Yep this would be a minus 10 review if possible I started seeing this dentist about a year ago. I paid thousands of dollars upfront for a whitening that never worked She kept telling me she would give me a kit to take home and do myself. I told her the reason I came to her was because she told me she could whiten my teeth. In addition she fixed a few cavitys and pulled an infected tooth. and gave me a crown then 6 months later I start getting more bills from her I told her she still hasnt whitened my teeth and that I had paid thousands of dollars to her already I also had great insurance that she also billed. Now a year later she is still trying to send me bills and my teeth still arent white not even close they are the same color as when I started Lastly I wanted a woman dentist as soon as I got there she sent a guy in right after she told me she would be doing the procedures. where is the option for NO STARS AT ALL? I booked an appoinment online for dental cleaning (4/2/25 1:15PM) lastnight and received the confirmation via email. This morning at 11:31 AM they called me to ask for my dental insurance since I uploaded my medical ID card. I told them I don't have it and instead, I suggested to look at my spouse's record. The receptionist confirmed that they have my spouse in their system and will call me back for updates. The receptionist however, never called me back. It was almost time for my appointment and so I decided to call them. I was put on hold and I hang up and called again since it's already 1:13PM . I decided to cancel my appointment since the receptionist wasn't able to give me a clear answer and was trying to suggest a different time. I just cancelled since I have other appointments to attend to and I didn't feel like she's trying to accomodate me at all. She didn't even bother calling back to confirm if my Dental Insurance is already active. I told her I'm not going anymore, I'd rather go else where. I've done dental receptionist job before and this is unacceptable. People book appointments because everyone is busy. I also file claims and help patients that have inquiries about billing and the length of their appointments/follow-ups. Receptionist can call the insurance/ check the website or refer from the list of new patients assigned to the facility. It gets updated monthly, if not yearly. I don't understand why the receptionist have to sound like she doesn't have any idea about my appointment like it's her first time looking at the computer. I also use dentrix, I don't know what kind of booking system they have , whether it's dental symphony or other online /offline server. The issue is they have a receptionist that doesn't even follow-up with new patients. So beware if you're going to this place/calling. If you don't wanna waste time, don't go here. read more

Came in because one of my tooth became sensitive, uncomfortable and a bit loose. Was basically looked/evaluated for 3 minutes. No xrays or exams. Told to just wait it out and if tooth becomes worse come back. Wasn't comfortable with the answers I got, so I went for a second opinion elsewhere. Was told the tooth was infected at another dental office....The audacity for the office to charge me $91 for an exam that didn't even last 5 minutes. Was extremely frustrated with the way how the situation was handled. He didn't even try to figure out why my tooth was moving/uncomfortable. I also mention my bite felt wrong since this tooth had become uncomfortable. Didn't even bother to get it checked. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. read more

Absolutely ridiculous wait time. We had an appointment at 1PM and didn't get seen until 2PM. We checked in at 12:55 just to be safe and it took 50 minutes for them to even show us the plan and payment needed. I swear a child has better time management than this place. read more

I will never come again. I came for cleaning through zocdoc. They take 18 x-ray photos, and I was not being notified in advance. I wanted to actually quit it midway. And the assistant operate it unprofessionally so that my gum hurts for 4 days after biting the x-ray machine. The assistant told me to withstand the pain when biting the machine. And it became so hurt that I have to spit out the part of machine during x-ray. I have never experienced before. The doctor up-sells a lot of procedures to me. I found it suspicious as my past dentist thought my teeth were totally fine. They asked me to do a crown on a teeth with totally normal function. So I get second opinion from the other dentist. And they said most of procedures are not necessary. Amazingly, my plan estimate on the other out-of-network dentist is even lower than this in-network dentist. But as per her cleaning skill, I would still appreciate the quality of her technique. I understand that some caveats need treatment. But I don't understand why this doctor wants to replace the filling when things still works fine. I feel Dr Amal is looking for profit instead of planning what is best for me. And this is the bad experience compared with my past dentists. read more

Normally I would not come onto Yelp to post about professional services. But recent experiences compelled me otherwise. Amal Ramlaoui appears to be a compassionate individual who has been in the dental practice for close to 20 years. But with most businesses, as time goes on, quality can decline. While Amal is still working at the office, in my last three visits I have been tended to by some apparently-random people of whom I do not even know their names. I am not sure if she is adding staff or expanding her practice but there is no mention of this or list of names of these other individuals (not even on the web site). Aside from that, the front office reception staff is also not professional. Speaking in medical terminology, not listening to the patient when they are trying to talk, cutting people off mid-sentence, and dishing out overall attitude has been my common experience recently. This has been my experience when interacting both in-person and on the phone with reception staff. While Amal does seem like a compassionate individual, it is unfortunate that the expanded staff and employees are causing constant frustration for her patients. One of the most fundamental steps of running a practice is ensuring the employees know what insurance they accept and telling patients. Here is my story.. I called and made an appointment, I gave my insurance and all the information requested.. up until now, its all good. Then a few minutes later, I get a call asking if I can give more insurance information, I said ok and emailed them everything else they requested. Again, up until now, its all good. The day of my appointment comes, I go to my appointment and they tell me they don't accept my insurance.. ummm, ok fine if you don't but couldn't you call or email me telling me this instead of making me come to my appointment to let me know? Dr. Ramlaoui is a scam. Do not go to her! I thought she was doing a good job by being thorough but in reality she was just advising me to do work that I didn't need. She filled done of my cavities using a method NOT approved by me and NOT covered by my insurance so I was out almost $400. I tried appealing the decision but was informed that the method she used is NOT routine or necessary. I have been to other dentists since her and they have all advised me that the work she said I needed to get done, I did not in fact need. Try other dentists or at least get a second opinion before she cheats you out of your money. Other than that, her staff is lovely. read more

I used to extremely dread going to the dentist because of the many bad experiences I've had. I started seeing Dr. Ramlaoui when I was 10-years-old, an age when I was really scared of dentists. So scared that before Dr. Ramlaoui, I would sometimes run out of the chair at other dentist offices. She was the first dentist that I actually felt cared about her patients beyond just having an in-and-out of the chair drive-thru ca-ching-like ($$$) experience. She's also more hands-on and involved than most dentists, which I appreciate after having dentists who sometimes do absolutely nothing and give you less than five minutes of face time. And she will always be there to patiently answer your questions whenever you have them. She has even evaluated whether someone is being charged too much for a service at another clinic or being told to get something unnecessarily done and she always tries to work with her patients. But the BEST thing about her and why I still go more than 20-years-on is she's extremely conscious where pain points may and is very gentle when treating that sensitive area - even for a cleaning! She's experienced and knows what she is doing. You can tell she comes from one of the best schools for dentistry - UCSF. She gets teeth and can geek out over that, which is why I trust her more than anyone in this department. On top of that, her team feels like family every time I walk in. I had been living in DC for several years and I know you are supposed to visit your dentist twice a year, but after another horrible experience in DC, I made it a point to only come to Dr. Ramlaoui from now on - even if that meant only seeing her when I was home for the holidays. I have given this Dentist an open minded try as a referral from a co worker. I first saw her last year for a checkup and cleaning. I was shocked by the Excessive XRAYS taken as I am fearful of radiation. They took no less than 18 pictures. I even questioned it after the first 10 or so. Since I am new and my insurance allows for this Huge amount that is what they do. I had her change out 1 filling from silver to composite and that went ok. But the Laundry list of things to do and having crowns put in etc. was off the charts. I asked for my xrays to be emailed so I would not have to deal with such an issue again. Had to ask 4 times. Almost 1 year later got them. Fast forward this year. I just want a cleaning. She wants more xrays. NO thank you just a cleaning. Dr is behind in the schedule. Assistant Polishes my teeth before they are even cleaned of any plaque or even looked at. F.F. my next appointment. I am early for 3:30appt.. She is not there. Only desk person on her first day. Dr has been out since late morning and it's now 3:35 she calls in to say she is on her way. Appt. is for 3:30. I left since she has no respect for me, my time or new staff. F.F. to new appointment at 11:45. I am on time she is with one or two in the other rooms. I am in the Chair now and ready. I over hear the one finished and constantly talking about insurance and what to do next. She enters, Starts my cleaning and exam and gets up after 3 minutes.Looked at about 4 teeth. She went to talk to client in other room. Gone 5 minutes. She is back and starts again, after 5 minutes she leaves again and talks to staff in other room. I can't believe this. She starts again only to leave for the 3rd time. I am beside myself at this point and would leave but what good would that do since insurance would pay her anyway. Threw this " Cleaning" she left 3 times, said I need 2 crowns, wanted to do xrays again, and somehow made my tongue bleed. Probably from not paying attention to what she was doing.The entire cleaning took 50 minutes. I was there just 3 months before so not much to be done. MY Thoughts. She is Not Qualified to practice. Her Machines are 20 plus yrs old, She is only there for as much money as she can get from your insurance. First visit she didn't do Invisalign. Now she is all over it.
