They provided high-index lenses despite my explicit instructions and medical history. I asked the…read moreoptician multiple times about what lens were in my glasses after informing them of have issues I was having with my new glasses and them trying to adjust and fix the issues. I never got a receipt either. Derek on multiple visits stated they were not high index when I asked him. Until I emailed and demanded the information they sent to lab and a receipt did I see that high index lens are in my glasses. I brought this up and he flat out said we discussed it and I wanted them. That never happened. I had previously informed them multiple times, my eyes cannot adjust to high-index materials. To ensure there was no mistake, I provided their office with over five pairs of my previous glasses as physical proof that I only wear regular plastic. I also provide my eye records for the past 4 plus years including prescription and receipts that showed last lens were reg plastic not high index. They ignored my medical needs and the physical evidence I provided them. Which has left me with a $748 pair of glasses that are unusable. On top of giving them over 6 plus months to fix the issue. On top of Derek dismissing my concerns questions and not returning phone calls. Its truly sad that as a professional he treats and does this to his patients and lies on top of it. I only wanted to be able to see.

So last February, I took a regrettable chance and got Lasik. Prior to my surgery, I was near…read moresighted and had high hopes of know longer having the burden of glasses. I knew going into this that , even after Lasik, one could still have to wear reading glasses and that dry eye could also be an issue. What I didn't expect was for my sight to decline so quickly and receive absolutely no support when I would visit for my monthly check ups. Not only am I now unable to see far away but also up close, during the night, whenever it snows or rains or to do the fine detailing that is required for my job. These were not issues prior and I can't express enough how much I regret getting Lasik. During my consultation, I met Dr. Wohl who also did my surgery. I found him to be charismatic, knowledgeable and polite. He answered all of my questions and was the only reason I reconsidered going back to Roholt (the woman who did my consultation exam was so rude I didn't want to use Roholt). Unfortunately, during my surgery Dr. Wohl was the polar opposite. If I could've gotten up and left during the procedure, I would have! I was nervous & the amount of volume wasn't enough to help relax me. My right eye went smoothly and as expected- my left eye was very painful and I knew something wasn't right. This added to my nervousness and the shaking increased. I know that moving around during this can cause a flood of unwanted problems but I honestly couldn't stop my body; it just really hurt! Dr. Wohl grew very impatient and gave me a few minutes to try to collect myself but his tone of voice said it all...one of the assistants tried to soothe me and held my hand while another said encouraging words. For that I am extremely thankful. Unfortunately, when attempting my eye again the pain increased and I know I moved. Dr. Wohl was clearly angry when I said it hurt and kept telling me it was almost over. The assistant suggested more numbing drops and this seemed to increase his displeasure. She reached to put them in and he swatted at her hand- this royally p*ssed me off. You don't touch someone! You don't touch anyone-ever! I just wanted to punch him and leave. This only added to my body's response and unintentional movement. He eventually let her add more drops but they didn't help. After this, I was hoping I'd never have to have any corrections again but that was not the result. Over the course of 3 to 4 months, I felt as if my vision was better with glasses & my eyes constantly hurt after Lasik and expressed this at every single visit. Dr. Wohl just kept telling me to give my eyes time to adjust...leading to painful dry eye in both eyes and blurred vision in my left. We agreed to a treatment routine of using drops every two hours without success. Eventually he installed eye plugs in addition to the drops; unsuccessful. This was starting to cause trouble for me at work as I had been reprimanded by management for being too slow & my work lacking in it's usual precision and quality. I explained that I couldn't see, I even brought in a picture to show the assistant and Dr. Wohl just how difficult it is to see the lines cut in the foam I work with and was repeatably told to wait it out. Eventually, I met Dr. Roholt who noticed I had a pearl of oil under my lens that needed to be irrigated. Dr. Celmer did the procure - she was a fantastic! I requested extra eye numbing drops beforehand and was not disappointed. The process went as it should and I saw a huge improvement in both of my eyes even though the left one was fixed. This lasted about 2 weeks- then back to square one...I have been to my monthly check ups , I've used to eye drops as instructed- even adding gel drops at night, sunglasses and goggles at work...still can't see clearly. All of my visits after this have been with Dr. Celmer and I hate to say that I've lost my patience with her as well. I was told it's just dry eye and to wait it out...after my last visit in December (only to be told that my eyes had gotten worse and my condition was concerning but let's monitor it). Waiting around clearly isn't the answer as the results are the same from February. Tired of getting the run around, I went and got a second opinion at Glainville , Hussing & Fath in Kent. I have an astigmatism...had to meet with NOES and am now on meds,etc... Why is it that not one of the 3 doctors at Roholt ever took me seriously, offered solutions other than useless drops or made any effort to correct my sight?! Do not go here!!!

They put drops in my eyes and I had no clue what they put in my eyes because they didn't tell me. Then I was told to go wait in the lobby, my vision all of a sudden got blurry as I was looking at my phone so I had to frantically call my mom to try to figure out what was going on. eventually they came out to get me and observe my eyes. They failed to ask if I was driving or anything like that. So, I had to drive home with a very blurry vision, which is very dangerous from the doctors failure to inform me what was going on. In May, I had two pair of glasses that fit me perfectly. By the time I finally gave up on Handel Vision, I not only had no usable new glasses, but the old ones were ruined as well, all the result of information withheld and a couple of plain old untruths. Dr. Slavik told me I needed to get new glasses, as my eyes had changed significantly. In spite of already being in the middle of some personal issues, I went ahead and ordered glasses. To make the transition less nerve-racking, I ordered the exact same make and model (plastic) frames as one of the pair I had been wearing. Things went south early when the completed eyewear arrived with wired nose pads installed. I had them send them back and when the replacement pair came in, they could not fit them to me properly. At this point, Dr. Slavic told me they could simply pull the lenses and put them in my old pair and my problem would be solved. Well, they did that and they ruined my old pair, twisting them out of shape. Even putting the old lenses back in did not salvage them. Well, at least I still had one old pair I could wear. However, the prescription in those was extremely old. Optician Sandy told me that they could create new lenses for them and they would not change the fit by doing so. Foolishly, I agreed to this solution. Needless to say, when that pair came back with new lenses installed, I didn't even need to put them on to see that they were completely ruined. I went back and forth with their optical department for months, including ordering (on my own) another pair of frames of the same make and model they initially ordered for me, and having them make completely new lenses for them. Again, they could not adjust them to fit comfortably. I spoke with the owner of the practice (Tom Handel), and he promised me they would resolve things. He had me go to the Fairlawn office where the head optician again was unable to resolve the issue. By now it was October. The whole process had engulfed my life... as, of course, seeing is pretty important. Out of desperation, I asked Dr. Handel if he could recommend an expert in the NE Ohio area that could help me to resolve my issue. The only response I got was to go back to his optician and try on more frames (and of course make yet another purchase on top of the ~$1000 I had already spent). I kick myself continually for going back to this place repeatedly and actually expecting to get my problem resolved. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." My mental health has suffered since May, but I am finally starting to regain it having "cut bait" with this outfit and going elsewhere. If you want to remain sane, do yourself a favor and find just about any practice other than this one.
