Generally, everything about the hair cut was just "fine." It's a simple salon - not flashy or…read moreanything like that. I had made an appointment because I was used to making appointments months in advance at my last salon (I moved recently). It does not seem like appointments are necessary. The experience itself was lack luster - I got a wash, cut, and blow dry - which I find pretty standard. I found it odd that she didn't sit me down and take a look at my hair dry or ask me what I really wanted before taking me back, but every stylist is different. The wash was kind of rough, definitely not what I'm used to - which again, may just be a personal preference. The cut was simple - long layers. I told her where I parted my hair because she didn't ask but she told me she'd cut it center because it would look better that way and the part wouldn't matter (gentle foreshadowing - that made the cut look worse). When all was said and done I asked her to blend and soften the layers a little and she did, which I appreciated, but there just wasn't any saving the front - which is what I have to see every time I look in the mirror. The layers in the front on the side I part my hair to are short and harsh and just do not fall nicely. When it came to pay - cash only. Which, thank god I brought cash (maybe I missed something). The cut was $45 but the wash and blow dry was another 30. at that price point I would have been better off going to a Boujie salon for a much better experience and a little more money. Unfortunately I just don't think this is the salon for me. I'm so glad other people have such a great experience, but If you're looking for more relaxing salon vibes with the type of stylist to take the time to talk about what you like, I would not recommend coming here. In short id say this is Super Cut Quality with Fancy Salon Prices - just not worth it unfortunately.

That way there is room for social distancing. They check your temperature before entering as well. Masks must be worn and there are clear panels that section off areas for cutting hair. They do an excellent job at keeping the shop clean and hygienic for customers. Last time I came here for a hair trim, Maria cut my hair. This time Esmerelda (Esme) was my stylist. She did an amazing job. Esme is was friendly and very sweet. If you refer back to my first review, I am very particular when it comes to cutting my hair. Nothing crazy but I've had one too many incidents where stylists got too happy with the scissors and chopped more than I asked. I failed to get her name but she was very nice and friendly when she answered the phone and said she had time for me. She did even call back later to ask if I could be there just a bit later as her previous person was running late. The salon was busy with clients on both sides of the salon. It was clean and bright. It was nice to get pampered just a bit while on vacation too! If we lived close by, I believe I would go back on a regular basis.

I had been a returning client of Alchemist Hair Studio and previously saw another stylist there who…read moredid my blonde successfully for over a year and serviced my hair overall since April 2025, but she moved, so I booked with Khammy. During my consultation, I explained that I wanted to maintain the cohesive blonde I already had, bring the same neutral tone underneath, and bring the blonde closer to my root. At first, with my hair freshly blown out, I thought something looked a little off but assumed I was just adjusting to the blonde being higher. Once I got home, looked more closely, and later washed and styled it myself, I could see the actual result: patchy, non-cohesive color with warm and cool tones throughout that did not blend together. It honestly looked more like an at-home color job than a professional salon service. When I initially reached out to Khammy, I was upfront that I did not want her doing my hair again based on how it turned out compared with what we had discussed. I had previously told her I planned to return for a haircut since there had not been enough time to do both services that day, so I wanted to be transparent about why I would not be coming back. I also contacted the salon separately through Instagram asking whether another stylist could correct my color and provided clear photos. I did not initially ask for a refund because I respected the time spent and product used. I then went days without a response from Khammy, and when she did respond, she repeatedly said she needed time to "process" the situation. The salon's Instagram never responded at all. Instead, I was blocked from their Booksy booking platform while their social media account continued actively posting. I ultimately decided to have my hair corrected elsewhere at my own expense. That is when I requested a refund. Khammy then pushed for a FaceTime or in-person appointment despite the documentation I had already provided. I declined and said I wanted to keep communication in writing. After I declined the FaceTime, Khammy maintained that the color looked fine, attributed the result to the state of my hair, and then said the photos I provided were "heavily filtered" and at that point, all she saw was me trying to "get free service" out of her. The photos I provided were Live Photos of my actual hair. I found those accusations insulting and unnecessary. Her response only reinforced why I did not want her working on my hair again. The blonde I was asking for had been achieved successfully on my hair before. If she felt during our consultation that the condition of my hair, the time available, or her ability to achieve what I wanted would be an issue, I would have preferred that she decline the appointment. I genuinely tried to be reasonable throughout this process, but the dismissive communication, lack of professionalism, and accusations made an already disappointing service significantly worse. I have the full history of the communication, including where there was no response, and I'm attaching before (with the wine glass) and after of my hair so people can see the result for themselves.

I absolutely loved my experience at Salon EightSeven!!! That scalp massage was out of this world!! Everyone needs to try this. I have seen only one bad review but that did not stop me from going. Ashley is truly talented. She is a hair magician and Im truly blessed to have found her. Lived here all my life and never really trusted anyone with my hair but Im so glad I gave her a chance. I have fine hair and she showed me product to make my hair thicker and fuller. My hair feels so healthy. I suggest that one bad review shouldn't turn you away. More positive reviews than negative. Salon Eight Seven is the BEST!!! Ashley Denning is an amazing hairstylist. She works with ALL hair types. I had very dry, curly unruly, unmanageable long coarse hair. She managed to work her magic and bring life back to my curls. I am extremely happy with the outcome and have received so many wonderful compliments. She has already had several of my friends and family members come in so she could work miracles on them as well. I feel that what I pay to get my hair done by Ashley is worth every PENNY!!! Ashley loves what she does and is really good at it. I appreciate the steps she takes to make sure she does not make a hair identity that doesn't fit the person. I went in and got a hair cut I loved, then color the following week. To all ladies out there, you have to be patient with your color. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not because it was a big change, but after a week of taking care of my hair and letting the color absorb, I absolutely loved it! I had a WONDERFUL experience with Ashley. We went into my appointment with a simple trimming, but I had been thinking about chopping it all off. I was happy that she listened to me and gave me good advice and opinions. The outcome was more than what I was expecting (the few times I have cut my hair short it was never what I truly wanted). He was so understanding of the purple mess that I was calling hair and worked with me to find the best option to tone down the purple/red and still get me a look/color that I actually wanted. He was so helpful and after we decided a color, he wanted to do a strip test to make sure I would like how the color would actually turn out. He was just so friendly, considerate and knowledgeable in how to fix what I had done and we talked the whole time so there was none of that awkward silence. He taught me so much about my hair and explained things to me so that he knew I understood exactly what was going on throughout the entire process. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely be returning here and recommending it to everyone!
