First time at the Norwood Oval and I have been wondering why I have not been going there for years. Coming from working at another Club you can see what is good and bad about an oval. This one here is in ok repair (some chairs are a little old and need wood replacement). There is a good amount of seating though with a few booths out the front. Also lots of grassed area for families to bring a rug, sit and relax. One thing I like about this oval is where it is positioned. Whoever picked the spot, they did it right. Why? Well, when the sun goes down the stadium shades the grounds. That is perfect, especially if you are watching a summer sport. Great for the players as well. One thing that I was not impressed with was the range of food options. Hot dogs, chips and nachos. Hmmm... I could totally see a bunch of Food Trucks out here. And being that Adelaide has some amazing ones, why not have the option of some super amazing food to enjoy while you watch a game. Who knows, maybe it will bring a whole bunch more people?! Nonetheless, I think that this oval is a good one. The staff and security here are really friendly and helpful. read more

Norwood Oval, aka 'Coopers Stadium' is home to the Norwood Football Club (Redlegs) of the SANFL. The oval has a huge capacity of 22,000 with a big historic grandstand, which seems odd smack bang in the middle of one of Adelaide's most cosmopolitan streets, the Parade. The place just looks good, which is odd for a footy club. Instead of just a short wire fence around a crappy oval, there are beautiful brick walls, gardens and even a rotunda. The inside of the place is half/half. Half nice grandstand and seating, half looks like any other local football club, which makes for a great, sometimes relaxed, sometimes electric atmosphere at good SANFL games. Norwood Oval is now officially known as Cooper's Stadium thanks to a sponsorship deal and it is the official home of the Norwood Football Club. The oval at the Parade has been the site of a resurgence in Friday night SANFL football in recent times with huge crowds flocking there to watch matches. As a big SANFL fan back in its heyday, many was the time I went to Norwood oval but was always worried by the fact that one of the boundary lines was very close to a brick wall housing one of the grandstands. Running into that would hurt! Norwood Oval has also been the home of Baseball in Adelaide since the 1950's and the game is still played there today. It is one of those sporting arenas with a real soul and a great sense of community about it. A recent upgrade to the lighting towers at Norwood Oval have now made the lighting acceptable for television standards. We just all have to hope in SA that the ABC remembers the importance of televising community based sports to its audience and doesn't give up on the SANFL. We want to see great sport from local ovals like Norwood Oval on our TV screens. Come on ABC. read more

Norwood Oval, home of the mighty Red Legs. I'm not much of a footy fan (or sports in general for that matter) buy I had a good friend who used to play for the Red Legs and on occasion I'd head along to the Norwood Oval to watch a game. It is quite a nice oval, somewhere between professional and completely unpofessional standards. There are big grandstands which can fit large numbers of people, but somehow it still has something of the sense of a highschool oval, but perhaps that's just me. Anyway, I must say that I prefer the little rotunda out the front than anything else inside. read more

If I fancied a game of footy and a hot pie on a wintery day or to hear the crack of a baseball bat and an old school piano organ playing on a balmy summers eve this is the oval I'd pick for those magic sporting moments. With a green tin shed serving Coopers, Johnny and 5 Seeds and a small canteen delving out hot pies, dogs and other fried goodies you can really engulf yourself in the tastes, sight and sound of a game here. In summer the Australian Baseball League take over with night matches and in winter you can freeze yourself onto the grandstand seats all for a measly $14 adult ticket! Facilities aren't bad for a footy oval with 70s working toilets, squirmy uncomfortable wooden seating and *mostly undercover grandstand viewing. There is great night lighting and the grounds (although small) are easily viewed from all access areas to the oval. For a local footy club and oval this place doesn't do badly and it brings life to the Parade when needed most. read more

The Norwood Oval is a lovely spot, it has historical significance and contemporary significance given that it is still used on a reasonably frequent level. Coopers brewery support it and the grounds are very well kept. read more
