DO NOT EVER COME HERE!!! Dropped an extremely expensive dress off here for my brothers wedding, and when I came back to get it the day she said it would be ready, no one was there. I have gone to the store 4 times, called a dozen times every day, I left a note in the door begging for my dress back, and no answer and no sign of anyone. I can see my dress sitting in the back of the store. It has been almost two weeks and my brothers wedding is in just a few days. Dropped off pants for a hem. Said they would be ready at 2pm. The owner just closed shop when I got back. Called next day for their hours. Said they close at 2pm. Arrived at 1:30 to find them closed. At least 6 people came to the shop when I was there to find them closed. Lights on, open sign illuminated...door locked. Don't waste your time going to this clothes repair shop. I brought a gown in to be shortened. It had a crepe overskirt. When I picked it up, the underskirt has been cut 6 inches shorter than the crepe! The normal difference is about 2 inches. Needles to say, I'll never go back. read more

Great spot! Because of my body shape I buy jeans a size too large and have the waist brought in to accommodate my lower half so every time I buy new jeans or need a dress taken in to be more form-fitting, I come here. The woman I usually work with is kind and efficient and they do exactly what I need them to do. I typically dont go in with clothes that I need done ASAP so I can't speak to how quickly they can get a job done because I normally just say I'll pick it up in a week to give them time to do it. Last thing, the prices are good for what I get done- not sure if they're the cheapest in town but they are close to where I live and considering I'm getting clothes adjusted to fit my body perfectly for under $20, I think it's a fair investment. Will continue to frequent this shop as long as I'm living in Gainesville. read more

Horrible experience with this company. My fiancé took his suit for our wedding to be altered at this Ada's location. When asked when he needed it to be ready, he asked what was best for them. They agreed upon a date for him to pick up the suit. He paid for the alternations in advance, as required, and also added 20% gratuity in good faith. The day the suit was supposed to be ready, they called and said it wouldn't be ready until the next day, so he should come the next day. Okay, no big deal. He arrived the following afternoon to pick up the suit and not only was it not ready, but he was told the jacket was still in pieces, and the sleeves hadn't even been reattached. Pretty frustrating, but still not the end of the world. He then went back the next day to pick up the suit (yesterday afternoon). It was ready, but he noticed there was a large crease on the front of the jacket, as well as what looked like some wrinkling and "bubbling" on part of the front of the suit and underneath the lapels. This suit was purchased brand new from Nordstrom online, and none of that was there before. When he inquired with the staff about this before leaving the shop, they said they didn't know what that was, but that he should take the suit to the dry cleaner. We were pretty frustrated because this isn't just a suit to wear to any old function - it's for our wedding, which is being professionally photographed, and the bubbling and wrinkles in the material are visible when photographed. We took the suit to Men's Wearhouse last night because we needed to exchange a shirt and tie there anyway, and we asked the Store Manager there to take a look at the jacket. She stated that she knew exactly what had caused the bubbling we were seeing on the suit, as she has seen it many times in her years of experience. She indicated that the tailor must have ironed or pressed the jacket and left the heat on it too long, causing the glue between the lining and the front of the suit to melt, leading to the bubbling. She said she could attempt to steam it lightly and smooth it out, but that it likely wasn't going to improve it much, and that adding additional heat would really only worsen the problem. She also said the suit will pretty much degrade over time and that we should ask the tailor to reimburse us for the jacket. Today my fiancé went to the tailor first thing this morning to show them the damage to the suit again, and to let them know what another professional had informed us about the damage. The tailor denied causing the damage and stated it must have come that way from the manufacturer. Upon my fiancé insisting that was not the case, the tailor became extremely frustrated and basically threw a temper tantrum, yelling and insisting this is not her fault and she didn't do anything to the suit. He further tried to explain to her that we don't believe she did anything to the suit intentionally, but that mistakes happen, and we really felt it was only fair for them to reimburse us for the suit jacket. She became further irate and refused to do so. The tailor admitted to ironing the jacket but said she did not iron the front of the jacket at all, just the sleeves and the back. The Store Manager from Men's Wearhouse offered to go to bat for us and attempted to politely speak to the tailor as one professional to another, indicating what she had observed on the jacket and what she believed caused the damage. The tailor got more upset and refused to speak to her. After both my fiancé and I asked to speak to the owner multiple times, the tailor called him to come to the store. The owner showed up and was also very unprofessional, refusing to acknowledge there could possibly have been any damage caused by them, and stated they would not reimburse us for the jacket or even for the alterations. I strongly recommend avoiding this place for any alterations at all. I can't say we have any complaints about the actual alterations that were done, but they caused damage to a $300 jacket that's part of my fiancé's wedding suit, and we are completely appalled at the terrible customer service at this place. Rude, unprofessional, doesn't know what she's doing !!! Takes forever to get clothes done and definitely not ready when it's supposed to be

I've had things altered here twice. The first time I gave it a shot was to get a pair of pants hemmed, and they did an acceptable job. I think it was because it was the woman that works here. She's A-OK. The second time was to get the waist on a pair of pants taken in, and they did a terrible job. I called at the time they quoted me, and the owner(?) told me he had essentially forgotten about them. He didn't start working on them until I got there. It took about five minutes. It was uneven and obviously crap. I probably would have given up on them from this alone. It got worse. I've had two card numbers stolen immediately after patronizing Ada's. The first time was a debit card that I only swiped here. Nothing but Bank of America ATMs and Ada's. The second time was a credit card. I thought the first time might have been a fluke. That, and I work right up the street and my regular tailor - Jacquelyn Brooks! She's great! Doesn't steal! - was closed for a week. Anyway, it wasn't a fluke. Both times I paid, it was the owner(?) - the guy - that swiped the cards. I'll never take anything here again. There's no way to prove Ada's stole my numbers, but the shoddy work and forgetting about my job are enough on their own without the whole attempted grand theft deal. read more

I was very satisfied with their work. My friend had cut open her romper and we went to get it fixed. They finished the garment in 30 minutes and I was charged 5 dollars for it. I would go again for any future repairs. read more

I've had a single pair of pants hemmed here. 12 bucks seems high for that - but the work was OK. Now really bummed that the older lady on Main St closed up shop. Plus they inexplicably charge sales tax on labor. This type work is specifically exempted by Fla Law and they need to be reported for that. read more

Spent $17. w/tax to alter new pants with a folded cuff. I explained - in detail - what I was in need of - left my new pants with this establishment. NEVER again. May I suggest a different alterations shop - 43rd street or 16th ave because this is not the place for me to return. read more

I took in a pair of dress pants to have taken in at the waist.... First of all, it cost me $30 for the alteration. 2nd- the pants were not ready when I came to pick them up at the time they told me to come pick them up. 3rd- the fit was not the best and when I tried to explain this to the seamstress, she simply said "they look great!" Having tried others, I have had Ada's due my alterations for eight years, and alterations come out perfect.

Absolutely love this place! I have been using them since 2009. This place is by far the fastest and least expensive place to go for alterations or repairs. Often times if I ask early enough in the day she can do it same day, but she usually gets it done by the next day if I don't need it the same day. I have NEVER had any issues with her work and like I said I have been coming here religiously since 2009. I have gotten bulk items for my store repaired here (quilted bags), scrubs, bridal wear, pants, you name it and she does it. She doesn't speak very good English, but you can definitely communicate with her and she always understands what I want/need. read more

These ladies are a godsend! I dropped off a uniform I needed for 5pm on a Monday at 11:30am that same day and they were able to fix issues created by another place in town and have it back to me early. I walked in and dropped my garment on the counter and the nice lady looked at it and told me what was wrong. I told her I needed it very quickly and explained what happened. She smiled and told me it wouldn't be a problem and to come back by 5pm and she'd have it. I called at 3pm and asked if they were still on time for 5pm and she said it was done and I could come get it then. I can't recommend this place enough and plan to drop a more difficult item to them soon. I'll update with how they do on that! read more

Took four dress pants to be hemmed-men's-on a Tues., was told they would be ready the next Tuesday. Went to pick them up-had not been touched!!! She hurriedly fixed one pair so that I could wear them for a funeral, said she promised the others would be ready by Thursday-NOT!! Took two more weeks!!! Will not take anything else to this location, and do not take your items there!!!! read more

I have been coming here for many years. The people are always friendly and the prices are decent. The last three times I've dropped off clothes for alterations I've had some issues. They seem to be horribly understaffed and the clothes are never ready on time. The last time I had to come back three times before the shorts were ready to go. They do good work but the owner needs to pay for some help because that nice Asian woman is going to work herself to death. read more

Ripped my Perry Ellis dress pants at a wedding earlier this month. A friend recommended Ada's to me. As soon as I got there I was greeted with a smile and my pants were immediately taken care of. I was told the stitching would be finished in 20 minutes but they were done in less than 5. I am greatly satisfied with this level of service and will definitely come back! Took my bridesmaid dress here for alterations. They were on-time and the work was great! When I went to pick up my dress and tried it on, it was a bit tight but I needed the dress in 3 days. DO NOT GO HERE. WORST TAILOR EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I went into this store on Thursday and I had to get a dress and a pair of pants tailored. Originally, the lady or manager (not sure what she is) who is the only person that works there was very nice and accommodating. All I had to do was get these 2 things shortened and she tried charging me $50. Because I am a kid I thought she was taking advantage of me so I fought back and she ended up taking money off because she knew she was wrong. She promised to have them ready by Tuesday because I needed them for Tuesday night. I give her my phone number and then I come back on Tuesday. I call ahead to ask if it will be ready because she assured me it would be ready by 2 and it was now 3, and she gets on the phone and starts saying a bunch of things in Chinese that I didn't understand and then hangs up. I was confused but went anyway, expecting my items to be ready. When I get there, she basically pretends she doesn't know me. My clothes are sitting there on the table, not done, with pins in them and the bottom of my dress cut off which was NOT what I asked for. She pretends she does not understand what I'm saying when she was definitely able to understand English when I first went there on Thursday. She basically ignores me as I am visibly frustrated and upset that my items are not ready. All she says is that all the machines are broken and then continued to go on her phone and watch videos and pretend that I was not there. I was demanding my money back as she not only did not do what I asked but also did not have my things ready in time. If every single machine really was broken she could have called me beforehand to let me know. I kept asking what I should do and she would do a shoo-ing motion with her hand, basically telling me to leave. As I already paid I was definitely not going to do this. I demanded a refund and she kept saying "no" and "I don't know" because I didn't have my receipt. Finally, I get a picture of my receipt and she then said I can go behind the desk and do it. So I take it upon myself to go behind the counter and try to give myself a refund on this ancient computer system they had there. I had no idea if it worked or not but I ended up just taking my clothes and storming out and I will 100% be calling the credit card company to dispute this charge. While all of this was going on her and another customer who also spoke Chinese were laughing at me and were undoubtedly saying disgraceful things. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want your clothes to be cut up and have marks and pins on them when you are supposed to be picking them up. I have never experienced worse customer service in my entire life. This place should be shut down! I felt so disrespected and that is never how a customer should feel. read more

They were junk. Posted on both stores becuase I used both. Both places were way too expensive and it didn't even fit. I had to take it somewhere else. They really were not worth the time or money. You'll just have to spend more money to fix what they put their hands on. read more

I didn't have a "bad" experience at Ada's, but I paid the extra $5 for a rush job at around 10am and was told to come back at 5pm for pick up. I came back and they hadn't started the work. No biggie, 15 minutes later, I left with my pants. Everyone was nice and I would definitely go back if I need any clothing altered. read more

They do okay work but are pretty expensive ($12 - $16 to have pants hemmed) and they have really limited weekend hours.

If I could give this store a negative rating, I would. I have since followed up with the Better Business Bureau as this woman at Ada's was not willing to refund my money nor repair HER mistake. The first time I went in there, it was for a small mend in the arm of my husbands work sleeve. It was a MINOR repair. The work was so botched that my husband refused to pay for the balance until she repaired the tear properly. Which she finally did after several days and some coaxing. Three weeks later and a ridiculous looking patch, the tear has ripped again. I went in today to say hey, give me my money back and all she could do was scream at me that this was a new hole and it was my husbands problem for wearing it improperly. ?? Well, she didn't say improperly as I'm sure she doesn't know that word. A seven-year old would have done a better job. Shame on her for wasting our time and refusing to do anything about it. Please don't waste your time going there. She is one rude person. read more

Never will go there again. I had a small L-shaped tear in a pair of pants. I asked if they could re-weave the wool.They said they would patch it. Now there is a very large l-shaped swath of solid stiching on the outside in thread that doesn't match at all. To make it worse the stiching is all bunched up to make it that much more noticable. I could have done a better job with a little iron on patch or even tape. Plus - they were unfriendly. So much for my best suit... read more
