Steer clear of Adam Askari,! Four years I was an ardent fan. That is, until he decided to tell my youngest adult son that he needed crowns instead of a couple of cavities filled. Because we don't have the same last name he apparently wasn't aware that he was my son. Not only did he unnecessarily install two crowns, but he did such a bad job that my son was in pain for weeks. And yes, all of that was submitted to my son's insurance which ate up his dental benefits for the year. But because a star is so "helpful." he put my son on a payment plan to pay the difference. On top of that, he tried to convince him that he needed a root canal. Another dentist told my son that all of the work that Askari did was unnecessary. Can you say, insurance fraud? Horrible experience at this office with staff and doctor. They prayed on my tooth issue while in pain. Didn't explain my bill or even give me a copy. I have insurance and this office got payed from my insurance and still took $300.00 from me. I have been emailing and calling for a refund with no response on why they have not refunded me! I have been seeing this group for 10 years. They take my insurance and match the negotiated rate for routine cleanings. I never need to pay out of pocket. They have an awesome hygienist, Pedro. He not only does a high quality cleaning, he does it with extreme care and delicacy. Frances at the main desk is customer focused, does everything with a smile, and always keeps the office festive! I've been seeing Dr. Askari for about eight years now. My dental history prior to seeing Dr. Askari was irregular and so on my first visit he identified several old fillings that needed to be replaced due to cracking and fatigue. Over the years I have had a few crowns and implants along with the regular cleanings. He is not the least expensive service provider in the area, but his work has always been first-rate and is recommended with an eye toward my long-term health. Dr. Askari is a professional. He speaks directly, doctor to patient and adult to adult. Some may find his manner too blunt, but I think it's just the way that people speak when they know what needs to be done and are ready to get to it. I find it reassuring, but I understand why others may react in other ways. Dr. Askari has a close relationship with the University of Pacific Dental School and often has dental students from UOP in the office doing their practicum. They are all closely supervised and are limited to doing only what they are permitted to do prior to getting their license. These are not "junior" or "second-team" providers, as some have implied in these reviews. I don't think twice about recommending Dr. Askari to my friends. He's proven to me the value or regular cleanings and early action when problems are spotted. My teeth have never been healthier. read more

So, came into see Dr. Askari today. Thanks to my Miracle loving wife that found this place. After years of fear of the dentist do to very bad experience. First I came in on a Sunday and Dr. Askari took us in. Took insurance over the phone which was convenient for insurance confirmation. I went in for tooth extraction and root canal, (mind you I was terrified) sat in the chair and got numb up, and in under 1 hour all was done. First, let me start by saying that the office is very clean, and very beautiful. The front staff is very friendly, and welcoming. When I finally got called to have X-rays done (which was 30 minutes past my appointment time), I was given instructions on how to get inside the machine and then the technician would take my X-rays. Well, after several failed attempts, she walked me over to a room to do it another way. 15 minutes later, I am greeted by the dentist, Dr. Askari, and he tries to get the machine working once more. It does not. He takes me back to the room, and does not do an X-ray on me. Instead, he tells me to open my mouth, and notices the tartar on my teeth. I told him I was here for just a cleaning today, but proceeded to tell me I should have my "gap" fixed, wisdom teeth removed, and needed to do a "non-surgical procedure" under my gums to help. I just wanted my cleaning, as I needed to consider any other treatments and make sure they were in my budget. He took me back up to the reception area without doing an X-ray or cleaning my teeth and tried to make an appointment for me to have all those procedures done tonight. I told him I just wanted my cleaning, and that I didn't have time or money for the rest - he still refused to do my cleaning, and told me "Good luck." I basically wasted an hour (and work) in order to be refused the service I came in for. Basically, it's a nice building, but their toys don't work and they don't listen to the patient's needs. Wow Hygienist Teresa is great. It felt like a spa... mouth spa? She sprayed essence oil in the room and played relaxing music and used coconut oil to moisturizer my lips. Teresa is full of energy and was very through cleaning my teeth. Let's just say Dr. Ladan made me fall asleep while I was getting my crown done. I didn't feel any pain at all. Dr. Ladan was very calm and not pushy at all. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I highly recommend this place =) read more

The offie is beautiful but not the services. It took them 45 minutes to confirm my insurance company. It was frustrating. Why can't they take my insurance info over the phone so everything would be ready when patients arrive??? Then went to the back room for x-ray. The machine didn't work. The technician seemed inexperience. He called in another person, yet the machine still didn't work. I was moved to another room, and it took over 20 minutes for a simple process. Then another staff came in to check my teeth (I thought this should be done by the doctor but no, it was done by a technician). Finally the doctor came in, briefly looked at my chart and told me I am good to go (we only had 5 minutes interaction). He wanted to show me a video on how to floss my teeth properly. Once again, the machine that was supposed to show the video wasn't working neither. So he just sent me home. I feel like going to a dental school, because most of the procedures are done by technician (include the exam part). My previous dentist checked every single one of my teeth herself. And only let the staff to do the x-ray. After spending 1.5 hour there, I left disappointed, frustrated and decided never to come back. Avoid this dentisl. read more

I definitely would not recommend this establishment. I am not sure how they are getting almost 5 stars... I suspect it is an inside job as most of the reviewers are from the same ethnic background as the lead dentist there. Here is my story: My father, who is an 88 year old recovering stroke patient was assigned to this office based on his insurance, Delta Dental. I am the primary caretaker for my father so while working a full time job, I also manage his health needs. I took my father to this office and at first glance everything was good. I got an appointment and I hauled my dad there, there was good parking, easy access, etc. And the office space looked nice and clean. That is the lost positive thing I have to say about this establishment and Dr. Askari. My dad (and me, as his caretaker) got nothing but the run-around and incompetent and incomplete advice from this office. Every time we went there, nothing was done an finalized. And each time, we'd have a different junior doctor assigned to "take care of us." We remained patient, despite the difficulty for my father to get out the house and go there to deal with his achy mouth. Finally, after several rounds and a complete set of x-rays they took, we got a referral to someone else and, a few days later, got a letter from Delta Dental informing us that Dr. Askari had essentially fired my dad as a patient. There are lots of good doctors out there. Find yourself one. This one is not one of them! And don't waste your time, like we did. Good luck! read more

This place is ridiculous ! First of let me tell you about the front Desk receptionist, they look unprofessional with all the heavy makeup they wear . The Asian manager upfront is also ridiculous do not get fooled by her words and fake smile either . I agree the office is clean and nice but service is rather not great at all . They need to care more about their patients instead of getting their patients money quick and if you don't have food dental insurance good luck ! They treat you as if they cannot help you anymore . So far DR Asakri needs to hire better employees more professional women especially a new manager upfront Handling payments . This please will not survive business. In my personal experience: I lost My tooth feeling six months ago, did my best to avoid this kind of treatment, and I had an excruciating pain. Called the hot line as it is advertised in their web. Got a call by the doctor to be there at 8 am. $169 for service before extracting, since that is what I wanted. 1- To get the money there is no wait, but if you ask for your change there is eye brows raised. "I have no change now, but I can add it to service is going to be done" so I said no, after all why I have to wait for my change. I pay as we go right? each service (I am not sure if you can call it that) I had to pay before they take the steps. 2- Jr. walks in and instead of looking at taken ex-ray that shows exactly which tooth has the problem she is cruising in my mouth with $ sign in her eyes. 3- I stopped her with my hand signal and I said I am here to get rid of tooth and I have no desire to have any other work done. Nothing at all 4- I get additional paper work that its main function to protect the butchers, and with the smile I said these paper are not going to be a bullet prove west, and if there is an issue I will and I am very capable to pursuit matters legally. The question becomes why some one go that fare to protect themselves, bad past experience doing poor job, fear of losing what they have, or higher insurance premium are just a few I could think of. Either way consumers do have rights and if something did go wrong by the doctor in my mouth I will not just write bad review nor level myself with him. I will report him to Dental Board of California and more. It is foolish to think you are a doctor and now you reserve all the rights, or some how you are superior. A judge cares less about that, and cares more about what laws were ignored. Sr. walks in and has demeanor attitude, after I ask: I need my tooth after extraction and after I was told by the law they can not do that and I show them URL for ca.gov that I have every right to have my extracted tooth back he says let me call my insurance. Well instead he calls Santa Clara association, that has no authority over government rules and regulations. Not only he misinterprets the answer to my request but he also gives me the number of the person he spoke with for me to call! Lack of communication usually is not an useful skill for a DDS. Dear hard working people with pain and no insurance, there are plenty of experienced and professional doctors in San Jose/ Santa Clara county that do not have a need to charge you extra or do something that you really don't need to pay for all their toys or student loans. You need to get the job done right in the first place without selling your car, avoid this SR and JR so called DDS. read more

Even though a close friend of mine recommended him, I was very apprehensive about seeing Dr. Askari after reading the reviews on yelp; however, it helped that other reviews on the web about Dr. Askari are very positive. So, I got to experience the services of his office first hand. I have to tell you that I am extremely happy with his office from A to Z. The office staff is professional and friendly; the office is immaculate, the equipment is modern and Doctor Askari himself is very caring. I had two crowns that developed a leak and no longer trusted my own dentist since the crowns were his handy work.
