I was told by more than one person how great Bill is at WTL. I called and asked for a consultation…read moreon my property for both treatments and pruning. The guy who came for the treatment consultation (Bartlett) was very nice, professional and had answers to my questions. Bill's partner who came to quote the pruning was nice enough but when I asked for a price, I was given a very vague answer that it would cost "X" but "X" wouldn't guarantee that the job would be complete. So I asked 2 more times what would be the cost to complete the job and finally I got an answer but it was 2X! Significantly higher than anyone else. I decided not to go with them. I was disappointed I didn't get Bill. Everyone said he's the honest one. He's the knowledgeable one. I noticed my neighbors aren't using WTL anymore either. Be careful when you sign with them. Make sure you read your contract. Be sure your quote is to complete a job, not just for part.

This company must have been terrific in years past, given how many of my neighbors recommend them…read more Sadly, not anymore. They took down a bunch of troubled trees. First, they screwed up the permit, filing an inaccurate description of the property. Whatever. Then, they failed to show up on the day of the appointment. Annoying, but forgivable. Then they did the work and I paid up. And then, last month -- three years after the job -- the local government writes me to say the permit was never closed. The company promised the village that we would replant seven trees. That seems like a sensible rule, and we will comply, BUT the company never bothered to tell us this and left the permit open. And when I called them to get their help closing out the permit, they ignored me. When I persisted, the guy who did the job, Remy, came out and said this was not his problem. But the village had sent me his permit language on his letterhead promising to do something he never did and never discussed with me. Surely that makes it his responsibility. He reluctantly said he would take care of this and then disappeared. I left messages for the owner, Bill Davies. He never responded. This is shady behavior.

We dealt with a lot of bad vendors, Arboland helped us cut down trees that were sick with lanternflies, gain control of our bamboo and build a retaining wall to help the water flow (our house is on a slope) and prepared our backyard to plant new native plants! Now we can finally enjoy our backyard in the mountains without worrying about flooding, hiking up muddy soil and our son can play on the paved patio! They're true artists!

The service I was requesting was an estimate for work on my property, requiring the removal of large, medium, and smaller trees, and also limning up some additional large trees. He was thorough in his discussion and a good listener. I was very impressed with him. The price he quoted was fair, and I did feel confident that he could do the work efficiently, professionally, and within the time allocated to us. I'm not reviewing the actual work because I have had to get three bids for this particular project and have not started to work yet. I will check back in once I complete the service.
