Get there, (4 hours late in my circumstance) try to up-charge from $297 to $1,000. Then they tried to runaway when I didn't comply. It was August 30th and they knew I would be stuck with Labor Day weekend but thankfully some friends came to the rescue. Scamming and intimidation tactics I was quoted 149/hour 3 hour minimum, with free storage for one week. then a 10% discount on the move in. $447 for move out $407 move in. I have texts agreeing that that is everything. The guy shows up to move me out. It's now over $50 added for toils. and now its four hours minimum and some other fees. they want $700 for what ends up being 30 minutes of moving. I am not moving furniture. Its 10 boxes. After going back and forth we get it back down to $550 I have no choice as it's the last day of my lease and I am a woman moving out with no help. ( i did tip because I believe the workers should still get tipped even if their boss is terrible) I arrange to have my things delivered on Friday at noon. At noon I get a call for 3. I am not home at three, and my building does not allow weekend move ins. We agree to Monday at 8. Mo day at 9:30 I get a call. Instead of my things a guy waltzes into my apartment and demands $550. He tells me cash now or I can't have my things. Imagine you're a single woman waiting for your movers and someone comes in and says hand me the money or no things. No where in sight are my things. I ask about my discount and ask why the price keeps going up. He say fine with discount $500. ( by the way this was after i showed him text messages from dispatch and going back and forth ) During this time, I am told he doesn't care and I can complain all I want because " I own this city" Every time I call dispatch I get hung up on and told give him the money. I want to first start by saying the employees worked very hard and did do a good job. I bet you're wondering why the one star review? Here goes: The largest reason, was at the end of the move, when everything was said and done, we tipped each of the four movers 60.00. They then said it wasn't enough of a tip and argued with my wife and I as to why 60 bucks ( for each person) wasn't enough. We also bought the movers lunch in addition to the tip. Reason number two being they were very messy. The house we moved out of was extremely dirty when they were done to the point we had to hire a cleaning service. The rugs in the basement were stained from the hand trucks they were using and the hardwood was very dirty. They did no cleanup and did not put anything down at the beginning to prevent this. They also left all their leftover packing materials when they were done at the new place which filled our entire trash can. Third reason, the quote came in at 1150. Ended up being 1800 for hidden fees. Packing, gas and tolls etc. There was a travel charge on the initial quote which I thought encompassed the gas and tolls. Again, they worked hard, didn't hit a single wall or damage any furniture, however the overall experience was terrible. read more

Wow, I have never been scammed so bad in my life. The job was to move packed boxes and 4 pieces of furniture for storage at my mom's house. The easiest way to talk about how they scam you is by going through their promises listed on their website: 1. "Free In-Home Estimates - The price you're quoted is the price you pay. Guaranteed." False. They never came to the house to view the items, we discussed the job on the phone and we received an email, with a quote of $425. By the time our items were in the truck, they hit me with a new bill of $838.70. Here's the breakdown of the charges: A. The estimated time to do the job was increased to 6 hours while they were 2 hours in. The "base" is now $510 instead of the guaranteed $425. They started at 12pm and finished the job at 5pm and had a total active labor time of 3 hours. And somehow took 2 hours to get to a destination that is 1 hour away, but still argued it's 6 hours. Exhibit A1 (Email quote): "Minimum Estimated @ 4 hours labor plus 1 hour travel time @ $85.00 per hour - $425.00" B. Fuel cost of $35.70, which is calculated at 7% of the base cost of $510, which they've conveniently increased in the middle of the job. C. Packing charges of $126 They folded some furniture with blankets, but then wrapped a bookcase with saran wrap and the cushions to the couch without asking and argued that it doesn't count as furniture. I also had an electronic piano that really didn't need to be wrapped, but they suggested I wrap it, without giving me a heads up that it's going to cost me. Apparently each wrap cost $20 or $25. The "boss" condescendingly told me to read my email because it's written in there that there's an additional cost when I tried to dispute it. Exhibit C1 (Email quote): "Packing included: All furniture to be wrapped in quilted furniture pads; Packing Materials: All Other Materials Additional Charge- If Needed" D. Tolls - $67. Rationale was that they need to pay toll to come into the city, which is $12, and NJ Turnpike tolls. Fine. Then rambled about some other tolls? The truck is based in Bayonne, so why do they need another toll into the city. I go to my destination every weekend, and it's $36 round-trip. E. Certificate of Insurance $100. They emailed my building their insurance. When my husband disputed this and asked why it cost $100 to present insurance they allegedly have coverage for the "boss" said he needed to get new insurance for the job. When my husband asked if they had to call the insurance co. to get add'l coverage to cover our small job, he said yes. That's obviously BS. Exhibit E1 (Email quote): "We offer valuation insurance at no cost." 2. "Competitive Pricing - Moving with the best van line in the world is surprisingly affordable." They definitely had competitive pricing when we put out a request for quotes, which is why we went with them. They gave all these guarantees, were extremely helpful and accommodating with our questions and we trusted them. They repeatedly confirmed $425 is what the job will cost and used classic bait and switch tactic. 3. "Guaranteed Pickup and Delivery Dates - We will be there on-time, every-time. Guaranteed." They were scheduled to arrive at 11:30am, but came at 12pm. I'll cut them some slack since we are in the city. The mover kept me in the loop through text the whole time. 4. "Background-Checked, Qualified Professionals - No one enters your home we wouldn't let enter ours." When they first walked in, they appeared very nice and I showed them all the items I was trying to move and was respectful. Things turned ugly after they had all our things in the truck and hit me with the new bill. When trying to dispute it, the mover said to speak with his boss. I gave them tips before the scam unraveled because I was moving my things to my mom's house. I told them that this tip covers the move for here and the destination and he said okay. After reading reviews on Yelp while they were in transit, I panicked and called my mom and told her not give them the cash before they move everything in. Upon arrival at point B, they got on the phone with me demanding cash and threatened to leave and put my items into storage which I had to pay for. He also said that I was wasting time for talking and they will have to charge more. I said I'm not going to pay for the time you try to scam me and if you have no control over pricing then he's going to have to wait while I talk to his boss. Eventually he called back and came back with $700. When they finished at my mom's house, they guilted her into giving them more tips. 5. Innovative, Groundbreaking Technology - Admiral Van Lines new technologies keep you moving forward. ???. It was 3 guys with saran wrap, packing tape, and a GPS that took them the long way. I just moved from NY to OH. The whole situation was stressful enough but, the company didn't help. On the front end they were great. On the back end I am stuck putting furniture together and sorting out boxes that belong to different floors. They came in at a low rate which is why my company decided to use them. Everything seemed great leading up to move day, quick responses to email, quote was fairly priced - I was quoted $450 for 4 hours moving time and 1 hours travel which I thought was fair and I was ready to pay a little more if it went over that time. Moving day comes and 3 movers show up in a small truck that I 100% knew our stuff wouldn't fit into. Meanwhile the person I arranged with knew every piece of furniture I had. The movers took 5 hours just to load the truck up!!! And did not wrap my furniture properly. They wasted so much time loading the truck because it was too small and had to rearrange items several times to make things fit. I had to pack up belongings in my car to the max so that we wouldn't have to make a 2nd trip. The movers all day handled my belongings with not a care in the world. They dropped my furniture right in front of me! Any time my fiancé tried to guide them how to do something or to wrap something they fought with us and told us to let them do their jobs, that they were the movers. They damaged 5 pieces of my furniture and took no responsibility for it, the main guy (the only one who spoke some English) fought with us all day long. I ended up paying $1200 because they took 11 hours to move us. They tried adding a bunch of extra charges at the end like $200 for supplies they used to "wrap" our stuff. Clearly that's BS, considering they did not wrap our items properly or they wouldn't have been damaged. Tried to charge us for their Certificate of Insurance they provided to our building. The whole thing was a nightmare. I'm still waiting for them to provide me with the paperwork for the insurance claim. PLEASE BE AWARE DO NOT USE ATLANTIS VAN LINES THEY CHANGED THEIR NAME!!! Long story short, they will look for a way to make more money and rip you off. They first Quoted me $425 plus some predictable materials. It was a one bedroom apartment. I was thinking it will maybe come out to around $500 plus tip. As soon as George arrived, he mentioned that I have to pay $100 for insurance. A liability insurance that my building required and they bought it just for me. I know how insurance works... company is suppose to carry insurance to run this business. And their quote clearly said insurance is free, unless I request additional coverage. After arguing that I won't pay for insurance, George decided to look for other ways to make extra money. So he decided to take his sweet ass time and use as much materials as he can. After loading the truck, it came out to $1000, and tip is 15 to 20%. According to George, what I was provided over the phone was only a quote. So of course it will be different. I understand, but my 1 bedroom apartment should not have taken 7hours. And use $250 worth of materials without my approval. They just kept bringing in their own boxes and started stuffing my bagged items. He explained that this will make things quicker. What a liar. Then why the hell did it take 7hours for a damn 1 bedroom? My building has a security guard and she stands to my witness - the guys took excessively long time to load the truck. One of the guys took over an hour to take apart a baby crib. When it didn't even really have to be taken apart. At the end, I still tipped $100 just because I didn't want to be the same scumbag that they were. Of course, they were mad because it was less than 15%. We were tol $595 and day of had to pay $1500 (cash). They use their quotes as a way to bait in customers, clearly knowing they aren't going to cancel the day of. So once we realized this would be over $1000 I decided to email the sales person I had been working with to politely ask what had happened and there was any way they could help us out since we were blindsided by the cost. He told me to call the office and they would help me out. "The office" was actually connected to the cell phone of an extremely rude manager. I tried to calmly explain my concerns, and he almost immediately started YELLING at me and threatened to cancel the project. I then emailed the sales guy again to complain at how I was treated ( still remaining very calm). Once the sales person brought this to the manager's attention he then called me back to yell at me even louder, told me I had an attitude, and then stated he would definitely be cancelling the project. I eventually gave in just to savage the situation and for the service to not be cancelled, but I still cannot believe that is how they treat their customers. Everything everyone else is saying is accurate, as our experience yesterday included everything from the bait and switch pricing, a cash-only demand with no prior mentioning and a price increase of close to 50% compared to the quote. I will never recommend this company nor will I use them in the future. This was the worse moving company. Three Russians came to help me move from Brooklyn to Jersey. Arrived at 7:00AM, began work at 7:45AM. Left Brooklyn at 12:30 PM, Arrived in Newark at 3:00 PM. The trip to Newark takes about an hour or less... but "Les Trois Mousquetaires" showed up 3 hours later...and asked to pay for travel delay expenses in addition to toll fees. They broke the gas range without regards, and I had to spend an additional $200 for repairs. The Russian movers removed the entrance door and improperly put it back. A complete disaster....and to top it off, they demanded $100 each (x3) tip... for the lousy job. I was quoted $800, and ended up paying $1500... oh!...cash only? ......with that money, I could have rented a truck ($250) and hired 10 Mexicans at Home Depot for $100 bucks each, and use the remaining funds to have beer with them... I called weeks before my moving date to book this moving company. I hired two guys to help me move and after describing how much furniture I had, I was guaranteed that they would move everything in 3 hours. The day before I scheduled to move, I called to confirm my booking and they asked me if I could change the date and time of my move at a discounted rate. I declined because my roommate and I couldn't move any other day or time because of our demanding work schedules. The day of my move, I called that morning to confirm they time they would be arriving at 8:00 am (per my booking). I was told they would be 5 hours late!!!!! I was so mad, but there was nothing I could do. So, my roommate and I moved as much as we could with our cars on our own. By the time the movers arrived, they only have to move our furniture. The minute they walked through the door, the gentlemen was so rude and started to fight with me. The three moving guys (I only booked two men) took 5 hours to move our 10 pieces of furniture into our new apartment (after my roommate and I spent all day moving our "personal" boxes). THEY WERE SO SLOW!!! The rude gentlemen started to fight with me when I questioned the contract terms and rates, but I was tired, annoyed, mad, and just wanted the guys out of my apartment. So, I signed the contract which was my mistake. The extremely rude gentlemen increased the hourly rate I originally agreed to, charged me $100 for tape and for wrapping 2 mirrors (SO RIDICULOUS), and CHARGED ME $150 FOR WALKING UP THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS (ONE WAY)***. I tried so hard to help these guys move to speed up the process, my roommate and I bought them pizza because they didn't have lunch, and they still treated me with so much disrespect. I am a young adult, moving my myself with my roommate. I have never felt so disrespected and taken advantage of; not only as a client, but as a woman. I called the company to express to them the stressful and frustrating experience I had moving, and I submitted a claim for a refund (especially for the $150 i was charged FOR WALKING UP THREE FLIGHTS OF STAIRS - ONE WAY!!!). After explaining the situation and sending them a copy of the contract (because they lost the original copy), I was told that they understood my frustrating experience and would send me a refund. The nightmare started when the movers arrived at the pickup location. Instead of the flat fee that was quoted and agreed upon by Frank, we had to pay an additional $100 for the COI. After calling the company and speaking to Gregory, he said that he would lower it to $50. After my father also called Gregory, he said he would lower it to $25. When the movers showed up to my apartment, Eric knocked on my door and said that unfortunately the couches which I had measured would not fit in my elevator. The agreement was that they would bring it up 5 flights of stairs in the case the couches did not fit in the elevator. I had explained this to him, and it quickly escalated into an argument, which I'm sure woke up all the residents in my building. He proceeded to tell me that it wouldn't fit in the stairwell, in my hallway, and in my doorframe either, one excuse after another. This shocked me since I had measured the couch and dimension of my apartment doorway beforehand. After about 2 hours of arguing, getting out my tape measure to measure the hallways myself, and Eric repeatedly telling me "no fit" and not even attempting to bring it up the stairs, he demanded that I pay him in full at hat moment. I'm not sure if it was laziness or lack of experience (although he said he had 15 years of experience). We suggested merely trying to bring the couch up the stairs and into my apartment, and to the very moment we got to my door, he kept yelling that it won't fit and this is a waste of time. I do not have 15 years experience in moving and should not be personally lifting furniture, but I asked them to step aside while I started to take this into my own hands. I showed them how to take in the couch from the bottom instead of the top...and it fit. Isn't that what movers are for? We went back for couch number 2, and they couldn't get the leg of the couch off. Thankfully, the Couch Doctor had arrived already as I was told by Eric an hour prior that the only way to get the couch in was to cut it. I paid extra for an emergency couch doctor to help screw and unscrew the legs of the couch as the movers were incapable of this. Isn't that what movers are for? I do have to say that the two men working with Eric (don't know their names) were the only ones helping, but unfortunately they took Eric's leadership cue of not doing anything unless he instructed it...which wasn't much. At one point they asked me to take the couch pillows up to my apartment. Isn't that what I paid movers for? They left all the doors open and unlocked on their way out of the building. I spent 4+ hours of my weekend morning arguing that we had a flat fee, debating that the couch fit, measuring the walls myself, getting laziness from Eric, and showing the movers how to do their job. I am extremely disappointed in the service and would definitely not recommend if you want to get any job done. read more

I have started my first of a 2 part move-- writing information for yelp, a blog and the NewYork Times. First item that should be noted, and very shady, is they only accept cash ( without revealing it on paper with the quote) second of all , Gregory, a manager, makes you feel like he is the 'Russian Mob'. Attempts to change the move date to the 'day before' for "less money". Will give a final update once the second part of the move is done. Will call in the police and Better Business Bureau if the second part is not appropriate. Stay tuned. DO NOT HIRE !!! I always read reviews first don't know why I didnt this time - well I hired them about a week ago they were very nice on the phone - yesterday they were suppose to come but called & asked if today was ok instead said they were backed up - it wasn't a problem for me so I agreed - they were suppose to be there at 9 called & said they were stuck in traffic & would be there at 10 - ok so when they finally arrive Victor his name tells me I have to pay cash - I told him no one said anything about paying in cash & he went on about how much extra I would be charged for certain things (also I did not have that much to be moved) & told me he was charging for 8 hrs. - really !!! I didn't have much & the move is only 1/2 hr away - so he call this Alex who I suppose is the boss & says he will take charge but then Victor asks if I was going to put their tip on the card (3 of them) I was stunned that he asked that & more red flags went up - so I said no & now he wants to know how much I'm going to tip them so stunned as I was I just said $20.00 each & they laughed & said he was nice enough to call his boss & I had to give them $100.00 each - thats when I told them to leave that I'm cancelling this move now - well they wouldn't leave they just stood there till I walked to the door & opened it & said LEAVE !!! so he goes on the porch & calls Alex again & knocks & want me to talk to Alex I refused & said just go - now my phone is ringing & I knew it was Alex so wouldn't answer - they sat in the truck for awhie then finally left & I get a text from Alex saying he would give me a flat rat of $975.00 & to let him know - I text bck NO - & finally they left me alone - what a horror show !! Be warned!!!!! If I could give less than one star I would. I hired this company to complete a move for me. Three men came out to move my items. Afterwards, I paid the men and gave them $15 each as a tip. When I gave the money to the man who handled the administrative part, he scoffed at my tip, saying that it was pennies for the work they had done. We noticed that my daughters Kindle had been missing after the move. Ironically, the kindle case was there but the kindle was gone. My wedding ring was missing too. I've tried to get the issue resolved with the company on 2 separate occasions. I decided to give up when the last time I called, the man on the phone cursed me out and told me to call the secret service for the missing items. I have since filed a police report. read more

just now They are a scam!!!! They give you an estimate and then before they bring your items from your move to your new address they give you the bill which was over 3 times the amount and then when it is customary to tip 5% of the total bill which was unbelievable to begin with the large Russian man demanded $100- for each of them and everything in cash which was never discussed. They want cash so you can't despute it with your credit card company. I am a single women who was harassed and intimidated and bullied into paying this. Admiral is the worst, PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE. They quoted us $500 for three men and we ended up paying $1200 CASH. They also called to say that they would give us a discount if we changed our move date to the day before we wanted. We decided to take up them on the offer and made arrangements revolving around the schedule adjustment ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY CANCELED THAT ADJUSTED DATE AND DIDN'T TELL US UNTIL WE CALLED THEM BACK TO CONFIRM. THEY REACHED OUT TO US WITH THAT OFFER, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. Then we had to scramble to change everything back to our original plan, then they arrived one hour early and threatened to charge us from that time or not move us at all. THEY WERE A NIGHTMARE. At the end of the move, they also had the audacity to try to add hours by saying they ended their day at 4:30 on the contract/invoice when everything was moved and unloaded by 3:30. Dealing with Admiral was terrible. I would now rather pay a transparent company more money than deal with these shady people. NO STARS. read more
