As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by everyone and treated like family by Tom, the owner. I can't help but want to support this business even more! I rarely ever complain but here goes...I scheduled an eye exam for contacts and glasses. But when I got there they cancelled on the contact exam due to lack of time. So instead of making one trip they want me to make another trip for contact exam part. I've been to many eye doctors over my lifetime. I never had to make two different appointments for glasses & contacts that's just crazy and bad business for doing only part of the exam when I was told on the phone it would be for both contacts and glasses. read more

I was afraid that I wasn't going to be able to repair the arms on my metal frames until I found Adolph. I was so impressed that Tom was able to fix it and in 15 minutes. I've tried to get them fixed where I originally got them but they told me to buy new glasses. This place is a gem. Very thankful. Also, walking in was great. Have you ever heard the phrase that you'll go the extra mile just to get good customer service? I drove all the way up from North Canton to Akron just because I read that these guys offered glasses repair. I was tired of going to other optical shops and feeling awkward about asking to repair my glasses for free but I saw these guys offered it as a service so I was coming to drive up here to pay them to fix my very messed up pair of sunglasses. When I arrived they were friendly and professional. They fixed my sunglasses quickly and happily. When I offered to pay them they said no they were glad to do it. I insisted and they said no way. I went to these people asking for help because the progressives I had did not allow me to see midway on the computer or read a book. Seeing at the computer was important for a new job I was getting so that was important. I got a quick exam and a lot of promises about improving the situation from the lenses I had. They gave me attention and promised to call the lens manufacturer to discuss the best lens for me to see on the computer, blah blah blah. Now I realize how badly I was taken in. I looked forward to getting the relief I needed the whole week while they were being made. I called to see if the glasses were finished, they were, and I said I would be there in about an hour. When I got there the place was empty. No other customers. A young woman finally came out, left me standing in the lobby, rand my credit care and handed me my glasses in my hand!!! (along with my other lenses and receipt) all while I was standing up in their lobby. Then the staff member literally disappeared. They did not sit me down at one of their empty consoles and ask me how I liked them, they just took my money and ran!!!! This shows culpability, they knew the glasses were wrong. I not only can't see at the computer at all, they are actually worse than the lenses they promised they could do better than. I was treated shabbily, without any decency. They can not be counted on to follow through with their word. I recommend going anywhere else. Lens-crafters are nicer than that!!!! read more

I had a great customer service experience at Adolph Optical - definitely in the top 5 over my 59 years. The hinge on my glasses was broken and working it's way loose. After visiting my regular optician, they told me they cannot make such repairs and suggested Adolph Optical. I also had visited my local Wal-Mart Optical and they too were unable to fix it or offer help, other than to also suggest Adolph Optical. I called Tom at Adolph and told him of the problem and he said to come on in. I felt right at home in their unique office setting, and did not have to wait. I had tried a "mall store" and got a bad prescription and no real help or customer care afterward. Adolph Optical turned out the opposite. The office is so friendly that it's like family. After my exam, in 2 days they had delivered a sample pack of toric contact lenses -- not one set, a pack of 5 for each eye. They scheduled a follow up exam after the samples came in and I had a chance to wear them for a few days to verify that everything was right.
