He gave me options and explained what would be the best option and got me in as per my convenience for further check ups and tests. Got my first progressive lenses here and was explained by one of their patient on how it would take a little time to get used to progressive lenses. Every contact wearer knows the pain - when a contact tears in your eye and refuses to make an exit. Acute Vision (AV) Optometry, located on Alvarado Niles near UC Post Office and the library, saved my butt (or rather, eye) on a particularly harrowing day. That's right. A contact ripped in my eye and I could not for the life of me remove the separated piece. This meant hours of going around with an eye that was watering like mad and very uncomfortable. Luckily for me, I was able to make a same day appt here to get my eye examined and the contact removed. Everyone was so friendly and kind from the moment I called to when I left, contact-free. If it weren't for AV's efficient and timely services, I probably would have had to go to urgent care. ​Extremely disappointed with the outcome. My appointment was in August of 2025. I wanted to make this my forever Optometrist as my previous one retired and closed his office. I want to give half a star. If only that were possible. They schedule you at 10:00 am, and you don't see the doctor until 11:00 am, as if my time is not essential. When I saw the doctor, he refused to close the door, providing me with privacy as we discussed my personal health care. Hello HIPAA. I haven't gone through the numbers, but I'm sure I was overcharged. The frames took forever to arrive. The office assistant is not friendly and helpful. I have called multiple times to request my prescription. I have sent various emails requesting my prescription. I have left many voicemails asking for a call back. I have not heard from anyone to date. I don't have a copy of my prescription. This is horrible customer service. Do not use this Dr. Saul Cepeda from Acute Vision Optometry in Union City, California. Love going here! the doctor is super knowledgeable. He took his time to understand my health issues and eye condition so he can give me the best recommendation for care and glasses. While waiting, I heard and saw him talking to other patients and I can tell that he's passionate about his job & truly cares. I worked for an optometry before so I can tell which doctor and office deserve a 5. My shoutout is to the receptionist/front desk lady. She is super patient with me and went above and beyond to call my VSP to figure out my benefits (it was a bit complicated). She also squeeze me in when I had to use my insurance ASAP (because I was leaving my job and it was the last day to use it). Also, when I needed her to email my prescription to me, she didn't ask why, and immediately sent it to me right away. In my old office where I used to work at... the front desk people were not as caring and patient at all (also why I left lol but that's another story). So if you got this far.. just ignore the negative comments below and give this place a try. You can thank me later! read more

Made an appointment for today because I saw the good reviews and found them on my insurance website under my plan. But then when we got there, the receptionist said we aren't covered. What? So we tried to get more of an explanation and showed her the information we got from the anthem website but she stuck with her story. Im blind as a bat and never had the time to go get my eyes checked. Finally after my girl went to get her eyes examined, i decided to get mine checked as well. We decided to go here because it was right next to our apt. Everybody at Acute Vision was nice and very helpful in answering questions and being patient with us as we decided on what glasses to get. This place is awesome the people here at the desk are really nice and works with you in payment options if you don't have any insurance. The prices here for the eye exam and the glasses itself are priced average. And the coolest thing in here is that they can speck spanish and tagalo. I took my daughter here for an exam and to purchase a pair of glasses for her. The staff are friendly and helpful. Doctor Cepeda was great. The problem is they told us her glasses will be ready in 7-10 business days. It's been 11 business days and still no glasses. I called and asked about it and they told me because of the anti reflective coating, it's going to be another week. Why the F did they not tell me that when we ordered the glasses there?? They obviously knew it was going to take that long because the lady I talked to over the phone tools me it takes longer for the ARC. I could've just got the prescription and bought the glasses somewhere else if I knew it was going to take that long. I've never had to wait this long at any other places even with the anti reflective coating. read more

My young daughter recently complained of eye strain and blurry vision. Not surprising since almost every adult that she is related to already wears corrective lenses... so I looked for someone close to our home who takes VSP, sees children and could see us within a day or two. It's not that there was anything wrong with this office or staff, exactly, but considering that they actually _say_ they specialize in children, well, they need a little work. My daughter did not see Dr. Cepeda, she saw a female doc who had a shrill voice and kind of berated my daughter for not sitting up straight in the chair and not speaking loudly and clearly when responding to the questions asked. Well guess what? My kid WAS sitting up straight-- she's just very short! And why on earth would my kid be loud in a very quiet office when she's completely intimidated by this whitecoated person of authority? I was disappointed. I told them all before the appointment and upon arrival that my daughter hadn't been to the eye doctor before and so I expected that they would explain as we went along what the tests were for, what was going to happen, etc. Wrong. Their pediatric "bedside" skills are lacking. If you need zero handholding and are able to sit up very straight and speak loudly, this place is probably fine for you. If you're 7 yrs old and short and a little shy and the doc makes your mom sit on the opposite side of the room, maybe go see someone else. The reasons I give them one star is because my daughter did end up with purple sparkly frames that she loves. read more

The Dr. scheduled me on short notice in order to help me with an eye exam required by work. He was quick and efficient with the eye exam. He explained to me my strengths and weaknesses and how my vision future may be. His daughter, Amanda, was helpful in explaining my eye insurance to me. She was also helpful in getting me a pair of nice, stylish sunglasses. I will be returning here and spreading the word of good customer service and quality eye care. read more

Acutevision Optometry is a great business for a variety of adult and kid glasses. With school started I needed to get my Son some glasses. We walked in and made an appointment. Upon our return we were welcomed by a really nice young lady, Amanda I think her name was, that helped us not only find some really nice glasses for my son but made him for really cool that he had some.
