After an unfortunate experience at New Tribe (just across the street), I came to Adrenaline when I woke up one day and decided that I wanted to get a tattoo. Some people wake up and say that they want to have pizza for lunch. Some wake up and say they want to go swimming. I woke up and said, "let's get a tattoo", so I did. I went to Adrenaline because I had been meaning to try it. I knew a few people that went for piercings and tattoos and had no negative things to say about them. I agree. My tattoo artist was funny and kept the conversation going the whole time. He was funny and he was pretty good. I got a tattoo on the back of my neck. Line weights and shading was excellent. I've had the tattoo for 2 years now and it's still solid in color. I was really pleased with my experience at Adrenaline. Great for walk-ins- only waited about 10 minutes for the next artist to be free, doesn't charge ridiculous prices, and has a great team working for them. I went today to get my cartilage pierced and I couldn't be happier. Everything is very clean and sterile, even in the front area. ive had a couple different experiences at adrenaline, all bad, because of horrible staff i accompanied a friend of mine to have his septum pierced. The piercer was extremely unfriendly and in fact said nothing to us other that "1,2,3" as he was sticking a needle through my friend's nose. he mentioned nothing of aftercare. horrible experience a few times, i have purchased a 10g stainless steel horseshoe ring, and they charge me a different price every time for the same exact product. I was once charge $35 for a ring, and then almost a week later charged $50. Whoever is at the till decides the price I guess. I have a big tall guy with a red beard charge me $50. He is by far the worst employed at the location. So rude, and seemingly, judgemental. He acts superior. The staff are so unfriendly, unhelpful, and rude. read more

I checked Yelp reviews to determine my spur of the moment decision to get a tattoo while I was on a visit in Toronto. This place scored high! They have a cool shop on the inside and staff greets you and tries to help right away. I had a design in mind was quoted a price and sent upstairs to wait for my turn. Somehow my tattoo artist got changed so I had to explain my idea again. The artist made suggestions and we ended up completely changing my original idea, instead of a geometric diamond we did a shaded 3D looking one. GREAT suggestion im much happier with his design idea. The only issue is because it was his idea to change the design and I had a different artist my quoted $120 tattoo turned into $300 with me not knowing till it was time to pay. NOT COOL! The tattoo artist said "well we changed the design". Well yes I guess we did but if its going to be over twice as much quoted you should tell someone that BEFOREHAND! It turned out beautiful though and the owner/manager dropped the price for me from the mis-communication which was very nice. read more

I've only ever bought jewelry from Adrenaline. I used to frequent New Tribe and am now a loyal Passage Tattoo customer, so I had no use for another place to get tattooed. But when it comes to piercing jewelry on Queen St W, Adrenaline has a pretty good selection. The prices aren't bad but they do haggle with you if you're getting 2 or more pieces and I like them for that. I haven't had any problems with their jewelry that I would blame on them (bought a star nipple piercing and the edges were really sharp). I love that, even in a rush, they'll sterilize and package the piercings for you. I have gone back repeatedly and will continue to do so for piercing jewelry. I give them 4 stars with only one missing for the fact that I've never gone there for actual piercings or tattoos. read more

A priceless experience- start to finish. This being my first tattoo, I was understandably a little nervous. I did all my research, learnt what to look for, and look out for, etc. I went into my consult with Alie at Adrenaline and felt completely at ease within minutes. She was incredibly respectful, wonderfully educational and even had a great sense of humour! I left this evening with a GORGEOUS tattoo that i am in love with (and is now the envy of many of my friends). Alie is an incredibly talented woman, there isn't a hint of shaky line or crappy colouring- my tattoo is perfect, and she was never late, and charged an EXTREMELY reasonable rate- while still taking the time to teach me, make me feel comfortable and crack a few jokes. I'm not letting my good friends or loved ones go to anyone but Alie, and I know that i'll be happy with this incredible piece of art for the rest of my life. I had a horrible experience at Adrenaline on Friday May 13th, 2011. I gave it one star, only because you can't give it none at all. I went in a few weeks ago because I had heard they had a couple portrait guys. I looked at the portfolios and booked a consultation with Remi. Well about a 1/2 hour into my scheduled appt he still hadn't shown up so the front desk/assistant Jonny took the consultation for him. From then everything was done via email. I asked if I needed to come in and meet with Remi, but was assured no he had everything he needed and was 'Excited' to do my tattoo. I booked the appt and showed up on time, that being my first mistake. I waited for nearly 2 hours with Remi not once coming out to apologize and I had to go looking for people to find out what was going on. Finally he comes out (Still doesn't bother with a simple sorry) and acts as if he has never seen the photo or quoted it, WTH quoted it then? He needs the photo printed 20% smaller and their printer is BROKEN. So he can't get it, then they start talking about rescheduling the tattoo? THEN Remi says that this is a 5-7 hour job (not 3-5 as previously quoted) which only confirms that he didn't quote it and he clearly has NO interest in my tattoo. The next words out of his mouth are what turned extreme annoyance into pure red anger. He says 'It would have been nice to meet you in person before this appointment'. WHAT?? My response, 'You didn't bother showing up for my consultation'. I grabbed my photo and walked out of that unprofessional, unorganized, and rude place. Sometimes the attitude and ignorance of the artist will far outway the work. I will say that Jonny was helpful, I'm not sure if Remi completely threw him under the bus OR if he was the problem. Worst experience i've ever had at a tattoo shop! I walked in to get a cover up of a tattoo on my ankle. I spoke to a sales rep (kevin) who gave me immediate attitude and refused to show me a portfolio or even talk to an artist. He then told me "we don't have artists who specialize in anything, they ALL do coverups. Coming in here not knowing what you want is like going to a car dealership not knowing what car you need." I walked out with no information and was completely unhappy. I WAS planning on getting my tattoo done that day, but I was told to come back. I wonder how many other customers they've lost due to the awful, egotistical sales reps. I'm never going back and plan to take my business elsewhere. Went in to get a small maple leaf in 2018, on my left wrist about an inch or so tall and asked for a specific price before the tattoo, they wouldn't give me one the man said our baseline is $80 so I said around $80-$90? And he said yeah around there so I get done and the lady says $117 and I said your colleague said it's around $80-$90? I had a terrible experience here in 2011. I went in to get my web pierced and the guy (maybe 35, bald) puts the needle through then answers his phone. I lay there for probably 6 minutes with the needle through my tongue and my friend has to go get him. He then complains when the ball won't screw on easily like it's my fault he can't do his job. Overall terrible experience, I will never go back and will always tell people about my awful experience. If you want a better experience, go somewhere else. When you're going to get something as significant as something as personal and permanent as a tattoo, you would hope to be treated in a respectful and friendly manner. Instead, I felt as if I was being looked down upon and judged. This past November, Adrenaline was having a deal on Movember moustache tattoos. This would not have been my first tattoo and I had been wanting a finger moustache for quite some time, and with the funds going to a good cause, I jumped at the opportunity. I walked in at about 6 or 7pm on a Tuesday night and the guy I talked to was very nice and explained to me that they were very busy and suggested I come back the night day, at an earlier time. So I went in at 3pm the next day, and the same guy I had been talking to the previous day was sitting on the counter, along with three or four other girls. When I walked in, they were all laughing and talking loudly and when they noticed me, they all remained seated, not saying a word, and just stared at me. I said that I was there because I wanted to get a moustache tattoo and it surprised me when the guy replied in a rather snippity tone that the guy who does tattoos was gone for the day. I asked when he would be in again, and he said probably not until the next day, but said that there were no guaranties if I would be able to get one done. I understand that walk-ins are not guaranteed and that I was taking a chance of getting turned down by just walking in, but he was being incredibly douchey and rude about it. I got the feeling that he was being Mr. Cool in front of the girls, especially when he gave them all a look like "see the dumb people I have to deal with?" After about five minutes of trying to get a solid answer out of him, I realized that I was being far too understanding with his douchebagery and gave up. As I was walking out, he let out a sigh and they all started giggling. I was under the impression that Adrenaline was a professionally run shop, but I was sorely mistaken and instead taken back to high school for a few minutes. read more

Every time I have walked into this place, from the first time in 2009 up until a few days ago, the staff have been totally rude. From the moment I've walked in the door and have had to interrupt employees' (including the manager by the way) "hang out time" to be assisted, up until I've decided to make a purchase. The only times staff didn't treat me like I was totally not worth their time was when I straight out said I would definitely be buying something expensive. The reason I give one star (aside from the fact that there is not an option to give it none) is because I do like their selection of jewelry, at least for the most part... Even if it is marked up ridiculously... I think the reason I've come back as many times as I have is because I've always hoped for better service, especially considering how many negative reviews there are. I guess they don't care. I hope one day the owner will finally decide to do some customer service training with his staff. Maybe then the intimidating elitist atmosphere will dissipate. My sisters and I almost walked out of our tattoo appointment today because of the very ignorant and rude blonde woman that greeted us. Her bad attitude continued as she designed our tattoos. When we asked her to change it she said "this is how you drew it, it's just three lines, how much more different could it be." I found it interesting that she had zero customer service skills and started arguing our own design. It got to the point where my sister had to ask her why she was being so aggressive towards us. Thankfully someone else stepped in and helped us design a tattoo we were all happy with. i agree with the first reviewer that in all honesty, as cool as the esthetic of the shop is, the staff are absolute shit-heads and I will never go back. I have been there 3 times and every time was an absolute horrible experience. visit 1: The male body piercer was asking me very invasive questions about my sexuality and as I was trying to avoid answering him he was criticizing me for being uncomfortable. He took a VERY long time to install a small and simple hoop in my nose and I basically just wanted to get the hell away from him the whole time. visit 2: I had lost the ball on my nose-stud and went in to get it replaced. I was telling the piercer (female this time) that it was so annoying always losing my balls. She suggested closing my hoop with a clamp. I agreed thinking she knew what she was doing. Her clamp ended up snpping shut on my nose, causing it to bleed and hurt A LOT. She then went and got a very tiny hoop and ball way too small for my nose and put it in instead. I left with a very sore nose. After a few days, the nose hoop was pulling on the piercing so bad that it began to stretch and get infected. This is a nose-piercing I had had for 12 years and she fucked it up. All I wanted was a replaced ball!! Not only that, she had damaged my original hoop. I was now out of my money as well as a piercing I had had for 12 years! visit 3: I was passing by and decided to go in to look at shoes, earrings and to pick up a new nose-hoop. I know feel stupid for going back. The guy who was helping me kept patronizing me like I am a moron for not knowing the name of the type of nose-hoop I wanted or what gauge I am. I pointed to the one in my nose to say just like this. He barked at me, "Don't touch it". I didn't really understand what he was saying so I started to explain to him that it wasn't a new piercing, he just kept barking, "don't touch it, how many times do I have to tell you". Then another staff came and also started barking at me that I am unhygienic and not to touch anything in the store. I was merely pointing at my nose-hoop. It was ridiculous. I am an extremely hygienic person. I was about to drop a few hundred dollars there on a pair of shoes and a bunch of jewelry but instead I just walked out. I will NEVER go back. read more

I went back in September for my conch piercing. I was pleased with it. The piercer Nic was quite rude. My buddy who came with me noticed it too. I felt very rushed. I went back recently to have my barbell changed to a labret stud. Got Nic again. He's still rude. I think it's no secret that Adrenaline staff are horrible. I don't know. I've only gone here to buy jewelry, but I can say that the three or so times I've popped in to get something new and fancy for my nose or ears, the associates have been mad helpful. And the prices for the shit I've bought here are okay. Not really a deal, but they aren't gouging either. And when I had them put in a L-nose pin, it was super fast and painless even though I'd done a number on my nose pulling out a corkscrew when it caught on a ring. On a short visit in Toronto, I happened by Adrenaline on the way back to my hotel from dinner. I impulsively decided to get another helix piercing and was immediately greeted and helped by a very knowledgeable staff (I dealt with a couple different people and they were both great, but especially Jane!!). They informed me of the options, I filled out the paperwork and waited for the piercer. She confirmed the location, made sure everything was clean and in order, and quickly and almost painlessly, it was done! She was VERY good at her job. Went in to get a simple nostril piercing. According to their website (Under Piercing - Process) they will sterilize your jewlery for you and pierce at a discounted price. Being that I am on a budget and have a sensitivity to nickel, I brought in my own titanium nostril screw because I've had a previous Stainless Steel piercing bubble, pop and bleed profusely and I had to take it out, whereas Titanium has been safe for me in the past. However upon arrival I was met with confusion about my inquiry and told that they only use their own jewlery, and that being pierced with their own titanium jewlery costs $95.00. I opted for Stainless Steel again because the girl (did not catch name, sorry!) assured me it was nickel free and that reactions are unusual. So, I hope the previous reaction to the nose ring was my fault somehow. I am honestly not trying to spend $95.00 on anything! I'm not balling like that. My piercer was Nic and my experience was fine. He was polite and everything looked tidy. After piercing I was given some aftercare instructions and a small bag of salt. It cost $65 to have a nostril pierced here, and I do find that pricey. I went elsewhere to have a nostril done last year and it was half the price. However, I'm not sure how piercing places determine their prices. Being to three different places to attempt the nostril piercing so far, there have not been any differences in friendliness or the apparent cleanliness of the place, while each place is double the price of the next. So I wouldn't discourage people from using this location based on the cost. Overall my experience was satisfactory and my only complaint would be that the website does not reflect the practices of the business. read more

I had a bad experience at adrenaline rush. I had got a microdermal anchor upper chest wall piercing at adrenaline rush in 2007 before I decided to get it I asked the receptionist there if it's safe', she said "no need to worry it heals fast and I won't reject or develop any infection if done correctly and we always do it correctly " Well me being a naive idiot went ahead with it and got it done, eventually I got infected so bad and have developed a huge red painful keloid on my chest visible to everyone!! It's 2014 and I still have it it's painful and bigger than ever !!! I found out last month I can Minimize it by getting surgery by getting steroid injection in it.. But now that I'm breast feeding my new born I have to wait till end of 2015 to remove it so that's another whole year of extreme shooting pain ! Though the staff is friendly and entertaining to be around, and the set up of the store is exciting. I wouldn't recommend getting piercings done here. Out of the four I've had done here, only one wasn't crooked or in the wrong spot. Before any of you assume that maybe I just moved at the wrong time, no I didn't. I have about 36 piercings in total, and around 58 hours of tattoos. So I'm experienced in remaining still when being stabbed with hollow needles. Ok, so at first I thought it was just me and that the reviews on this place couldn't be as bad as they seem until I went there Wanted to change my nose stud to a hoop to see how it would look, if it suited me or not. -I was standing around waiting for a while before someone helped me -The guy was rude to me -They didn't sterilize the jewellery they were putting in, they only sterlized their needles and equipment -When he did change my jewellery, I didn't like it and wanted him to change it back, he slammed drawers and flung stuff around like a 5 yr old because he was pissed; he was so rough with taking the jewellery out, my nose started bleeding and I've had that stud for 8 months. I went with my friend to get her tattoo- she had a 5:30pm apt. She was there from 5:00 and no one saw her until 6:00pm. And even then it wasnt even the person she booked the apt with that did her tattoo. So unprofessional, you're supposed to book enough time in between your customers so that another one isn't waiting Overall they suck at customer service. I went because I wanted a second opinion but not I don't even want to get my tattoo here anymore I wouldn't recommend them to anyone unless you like shitty service I dont even think they're worth 2 stars read more

I went to this place on June 30th of this year, I had a tattoo in mind. Customer service was good, I was asked almost right away if I needed help. The lady at the front desk said she would get an artist for me, moments later, another staff saw me standing and waiting and asked if I needed help, already taken care of. So 5/5 on the Customer Service for the front-end sales staff. I spoke to an artists S. Plum, I had a tattoo I wanted which was into two peaces, I showed him some items from Google of the tattoo I wanted. Plum advised me he cannot do the tattoo the same day as he wanted to design the tattoo which will take him some time to do. I booked in for an appointment with Plum for July 6 and was quoted a range from $400-600, which was pricey but I was curious to see what he would design up for me. On July 6, Plum wasn't available as he booked off sick. I was annoyed at this point since I have waited one week and still haven't even seen the design in full. So I took a moment to ask for another artists, the front desk lady was an awesome to understand my frustration and found me another artists available that day. I went over the design with the new artist, who told me he can design something up in half hour. I asked for a rate which he said $150, deal is done. So I am in the waiting room and the billing timer is on, it was a nice comfy waiting area, half hour later he had the design done, I reviewed it and liked it a lot, he asked me if I wanted an extra piece which in his opinion would look better along with the design I wanted, but warned an extra charge. I saw what he meant and decided he was right, the extra cost was pricey though almost an extra $100. When it was completed, I liked it a lot. The price break-down of it was $150 x 2.5 hours, including the design time came out to $375, plus an extra fee (which I was not able to see this guideline for extra costs) and tip, I spent $700. But was satisfied. What I normally would have paid is the rate only, no extra costs mumble jumble and if I were to hear it, then contract canceled see you later. But this time was accepted, I think I should have paid at minimum of $375 in billable work and 25% tip ($100). Overall really good artists, you just have to watch out for anything you are being overcharged for. If it is a really good artists and he is charging you lets say $200 an hour for a HD image tattoo on you then make sure you are only paying the billable rate and time, not some random number figure, that goes with any tattoo place you go to. They should make a print out of what I am being billed for and this print out should include this guideline they have. This is what is affecting their rating today, because on that aspect of the business, this is really poor, plus I didn't get a receipt. I hope my next experience here is better in that area. It is worth it here because they are clean, professional, good customer service skills and have improved ratings. It honestly makes me uncomfortable going in here... Not to sound TOTALLY antisocial, but whenever I enter, I get this clique vibe and they continue to talk amongst themselves and don't address customers entering. AND when they do, they make it seem like its a chore. I've been there a couple times for piercings. One such time, I wanted to get 2 piercing on my ear lobe (so 3 all together) and the girl said I had plenty of room on my lobe so they would just use the gun (rather than the needle in the cartilage). I took her word for it, incredibly stupid on my part... The piercings were probably 2mm apart each and I can't fit any earrings in because they're so darn close to one another. Not to mention they wouldn't heal (one more than the other). Turns out it did clip my cartilage with the gun... never healed properly. I first went to Adrenaline in May of 2009 to recieve my first tattoo and I was inked by Phil he was extremely cool and the staff was great but sadly my second expierence was HORRIBLE I do not know the name of my artist but she was rude and not very professional at all and my tattoo was missing pieces before the healing even started when I contacted the shop about the situation I recieved no email back and after calling the shop multiple times I was told that if I was willing to pay to have it fixed they would book me an appointment even though it was their artists fault. Adrenaline is unprofessional and dishonest. I bought a gold nose ring there and the piercer who put it in my nose for some reason told me that they don't come with their own gold balls (to attach the hoop). Of course I went along with it, being my naive self, and he offered to either clamp the hoop shut (which would wreck the gold ring) or to put in the silver ball from my old nose ring. To be honest I think they lost the ball on that nose ring and wanted to still get away with selling it. I went back a while after to realize that they owed me a gold ball. They all humoured me and the manager told me he would order me a separate gold ball... I went back two weeks later like he told me to, and it turned out that he never even made the order. They were practically rolling their eyes at me, going along with it as a joke. Overall, Adrenaline has a nice selection of jewellery (if they even give it to you whole) and seems like a put together place. But appearance isn't everything when it comes down to who's piercing/tattooing you. read more

After wanting a tattoo for a while I decided to go and get my first at Adrenaline. The staff appeared to be nice but afterwards I realized it was a completely fake attitude and they are not there to do the best work but get top dollar. They told me it was $150 and hour for the work they said it would take 2 and a half hours so I agreed to the price of around $300. Needless to say I was in the chair for all of 45 minutes and they charged me the $300 for the work anyway. I purchased a belly button ring from Adrenaline and it was a great experience! The guy who served my friend and I was nice and made helpful suggestions as to the differences between the jewelry. We even had our piercings changed in store and were appreciative of our positive experience. However, the top of my piercing fell off within two weeks and when I re-attended the store, my experience was not the same. The guy who served me the second time, although he seemed to try initially, was not helpful. He advised that he could sell me a replacement top to my piercing if one was found... one could not be found. He then attempted to sell me what he stated was the same color crystal... it was a different color as a result of being set differently...and he eventually admitted this. When I asked if anything else could be done I was greeted with a blank stare. Conclusion, staff is hit and miss.... from the feedback we received and the absence of the owner, I don't view this as a professional establishment. Also I overheard staff complaining about other customers, specifically that staff should demand to see tattoo's before agreeing and booking a touch up for them. read more
