$175 yes $175 to unlock my car. I have manual locks. I knew the price would be high but I didn't think it would be this unreasonable. It took 5 minutes to complete. Maybe 6 or 7. It is a 35-40 minute drive from Key West to my house in Big Pine Key. What would that be in gas-$5? $10? It was 8 p.m. Do only rich people accidentally lock their keys in their car?? We are hurting so bad financially because of the COVID19 closures and I am pregnant. They know, just don't care. But what else could I do? They knew I had no other option. And what does the owner say as a response to this? "Dishonest practice" on my part. Not sure how these are not facts. He also stated that "no one forced you" ....I tried to call for a better price but there's no other company. No one even answered. Not sure what my alternative would be? Simply damaging my car? I am still wondering what he believes my other choices would be. As I said, I know the price is high but nearly $200 for a drive that takes about 1 hr. And 10 minutes and at 8pm...I don't agree the price is fair I did not need the owner to berate me like it was my fault that his prices are so high. Complaining about the time of day. And the "round trip" of maybe 1.25 hours. It's just not fair. And bad business practice to respond so nasty. Just say "I'm sorry you dont think our prices are too high." Or something. Unprofessional response. $175 is higher than my electric bill. Higher than my cable bill. There wasn't another option: I tried. I guess it's being suggested that I just should have broken my own vehicle to get them? 2 stars because they arrived and unlocked my vehicle in 5 minutes. read more

Find someone else! This guy is on KW time! Tried to have a key made and every time we called, his wife had an excuse for him. She would tell us that he's available on Friday after 2:00. Call on Friday to make an appointment and now he' s out on service till at least 4:00. Ask WHEN he is available and get accused of being "rude"! Worst customer service and he was outright nasty! We had a great experience with Les and Tami from Admirals. Unfortunately, we lost the key to our rental car while visiting Key West. Les and Tami arrived in their shiny red truck and were able to cut a new key and program the key fob alarm within 30 minutes, all while we waited on the front porch of our hotel on Duval St. Les contacted the rental car company and got the appropriate codes, which saves us some money. He then showed me exactly how the procedure would go. They were both incredibly professional. They even gave us some really nice neon luggage tags for our trip back home. Les and Tami were wonderful. They were by far the most helpful customer service folks I encountered that day when my car rental keys went on a watery adventure without me. I called them because Key West Avis had provided their information as reference since Avis was no help - they said towing the car up to Miami would cost $700 or I could get a locksmith. So yes, Les answered the phone promptly, no VRUs, press 1 for English type thing, just his friendly voice on the other end asking what he could help with. I provided the make and model of my car, and the fact I'd lost my rental car keys, he'd asked where I was, and provided an estimate of how long it would take to get there. TG! He arrived within the specified window of time, and sure enough, had everything he needed to reprogram the car key, he'd given me the opportunity to test the key to my satisfaction before heading out to the next job. Spent the weekend of my birthday in Key West. The night we were going to leave I accidently locked my keys in the trunk with all the doors locked. Called AAA and they had someone come to unlock my car. Unfortunately I didn't know that unlocking the car without the key would put car in theft mode. The alarm went off and locked everything electrical. Having to spend the night again in KW called the Audi dealer which told me i would have to tow the car to them. NOT. After trying several locksmiths/dealers and either getting the cold shoulder or voicemails, I called Les and Tami and they answered RIGHT away. I unfortunately lost my key for a rental and they drove all the way from Key West to Little Torch Key. Over the weekend, we were locked out of our house. And after numerous unsuccessful calls, we contacted Admiral Locksmith. Les professionalism and courtesy were outstanding. Les and Tami at Admirals Lock & Safe were great and the saviors for the day! The day after telling the rest of the family to be careful not to leave the car keys in the trunk when getting things out our overflow vacation luggage stored in the trunk...I locked my rental car keys in the trunk of our Alamo rental 2016 Hyundai Sonata. I called AAA for lockout service first since I didn't purchase Alamo's lockout insurance. The AAA guy showed up about an hour and 20 minutes after calling. He was able to open the door, alarm started, I pushed the trunk button and it didn't work since the car sensed this as vandalism and wouldn't release the trunk. The AAA guys tried pulling down the back seat but fold down seats release from inside the trunk! He very kindly offered handshake and apologized that he would not be able to get into the trunk, and he left. I Googled the fix with no luck. BTW, the alarm will alternate through cycles as long as a door or the hood are open. I called Alamo and explained the situation; Alamo said they could send out their lockout service but they would not be able to get into the trunk either. I asked if they could overnight the spare key to me but they said they don't have a spare key. The offered to contact the nearest Alamo location about 25 miles away; that way I could have the car towed and exchange it for a different car. Needless to say I passed and we never discussed that cost/fees but I'm betting it would cost more than the 10 day rental fee I'm paying. The following morning I called the Fort Lauderdale Alamo rental counter, after several tries to speak with a person I left a voice message asking for help and leaving my contact info; never heard back. I call the nearest Hyundai dealer service department (about 100 miles away), they had no method that I could use to get into the trunk in this situation, and they suggested contacting a dealer nearby to explain the situation to see if I could get a new key made at that location. I gave this more thought and considered a locksmith. We found Admirals Lock & Safe in Key West, FL online. I called and spoke with Les. He was very friendly and pleasant; said it would be no problem he's done this several times. He gave me a quote, knew exactly where we were located and said they could be there in 35 minutes. They showed up on time. Les knew exactly what to do and had the trunk open in about five minutes without any problems and no damage to the vehicle. We had a friendly chat for about ten minutes and they were on their way. They are a very nice couple and were literally the saviors of the vacation. A job well done and worth every penny!
