I was in Victoria BC for few days and I needed a rear tire to come back home in SoCal, I called 3…read moredays before arriving to Canada and I called the dealer, they were booked but not only made room for me but they has the rear tire I needed, once We got there service was great, then after replacing the tire we were ready to ride around Victoria Island. Anyway, the day we were leaving our rear tire popped off the wheel, BMW roadside assistance only took from hanging op the phone 14min for the tow truck to get were I was, driver inspected, inflated the tire and went straight to BMW Victoria to get it inspected, they took care of my rear tire and us, adjusted the suspension, recommended to level the load to have a safe ride back home. Personal opinion and few reasons why might this happened so I blame 40% shop / 60% myself but luckily all worked out due to a quick thinking and group effort from Bmw roadside assistance who used CAAA, Island BMW motorcycle crew and of course myself. The bad thing is they do not have enough shop apparel something like shirts, hoodies, etc BMW Motorrad Victoria. He picked up the bike April 1, 2020. The repair was delayed due to a part shipment but was completed on April 20th. I was sick, so paid over the phone via his square up. I had originally done paperwork for this consignment in 2018, but ended up not taking the bike in as there was a delay in Matt picking up for me. So, I felt this was going to be a positive experience. Matt assured me he had lots of interest in Harley's as he had just sold one the prior week and would get mine on his updated website/Facebook soon. My periodic observation did not confirm his words. I was very ill and isolated at home for the next few months and wasn't able to stay on top of this process. To my knowledge, there's been no serious offers on my bike. 2011 XL883L HD with 400 original miles, so I wanted to discuss dropping the price. $5000 asking...no hanging tag on my bike in his shop. (seen through the window) I left a note on the door yesterday, 8-6-2020. The number to the business is disconnected, he is not answering me on his cell. As a combat veteran, I try to think outside the box and remain hopeful that this young man with over 20 years mechanical experience will do the right thing and face his customers as he is young and has many years of opportunity to experience. Luckily I found this place, the guy in front told me to talk to Will in the back. I spoke to Will and he asked me to bring the bike around, in two minutes the bike was up. The breaks were taken off. Just spinning the wheel, no scraping. Will sanded and filed each break caliper by hand, cleaned up the rotors, put it all back together in no time. Now breaks work better than before. No scraping. Back on the road I go. Will just asked me to pay for fraction of the labor. Which was very generous. But I dud have to go get cash.

October 31, 2023, I bought a 2016 BMW S1000XR, with 71,000 km on it for $8500. At the time, there…read morewere 3 XRs, but a "BMW Master mechanic" working at the dealership told me that this was the best of the 3. The bike ran well, but when it was in neutral, and the clutch disengaged, it was a bit noisy, but 75% better after the bike warms up. I asked about it, but was told it was normal. When I looked online, several articles said that the clutch was noisy, and a factory defect. When I serviced the bike, I asked about the noise again, and was told not to worry about it by a "BMW Master mechanic". Also, the bike had the fuel pump replaced as it was a factory recall. And again, nothing was said about the clutch noise. Since the noise wasn't getting any worse, a qualified mechanic said it was nothing to worry about, and there were no performance deficits, I didn't worry about it. Fast forward to 2024, when I wanted to see if I could afford a new bike. I took the bike into IMC for an appraisal. The bike had 83,000 km on it, so 12k more than when I bought it. I didn't expect to get back what I paid for it, but I felt $7000 was fair, especially since the tires had been replaced 4000 km ago (they were close to worn out when I bought it), and I had a 500 dollar camera system installed (by a BMW Master mechanic who worked at the dealer). And since the Blue book price for trade-in was $8600, I thought $7000 was fair. However, after the inspection, they claimed the "noise" was possible signs of clutch or transmission trouble and wouldn't be able to give me anywhere near $7000 for my bike. This is what a disreputable dealer does, sell you something "broken", tell you "not to worry about it" when you ask about it, but when you try to trade the bike in, they stiff you. To say I'll never set foot in that dealership again is an understatement. I had planned to spend $20,000 plus my trade-in on a brand new XR. But guaranteed if I still buy one (since BMW knew about this problem, but didn't recall it, I'm doubtful), it won't be at Island Motorcycles. Edit 1 After searching online, and discussing the problem with the best motorcycle mechanic on the Island, I found that the outer clutch baskets from 2010 to 2020 on the 1000 series bikes are defective, including the RR and the XR. I talked to a professional machine shop in Texas that specializes in racing application clutches, and he's fixed and modified over 500 of these defective clutch baskets. It's a $2000 part to replace at the dealer, and he fixes them for 400 US. Below is a picture of one of his modified clutch hubs, and below that, the stock clutch hub. Mine is on its way to Texas now.
