The best kept golf secret in the Richmond area! Don't go to a large golf shop ever again!!!!!!…read more If you want to feel listened to, appreciated and respected get your golf clubs from Hamilton's Pro Shop. They have an assortment of new and used clubs and they truly listen to you and think about what would be best for you and not just what kind of sale they can make. I found Hamilton's because I was at a large department store again and felt overwhelmed by all the new club selections and the lack of real knowledge of the sport. I just didn't feel comfortable. So I did a few google searches and found Hamilton's. There wasn't a website or even a review on yelp, but I called and the guy on the phone was very friendly and explained all the items they had at the store. Based on the conversation my husband and I left the big store and headed to Hamilton's . When we pulled up, I have to say I was a little concerned. It's located in a house and from the outside... it doesn't look like a place that would have so many items. But when you walked in you were treated like a family member and the selection was rich in both new and used options. The salesmen was the step-son of the owner, my husband provided him with an overview of my skills and the type of clubs we were looking to purchase. Not once did he try to tell us that I didn't need men's club. He provided us with options of different clubs that he thought I might like based on what I have been playing with and then took us to another building behind the main house to hit golf balls in the simulator. He let me try new clubs and used clubs. There was no pressure to buy new and he was more concerned about asking me how I felt using each club and encouraged me to focus on that and not anything else. He really made me feel comfortable and did not talk down to me. We had not planned on buying clubs, but we did. We ended up buying irons, hybrids and a putter. They were all used and we felt that we got a great deal. We weren't even going to buy the hybrids, but he heard me talk about how much I like using my husbands 3 hybrid and pulled out a set of used hybrids for me to try. I was so thankful.... they were perfect! He also shared that if I decide to get different clubs, I can come back and trade these in towards the purchase of a newer set. They will fit you for clubs and will also re-grip your current clubs. I can't tell you the last time that I felt so at ease with a purchase and I just want to tell everyone I know about how wonderful it was. He said the shop has been there for over 20 years, and I see why. I live about 45 minutes away, but it was worth every minute of the drive. I am a new golfer and going to a large sporting goods shop can be intimidating. My husband and I went to a large golf place in the west end of richmond and ended up leaving because of the way that I was treated. I am a beginning golfer, but I have played sports my entire life and have been using my husbands clubs. I tried a ladies club, but because I swing so hard, I didn't like the give in the shaft. The big named store only wanted to sell me the purple starter set or the pink set. I didn't like being pushed towards a type of club because of color. It was insulting and my husband was so angry at the way I was being treated he told the guy to leave us alone. We told him repeatedly that I wasn't looking for women's clubs, but he insisted on trying to tell me what I should get instead of listening to WHY I wanted the men's clubs instead. All the LPGA players swing men's clubs... this is not unheard of.... we finally just left and we haven't been back. Bottom line.... don't visit the large box stores again.... support small business not only because it's the right thing to do, but because it's the best service, quality and price in Richmond. My husband thought the same thing and plans on taking his clubs down there to get them re-gripped. Hamilton's Pro Shop has just created another loyal customer.

I was on the fence about dropping some serious money on golf lessons, but I knew that I not only…read moreneeded lessons but also needed to follow some sort of program. Ultimately it is well worth the cost. My coach Kevin D. is great. Kevin developed a plan and we worked through a lot of different swing issues. We even did a playing lesson out on the course. I love being able to come in and practice indoors when it is cold/hot outside. I have dropped 2 points off my handicap with the 15 lessons that I took. Looking forward to dropping it some more. Overall I would 100% do it again and I plan on extending my plan out when it's time. If you decide to go this route, you need to put the practice in, if you do not you will have wasted your money. You need to take what you learned in your lesson and practice it and get ready to focus on another topic at your next lesson. Thinking of cost, it is roughly the same as going to any legit PGA level golf instructor. The difference is that you have to pay it all up front at GolfTec. But the added benefit is that you get to come in and practice, using all the technology/equipment, and you do not have to pay for range balls. Final thought, I dropped some money on new golf clubs a year prior to starting at GolfTec. I wish I had taken that money and used it on these lessons first. I would have been much further along than I am now. It's funny that people will spend a bunch of money on equipment and then complain how bad they suck at golf. But they don't want to spend the money on lessons so they can use their shine expensive golf equipment. Just go and do it.

The property looked…read morealmost empty, but we still had to wait for the hard 4:00 p.m. check-in and were told our room was not ready. The stairs to our room looked worn out and run-down -- the first red flag. When we opened the door we were hit in the face with a strong mildew smell mixed with an overwhelming chemical perfume. Even my wife could smell it, and she lost most of her sense of smell after COVID. The carpet tiles should have been replaced about 20 years ago. I've been in the carpet business for 40-plus years. I know carpet. The rest of the room felt dated except for new ceiling lights. Housekeeping used so much perfume and cleaner to cover the old-carpet odor that it was over the top. Anytime I was in the room I felt dizzy. Dinner at The King's Arms was wonderful. That night we went to bed exhausted and woke up extremely dizzy and nauseous. I could not get out of bed until my wife went to CVS for Dramamine. We were supposed to take our daughter on rides at Busch Gardens that day. The Dramamine helped during the day. The second I walked back into the room, the spinning started again. I did not ask for another room that night because I assumed every room was treated the same. We booked the Woodland Inn, left most of our things at Kingsmill so we could catch the waterpark shuttle in the morning, spent the day at the waterpark, and came back to the same mildew, chemical smell, and dizziness. At that point I was sure it was the room -- not food poisoning, not heat. Online research confirmed those cleaning products can cause exactly this. We moved to the Hilton Garden Inn. Relief. I paid for two extra hotels out of pocket. Friends stayed here the week before. The wife said it did not feel clean and told us to go somewhere else. Her husband said it was nice. We should have listened to her. Four days later I am still dizzy and waking up with a headache. I emailed a manager. He said he talked to housekeeping, they noticed no chemical smell, and they work with those products every day. He took one night off the bill. I will not recommend Kingsmill. They spent millions on a spa and gym for residents and left guest rooms with old carpet and heavy chemical perfume. Do not stay here if you are sensitive to odors. Visibility is impossible to see people starting to coming out and it does not flow smoothly. If their intention is to keep the buffet there they really need to wide the entrance significantly to more than a doorway. They offered a flower at the close of the meal which was a lovely gesture. 9.24.25 Update My wife and I slept very well last night --…read morethe bed was very comfortable. We made bacon, eggs, and coffee in the morning (I forgot the bread at home, so no toast this trip). After breakfast, we enjoyed some time on the patio before heading out for a walk. We stopped by the pool area at the main building. Staff told us that the pools are heated at the main building, we were surprised to learn the pool we loved on previous visits (with the great kids' area) is no longer heated. That was disappointing since we really enjoyed it before. I tested the main pool water -- it was cold, and even the indoor pool was chilly. It showed in the turnout too: only one person in the outdoor pool and nobody in the indoor pool, compared to how busy the other heated pool used to be. It's surprising that Marriott wouldn't keep the pools consistently warm, especially when guests clearly used them more when heated. I guess we'll have to see about going somewhere else. We'll see what happens tomorrow with our presentation -- though it still feels strange to have to sit through one when we paid for this package.

Some were there to find something to add to their bag and others were there to shoot the breeze. While assisting and catching up with regular patrons, Jay took the time to educate me on how to regroup my clubs so I could maybe try to do them myself next time and also give me some insight on general club fitting. It's a small little shop (next to a decent driving range), but there is undoubtedly a sense of community here. Between the patron who was trying out all sorts of clubs from the available selection to the gentleman who wanted to dibs on the next shipment of a particular brand of clubs that was coming in that week. TL;DR - Come for the service. Stay for the people.

If you're like 99% of golfers out there, you think about whether your clubs are fitted for your swing, yet you do nothing about it. If you're like any golfer, you want to improve your golf game. And if you want to play your best, it starts with getting golf clubs fitted for your swing. (Then perfect your imperfect swing and keep it consistent.) I'm vertically challenged so I've know for years that I needed I clubs slightly shorter than standard. Speaking of standard, there's a different standard for each manufacturer, so there can be some confusion from the start. Even after gripping down on the club, we found that I still needed my clubs flattened. Mike walked me through what changes need to be made, adjusted one club to show me the difference, demonstrated the changes/benefits, and went to work on the rest of my set. He showed me the numbers, the various angles for all the clubs fine tuned to my swing, and after fixing my set, shared that even the manufacturer didn't even have their angles consistent. Just these changes alone has me excited to golf more competitively this year. Along with club fitting he can regrip your clubs, too. At one point in time, Mike was named one of the top 100 club fitters in America. So you and your golf clubs will be in good hands.
