As far as stadiums go to watch a game of AFL, this one definitely is not the best. It's probably one of the cheaper venues when it is compared to the Melbourne Cricket Ground or Etihad Stadium, but it is the only one in Adelaide so there's no point in those comparisons. I generally have a good time watching a football game here, unless the weather is really bad then it's hard to get out of it.
If there's a bunch of you going in one car and you can all shell out a couple bucks each for parking, then I recommend taking the car. There are free buses which go in different directions around the Adelaide suburbs, but they are always really packed, smelly and have you been cramped in a bus with a bunch of AFL supporters who go for the team your team just lost against? It's not fun. If you're patient, and know your way around the area, then definitely drive.
The food is pretty expensive there, but it is actually pretty good quality from my experience, and the chips don't taste like they have been sitting in the rain for a few hours.
I always enjoy watching a game at AAIMI Stadium, especially when my interstate teams defeat the Adelaide Football Club or Port Adelaide Football Club, it makes the entire trip worth it.
For those who aren't a fan of the two Adelaide teams, I am fairly certain that all other teams do "interstate memberships", which is something worth looking into. read more
