I figured his practice was still my best bet. The new dentists there are great--as well as all of the hygenists, assistants and receptionists! Some of whom still even remembered me. They got me in fast, got the job done and got me on my way. Things are clean and pleasant and they offer TV and headsets, although the nice view of the river was enough for me.

I have called 3-4 times throughout this time and they have not provided any assurance of a refund. They are essentially double charging for the service and committing insurance fraud. I will continue to try to get my refund and I hope I get my approximately $400 back but for now I would not recommend this office if you would like timely administrative service. I will update if this changes. Update: when Dr. Mccormick learned about what was going on via this review (apparently the secretary had not been communicating this issue to him) he called me up and apologized and asked me to call him personally if anything like this happens again. They were very gracious and professional in handling this grievance and will be refunding me this week.

My initial visit to West Madison Dental went well. The hygienist and receptionist were both very…read morepleasant and I was happy with the work I had done. Dr. McCormick left no negative impressions on me and I had no worries about returning to have a cavity drilled. Before giving me a shot of anesthetic the doctor did not numb the surface of my mouth like other dentists have but told me the shot would pinch. He said he was trying to get close to a nerve and the closer he got the more it would pinch. He also said that even if he hit the nerve he couldn't do any damage because the needle was just too small. My tongue went numb very quickly and the rest of my mouth soon followed. Hours later the feeling returned to my mouth except for the right side of my tongue. The tooth I had worked on was then overly sensitive to cold and for days the area around the tooth was also very sore when I ate raw vegetables or almonds which was unlike any other dental treatment I've had. My tongue remained partially numb. I made a third appointment to address these issues and had a desensitizer put on the tooth. This treatment was successful. However, when I questioned Dr. McCormick about the numbness in my tongue he told me I probably bit myself while my mouth was numbed without realizing it and quickly left the room before I could say that it didn't feel like a bight. I have bitten myself many times before while having epileptic seizures and know the feeling very well. It has now been 2 months since Dr. McCormick has given me that anesthetic and my tongue does not feel any different than it did the day after the shot. I feel like I've been lied to by a dentist who is not concerned with the comfort of his patients or is unaware of the possibilities of his actions. I would not recommend Dr. McCormick to anyone.

Dr. Jaeger came in (it was a weekday evening) and immediately attended to him. Last week, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, my son-in-law chipped both front teeth. Dr. Jaeger could have been playing golf, or fishing, or reading a book, or just relaxing, but...he drove in and immediately fixed the teeth. Dr. Fred Jaeger is an excellent healthcare professional. He's knowledgeable, stays up-to-date on the latest advancements in dentistry, and is comfortable with stating when we should get second opinions on conditions and procedures. Never any upselling or shaming about one's appearance, the entire team here is excellent and respectful. They even go out of their way to contact you outside of business hours to make sure you're feeling okay and answer any questions that may have occurred to you after your appointment. He has a lot of experience with little kids and does an amazing job with them. They can watch TV and he knows how to work so that it's over before they notice. And for adults, he is very gentle and if you need any major work, he offers sedation. And he does a great job of catching little things before they turn into larger things. Meagan the hygienist does a wonderful job with cleanings.

I felt patronized and demeaned. My concerned were just completely ignored and I couldn't have an objective discussion about my treatment options. This is the worst dentist experience I've ever had. The hygienists and the rest of the team were nice and seemed competent, even though they botched the end of my cleaning because they were in a rush to move to the next patient. I didn't think Dr. Sands was able to make me feel comfortable and confident about the process. I needed some fillings done and I was at the office 3 or 4 times. I did feel that Dr. Sands always walked into the room in a hurry as if he didn't have any time for the patient. He hardly talked to me. He would take a look at my teeth and then just start working without any warning or explanation which made me even more terrified. Finally at some point I asked Dr. Sands to explain what he was doing because I was worried, and he replied: oh, he didn't know I needed any explanation, because most patients don't....... This I found rather strange. I do believe that Dr. Sands is competent in regard to dental procedures, but didn't have a good experience with Dr. Sands on the level of communication.
