Maria is an amazing seamstress to work with. She did an amazing job on my wedding dress. I can say my dress fitted me gorgeously too. Definitely recommend her if you need your wedding dress altered

Maria did an amazing job on my daughters wedding gown and she saved her a ton of money by suggesting a slip so we didn't have to have it hemmed. We have used her in the past and wouldn't recommend anyone else!

My worst experience with a suit altered ever…read more When I walked in the door, I told the woman behind the counter that I wanted the hem of the jacket and pants to be taken up by 3 1/4 inches. She said 1/4 inch. I said no, 3 and 1/4 inches. She said 3/4 inches. I said no. 3 and 1/4 inches. "Too short. You try on". I should already have walked out, but I had more errands to run and didn't have time to find a different tailor. She didn't know that 40 years ago, my girlfriend now wife taught me to sew, but I shouldn't have to give her my resume for her to believe me. I guess she couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that some men know how to sew. So I tried my jacket on. She adjusted the sleeve and I said 'No. Shorter'. She had adjusted the sleeve as it were a shirt, not a jacket. I learned proper sleeve lenght from Frank Sinatra. I had to say 'shorter' 3 or 4 more times before giving up. I picked it up to find she hadn't even bothered to replicate the vent in the sleeve. She just hemed it, replaced the buttons and charged me 60 bucks. Zero out of ten. Will NEVER go again.

I am glad to hear that others have had good experiences with QT's, however, I did not. This review…read moreis more meant to give a heads up to others who use them as a tailor (not meant to criticize the owners, as obviously others have had good experiences). I brought in a blazer I needed tailored for a suit I was wearing to an interview in a few weeks. The blazer fit everywhere except for the waist which was boxy and too big. I tried on the jacket, we noted that the arms, shoulders, etc all fit great but that it would be taken in at the waist. The tailor pinned the jacket. I paid a little over $50 for the alteration all up front. While I was a little weary on paying entirely up front, the good reviews gave me confidence that this would be fine. About a week later, I came by, picked up the jacket and was on my way. When I got home I tried it on and realized that the area around my arms/arm pits felt very tight, even though when I brought it in it fit perfect. I brought the blazer back and tried to speak with them about the issue. Immediately they became very defensive. Told me they didn't touch the arms and didn't even sew the sides. Claimed that all they altered was the back seam (which seemed impossible given that they only pinned the sides when I came in and that the sides had a completely different shape than before). Kept offering to open up the jacket to prove that they didn't touch the arms. I tried to explain that I didn't think they sewed the arms, but rather that the way they took up the sides must have affected the opening of the arms. Upon opening the jacket, they saw that they did in fact take in the sides and back seam. They claimed, however, that this is the only way this alteration can be done and that the arms of blazers just aren't comfortable and that it's normal for them to feel tight when you reach forward or move your arms. Obviously, this is not true. After going back and forth they agreed to let out seams below the arm back to the original size. I came back a few days later and found that they had let out not only the upper seam, but also part of the waist- essentially putting the blazer right back where it was when I first came in. Again, they were very defensive and argued with me. Eventually we came to an understanding (so I thought) that they would adjust it again- making sure that the underarm area was let out and the waist would be taken in. I came back a few days later and still the arms were tight- but I gave up. This time they claimed that the arms were tight when I brought it in (even though I know this is not true) and also again, that blazers aren't meant to be comfortable. I'd wasted too much time, gas, and energy trying to get them to do a standard alteration. I told them I was disappointed in the quality of work, but that I didn't think there was any way I could explain the issue differently. So, in the end I am left with a blazer that looks better than before but fits worse. I think a simpler alteration like a hem or a dress would likely be just fine. However, if you are the type of person that has a hard time speaking up about corrections or does not have the time to come back more than once I would not suggest coming here. The best way to judge a business is not when things go well, but how they react when things go south and for that reason I cannot recommend them.

I wish I had taken a before picture…read more This small shop is located right between the Kangaroo gas station and mini mart on 16th street. If you are heading west, it is right before Main Street and if you are heading east, it is right after Main Street. The shop is run by Ms. DeLoris - or Ms. D - who has been a seamstress for 20+ years. As the only one running the shop, I recommend coming in with some degree of patience if there is a line. She will take the time to help multiple clients at once, but with her recent hip surgery, it might take some time, BUT it is WELL worth the wait. Purely on a whim -and honestly out of desperation- I went in on a Tuesday with three suit jackets that needed to be tailored before a major business conference the following Wednesday. She sent me to the back of the store where there are 2 (possibly 3) dressing rooms and mirror. She fitted the jackets to me as we talked clothing in general and she told me she would have them ready by the Tuesday. Now, I can't lie. I was a little worried. Ms. D is a sweetheart, but as the sole seamstress with a high demand based on her shop, I wasn't sure if she would meet the deadline in time. HOWEVER, the following Tuesday came around and I called the number on the business card provided to check on the three jackets. Ms. D told me that they would be ready by 8:00 pm, and if earlier, she'd give me a call. At 7:00pm, I got the call and came in to pick them up. My jackets were PERFECT. I honestly almost cried considering the horror stories out there about bad alterations. I cannot say enough about how nice of a job she did and how the jacket fit in comparison to before. It was the confidence boost needed to nail an interview with a company at the conference. A $90 well spent ($30 per suit jacket)! The only caveat to this shop is that it is only open for walk in drop-offs/consultations from I believe 4:00pm - 6:30pm. HOWEVER, if needed, a simple phone call is enough to let her know if you need to come earlier or later. She worked with me after hours as a first time client and I am sure, with kindness and patience, she would do the same for anyone else.

I lived in Gainesville, FL at the time and began looking for my dress but to no avail. I visited: Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Tallahassee, but I could not find any dresses that were close to what I was looking for. Finally, a sales consultant informed me that my taste was a couple years ahead of the local trends and that I'd have to go to a major metropolitan area and pay an arm and a leg if I wanted to find what I was looking for. Frustrated and quite frankly, pretty bummed out, I thankfully remembered Jacquelyn Brooks Designs. I contacted her, sent photos and asked if she could design something similar for me. The dress was absolutely perfect, greatly exceeded my expectations and fit within my budget. Jacquelyn really saved the day and I really am thankful that she could work with me on such a special occasion. I have recommended her to many brides in the area and would recommend her to you, as well!

The owner/designer has major attitude bordering on disdain for us even though we look like young decent professionals. Maybe because we are not her targeted clientele, which seems to be sorority girls and upper society ladies from Haile Plantation Country Club. Price was decent - altering a dress shirt costs $25 each and turnover seems to be about 1 week. But we won't be coming back after picking up the shirts, even if her skills are excellent. I will take my business somewhere else where I am not treated with disdain.

It's located on 34th street in the plaza with Winn Dixie, so it's not too far from campus or 35th street. It's ran by an Asian woman who is very nice and I can tell she has been sewing for years. I needed one of my boyfriend's pants hemmed tighter around the thigh and calf area without cutting any material. She has you try on the clothing in one of the dressing rooms in the shop and then stand in front of the mirror so that your clothing can be pinned. She gave me her opinions on what should be hemmed and how the pants should fit, which was helpful! I also needed the pants done in 2 days time (which is considered a rush job) and she said she would have it done with no extra charge! I know other places would have charged an arm and a leg, so that was awesome! I've also had her sew the straps on my dress tighter and she did that for $15 in two days! The reason I am giving this place only 4 stars is because there are no set prices or a price list to look at. You have to physically bring in the clothes so she can tell you a price - which is fine, but I would at least like to see an estimated price list so I know how much it will cost me and if her final price is way off than what it should be.
