Scheduled a flat bed tow via AAA to the body shop that did work for my classic car, ( that had just repainted the complete car in November). the guy loaded it up and then drove through branches of a tree that bordered our driveway then was unable to make a hard left out of the driveway on to the road . Thus as a result had to back up to make the turn, he backed up into the tree! This resulted in multiple scratches along the full length of the hood, left door and the tailgate that we could not buff out. We provided pics and 3 videos taken by cameras mounted on the house. So there was no question as to how those how the scratches resulted on the car. Owner ( Miguel) initially denied that scratches could be result of their incompetence , so the videos were provided to him. We never received a call back to discuss their rectifying the issue. Most probably will end up in small claims court to receive compensation. read more

Today i was at Piedra Blanca Trailhead and i was approached by an elder man who was in need of contacting AAA. Keep in mind the location where the car was broken down no cell phone service is available. I offered the man a ride where he could be able to get service for his cell phone. He contacted AAA and was Adamson will arrive in approx. 45 min. In short Adamson never arrived in about a 3 hour period. I recommend to everyone to avoid Adamson Towing as they are not reliable. My husband was in a minor car accident and Adamson's towing towed his car. They brought it to their location since the damage was significant and we were expecting the insurance to declare it a total loss. Our insurance kind of dropped the ball on that and didn't even get to looking at our file for a week, but Adamson's was nice about it and didn't give us any trouble. I wasn't there when they towed it but I did show up later to pick up my husband. I talked to the guys who were on duty and they were both very nice and easy going. Their office is in Ojai, not hard to find but I did drive by it the first time. From the main street you can just see their sign and not the office. Helpful and professional. My first experience with this repair shop was so top notch that I can hardly wait till the next 5,000 miles are up so that I can go back again! Nice atmosphere, waiting room, heck, the place even smells nice! It's tucked away in the industrial park area of Ojai, but it's also right off of Ojai Ave., past Chisum's on the left. Glenn, the owner, greeted me and introduced himself. He's a very personable man who literally rolled up his sleeves right in front of me. He has been in business there for 36 years! Took over at the age of 19 when his dad passed on. Such a sweet person. I will always feel comfortable bringing my car there for service. What a great experience! I'm truly blown away. Glenn showed me a list of all of the things that my car needed to have checked at 35,000 miles, and he repaired a tire that had a nail in it for free! I'm a huge fan. I had almost $2000 worth of damage done to my car by improper wiring work done here. Glen insists that the work is insured when you pay, to explain why it is expensive. But he was only willing to pay the base sum of $30 for his 'insured' work. My car runs great now and my mechanic swears that Glen was wrong to tell me it was safe to drive and that the wire damage he had to fix and replace is accountable to the last mechanic to look at it. AAA shouldn't endorse the monopoly they have on towing in Ojai if they can't actually back their work... read more

My truck broke down Ojai, 80 miles from home in L.A. I had the truck towed to Adamson's from The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, where I was for some corporate thing, but probably one of the most expensive places in town. Seemed like a recipe for a mechanic I don't have a relationship with charging someone from out of town who probably won't be a repeat customer a lot of money. Nope, Glenn Adamson, the owner, found me a cheaper remanufactured part instead of a new part from a local Nissan dealer (savings: $1,350). They came in $1 under the estimated price of service, finished the vehicle when they said they would, and were happy to have me pick it up or have AAA tow it to me in L.A. When I showed up in person to pick it up, he happily printed out a sheet showing me my future regular maintenance schedule. Friendly, honest, fast, truck is running great. 5 stars. read more

Just passing through Ojai for a vacation getaway, when I noticed a rattling sound above my tire. Came here bc of all the 5 star reviews. Thank the goddess for yelp, bc the mechanic Denis was outstanding. He looked at the car first thing in the am and fixed it for super cheap. Plus he noticed my battery was failing as my car started. I had just been to the mazda dealer in Glendale last week to get an oil change and full inspection--they missed that failing battery. The guys at adamsons are super honest, friendly and reliable. Not the same owner with solid, reputable reputation. Adamson's towed car to yard assuring that the yard was secure. Reiterating that no one has access but employees. Valuables were immediately taken from the car at yard arrival. Requesting to have personal items returned, all employees quickly exited the office and disappeared. Bad business practice to take advantage of individuals in a vulnerable position after serious accident. Be careful doing any business with Adamson's. Quickly they have a new reputation of theft from other consumers suffering the same fate. read more

Thought I'd give a quick update since it's been 2 years since my post - Adamson's is still the 'bomb'! I have told everyone about them from San Miguel to Simi! A quick funny, I had a friend (female) visit from Paso Robles, and she told me her car needed service (aka running hot, and some brake issues) that needed service when she got home. Me - go to Adamson's! I talked her into it, but money was tight for her. Adamson took care of her, and even gave her instructions on how her husband could fix some problems that could be delayed for a bit of time. Well Hubby didn't find time to fix the problem(s), and on a trip to San Francisco the car died. I bet ya'll know how that conversation went with her Hubby (chuckle)....Adamson's said all you needed to do was...., and you didn't do it so now the repair bill is.... She and her Hubby are now diehard Adamson fans (like me)! Heck, they are now willing to drive to Ojai to get their car serviced! I hate to say this, but after one visit to Adamson's you to will be a diehard fan also. I really like they are Ojai's secret, but you can't help yourself (after the first visit) from shouting from the mountain tops they are unbelievable after being ripped off by dealerships and other repair shops (chuckle)! Who'd believe - a real, honest auto repair shop..in the towing business (Hello Separanos!)...and one you can REALLY trust! Ok where do I start....this establishment is amazing!! I am a girl yes, but I am a girl who has been around cars her whole life so I am not a dummy. I took my car here because my light came on for coolant. Thats all I needed checked. Low and behold, they work on BMW's here...yes! Not many places work on German cars. They were a little busy but I did not mind. I told them what was going on, and was helped. One of the mechanics went out to my car with me, filled the coolant and I was on my way. My car broke down recently while in Ojai. Was visiting my brother so asked him and his friends (all car guys/dirtbike guys/do- it- yourself guys) for an automotive repair recommendation. The consensus is that if you want a good mechanic, the place to go is Adamson's Automotive. The shop is super clean and organized (the first sign that someone pays attention to detail!) The repair was done right the first time, plus he noted a few other areas of concern (shift-shaft seal leak I didn't know about, so the transmission fluid was a quart low).
