He provided a very detailed ( one of the most detailed estimate , the amounts were stated with the precision to cents) for my backyard on the 2 nd day after the initial meeting. Moreover, he provided a visual and beautiful picture along with the proposal. I appreciated his time and efforts. We tried three different options in order to make it affordable. I would highly recommend him as your designer. We had irrigation repair done by Action Lawn & Landscape. Their work was great and they were able to solve our problem. I would love to be able to give them 5 stars for their work. Their office staff were super helpful and gave answers easily. It is only 3 stars because of the customer service with the employee we worked with. He promised us quotes and completion of work and did not follow through without us messaging and calling. In the end, we were without water for 24 hours with no prior notice and were expected to pay more than was on our original invoice. He said that we were "told" about the water being shut off and the additional fees. These were both communicated at the last second without any notice. Transformed our yard from a dirt view to a delightful vista! As a first time homeowner my wife and I are naturally very proud of the home we purchased. The yard, however, was incomplete. We have very high expectations and demanded a lot from the potential landscapers. I used October, November & December to interview landscaping companies. The first two providers got fired for poor communication and failure to provide a cost estimate in the time they said they would. My estimator, landscape architect & main point of contact, Jacob H. exceeded my expectations and I awarded them with my business. Scope. Their job was enormous. Paver pathway from front driveway to the opposite corner in the backyard. Concrete patio 8'x15'. Estate Wall retaining planter 78' long 18" to 21" tall. Stonewall II Peanut Planter 28' long x 6' to 10' wide or 68' total (proudly the largest one they have made to date, my milkweed garden). Irrigation to the planter and the 21 new plants on different sprinkler zones. Design and approval. The house exists within an Home Owners Association. Landscape plans must be cleared with the Design Review Committee. Their criteria is outlined in a 24 page document. Jacob H. drafted all the required documents which created a trifecta of clarity between Action Lawn & Landscape, the HOA and me the customer. January and February was used to revise the plant list, materials and architectural drawings. HOA approval was received in late February. The HOA expressed their satisfaction with the architectural drawings on both occasions that I presented them. Execution of the project. In March we broke ground on the project. All work was completed as planned and on schedule. Materials were delivered as needed. The crew worked for eight days, even working in the rain. I requested that the grade be adjusted near the fence and it was taken care of properly. We did a final walk thru of the project two days later, no problems were found. It is now one month later (at time of review). I have been enjoying watching the plants grow. The seeds I planted in my new 180 square foot peanut planter are sprouting. Appointment booked with Adam, their 'Creative' Designer several weeks ago. He came and all he talked about was money. I was upfront from the beginning prior to the appointment what my budget is... but the entire conversation was about costs, cost to get the wheelbarrow through the gate, cost about every thing except the landscape!!! It was all he discussed with no ability to even share creative ways to approach the back yard - why, because he had no idea whatsoever. Nothing creative about him at all, he doesn't have a clue what to do even with a number of suggestions on my part as to how the back yard might be transformed. Was promised a design with a quote in one week, nothing. Called two weeks later, was told Adam would get back to me that day - it has been another week with no follow up. Don't waste your time! I had an excellent experience when by backyard was finished by Action Lawn. I posted pictures both before and after that you can find under photos. We purchased a new construction home in March 2013 and wanted our backyard finished by Memorial Day. Several contractors came out to give us ideas and estimates (too many for me to remember). Action Lawn and Landscape had the owner Saul come out to do the estimate. He was the most professional and I liked his ideas. He has a lot of knowledge of landscaping and I can tell that he has actually done the work. A couple of the large contractors in town quoted us twice what Action Lawn cost, with fewer features. They also sent out guys that called themselves "designers" and didn't know as much as Saul did about what could be done. I appreciated Saul's down to earth and professional attitude. He was willing to listen to what I wanted in my yard and made it happen. The crew was amazing and professional. All of the guys were true professionals arriving early and working hard all day. The guys appeared to be in their 30's and were clean-cut. I felt safe having them work in my yard. They also appeared to know what they were doing. Several of our neighbors have hired other companies that took twice or triple the time to complete their jobs. I was pleased that Action Lawn was finished in five days. We had all of the following installed: cement on the side of the house, patio paver patio (all leveled perfectly), grass, irrigation, drainage, raised bed garden, plants and vines, decomposed granite, and a decomposed granite patio in one area for a fire pit. I am very pleased with my results from Action Lawn and Landscape. From the estimate, to the work, to the price (very good price), and timely work. They are great. In follow up with Action about replacing dead plants, it took extra complaints but they replaced 8 plants. Today, after 2 weeks of trying to locate why several plants aren't getting water, we discovered many leaks, failed zonal location and the burying of old drip system without disconnection...whoa is us to undo the redo of the initial do. Fantastic! I called with a water leakage emergency and they came out, dug up my system, and found that the source of my $500/mo water bill was and old busted pipe that the former landscape company just never bothered to look hard enough to find! They were thorough and tested the system at each phase to ensure it all worked. I also love that they have a program that goes over everything you are going to need throughout the season, add it up, and apportion the payments out so your monthly payment is the same every time! Working with Joe Blackham at Action Lawn and Landscape was an amazing experience. His excellent customer service was above and beyond. His knowledge of trees, shrubs, perennials that thrive in our climate (Reno, NV) was terrific. Action Lawn & Landscape worked from our landscape architect's blueprints and nailed every detail. The crew installing the landscaping were well qualified, hard working, professional and very polite. Joe told us our project would take about one week to complete and it was done in one week! Worst Landscaping company I have ever dealt with. Signed up for weekly mowing and an irrigation turn on for a rental property. It took Over a week to get a call back. When they came out to perform the "Irrigation turn on" I got a call from the tennant stating they had no water in the house, so I had to go out and turn the house water back on. After 2 months of mowing I got an email from them stating that the grass was dry and I might want to check the watering time, at this point I found that they never even turned the sprinkler system on from the garage. Once that was done one of the main valves was broken no doubt due to their incompetence. They then refuses to pay for the $1000 repair to the broken irrigation valve after I left 3 message asking for a response over a 2 week period. Terrible company choose someone else. read more

This company is the most dishonest criminal company that has ever done work for me. All I wanted done is my sprinklers turned on for the spring and my lawn dethatched. They charged me $200 for this, even though my past yard guys did it for under $130. After a month or so went by, they sent me a bill for more work they claimed they did. I had never signed off on this work. It was an additional $150 bill out of no where. I tried to call their office, no one answered, I figured it was an error that they had resolved. Then a month later they sent another bill with more new charges. They did the same thing to my mother two weeks later. Any other lawn company in town will do the same job without the dishonesty and criminal behavior that Action exhibits. I will never use them again and I will never recommend them. read more

Good luck getting an appointment My husband and I live in Sparks and have coordinated with this company twice now to come out and give us a simple quote on landscaping for our yard. Since they are only open M to F 8 to 5 this left us very limited with our work schedules on when could meet them at our house to discuss our ideas. We made an appointment on a Thursday several weeks go and we took off work in order to meet them at our home. The guy that was supposed to come out booked our appointment incorrectly so no one knew about our appointment. Saul was able to come out and spoke with me and my husband at length about our ideas for the landscaping. He said he would contact us with a quote and a design outline in 2 weeks at the latest. 2 weeks came and went with no contact from the company. My husband called and it turns out they were never drawing us up a quote because Saul was not the guy who should have come out in the first place. Fine. We were irritated and thought we would give them another chance so we scheduled Joe (the estimator) to come out and take at look at our front yard with us. That was on the books for today 2/18 at 2:30pm, my husband confirmed this several times with them. My husband came home early from work today and guess what... Joe is out of town and no one knew about the appointment. At this point Action Lawn and Landscape just lost my business and the business of anyone I know. I would never recommend them. They need to fire whomever is making the appointments for them and fast before they lose any other potentials clients. read more

I paid in full in advance for lawn and sprinkler service for the 2015 season. Lawn service included everything except cutting the grass. There were to be monthly visits for lawn and monthly for sprinkler. According to Action's scheduling, these were separate visits. I told the supervisor that I always keep the gate to the backyard locked, so I needed to know before they came so I could unlock it. Here is what occurred. Problem items are marked with an asterisk. February lawn ok March sprinkler ok *April lawn no notice provided *April sprinkler don't know if service was provided May lawn and sprinkler ok June lawn ok *June sprinkler schedule change but didn't tell until asked; replaced 2 pop up sprinkler nozzles to increase spray distance, charged labor $87 and parts $6 (sprinkler nozzles can be replaced by hand and this should have taken 5 minutes tops) July lawn and sprinkler ok August lawn ok *August sprinkler schedule change no notice provided September lawn and sprinkler ok *October lawn no notice provided October sprinkler ok *November sprinkler schedule change no notice provided The crew that came out did a good job. All of the items above with an asterisk mean only half of my yard was serviced because the office couldn't set and keep to a schedule. After the first time repair was provided at a high labor rate, I didn't allow them to provide a second repair and just did it myself. read more

TERRIFIC JOB - Couldn't be happier!!! I'm a new homeowner that needed to completely redo my lawn and add new landscaping. Over 3000 sq. ft. of new sod, added concrete curbing, rocks that matched my pre-existing landscaping, 2 new shrubs, 2 new trees, mulch/edging around my trees, and got my irrigation system up and working again. Did the whole job for a fair, reasonable price, in a VERY timely fashion! Saul, the manager, was super pleasant to work with, as were his workers - VERY PROFESSIONAL! We've been using them for 2 years now, and counting...We called them again when we had a sprinkler leak (after the winter) - they were out the same day and had it fixed (and checked all the other sprinklers too) in less than 30 min. First the good. Alejandra is fantastic (the office administrator). Now the bad. I paid roughly $150 in advance for them to come out and do a "one time cleanup" of a house I recently moved into. Evette came here, met with me, looked it over and provided the quote. I agreed and after the rains a week or so ago, their team came out (3 individuals). They were supposed to trim, clean and spray weed killer (front and back). When I was in the back yard with the lead of the team, I told him "oh and while you're trimming, if you want to get the stuff poking through the fence feel free to do so". The guy nodded. I also said "when you're done let me know and we can review things". So they were here for roughly an hour doing their thing -- and then bam - they just left without saying anything. I went outside and saw an entire area in the front wasn't blown or cleaned, and on the front side of the house there was still a lot of debris. They did trim the "mini jungle" I had on the rear side of the house, and they also trimmed the sage poking through the fence, but a ton of debris was left. I wanted to wait a few days to see if the green weeds were going to die (I didn't know the extent of the spraying they did). I called and notified Evette, and she drove out here and agreed with me they didn't clean up the front areas. But when she saw the debris from the trimmed sage that was poking through the fence, she said "oh they weren't supposed to do that". Well, it took them all of 3 minutes. I apologized and told her I didn't mean to go beyond the order and if they did a fantastic job elsewhere I'd be OK paying a little extra; but the problem is they did a mediocre job at best (which she agreed with!). So she said she would send them back out "next week" (this was last week). Well, I called yesterday and Evette informed me "the owner" decided not to send them back out because they trimmed the sage and that wasn't part of the deal (wholly ignoring the fact they didn't even do the cleaning they were supposed to, which Evette even confirmed). We're talking about something that probably took 3-4 minutes total (no joke). I told her I was very disappointed and asked if they would at least come back out and spray again since they missed a number of areas (I already have green popping up!). She said she would check with the owner and get back to me (yesterday). So here we are; no response, and in the end, it doesn't really matter. They didn't do a good job at all (cleaning up) and then made excuses as to why they weren't going to come out and do the job they originally said they would. So, I recommend passing on this company. I certainly won't use them again. Now I have to go out and get my own weed killer and spray down areas they missed and clean up the debris they left behind... read more

Now, a week later, they just called to say they were "over-booked" and couldn't make it out tomorrow. Not what you want to hear with a water leak. I was recently looking to have sprinklers and a front lawn installed, and Action was one of the companies I asked to bid on the project. Sal, their estimator, spent time asking me questions and making suggestions, and then spent some extra time inspecting the yard. Their estimate was highly detailed, and ended up being a few hundred dollars cheaper than the other bid. His crew came over as scheduled, and my sprinklers and lawn were installed in less than two days. I especially appreciated how the crew were always busting butt, but also took their time when the job called for it - when digging under the side walk for example. I contacted Action Lawn & Landscape to give me a quote on backyard landscaping. I would be needing a retaining wall and pavers. They were busy and told me that it would be 3 weeks before they could come out and give an estimate. I was okay with that, I was in a hurry, but understand that sometimes you can't get right in on busy schedules. So three weeks later, the day finally arrived, I got a call from Action on the morning of when they were to come out. "Sorry, our schedule is busy, we going to have to reschedule your appt." was the message I got. I told them I had already waited three weeks and he said yea, sorry, but we need to put you out another three weeks before we can come out." I understand being busy, but I also understand that if that's the way they view the customer's valuable time before they have even start a job, this is not a company I want to entrust a large renovation project to. read more
