Recent lunch with a friend was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. My friend agreed. We did not receive water for a long time--had to ask for it. Then we both ordered salads, we waited and waited. The diners at the table next to us, who came in after us, were served and done with their meal before we received our salads. Had to ask bus boy for the salads 'cause waitress was nowhere to be found. When bus boy brought the salads, the chicken on top was so tough, one could hardly cut it, much less chew it. While the food was good, our server was disinterested in serving my son & I. We went in at an off time, around 3pm. We asked for water with lemon and received water with no lemon. We ordered the Crab Dip and it was flavorful but obviously microwaved. The chips that came with it weren't chips but chip bits. The broccoli had an off flavor as well. Addison's is, by far, one of the best restaurants in Columbia. They have such a nice atmosphere! It is one of those restaurants that fits all occasions from casual lunch with friends, to dressing up for a sit down dinner. The menu is incredible, and very unique. I suggest the Nachos Bianco, and the Super Deluxe Happy Fun-time Burger. Another personal favorite is the Chicken Asiago Pasta. Looking for a great "Americana" local restaurant? Skip Addison's and go head to Flat Branch! We're locals and I've been to Addison's many times. They've never had great service and though the food's not bad, but it's not the best local business in town. They hit a new low tonight. Sure, it's a Saturday night and we expected a wait for a party of five; their 45 minute wait estimation seemed reasonable. Two 8-10 person groups and two smaller groups arrived after us. We had an odd number, but other than their four-top tables, Addison's (in theory) should be a good place for a group of five - their booths are quite spacious and many of their 4-tops can be turned into circular tables. However, they seemed to have converted all their non-booth tables to "big group tables" and were giving priority to big groups (some smaller groups came in and ate at the bar rather than wait for a table). After at least 45 minutes, they seated both big groups that came in after us, and then the two small groups that also came after. By the time they wanted to seat us, nearly 85 minutes had passed. Being nine months pregnant and having to wait that long was not acceptable, so we left. read more

The only reason to go here is the Nachos. If you don't like Wantons, maybe you should go someplace less expensive (ask for things you are questioning on the side). I used to LOVE Addison's. Their nachos are amazing. But as of late, their service has been horrible and the last 3 times I have been their the food has been cold. Either the pasta is cold and looks like it has been sitting on a table for 2 hours or the mashed potatoes were cold. The last time I went, I ordered a turkey wrap (surely you cannot mess up that) and the wrap was all soggy and wet and falling apart before I picked it up. I will give them one more time but Addison's has definitely failed my last 3 times. read more

Good food...jalapeño pork chops are my favorite. On the other hand their hostess staff and manner in which they deal with seating parties needs some major improvement. We had a party of 6 told we had a 45 minute wait. No big deal there...problem is there is an empty booth that can easily seat 6, with 2 parties of 6 ahead of our group I ask the hostess why one of those parties hasn't been seated there when she had just told me that the next group of 6 was all present and ready to be seated. The hostess proceeds to tell me they are holding it for that party, I just mentioned. What part of there's a table and party ready means don't seat that party? Hostess "we didn't want to seat the party of 6 ahead of the party of 4 in front of them in line". Ok well seat the party of 4 then!!!! Or just make everyone wait for no reason...or do the sensible thing and if you aren't going to let the party of 4 sit in that space go ahead and seat the party of 6 and let the party of 4 wait like you were going to make them wait anyways. Common sense goes a long way...the quicker you seat a party the quicker they can eat and make room for the next party in line. Properly trained or for that matter educated can make the difference in a review being 5 stars or 1. Thus the 1 star review!!! I often forget about Addison's because I'm more focused on Flat Branch, but everything that I've had here has been good. They have excellent cheese fries. I'm not sure what kind of cheese they use -- it might be a mix with some milder white cheeses (it comes so creamy, gooey, and delicious that I want to lick the plate!). They also have a really tasty deconstructed crab rangoon appetizer. Their burgers are superb, too (very juicy and actually came as ordered -- "medium"). Very disappointed in our trip to this bar. My wife and I drove 4 hours to go to the homecoming events and picked Addison based on its high reviews. It's been a long time since I've seen a restaurant so overrated. The service was better at hardy's for breakfast that morning than we received at this place. The waiter was slow, made several mistakes and generally didn't come around very often. The food was slow and my wife's pulled pork sandwich gave her food poisoning. After getting home she proceeded to empty her stomach for the next several hours before finally being able to go to bed. And we only drank water the whole evening. Suffice to say, after only getting 4 hrs of sleep after helping her this morning, we will never go back or recommend anyone to addisons. Check your food before you eat it! read more

What also makes this a very solid 4 rating is that the service is the best in Columbia! A number of restaurants in Columbia are hiring sub par employees that are inconsiderate and rude to patrons. Not so at Addison's! I now come here much more often based solely on friendly wait staff and hostesses. Went to Addison's to celebrate our son and future daughter in law's engagement. It's where they had their first date. When we told the manager our plans they set us up with a complimentary bottle of champagne. The service was outstanding and the food was so flavorful! I had the Chicken Philly Sandwich with mojito fries. Don't let the name fool you... no minty flavor. Kind of garlicky and all sorts of deliciousness! The sandwich was amazing! The hubs had the pulled pork sandwich which was also incredible! Oh, and I mustn't forget the appetizer. Can't remember the exact name, but it was also a barbecue pork and asiago cheese topping over pasta chips, which were to die for! I can't wait to return and try more dishes. The hamburgers and steaks looked amazing, too. Highly recommend this place if your palate is looking for something unique and delicious. Might be my "flavorite" place in Columbia! read more
