The spot is in the newly renovated shops across from Town Center that was formerly a Bed Bath and Beyond. The store will be in a strip with Trader Joe's soon to open next month and ABC liquors. No issues with parking at this point. The new store opened this week with Grand Opening this weekend, the kick off at 9 AM Friday will give 100 lucky customers gift cards worth up to $500. Through the weekend there will be fun with closest to the pin contest to win prizes. I was greeted by an army of friendly staff eager to help. Staff explained the layout of the store. Men's merchandise to the left, women to the right. The performance center is in the rear where you can practice your drive with interactive screens. They also have a designated pro's room that customers can hire. The displays were magnificently laid out. All the major golf brands are represented. They have everything and anything a golfer could dream of wanting including a pro shop for service including grips. I plan to come back this weekend with more time and hope to score on a few prizes too! Every single staff I ran across engaged me in a helpful way. Expect Golf Galaxy to be a force in Virginia Beach.

Ever since I found out that Club Champion came to Virginia Beach, I was very anxious to see what it…read morewas all about. I am a daily listener to Sirius XM's PGA station and would constantly hear about "Club Champion" and GET FITTED! Well with a "not so great" fitting in the past (different company all together), I decided to make a visit when they first opened. When I found out that Cyndi Carlson came over as a master fitter, I was excited as I have several of my personal clients that referred me to her in the past at a different location. After about a year since the Virginia Beach location opened and having a true battle with my previously fitted clubs, it was time to get serious and so I made my appointment to fit my irons with Cyndi on 5-12-20 Upon arrival to the location, I followed the sign that was on the door to respect the COVID-19 rules and she offered me to sit and wait in the waiting area or in my car as she was wrapping up a fitting before my arrival. I was in no rush so I decided to wait inside as we all respected the social distancing (it was only 3 of us). I took the time to absorb the place, the vibe, the products, and hinted to her not to rush the other client. After about a 15 minute (very relaxed wait), it was my turn!!! She started off by allowing me to warm up and do what I needed to do while she cleaned and disinfected everything that would be touched which was very nice. She then asked me of my concerns, what was going on, etc. After a brief summary and her explaining the difference of what I was about to experience, I was ready to fire away. I started with some warm up swings as she was calmly getting a feel of things and then it was go time. The six iron of my own set came out and it was nothing but constant communication thereafter. I truly felt like she enjoyed trying to figure out my swing of power, recovering from a back injury, a poorly fitted set previously that changed my "swing" to compensate to the clubs...etc etc, but she was dialing it in like a true expert. Once we found the shaft and head, we had a battle of the two prospects until the clear winner emerged (which didn't take long) and then it was the grips. All of it was eye opening. We then went to the build order and finally the cost. She did an amazing Job breaking it all down as to why it was what it was going to be and made it a no pressure situation to buy or not. What it came down to was that walking out and not following through would have done myself a dis-service and wouldn't truly see the results of what we just did nor inherit the benefits of being a Club Champion member! I contacted the wife and pulled the trigger! I was very nervous because it was a bit of money straight up but I was very confident that when I receive these clubs, I will be able to hit my shots the way I always envisioned them to go. Only problem I will have now is that I feel I will have to change my distances and adjust to that because I will clearly be 20 yards longer on every club I previously hit. A GREAT PROBLEM! Cyndi, Club Champion and this experience was truly amazing. I wish I could work here and learn the trade as the feeling of seeing what just happened has to be a rewarding feeling. I will totally refer my golf buddies or anyone interested in the game to come here as they have no idea what they are missing...or maybe not so I can keep my advantage on them (hehehe). Great Job!!

I had been concerned about finding parking, having never been there before, so I called whileI was on my way. However, parking was not difficult, so I didn't need to do this. It was nice that he offered. I mean what if it was raining, cold and windy, or snowing? Caleb said that their busiest time of year is in late fall through winter. I did a long game club fitting and about 2.5 hours was allotted for the time of our appointment. It ended up being about 100 swings which became physically tiring. They have water on site and snacks that are complimentary. I suggest you bring a personal fan as that would help to cool off during your breaks between swings. They keep the office at 70F, but swinging a golf club for 2 hours can get warm. Caleb was very friendly and informative. We tried out about 6-8 different shafts and about 5 club heads until the right combination/match was found. He talked me through the pros and cons of the changes he was making. He also used the software from Trackman to analyze swing speed, ball speed, carry distance, estimated landing distance, and shock value ratio. The session ended up with choices to be made about what to upgrade. He provided the breakdown of the costs involved and how shipping is handled, etc. He stated he keeps all the information in his computer system so decisions can be mulled over, revisited, or revised it if you decide to come back in for another visit fresh and not tired. Trying out multiple products gets tiring so don't feel you have to make up your mind immediately... you are not in a high pressure sales gimmick. I intend to return for a putter analysis.

I bought a pair of sunglasses that I still have to this day. I miss the location in VB Town Center. It was one of the best, especially when it had the Rockwall. An employee named Darren ran the Rockwall almost 20 years ago and he works at the Lynnhaven Dicks store in the shoe department. My daughter needed new shoes for a camping trip and Darren, as usual was awesome! Lots of great knowledge and advice and patience. She found some New Balance that was perfect and the right price. Darren's customer service skills are unmatched and I'm so glad that he was there to help us. The chain carries a lot of name brands like Adidas, Nike and Hoka's. The overall store in my opinion has not been as strong, but the selection has been every bit as good. They like others have cut back on staff and it can be challenging to get help when shopping. Customer service is not nearly what it used to be. When checking out the cashier was downright not friendly. So this four-star is much more about a single experience with Darren than the overall store experience through the years. If you need some shoes, ask for Darren.

Play It Again Sports buys and sells gently used sports items was the draw for my family. we've probably shopped there about 40 times in the past 10 years on the type that I want to inform and give the full picture out of the 40 times we shop there I would say 37 of those times we left satisfied and found what we needed but th two terrible experiences with Play It Again Sports had nothing to do with thestaff of the store the cleanliness of the store or the ability an inventory of the store the terrible experiences one I was shopping there alone. I was the only customer in the store and the owner and one employee when I walked into the door the owner was verbally assaulting the female employee. I didn't hear what was being said exactly but, what I did see was the female employee could not have been over High School in age and she was in tears the owner of the store was speaking disgusting words to her and when I left I felt very uncomfortable and felt sad for the employee I never shopped there without my husband again the second two should never be said and my second bad experience was yesterday when my family was in the parking lot before we went in the store we saw homeless gentleman sitting under the one tree in the blazing hot parking lot he was picking up trash that was around him he was not verbally interacting with patrons he was simply sitting alone he was wearing pretty much Rags as a shirt holding a rosary and saying his prayers he looked defeated he was not smoking cigarettes or drinking like usual homeless people do he also was holding a sign but his sign did not say the typical homeless need money his sign only said one word "help" He was not on playing against Sports property the only connection he had to the store was when you walked out the front door if you have eyes you couldn't miss him it's hard to miss a gentleman wearing rags in this 100° Heat he was the only one sitting down he looked defeated and as we left the owner was walking out the door and the owner made sure he told the gentleman he didn't like having to walk out of the store and his eyes having to look at him the owner said it's not a good look to have you near my store I was blown away it wasn't like the homeless guy was bothering Play It Again Sports is patrons or littering out front of his door or drinking smoking cigarettes the homeless guy was picking up trash sitting alone saying his prayers and holding a sign that just said "help" at 10 years of shopping in the store even though most of my experiences were positive .It's sad that the owner is the common denominator of my two bad experiences.Usually you would see its the staff or the cleanliness or lack of inventory makes the experience negative. I do hate that I'll have to drive an hour across the water from Newport News to go to a different Sporting Store but I can't in my right mind give my money to an owner of a company that feels that he is so Superior to every human that he can't even stand having to look at someone less fortunate than himself I would hope that anyone that does read this whole post ask himself you could be that homeless guy and can you imagine when it's 100° outside and you already feel defeated someone to come out and tell you that you're bothering him because he has to look at you.

The employees inside are super friendly and super helpful. The parking can be a concern but if you go at a good time during the day you are able to find parking if no spots are available other parking is available within walking distance so no issue. Around the holidays parking can be an issue nevertheless you are definitely going to find something for your sports fanatic fan here from a pen to a hat. I'm glad shops of this sort still exists where you can put your hands on items and purchase. Have fun and enjoy life :)
