my personal home. A year later my wife and I got an offer to sell our home that we could not refuse and here we are 6 months after selling and we are STILL paying ADT for a service and system that we no longer own. I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND ADT because their contracts SUCK. It is like being in the bottomless pit that you cannot get out of! We are real estate brokers and we will not recommend ADT to any of our investors who know how to make money and not LOSE money. Bye Bye ADT! read more
