We generally rely on word of mouth to find any type of "contractor" to help make sure we know what…read morewe're going to get. But we couldn't find a decent plumber that way. So, I decided to check Yelp, and I found Dupage County Plumbers. I had them replace a hot water heater, add some additional valves, and haul away an old water softener. Jason is an owner here, and I talked to him about pricing and what needed to get done. Though two of his employees did the work. I called in the morning and they came out later that night and did all the work. And, not only is there warranty on the hot water heater, but they also warranty the labor (which can be expensive). All in all, I was very satisfied with what I got, and referred Jason to my mom to fix her sump pump... which Jason kindly pointed out was the wrong item for the job (which is apparently why it "broke"). They call themselves the "honest plumbers", and so far, I have no reason to doubt them.

They took pictures to show me the problem and how they corrected it. For the cost they did an excellent job. I forgot to review them at that time, but they did great! Fast forward to this year. I had another issue with my roof when the area got heavy rain. A second roof issue ugh! Well the first company I called was Steve with Shields. Again they came out, took pictures to show me the area and did the work at a very fair cost. Hopefully I don't have to see them again for the roof, but if I need any other work done to my home, they will be the first company I will call. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs roofing or masonry done. Their professionalism, courtesy and kindness were unparalleled.

Whenever there is heavy rainfall, I would generally get water leaking into the entrance of my…read morebasement along one wall and I knew I needed a waterproofing solution before the rainy season starts in the Spring. I had a couple of Companys come to discuss the issue and give me estimates. One company, EVERDRY, was a national chain (a big company) and their solution was to waterproof the whole inside of my basement. The cost was more than what I could afford, $27,000. They said that they did not do small jobs and their recommendation was to address the problem by waterproofing everything. The other company that I had come look at the problem was, CHICAGO'S TOP CONSTRUCTION. They are not a national chain; they are a local company based in Chicago Illinois. Kevin, the owner of the company came out to my house with Fidel his lead worker. They did a thorough survey of the problem and came up with the solution to resolve the specific water leakage issue directly. Along with the waterproofing issue I also had them replace my old worn-down gutters which greatly contributed to the water seepage problems I had. The cost was much more affordable but more than that they wanted to address the specific problem rather than do work that in the end may have been unnecessary. Much of what they pointed out as being the problem of water getting into my home, I already had an idea that it was the issue, so I know they were not making up unnecessary solutions. Kevin and Fidel assured me that they could resolve the problem and outlined how long it would take and exactly how it would be done. It was a two-day job and Kevin and Fidel were excellent communicators at answering questions and keeping me informed. Fidel and the work crew were excellent workers. They arrived on time and completed the work as outlined. Kevin and his whole team are a wonderful group of people to work with and I was happy to have had them take on the project. They certainly have my confidence and backing when it comes to choosing a good company to fix, resolve or undertake any number of construction issues. I would definitely recommend their services and will look to them when considering other home projects in the future.

There really should be a way to give ZERO stars since some businesses don't deserve any…read more Handy Jack was assigned to my Home Warranty of America service claim back in May (2022). Ezra did come on the assigned appointment date of June 7, 2022, assessed the plumbing issues, gave my sister that info, collected a check for the $100 service call fee, and that was the last time we saw him. He did cash that check though! Just about two weeks ago I was finally able to reach him and had to remind him that he was supposed to be completing plumbing work. This man went on to say he would call HWA to check on the progress of the claim and made a "promise" to get back to me. Not only did he never call or text me back, according to HWA he NEVER SUBMITTED his diagnosis! I called to check on the claim with HWA (who I will be reviewing next) last Monday, July 11th. The only remedy HWA had was to reassign the claim (AGAIN making this attempt #3) and waiving the service call fee since one has already been paid. So basically, Ezra just walked away with gas money, no explanation, and DEFINITELY no apology. He ALSO did something to the kitchen faucet so even though the hot waterline wasn't properly connected, when the handle was turned to that position, water would still flow. He made it where now no water flows when the faucet is in the hot water position! So, he left it in worse condition than it was when he arrived! I'm VERY disappointed to say the least and I do NOT recommend this company. I've personally requested that HWA discontinue their partnership with Handy Jack Solutions LLC. I have also reported this situation to the BBB of America.

Maxwell Janik, of Chicagoland Plumbing Services, was able to fix the problem and replace the faucet very quickly. He was efficient and did quality work. My only quibble was the price; the last time we had this done, admittedly before the advent of relatively high inflation, was significantly less (different company). However, I did expect prices to raise, so this was not that much of a surprise. I do feel like the price was fair, but on the high side of fair. I would very much recommend Chicagoland Plumbing Services, and Mr. Janik in particular, to do a complete, efficient, quality job. The work is not cheap-quality never is.

I had a fairly serious electrical problem that required the replacement of the disconnect at the electric meter. Price looked high to me at first, but in researching the issue, the $2,575 was on the lower side for such work. Still, I decided to get a few more quotes. What a mistake. Of the 12 electricians I contacted only 6 returned my call. Four didn't show up, one told me my entire system was shot and needed to be replaced, and one just played games. I contacted Jay on May 19. He fit me in his busy scheduled for May 20 and 21. It was about an 8 hour job over two days. The work is professional. My disconnect was an old "fuse type" that was badly rusted and a fire hazard. Some wires were hanging unnoticed and could have been an electrocution hazard. Jay handled the project with professionalism, knowledge, and found the right electrician to handle the job. I don't mind paying what is a fair price for an excellent job.
