I was referred here by my Dentist in Sun Prairie as I needed a tooth extracted after a crown broke off at the base. Dr Kawas did the extraction and everything went smoothly. I was surprised at how fast it was done. The staff checking me in were friendly, the waiting room is spacious and homey and the dental assistant was sweet and explained everything before hand so well I had no questions upon leaving. Subject: Overbilling, Refund Delay, and Misleading CT Scan Requirement In total, I have paid $449 only to be told I might need a root canal or an extraction--exactly what I already knew before the appointment. I feel misled, taken advantage of, and treated unfairly by both the billing process and the handling of my care. My experience with Waunakee First Choice Dental Group has been extremely disappointing. I am requesting: 1. An expedited refund of the $92 consultation overbilling. (It is now over 9 1/2 weeks and no refund). 2. A refund for the unnecessary CT scan ($317), as I was misinformed about its necessity and usefulness. Overbilling & Refund Delay: At my initial consultation (7/11), I was billed above my insurance's contracted rate and charged the full consultation cost. My coinsurance portion should have been $40, yet I was told to pay in full. I was informed I would have to wait 6-10 weeks for a $92 refund. When I raised this with the office manager, there was no explanation or effort to expedite the refund. Misleading CT Scan Requirement: The dentist told me a $317 CT scan was NECESSARY before he could provide a treatment plan. He stated it was not covered by insurance but said he COULD NOT proceed without it. After the scan, he admitted he still could not determine whether a root canal or extraction was required, and that I would need to decide during the procedure. Had I known the scan could be inconclusive, I would not have agreed to it. Poor Communication & Follow-Up: Despite multiple calls (7/23, 7/29, 8/18, 8/20), I have yet to receive a clear explanation or resolution. When I did speak to the office manager, I was repeatedly told the dentist was "not responsible for what insurance does not cover"--which was not the issue I raised. I have left 3 messages for Dr. Lee to call me back. I did receive 1 callback on 8/20 and called him back twice the same day but was unable to talk with him. read more

If you have your own insurance and paying anything out of pocket always call your insurance before to find out how much you should pay and afterwards get a copy of your explanation of benefits for that date of service and verify how much you really should have paid out of pocket to what they charged you. They charged me over double what I should have paid, and getting my money back, all I can say is that whole experience was horrendous. They did not want to give me my difference back, and I will no longer be using this provider. read more

So far, 5 stars. I've been to both the East Wash location with Dr. Austin Schopbach (I think I spelled that right?) and the Waunakee location with Dr. Sami Kawas. Dr. Schopbach did amazing with my cleaning and wisdom tooth extraction consultation. It was quick, painless and they really accommodated to my anxiety struggles while I was there and made sure to keep my stress level low. The whole care team was great. Super understanding. The fellow at the reception desk was super kind as well and helped guide me through all the next steps I might've needed to know about. Marvelous customer service skills! While visiting Dr. Kawas, it was a little longer of a visit due to it being a pre op appointment and it was also pretty busy in the clinic that day so I found myself waiting quite awhile but no biggie! I met about 3 hygienists/assistants (im not actually sure what they're technical titles were) but all 3 of them were very nice. When I met Dr. Kawas, he seemed interested in me as a person rather than just seeing me as teeth needing an operation and it was really nice. He was sure to ask about my own concerns, inform me of all the possible outcomes of the surgery, asked important questions about my medical history and so on. He was very inclusive with the care plan and informative while also being sure not to overwhelm me with it all. I'll definitely be switching here for my regular cleanings once this whole operation is over. read more

I'd give 0 Stars if i could. Terrible experience ! Definitely do not recommend Dr.Perry , the whole place needs new training on how to treat their patients. I don't usually leave reviews like this but i don't want anyone to be treated the same way. I was discriminated and treated horribly in this office, i will never forget the encounter i had with Dr. Perry and the office manager and the front desk who definitely need some extra training , so rude and unprofessional. I had an appointment with Dr. Geetha for a check up and she said that my wisdom teeth needs to be extracted so i was given a referral to remove it at their location in Waunakee since she couldn't do it and was needed to see an oral surgeon for that. The appointment was almost a month and a half ahead , i was also given some antibiotics to avoid any infection especially with the pain i was in, Unfortunately i had some nights where I couldn't sleep or eat because of the pain so i called them if i can get in sooner , and they did schedule me for 10/05/2020 , i took a day off to go to their office in Verona, i go there and they tell me there is nothing they can do, they can't do the extraction and that i still had to wait for my appointment and nothing they can do about my wisdom teeth or root canal since those both operations require an oral surgeon, so another visit was wasted and definitely charged for this 5 minute visit, also they said that apparently i had no treatment plan ?!Which I should because I just saw them two weeks ago and the issues were addressed and discussed with the doctor . Luckily they got me in an early appointment with Dr.lee for the next day for the root canal, the doctor was professional and did an amazing job and i thank him for all he did , also the assistant explained everything to me that was going to be done that day. On 10/28/2020 i went to their office in Waunakee, i called them waiting in my car to check if i can enter or wait taking all COVID precautions in mind . They said i can come in to check my temperature and check me in, i go inside and my temperature was taken and was asked to sit in the waiting area , after waiting for almost 40 min, i get a call from their office ! Asking me why haven't I showed up when i was literally in the waiting area ! They said someone forgot to mark my name ! Totally understandable and they seemed to be busy anyway, and i had a whole day off , so no issue was there . The nurse called me and I followed her and she explained that the Doctor is not gonna do anything but check your teeth , and we gonna have to schedule for another day to do the extraction, i was confused and sad that i have to deal with this pain for more days, and the office manager came in and apologized for the waiting and explained that there was probably some miscommunication and kind of tried to blame it on me since i look like an immigrant, they just assumed I don't speak English or whatever , so they wasted one hour and wanted to fix it by saying they can't do anything now and i have to schedule for another day when it's literally their fault, i told her i totally understand that and maybe if i was explained how the procedure work, i wouldn't have taken a whole day off from work, and came with a different expectation . I have explained to the manager that it's hard to take a day off at my job and I'm really in pain if there is anything they can do to help me out . She said they will try to get me in if they have any openings that day or another, the doctor came in without introducing himself or anything or even saying hello at least to your patient , he asked me to open my mouth and explained to me that my teeth is in a bad shape and it is close to nerves, and told me and i'm just quoting him " why are you mad, your wisdom teeth looks horrible and neglected, it's not my fault you're in pain and these things don't show up in one night . I told him i'm not blaming you for the pain, i'm just asking for help and I explained how I can't sleep or eat, and that he doesn't have to talk to me like this , it was so rude and unprofessional , i felt horrible and humiliated with what he said, and told him i didn't grew up having the right dental care and that's why i'm here to work on this not be called like this , and he said if you don't like it , you can leave , so i got up and got my jacket and left, the office manager asked me to talk to her and gave me a referral to another place, without an apology or anything , just like that . It's sad , you don't expect this from a professional at all. And i was definitely charged for that visit, you get humiliated by the whole place and you still get charged for it . I will start by saying that I have not used their dental services. I am an ortho patient and I very much wish someone had written the review I am about to leave before I handed over a pile of money to this company! I did my research before selecting First Choice. I consulted with 7 different ortho clinics in the Madison area. Dr. Cox was actually the most expensive of them all, but he seemed the most highly rated, so I spent the extra money for what I thought would be better care. Dr. Trent Cox is great, he really is. He is, unfortunately, stuck with some pretty terrible assistants who can not get things right! They have failed at every one of my last three appointments. Yes, three in a row! Luckily, I caught it this time around, having learned my lesson. They have set my treatment back by at least 12 weeks because of their incompetence! That is 3 more months of wearing braces because they don't really care about their jobs or their patients enough to take the time and make sure everything gets done correctly. It is always a rush in, do half the job in as little time as possible, and rush you out the door. I am stuck with them for the duration, but you are not. Please, heed this advice and select any one of the other fine service providers in the area! read more

This office got me in last minute the day before thanksgiving to look at a filling issue I had. I'm from out of state, but with the easy online forms and uploads, even as a new patient same-day, everything regarding insurance was quick and taken care of by the time I arrived. Everyone was friendly and helpful and even cheered when we discovered I didn't need a new filling but just some adjustments that my previous dentist missed. Great staff! read more
