Nice staff who cut & style hair without frills or unnecessary waste. Typical haircut is done without a wash, but combines a wet (spray bottle) with dry cut for best result. Price is very fair & no time is wasted. Building is older & cramped, but the hairdressers do a lot of business in the small space. None of the space is wasted with waterfalls or products we don't need. Parking available on the street or in a small lot next to the building. If you need the overpriced pampering, pomp & circumstance, and frills... go somewhere else. If you want a haircut with basic style for a good price (Walk-Ins Welcome!), Scissor Shack is the place to go. read more

I've been coming here the last 5+ years now and my hairdresser is Fong. She knows my hair but sometimes her cutting is inconsistent. At times she takes longer to cut and other times she's super fast, like this past week she took less than 10 minutes and didn't accurately cut & shape my hair. But now side is longer than the other..oh boy!! read more

Always go here for a hair cut! We like Fung and Kelly. It's a family salon! Friendly and great customer service. Been a customer since 2010

Friendly and good quality for the price. I have a pixie cut, and they charge me the same as the men's price instead of the women's price - which I always appreciate. read more

I asked for long layers and she cut my beautiful long hair from what was to my waist to my fucking shoulders. Honestly thinking of a law suit, my layers aren't even good either, and she totally did everything carelessly. Huge health violation, as I was getting ready to leave I realized how much of other people's hair was around and unclean equipment. I can't even put my long Hawaiian hair in a bun anymore or a good looking ponytail, even if they repeat back to you what you want, they'll still fuck you up. I also only asked for a TRIM, she cut my hair 10 times shorter than what we agreed on. Run this business out. read more

Been going here for about a year. About 5 out of 6 haircuts I get are good ones. Every once in a while, I get one I'm not happy with. Theyre not really artists here but here but they do a decent job and the price is reasonable. It can get crowded sometimes so there's a reason for that. My only real issue with scissor shack is cleanliness. The place is actually kind of gross. There's hair everywhere. And I mean everywhere! They really need to shut down for a day and just do a deep cleaning of the entire space. read more

Stared taking my mother there for hair cuts years ago. She got cuts there at 106. They always accommodated her. After a few cuts are started getting my hair cut there. I live a few minutes away and they always got me in. Always got a good cut, and reasonable priced. read more

Speedy sweet accurate. No fuss no muss. Perfect for the haircut adverse like myself.

Walked in and was helped immediately without an appointment! Ladies there are so nice! Only $25 for women's haircut. I love my butterfly cut :) read more

Went for a haircut for my toddler and called them ahead of coming in to insure they were able to work on toddlers. My child sits very well for haircuts and moves minimally. I showed the woman a picture of what we wanted and she decided to not follow it at all. She actually didn't follow any hair cutting guidelines whatsoever. There was no blending, layers are blunt and uneven. She cut the hair twice as short as the picture showed and both the front and back come to a point. We were completely covered in hair because the cape kept sliding off and then she would pick up my little one to turn them and sit them back down on piles of hair. On top of it all she nicked them on the neck multiple times!! Worst haircut ever. read more

Kathy is the best hairstylist! First time here, I got a root retouch and trim.. She's friendly and sweet. Definitely going to see her every month. read more

Meh. Less than average. Despite pictures and showing exactly where to cut it to, they'll cut your hair as they see fit. No finesse, no texturizing. Just blunt whether it fits you or not. Good haircuts are expensive and this will run you $30. You get what you pay for I guess. read more

I really like this place. I had Kelly cut & dye my hair. She did an amazing job. I gor in right away. Overall great experience

This review is strictly based on men's haircuts. I left this place feeling like WTF. Such a half assed cut, the lady rushed through, did not cut the sides evenly. One was way longer than the other, also went from super short to super long, no blend at all. Maybe they are only good for scissor cuts, or if you get a solid number all around your head. I had been once before, and had a better experience, which was better than this time, but still way under the normal barbershop. Zero vibe at all, one of the chairs is directly in the sun, no fan or a/c in there. Would rather pay double the money than get the haircut I got for $24. I've been in a hat for 5 days straight already. read more

Very nice people except my haircut looks nothing like the picture I showed. Cut my hair way too short and especially the places I asked to not be cut. read more

Cathy did a good job with my sons hair. He is very particular about the style and she listened to what we wanted and kept checking in with him to make sure she was cutting his hair how he wanted it. Definitely going back. read more

Giving a positive shout-out to Scissor Shack Doesn't take much for a haircut on my bald head, but the extra little time around the ears and neck is appreciated. If I lived closer they'd be my regular spot. read more

This women are wonderful. They remember you and are kind and consistently give you a good 'do at a descent price. They also do facial waxing. The only thing I have a problem with is that they cut my hair, including my bangs, too short. It's hard to get that communicated right with a hairdresser. But they're my #1 choice still. If you're a man, it's a no brained. Even as a women, you will look much more presentable and wonder why you waited so long. Just be specific about how much you want cut. They're nice. I send people there. read more

I came here the other day and just left unimpressed with my $48 total for a trim. Pros: I was a walk-in and they helped me after about 15 minutes. It was Tuesday morning shortly after they opened so this might not be the norm. I had not had a haircut in 10 months and just wanted things trimmed up. Cons: I know $40 for a trim is standard for long hair but I felt like the salon was too old and run down. The atmosphere was adult and I'd expect a bit more upkeep with that price. She didn't really listen to how I usually part my hair to the side so it looked a bit off. I also didn't feel like my hair felt better. You know that feeling of how good it is after a cut? Definitely not this time!!! Conclusion: I wouldn't have gone here had I not been in a rush. They seem nice but I would expect more. read more

My Son was just given the most disgusting hair cut! The lady clearly knew what he wanted as he presented a photo and his hair looks NOTHING like it. She completely butched his hair AND it's extremely uneven all the way around. AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

This is my go-to spot for getting my lid all straightened out. Fong be doing magic in here. Sometimes they got a line but they move through it fast so you don't have to wait too long. Most of the time I don't bother setting an appointment but if you want a specific person then you should do that. This place is great read more

If you head to this salon for a haircut, ask for Kim! She is phenomenal. Super patient and delicate with your hair. She has a very gentle touch and is super sweet. She took her time with my wash/cut and was very attentive to detail. It's very difficult finding a hair salon since I'm constantly traveling, but I will definitely be back! I love having a personable hairstylist and she is incredibly personable! Thank you Kim! I'm very happy with my cut! read more

I was in desperate need of a haircut and was looking for a place to get it, when I saw Scissor Shack on Google. It had a lot of reviews and almost all of them were 5 stars, so I decided to give them a try. I was able to book an appointment the next day, even though it appears that walk-ins are always welcome and done quickly as well. Kim is the nice lady who did my hair. She did an excellent job at cutting my hair the way I wanted it. She was so gentle and it was very relaxing. I left the salon extremely pleased with my haircut and new bangs. I also love that the haircut didn't hurt my wallet. Overall, you cannot beat the quality of the haircut for the price. So thank you, Kim, and Scissor Shack! read more

This place has been around for over 20 years so they must be doing something right....and they are! Good cuts for good prices. They do more than just cuts (like color, highlights, waxing). Kathy did a great job trimming my hair and giving it back some shape. She also had good ideas to cover my grey with highlights rather than all over color. I'll be back! read more

Honestly I hate saying anything negative because they seem like nice people but the guy rushed through my hair cut and now I feel like I need to got a legit barber to fix my hair. My side burns and my hair line are uneven and looks horrible. He honestly just looked like he was he had no formal training. Honestly I did choose this place because it looked more affordable and I'm regretting that choice in hindsight. He was polite but I wouldn't recommend his services. Im pretty bummed. read more

I went to Scissor Shack for the first time today. The wait was pretty short, and the cut time was short as well. The woman who cut my hair didn't ask if I liked my haircut or let me check the back, she was rushing to get to the next customer, which disappointed me. Good haircut, nothing special. read more

Phung did a great job on my long thick hair. I'm very picky when it comes to hair dressers because I always want to trim my hair without getting it cut too short. I told her I wanted to keep it long, just trim it enough to cut off my dead ends & some layers to add volume & that's exactly what she did! Definitely will go to her again. I also recommend Kelly she never disappoints me either and knows to cut my hair w/ layers and without cutting it too short. Both ladies are friendly and sweet (: I never make appointments & the wait is always pretty short when I come in so it's great to be able to come in and out so quickly. I always leave a nice tip because they have such reasonable prices and do such a great job & I love that I don't have to spend $40/50 on my longer thicker hair at other over priced salons! read more

For men's and boys cuts, the shack is the best price in the area for a good quick cut. I'm in my 30's and get a gentleman's cut and it's always clean. Not a fan of paying $40 to $50 before tip for a slower lesser cut at the shops in PG and Monterey. I've had my hair cut here by every stylist, all equally clean and fast. Sometimes I'm in and out in 15min flat, they do women's styles as well which can cause a longer wait time but they get through lines quick. Always friendly, I drive from PG, and bring my 8yr old son. Men's cut $16 read more

Amazing experience here! Cuts are unfathomably cheap and they don't corners, she nicked my ear but IDC for $18 and a great cut can you really complain? I won't... As for being "unsanitary" whatever... It wassnt bad. It's not a $40 haircut so do you expect $40 experience? No... It's terrific for the price. read more

Scissor shack gives a quality cut. I am definitely happy with the speed and quality of my fade, my barber understood and accomplished what I requested. At a solid price of $14 there simply are no complains about the cut itself. Scissor shack does not appear to be the cleanest however and that is honestly where I find this place not to be 5 out of 5. Hair from the previous customer was not only on spread out all over the ground around my chair... it was also covering her equipment. And I mean statically covering the entirety of the trimmers. Kind of offputting. Station was also messy and covered with multiple people's hair. Sanitation is a concern, whether or not they barbacide/sanitize their equipment -especially their scissors - kind of makes me nervous to return. But man I got a good hair cut, and it is very conveniently located.. so I will probably continue to give them my business. read more

Great little place to get a haircut. 3 ladies usually here cutting hair, one is the owner. Moderate prices. They are good, highly rated, so you will probably end up waiting unless you make an appointment. In fact, I don't see any particular one of the ladies, they are all good. The only downside is that they have no wireless Internet. Update: Wrote the above while I was sitting with the tint on my hair...about the 4th time I have been here. I decided to have Kathy tint my hair, too, to save myself a little time since I usually do this myself. Sorry to say it turned out poorly; she fit me into her schedule and cut two other peoples hair while I sat with the tint on my head. It ended up way too dark, eyebrows are obviously tinted, dye marks on my ears. OK, lesson learned. Good place for a cut, but guys, if you tint be wary. read more
