Extremely arrogant, forgetful and angry owner. Maybe it's age, maybe not however, people coming in for service shouldn't feel discomfort as we did. No matter what customer requests - he makes fun of it and demands that he knows better what to do and "who is customer" to speak their mind. Few times that we did come in with much work - we left depressed after his insulting "lectures" and forgetfulness. I was getting married and went to the Men's Wearhouse to get a "custom" suit. This was my first suit experience, and long story short what I got from them would make MC Hammer proud (this isn't a review for how bad Men's Wearhouse is, so I will keep it relevant, but my experience was so bad I did not want to take it back to them to have them "fix" it). After looking at yelp for tailors I came upon Adam and his shop in Burlingame, and I am never taking clothes anywhere else again. From the beginning he metaphorically tore the suit apart, outlining everything that was wrong with it and all the corners that were cut. All he was saying was "shame, shame," like I was Cersei in Game of Thrones. The cherry on top was when he showed me the made in China label next to where the "custom" label is. After spending a out an hour taking measurements he told me he would have it ready the day before I was flying out for the wedding (approximately 30 days). I received a call after about 3 weeks that the suit was ready, and my expectations were blown away. My wife and I got married in Cancun and I literally would have been blown away if I kept the suit the way it was, and Adam not only took care of that but had me feeling like I was James Bond. He literally could remake anything - a tailor, alterations, a quick fix. He also is great at giving advice - like "this jacket looks great, I would only shorten the sleeves not change the shoulders etc" So because of Adam I am now wearing a cashmere jacket that had been sitting at the back of my closet! I had my suit tailored here. It wasn't a simple job at all with both the jacket and slacks getting some major alterations. Adam was helpful, personable and did a great job overall. You can tell he has years of experience. Only drawback is it's a little more expensive than your average store that does alterations. The quality of work does show where the money went. I recently decided to find a tailor closer to work so that I would not have to bring my denim to SF. I brought in a pair of gray raw selvedge after calling and having Adam confirm he could do a taper from the knee to bottom opening. Adam did a great job on the taper and I am happy with the fit, however be aware that he does not do chain-stitched hemming which may be a deal breaker for denim enthusiasts. I took a pair of jeans in to get hemmed. Although Adam (I'm guessing that's his name) was friendly, his broken English made it difficult for me to understand what he was saying. Additonally, his prices are much higher than I expected. $24 for a regular hem is the highest I've ever seen anywhere (including New York and Los Angeles). Adam is a tailor's tailor. He can do everything from shortening pants, to altering dresses, to making bespoke shirts and suits. I brought him a pair of royal blue Gap capris that I bought in August, which had varying pant lengths. I asked for them to be shortened further and if we could add a cuff. They came out perfectly. He passed the test, and I knew he would be my new tailor. Twenty pairs of pants, three suit jackets, six button-up shirts, and one dress later, and I am transformed, tailored, and happy -- albeit a little lighter in the pocketbook. Adam hails from Turkey, which as most of you know, is the birthplace of modern day textiles, so you know he knows what he's doing. Sure, he's adoringly bumbley and not always 100% organized, but he takes pride in his work, stitches hems by hand, and is always ready with a smile. If your outfit is inexpensive, don't bring it here. But if you need pieces to last for years, or for a special occasion, this is the place for you.... The service was efficient and fast. Although it is somewhat pricier than other places, the quality here is superb and reliable! Do NOT GO here to get your pants shortened. We are new to the area. First went to this guy to have one pair of pants tailored as a test run. As much as he was charging a lot we decided to give him a try. It came out great. So went back with additional pants. After telling him to keep the originals on the pants he did a botch job with NO original bottoms on ANY of the pants! When I went to complain guess what happened...I got blamed for not telling him what I wanted?!!! Not to mention one of them pants were not even measured correctly! I'm rating Adam's Fine Tailoring five stars because he didn't offer to help me out. I had a small tear in a pair of suit pants. I thought they might require reweaving but I took them to Adam's because it was convenient. He said in fact they need to be sent to a reweaver and I appreciate that he didn't try to take the business and do a job that would not have been as good as sending it to a different place. I'll definitely visit him the next time I need something done to my clothes that is in his area of expertise. read more
