This place is SO MUCH FUN. You know it's a good spot when there's variety: tourists, yes, but also some locals. Families? Yep. Friend groups? Yes indeed. Couples? Please see my photo. Solos? But of course. There really is something for everyone. The bar and restaurant on the top floor is great--it's lovely, and it is worth visiting even if you aren't planning to head to the swing. (That said, the swing is fun and you should try it.) Excellent service, plenty to see and do, and a great beverage menu make for a lovely afternoon. I recommend reserving in advance and buying a package to save some money. I will report back after I try the VR roller coaster, but for now I am enjoying the sunshine! We found the A'DAM Lookout online, thought it looked cool, and decided to check it out while we were in Amsterdam. This time I was there with my daughter and her best friend (both 16) on their Spring Break trip, and honestly . . . it was really cool. We did the swing, the VR experience, and of course the actual lookout, and it was definitely worth it. Great views, fun activities, and a really solid spot for photos. If you're old enough, there's also a bar up top with a lot of seating, so it's not just a quick tourist stop . . . it actually feels like a place you could hang out, relax, and enjoy for a while. Next time I'm in Amsterdam with friends, I'd love to go back up there, have a few drinks, and just enjoy the view. I'll definitely be back. read more

A'DAM Lookout is a great place to get a bird's-eye view of Amsterdam. The views are absolutely stunning, especially on a nice day when you can really take in the whole city. There's also a restaurant and bar on-site, perfect if you want to grab a bite or enjoy a beer while you soak it all in. I tried to go on the famous swing with my husband, but I'm not 100% comfortable with heights -- and that swing goes way over the edge! I couldn't do it, but my husband did and had a blast. When he got off, he told me, "Yeah, you wouldn't have liked that swing," and I totally believe him! Whether you're up for the thrill or just want to relax and admire the skyline, A'DAM Lookout is definitely worth a visit. read more

It's a nice way to see Amsterdam from up high. I got the I Amsterdam card so it was included. There are other things with additional cost (swing, games, and a full bar/restaurant. There is a free 5 minute ferry from central station. It's close to some other attractions there too. It was nice to see the city. If I go back I would do it again at night. read more

I was afraid to do this, as I don't like rollercoasters because of the motion making me sick. I was in Amsterdam with 4 other girls and they all encouraged me to go on the swing. It's about a minute if I'm remembering correctly and was under $20. It was actually raining a little bit while we were set to get on the swing. You are still allowed to get on if the rain isn't too bad. They take a video of you, which you get on the QR code from when you take your pictures before getting on the swing. It was a good experience although I was ready to get down after my legs swung twice lol you can ask them to let you down before the time if you want to. The views were pretty and so was the whole building itself. Pretty cool experience and I can't forget the elevator ride. We actually ate next door and didn't do the food bundle here so I can't quite speak on that. read more

This is one of our least favorite tourist attractions that we did. I was really excited for the lookout because of the videos I saw online, but it was pretty expensive for a extremely short amount of time. There are two different ticket options. One is a ticket to just get you up to the top of the observation deck and then there is a separate ticket in order to do the swing. The swing lasted about a minute and that included being raised up and lowered down. So for the amount of money that you pay, I don't think it's worth it because you don't really get to experience being up and out swinging for very long. It's almost like you blink and I and it's over. so my suggestion would be to pay for the ticket option to get you to the top of the observation deck. This was such a cool experience, my husband and I travelled to Amsterdam for his 40th birthday and we thought the best way to celebrate such a big milestone was for him to swing off of the A'Dam Lookout. Super easy to purchase tickets online and get across from the Amsterdam Central, the staff here are really friendly. We took a green screen photo together, explored the mini museum, they even have a scenic bathroom, and a really cool rooftop. The high rise tower is right across the river from Amsterdam Central Station. There is a free ferry that runs day and night. This was my third trip to Amsterdam, I'm glad that I discovered the free ferry and this side of the river. The 22 story high rise was formerly offices for Royal Dutch Shell. They did a complete overhaul into a tourist destination. The swing off the side of the building is one of the World's best thrill rides. Came here after a night of walking around the city. I found this spot on a website. I Google'd 'what to do in Amsterdam at night' and this popped up. The views are wonderful. If you plan to make it a night here, make sure to bring plenty of money . The drink here are not cheap. For two vodka mix drinks we paid $25. I tried to convince my hubby to try the swings, but he said only if I would and THAT WAS NOT GONNA HAPPEN . They said it was the tallest swing in Europe. No thank you. Randomly searching for, "things to do in Amsterdam" while my jet lagged was raging, I found the A'DAM Lookout , which for some reason I thought was in Rotterdam, but is actually right in Amsterdam. When traveling I feel a little more adventurous so I took the ferry over from Amsterdam Centraal and headed into the building. There are multiple options here much like any touristy building with views, I opted for the standard entrance which was 14 Euro, I do believe it's cheaper booking online. When you enter they immediately take your photo behind a green screen for future purchases/downloads later. Once through you take the elevator up which features a really cool light show. Now, the day I was here it was super windy. Like weather warning winds. But I noticed the swing at the top of the building was still running. I said, "what the hell" and bought a 5 euro ticket to ride the swing. Before I get there, at the roof top there are some amazing photo ops and views of the city you should really take in. Honestly, it was so windy for me it wasn't enjoyable. Now the swing. They'll take your photo for you (on their phone which you can purchase later). Overall, I think the swing is about 45 seconds but no more than a minute. I was utterly terrified, mainly due to the wind but also because of the height. It's freaking high you guys. It was nice. I was happy I did it, but once was enough for sure. One level below there is a restaurant and seating areas where you can enjoy the views without experiencing the elements. read more

Pretty cool thing and tourist-y thing to do. Last day in Amsterdam, I have been seeing this building all days that I was there and finally got to go to it. To get here, I took a quick ferry ride over from Amsterdam Centraal. (I get a lot of motion sickness, but since the ferry ride was so quick, I had no problems). I was there the first thing in the morning, so there was not a lot of people around. I also bought a City Pass so the ride to the observation deck was free. The elevator was super cool (lots of lights) and in a few minutes I was at the top. I decided to try the swings (why not?!) for 5 Euros. And, it was definitely a cool experience. I am not super scared of heights, but even I was a little scared. The only thing is if you want a photo, they will not take one with your camera. Instead, they will take one for you (a few of them) and you can purchase a physical copy downstairs or I believe you can also download a copy for your social media. I passed on buying a physical copy, but the photos came out pretty cool, so I will definitely download a copy. After the swings, I went back inside and there was a cool restaurant (it was warm inside on a cold day) and I had breakfast there. It was cool because I got breakfast with a view. The price was average, but who can beat the view. I would definitely come back here (not sure if it is worth paying to go up to the deck, but if part of a City Pass again, I would definitely come back). read more

I came here on a weekday morning at 10am and the entire lookout was basically empty. Although I had a timed ticket for 11, they let me hop on the swing early. I'm so glad I came here, the view was great and the service was excellent. I did not realize how much "swing over the edge" was true!! The swing goes both up and out pretty high, making for an exhilarating experience, with a view. I would recommend stopping by and if you go when they first open in the morning, you'll be able to avoid a crowd! My one thing that I would like to add is that the elevator ride up has a "light show" that was not notated anywhere and is no epilepsy friendly--for anyone wary of that. read more

Spent about 3 days in Amsterdam and we spent the last day at A'dam! Absolutely loved it up there. You get an amazing view of the entire city! It was a bit gloomy and rainy but it was def worth it. The weather just felt right and being able to take all in. The staff was extremely nice and even let me ride twice once with my best friend and then with my boyfriend. They also have this cute bar at the top that gives you a 360view of the city inside. Their food is pretty good as well if you are visiting def worth trying. A'ADAM Lookout was a cool experience with great views. As you climb to the 20th floor of a large skyscraper you are entertained with a fun elevator with an ongoing light show. I hade purchased the full experience which included the swing on the top, the VR and the observation deck. The observation deck gives incredible panoramic views of historical Amsterdam. For the thrill seeker in all of us the A'dam lookout swing dares to take you over the edge of the tall building. This short but fun experience is worth it! The views were incredible. Why only four stars? To be honest.... we have the VR Oculus Quest 2, this over-the-counter system offers a more realistic experience than the visuals provided by the system at the A'dam Lookout. Perhaps an experience better suited for a younger less experienced and critical person. GET RESERVATIONS if you wish to eat at the restaurant; a step I wish I had taken so that we could have comfortably taken in the views for a longer period of time. We caught a free ferry ride from Amsterdam Centraal... which took 5min and the ferries are available every 10min or so to get to this attraction. The view at the top is absolutely spectacular and breathtaking. An absolute must-see for anyone visiting Amsterdam. There is an indoor viewing area where you can also order food while you dine on top of the world and an outdoor sky deck bar complete with Europe's tallest swing that puts you over the edge. It was scary for the first 20 seconds but the beautiful view and experience was totally worth it. The total swing experience was only 2mins long from the moment you sit on the swings. The staff crew also took photos of us which are available for purchase later on. The swing experience was £5 pp and we got in the lookout deck for free with the 'I Amsterdam' passes. read more

This is a fun spot and a definite must to do while touring Amsterdam. It's basically viewing the entire city from the top deck from different vantage points. The elevator ride is a lot of fun going all the way up to the top floor and once you get there, that's when you can see the entire city and it's a gorgeous sight. At night it does get kind of cold and we were feeling the breeze and the chills. There's also a swing that you can ride on which is about five euros extra but it's suspended from the building and you have to be a daredevil to get on it. It's about a 5 to 7 minute ride in the swing with nothing underneath you but hundreds of feet below ground. It's intimidating. My oldest son got onto it and he said he had a great time. My younger two kids kind of backed out which kind of made me back out also as somebody had to look after them while the oldest one was enjoying the ride. They have a restaurant towards the top floor and it's a popular spot to dine and enjoy the view. If you do visit Amsterdam, make sure to make a pitstop at Adam look out. I would recommend booking ticket online beforehand so when you go to the place, you don't have to wait in the que to buy. I got a ticket for the viewing deck with the add on of the swing. I highly recommend this option as it was only £6 additional. I went to the lookout half hour before the swing ticket time and near sunset hour. There are ways to view through binoculars and see the listing of spots surrounding the whole deck. If you enjoy the background and history of places would recommend the little cinema. It's free and the video is informative as far as history and the purpose of the tower. I didn't stay past 9pm when it becomes a club and night out spot but it was a great place to see the sunset over the Amsterdam skyline. read more

We came to the Lookout as part of our Heineken Experience (3 in 1 package with Heineken brewery tour, canal cruise, and entry to the Lookout). We came on a foggy, rainy, windy day so, although the views from the top were beautiful, it definitely wasn't the best part of the day. It also wasn't the best day to take a whirl on the swing located at the rooftop, but we figured, when in Rome... The swing experience will set you back an extra 5€ per person. Because of the garbage weather, there was almost no wait for the swing. We were some of the only looney bins willing to brave the wind and rain to swing in the sky over Amsterdam. The smartest move on our part? Absolutely not. Did I have a panic attack while flying in the sky? Yes. Cool experience? I'd say so. The staff take "complimentary" pictures for you on their phone which you can pick up, and overpay for, before you leave. I was upset that they tried to get money out of us for the photos when these indeed are supposed to be free, as many have mentioned in previous reviews. What the hell? I found that to be really rude since these are supposed to be "complimentary" so we opted to not get copies. Thankfully another group was able to snap some pics of us on our own phones so we were set. This experience was okay. I wouldn't do it again though. read more

Fun observation tower and deck with a rooftop bar and Europe's highest swing. My friends and I visited A'DAM Lookout, as tourists do, and we had a fun time. What's super cool about A'DAM Lookout is that it's easy to get to. We were in the city centre of Amsterdam, so we learned that to get across the water to A'DAM, we can take a free 15-minute ferry from the Amsterdam Centraal. Once we docked it was a short walk to the tower. There are different ticket options. The basic ticket just gets you to the deck and there's the ultimate experience, which includes a ride on the swing on the deck. We decided to get the ticket that includes two drink tickets at the rooftop bar or bar inside the restaurant located here. For only a few euros more it's worth the extra money. As with most towers, only a certain amount of people can go up at a certain time and there's someone that operates the elevator for you. Once we got up to the observation deck, there were actually only a few people outside versus inside of the deck because it was so windy! But I would recommend checking out the outdoor area, even just for a little bit, as you get a better view of the city. And you can also watch people swinging on the deck. There were plenty of tables and chairs right outside the outdoor bar where we had our first drink. Note that the drink tokens for your ticket is only good for wine and beer. The inside part of the observation deck was much busier. There wasn't a lot of seating to hang out in, so a lot of people were sitting on the floor by the window, which we ended up doing. The bar that's here is for the restaurant, so many of the A'DAM tourists weren't able to get seats since it was reserved for the diners. We even tried to get a table, with the intention to get bites, but the whole place was booked up. I'd highly recommend making reservations if you plan to eat in the restaurant here. However, we still had a nice time, hanging out for our last drink and observing the views. If you're touring Amsterdam for the first time and have the time, I'd say A'DAM Lookout is worth checking out. Compared to other lookouts in major cities, it lacks in information of the sights you're seeing, as there is nothing here that tells you what certain sites or landmarks are that you're seeing. But the views sure are pretty and Amsterdam is just so damn awesome. You'll have a good time. read more

I took the free ferry across the water to A'DAM lookout, staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I went early so it wasn't too busy. You are asked to sit in front of a green screen and get photos with Amsterdam as the backdrop, then you will enter a lift that has an exciting light show all the way up to the 22nd floor where there is more photo opportunities with the A'DAM sign and atop a horse and of course there is the over the edge swing which was such a thrilling experience. It was scarier and faster than I imagined it was going to be but once over that initial fear it's a great experience and I would highly recommend and afterwards grab yourself a drink and a bean bag and think about what the hell you just did and pat yourself on the back! You are given a card with a barcode in order to purchase and download photos and a video as proof that you went on the swing and you survived. The gift shop is great too with cool 3D postcards, posters, pens, homeware games, toys and sweets. However it is quite costly and if it wasn't for the swing there is not much else that I would want to see or do here. read more

I have to agree with another reviewer. Amsterdam is better enjoyed from the ground. But if you do want a birds eye view, this is where you can do it. I signed up for it out of convenience. I was at Heineken and for just a bit more, you gain admission here and get a canal cruise. My hostel was around the corner on the same side of the water, so I spent the extra few euros for kicks. The view is very beautiful. I was there at night. You can see "AMSTERDAM" on Central Station and all. Neat. Before you take the trippy elevator, they have you take posed photos with a green screen. They're free to download online with a special code. I didn't spend long here, but I bet it's awesome in the warmer months. read more

I had an amazing time on the A'DAM lookout! There are plenty of photo opportunities from the swings, horses, and the amazing view you get of the city. I'd recommend going close to sunset. The city looks amazing during the day, but if you stay long enough you can also get a glimpse of what it looks like at night as well. If you're looking to do the swings just know that it lasts for about 2 minutes. I think we paid 5 euros to do it. I'd recommend just giving this a try if you go. They try to assign everyone times to avoid huge lines. It can be scary at first but after a while you're captured by the view of the city and less worried about how high you are. The swings were secure so I never felt I was in danger. Tip: The staff do take pictures of you on the swing and in front of a green screen before you head up the elevator to the top of the tower. You can download those photos at no additional cost since it is included in your ticket but there is an opportunity in the gift shop to get them printed if you decide that you'd like to buy their printed version. read more

I loved the observation deck which showed 360 degree panoramic views of Amsterdam, you could even see the historical center and canals from the top. If you're a thrill seeker, I highly recommend getting on the swing. It's called 'Over the Edge' and is said to be Europe's highest swing. It's about 100 meters above the ground, and hangs back and forth over the edge of the tower. The day we went it was raining very hard but that didn't stop our fun! There was a long line too but it went quick. The rush was amazing especially when you have Amsterdam hanging below your feet.
