    Two beers and Port ahead!
    Leddy M.

Amazingly, through all the redevelopment Adelaide Oval has retained its charm. I attended the Port vs Fremantle game here with a good friend from the UK on the 10th May. The weather was perfect and there was a decent crowd in attendance - about 38,000 people - so not packed out, but not like the tough times of old. We sat in the outer General Admission area at the Northern end of the ground (near the hill - it's still there! - closer to the Eastern stand side) and were about five rows back from the boundary - a great spot if you want to feel close to the action when the ball heads your way. Over the course of the game we drank a couple of beers and had a gourmet-style hotdog each - I was shocked that these were a) quite reasonable and b) didn't totally bankrupt us (as "entertainment" food often does). Don't get me wrong - the food and drinks aren't cheap, but you don't need to sell a kidney to afford them. (Well not straight away at least!) My friend remarked that opposition supporters are separated to different areas at stadiums in the UK, and was amazed at the intermingling of rival fans and general good humour on display in Adelaide. The acoustics of the redeveloped ground are truly astounding. If you've never attended an AFL game, you owe it to yourself to check one out - if only for the spine-tingling effect of so many passionate people cheering for their chosen team.

I was one of the many highly skeptical people who could not believe the oval redevelopment could be pulled off. Let alone pulled off successfully. And having played on Adelaide Oval in my illustrious sporting career I have an appropriate emotional attachment to the place (okay, it was an under 10s game at half time of a Port v Sturt match, but it still counts!) It was only after returning to Adelaide after some time away that I began to gain an appreciation for all the work done, and all the things I'd heard had been so positive so my expectations were high. After one season of football I was sold. Rather than ruining the carnival atmosphere of a summer's game of cricket, the atmosphere has been added to the already fast paced sport of Australian Rules Football. No matter where your seats are, you have a great view and you're able to meet up with mates for food and a drink while still having a good view of the oval. It sounds simple but it's a really huge achievement. There's also the proximity to the city, the hill and the relative ease of getting in and out of the venue, but for me it's all about the atmosphere which is largely down to great design. The only small negative is the apparent inequality of toilet facilities. Apparently it's quite a long wait for a wee at the ladies loo. But hey at what event isn't this the case? No matter what your preferred form of entertainment is, if something you like is happening at the Oval and you are in Adelaide it's definitely worth a look.

Killer venue. If you're thirsty beforehand, the Strath is a good starting point. Catching a match on a balmy summers evening with the glowing city skyline in the background is a quintessential Adelaide experience. Take it all in, because if you're standing on the grass by the old scoreboard, you're about to get covered in beer. There's hardly a bad seat in the house. And regardless of what you think of it, the roof on the western stand does a brilliant job of protecting you from the eliminates, whether it be from the beating sun during the day or from getting too chilly at night.

ticket staff didn't know what guest passes where. One bridge between city and oval for 45,000 people. You have some work to do Adelaide.

This is a world class facility. No matter where you sit or stand, you will get a great view at an entertainment venue no matter what the event. Hard to detail what it is, it is part historical, part future, part great present value. Well worth a tour or visit if you get a chance.

Because it is like a real sporting stadium, you feel famous (and extremely intimidated) for the whole 5 minutes you are competing. The equipment is good quality. The turf is good, the javelin and discus ring is good and so is the long jump pit. Definitely the best athletics venue in Adelaide. It is always amazing competing here in contrast to your home ground. One thing I have to say about Santos is that it gets stinking hot. Not just a bit hot, absolutely boiling. I remember one day I was competing the track got up to 45 degrees and there is very little shade. The stands are quite large and all under shelter (thank-god) but the seats definitely aren't the most comfortable!

A pretty wide pitch too from memory. There is a dated yet efficient grand slams, fairly good members areas and change room. Overall an efficient athletic venue for all sorts of track and field events. There is also a substantial amount of parking however it can be a little bit of a maze when trying to find the entrance... especially if you're coming in from the city, and are driving over the bridge on Sir Donald Bradman Drive. If this is the case then chuck a right down Railway Terrace and keep your eyes peeled for the entrance. Otherwise perhaps get your GPS out. You don't want to miss your game. Believe me.

This is really a hub for creativity, whether it is for artists, businesses or events. No matter your venture, you will be welcomed here and looked after. The crew at Tenth & Gibson went out of their way to help me out with my event. No matter my enquiry, they found a way to assist and support what I needed. What I do love about this space is that it is well priced, open, well sized, funky, colourful and you can pretty much work the space you want it. There is nothing to navigate around; and there is great acoustics and lighting. There is some pretty cool street art on the walls and the decor is really funky and eclectic. So, you don't really need to do much to dress up the room. It already looks really great. The other bonus is it is just outside of the CBD and there is free street parking! Your guests will love that! If you need it, you can make great use out of the photography backdrop. You can project onto it or use it for your own photography for your event. It was a brilliant backdrop to my photos of guests. If you do have a catered event, there is a space to the side of the main Venue room you can use with easy street access. Speak to the staff about using this. I was absolutely delighted to have used Tenth & Gibson for an event. It is by far one of my favourite venues in Adelaide and I recommend it to anyone looking for a space for large or small events.
