When I set out in this backyard adventure, I had 12 different bids. We live in Spanish Springs (Sparks). We narrowed the 12 to a final few. One of those was Creative Gardens. Creative Gardens has an actual retail store in Sparks so you can always find them. We dealt with the owner, CJ, who was very knowledgeable on designing a backyard. He listened to what we wanted and then produced a virtual reality model of it on a large screen right there in the office. He had the ability to make real time changes as we requested them. This is a family operated business with CJ being the 3rd generation owner. His mom is the office manager and his sister runs the retail operations of the store. From the minute we walked in the door, they put us at ease and made us feel very welcome. The fact that they could make real world changes on the computer sold us on going with them. It was that and how well they treated us from the moment we walked into the business. During the build we had multiple changes and additions. The field supervisor, Jeff, is awesome to work with and doesn't know the word "no". He always says "we can do that". Their work crews were also great. Their crew leader, Cruz, can build just about anything and runs a tight ship. We really couldn't be happier with our backyard and the relationships we built with the Creative Garden staff. I was searching for a company that etched addresses in large boulders. Creative Gardens was the only company I found that advertised them. I called and CJ, the owner, helped me immediately. Talked me through the sizes, prices and the whole process of delivery and set-up. He even sent me pictures of other rocks he had etched so that I could see more of his work. I ended up choosing a large rock-roughly 4'x4'. I wasn't in a rush so it did take a few months. CJ and his team did an amazing job with our backyard - we just wanted a simple, easy to maintain landscape with a pergola, the team finished in only 2 weeks and were super nice and professional. We are really happy with it! We worked out the low maintenance trees and plants and installed a drip system so we never even have to water anything - it's great but their customer service is what makes them stand out even more and makes me want to recommend them to my friends - to give u an example, Jeff the project manager was driving by one day after the project was complete and noticed a swarm of bees outside my backyard and alerted me so I could have the HOA remove it (just in time for my baby shower too!) and also 1 of the trees didn't make it thru the winter so CJ had his team come back and planted a new one! They are the only ones in town who sell bubbling water features and you will be AMAZED like I was of the quality and inventory. They have over 25 different types of stones. You can get it drilled for a water feature or have it undrilled as a decorative rock and have it placed in your yard. They even do rock engraving for address or memorial. They have every single pond-less water feature on display so you can see what it looks like running. You can hear it, it's really an amazing place. They encouraged me to take pictures so I can go home and look at the ones I liked and make sure it went with my back yard and make a decision on purchasing down the road. Continuing our search for ideas for our landscaping needs we stopped here about 1pm on a Saturday. It was not too busy and because of the Corona virus they were restricting entry to 5 people at a time although it did not appear as if there was any enforcement. We were amazed how many yard art type items they had in addition to the plants and trees. They have a lot of rock bubbler fountains that are impressive along with some very cool mining carts and even metal dinosaurs. We felt the tree and plant selections were very good and the prices seem very comparable with others in the area. My wife was able to find the ornamental grass she was looking for which she had not yet seen at other places we had visited. We will definitely be back!!! read more

Wow!!! Absolutely breathtaking. I went into their new location today and it was it the ULTIMATE outdoor showroom. There is none like it in town. The attention in detail with the custom fireplace and the sunken fire pit, not to mention the outdoor kitchen area with the bbq island and bar is outstanding. Everything is beautifully landscaped with sitting walls and gorgeous pavers. It looks like something out of a home and garden magazine. My husband and I were looking for a water feature and they have the biggest selection of water feature bubbling rocks and basalts. I am writing this review because it upset me to see all these people praising CJ and his work. Because, yes, he is awesome and the initial process with him and Lorrie was great. I was so happy and optimistic at how my 75+ plants would grow in beautifully and create a perfect backyard oasis. But, now at about 6 years later, I have had to replant all my thulia trees, one of my maples died, two other trees are barely hanging on. I am still stuck with the pavers they sealed that did not allow to properly cure and still show work boot prints and lift truck trail marks. Fortunately, we now have a very good landscaper for maintenance and necessary upgrades. But, it has come at great expense, obviously. I am sharing my experience and opinion. I hope nobody else has to share a similar story. read more

This family owned business has been amazing to work with from the early stages of design all the way to the final stages of adding plants n projects last minute, changing our fountain area rock after it was Installed and constantly changing and/or adding additional work to our project. And Creative Gardens did it all guilt trip free and with a smile. CJ is not only easy on the eyes he has a great eye for design and has a strong ability to incorporate the customers design while also adding in some smart, innovative and knowledgeable suggestions. CJ and his Mom Lori have a vast knowledge of trees, shrubs and a great selection of materials and fountains to choose from. Creative Designs was honest from the get go on budget & time expectations and when they could start our project. They didn't just tell us what we wanted to hear but were realistic about expectations and once they started ... They worked extremely fast and efficient. Creative Gardens work crews are also very knowledgeable and nice as well. These guys work hard but it's always nice to hear them laughing and enjoying their profession. They take pride in their work down to the finest cuts from brick to perfectly blend into the rock. The turf Creative Gardens installed a couple years ago is still holding up strong and believe me, with two teenage boys they are not easy on it. From football to Pogo sticks (I still yell at them for that one) to RC cars, its as beautiful as the day they installed it. Creative Gardens did such a great job with our backyard we stuck with them to do our front and side yards and boy are we happy we did. Even our neighbors were impressed with how quickly the crew operated and cleaned up. Creative Gardens is very mindful of the neighborhood during the install phase and the entire block took notice. I've never been to creative gardens before, which seems silly considering I love myself a nursery. They have changed things up since moving from their previous location apparently. They no longer have plants and trees. It's all hard scapes, but there is a wealth of the hard scapes and yard art to choose from. I have been looking for basalts for a week, with no luck after visiting every other nursery in town. Creative gardens has basalts galore including variations I've never seen before. They also have some nice landscaping completed in their yard so you can see what things will look like with your own eyes. The staff was awesome, which was a nice surprise after the last place I went to. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for hard scapes. If you want the cheapest, look somewhere else, but you need to keep something in mind, you absolutely, 100%, without a doubt get what you pay for. We moved into our new home right at the end of 2021 and immediately knew that we need to do something with the 9000 sq ft lot of dirt we bought. We reached out to CJ and asked him to work some magic. From the first walk through to the end of the project CJ and his team were on time, steadfast, efficient and diligent. I really liked this place. I had come once before but I think it was in winter and they didn't have much to offer then. I came back in August looking for a bday gift. Everyone I encountered that worked there was super sweet and helpful. I decided to get my friend some succulents since it was easy and I couldn't find cool indoor plants. For the succulents you can do your own arrangement and use the dirt they have and even use a free pot. I ended up buying a pot since it was for a bday present but if I come back for more succulents I will definitely use some of the free pots. Creative gardens Is a really cute place but I would like to see more variety on indoor plants. I would rather support local store than chains but in this case I wish I went to Homedepot since they had so many indoor plant choices. I'm currently remodeling my house and will be back to get some fruit trees (they had good variety on fruit trees even though it's late in the season). read more
