I would choose a different salon... I asked for an angled bob, I showed several pictures of my hair previously (length, etc). The stylist (Kelley) ended up cutting the front pieces around my face way shorter by a half inch than the rest of the length of the hair? It looks terrible. I did want a shorter cut but not a bad cut, maybe I should have spelled it out for her (I guess I am not scissor literate or something but its just not a great cut). I probably should have realized this when they scheduled me for a next day service- there was no wait time? Either way there are better salons, I can probably trim my own hair to even it out but proceed with caution if you have not been here before. read more

Miranda's comments to my review are not accurate. She never responded with the product ingredient list after multiple attempts to reach her. I didn't reach out right away because I wanted to be seen by the dermatologist who specializes in hair loss first. What I should clarify and what I found to be unusual, is that she initially responded to say that after 30 minutes, the hair dye stops working and that peppermint was added to the product and some clients were complaining about it. Then she quickly deleted all of her messages and blocked me which seemed very suspicious. Luckily, I was able to obtain all the ingredients and found information on how long hair dye should be left on for and that over an hour is not the standard of care. The product line contains Ammonium Hydroxide and Toluene-2, 5-Diamine Sulfate which are not advised to be left on the scalp for that long without resulting in side effects. That is why my doctor believes the hair dye caused inflammation to the follicles resulting in hair loss. The hair dye was in direct contact with my scalp and follicles as she was doing gray coverage. I've never experienced hair loss with other hair dye as they were always left on for the standard amount of time of 30-40 minutes. It's unfortunate that there was no accountability taken for leaving the hair dye on longer than recommended. I'm sharing my story in hopes that others don't have this experience. read more

I am sooooo happy with my haircut. I came down here because salons are still closed here in Santa Clara County and I was desperate. I have long, pretty thick, kinda wavy hair. It had last been cut the beginning of November. I don't blow dry/straighten etc so it's pretty healthy. Desperately needed trimmed, layered, and thinned out. After a disaster in another salon I went from a shoulder length light highlighted blonde to a way-to-short (above my ears) one peachy color mess. We know a bad hair day...well this was a bad hair for months situation. I was referred to Mida and explained the situation. She listened. We both knew this would be a work in process to get back to good color with high and low-lights rather than the flat peachy toned color that had been applied. I left feeling better to have some correction so soon after 'the bad day.' I left the salon today after my third visit with a light shaping trim and more high/lowlights with great definition. Diana is extremely unprofessional. I was a transfer client from someone who left the salon. Upon my SIX hour process with Diana (in 12 years, the longest I've ever been in the chair for the EXACT same process is 3 hours!), she charged me DOUBLE what the other stylist did: they shared the same prices. I had no problem paying the amount but when Diana says that she thought the other stylist undercharged me, she should have discussed the change in fees PRIOR to beginning my hair, not after. I voiced this to her and booked my follow up appointment after discussing what the fees would be for a touch up. Diana left a message about 2 weeks prior to my next appointment but I could not make it out. I phoned the salon 4 times and Diana said she would return my call multiple times. She never did and I found out through the receptionist that she canceled my appointment. If you want to spend twice the amount of time and money for hair color (high lights and low lights) and possibly have someone cancel your hair appointment, Diana is the person for you! read more

A great salon! I have very fragile, difficult hair. Lucky for me, I have quite a bit of it. However, it requires great skill and attention to perm it, to color it, and to select the right cut. If any of these 3 areas don't get the right attention, it's a disaster. I have gone from place to place, salon to salon, even drove to San Francisco for a year (!) to get color and styling. I also tried out Palo Alto. Have lost track of the number of folks I went to here on the Peninsula. I am SOOOO grateful to have found Diana here. She is a magician with my troublesome hair. And just down the street from my house!! I'm sure Diana's associate, Miranda, is excellent as well. I can't imagine how anyone could go wrong at Adara Salon. read more
