We approached DRC this summer and started the process of planning a front yard landscape. bothy husband and I were really impressed with how responsive they were. we were pretty specific about the desert plants we wanted, and wanting certain features, as well as a wildflower bed. They worked around a couple of trees we wanted to keep, and cleaned them up nicely. Our entire irrigation system needed to be rebuilt as well. We worked primarily with Tracie (and Juan!) and they were amazing. Ultimately they were able to complete our job in less than a week, a month earlier than originally planned, and made substantial accommodations to work around the new road construction on our street. We're really happy with the new yard, and can't wait to see it fill out over the next couple of years. We highly recommend. As for prices, we had also reached out to another reputable landscaper in Reno and found DRC's on par with others, and a little less than what we were planning for. THEN, I get a call back from one of the owners saying that she isn't interested in my project because they only want to do NEW CONSTRUCTION landscaping! My husband Jon and I just completed our custom home and were fortunate enough to have found DRC Landscape. Danny and Bella provided us with a gorgeous site plan that they executed into reality with perfection. So disappointed. Initial appointment in February went well, they have a great software tool that allows you to see your proposed design in 3D. We decided to go forward and I sent them a 25% deposit to put my project on their calendar. Project was tentatively set for end of April. I was notified that the project would be delayed 3 weeks and that I need to pay another 25%. I pushed back and said that their contract says that the second 25% deposit needs to be paid once construction starts. I let them know that I will pay them the additional 25% when the crew begins. I also let them know that according to the Nevada State Contractors Board (https://app.nvcontractorsboard.com/Clients/NVSCB/Public/ContractorLicenseSearch/ContractorLicenseSearch.aspx), only companies that have a special $100k bond can request more than a 10% deposit. I called the board to see if DRC had the ability to charge 50% upfront before any work is done, and they said no. I was able to cancel the contract and get my initial deposit back ( thus the 2 star rating versus 1 star) My advice to everyone - look up a company on the NSCB website to see what type of bonds a company has, any type of disciplinary action, and know that you can only be charge 10% upfront by any contractor unless they have a $100k bond per business license (not multiple business bonds added up). read more

Good luck getting past their phone person, who isn't super knowledgeable except to imply that unless you are looking for a full landscape design job, replete with things like gazebos, pergolas, and koi ponds, the job is too small. They only take jobs in the $25,000 and up range, which is their right and choice that they only want to serve rich people, but I would request that they make that more clear in their Yelp statement, website, or just answer the questions people have posted for them here in the question section as their provided info is misleading. read more

He agreed that the pavers were not in good shape, so his crew came a few months later and fixed them all free of charge. DRC Landscaping completed a desert-themed landscaping project for us on-budget and ahead of schedule. The design, which was also created by this company, exactly matched what we wanted. We rate the quality of the work as exceptional. Although we live on the property where the work was being done, we were never required to provide any kind of supervision, correction, or guidance during construction. We were "hands-off" because it was clear that every member of the crew was knowledgeable, conscientious, and knew more about what they were doing than did we... right down to obsessing about the difficult storm drainage problem for this job. We also noticed that the crew were conscientious even in the little things, like not leaving any of the heavy equipment idling when not actively in use. That is, the crew members respect their employer and reciprocate the trust placed in them. The crew made zero errors and caused zero damage, even though some of the working spaces were tight. We asked that several non-standard terms and conditions be included in our contract. They complied with all of those. The company seems to be well-capitalized. They own their own excavators, top-of-the-line skid steers, dump trailers, and power tools. This implies that they have steady, year-round work to justify owning their equipment instead of renting, and that in turn means that the owners are committed to this business for the long term. We have no comment on the company's price competitiveness, since we did not solicit competitive bids for this job. read more

When we moved into our house, the landscaping was completely overgrown and very water intensive. Since we are in Nevada we wished to conserve the water and xeriscape our property. We contacted DRC landscaping because of their great Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Danny the owner was great and he assigned a fantastic team to redo our yard. Bella Morales drew up beautiful plans and helped us get approved by our finicky HOA. The work began in June and lasted 4 weeks. The crew led by Juan Silva was extremely hard working and nice. The hardscape work was done well. The workers are hard working and reliable. Our issue was with the follow up work, the dying trees and plants and shrubs and the lack of response from the office staff. Anytime a small change was done it cost $2,500 extra regardless of what it was. There's plenty of great landscapers in reno that I should have gone with for $25k less than we paid. Our neighbors yard is so much nicer than ours and cost almost half of what we paid. They've had no issues. We've had several. I feel we were ripped off and once the company Got our money they didn't care. read more

A year ago we hired them due to their high rating. They transformed a part of my backyard. At first I was very happy. This year plants were dying and they did come to replace them as they had a year replacement guarantee. I then observed that the pergola was shifting only to realize that it was not cemented into the ground. They did send someone out to fix it. I feel like it is always something. Another crew can to fix and put the pavers back after the pergola was fixed. The pavers are horrible. They did it half asses. They are not in a row and in places there is no sand. I am usually not a person to write reviews or be a Karen, however this backyard cost a small fortune and now I have to get someone who cares about doing good work to fix them and pay more money. We just completed a complete yard remodel, including pavers for the driveway, walkway and large back patio. We also had significant changes to our landscaping, replacing grass in the front with w/ water wise plants and replacing grass in the back with new turf. From start to finish, the project was handled professionally, with great communication and total transparency. We had cheaper bids but felt confident that our property would be in good hands with DRC and we were not disappointed. Our Designer, Alex D did a great job of making our vision a reality. She also was integral throughout the process for on the fly changes and questions that the crew couldn't answer. What can we say about the crew? They were AMAZING. I mean 5 star service: kept the job site clean, were very considerate of our home and the fact that we work from home, just phenomenal from start to finish, every single person who worked on our project was friendly, thorough, meticulous and highly skilled. Of note, Juan S, the project manager and Luis P, our crew leader went above and beyond at every turn. They did things that we didn't even consider, like large scale drainage changes, that were challenged with a recent monsoonal rain and everything worked perfectly. Everything but the turf comes with a 1 year warranty and we feel good if we need anything, they'll fix it. They were clean and respectful, very hard working. Our most important request was the completion date, we had planned a large party we needed the yard done for. DRC has completely changed the way we play outside. We have 3 young children and our yard was full of cacti and weeds. It was pretty much unusable. DRC Landscaping met with me, created a design with what I wanted and more, and then gave me a quote and an estimated time frame of how long it would take to complete. Make sure you get a drawing for your project or it will cost you twice as much and it won't look anything like you wanted. Make sure you get a completed date on the contract. My two week project turned into a 3 1/2 month project. They work about 2 days a week. I heard every excuse in the book and was lied to about the lies the owner told. My small area of artificial grass looks terrible and has two seams that are so obvious and I waited over three months for something that was supposedly "in the warehouse" on week two!! I could go on but running out of space. I don't no recommend drc landscaping. the owner is a liar read more

Five stars to Danny and his crew! DRC Landscaping just finished doing my backyard and as much as I dread working with contractors (I've had terrible experiences in the past), Danny and his entire team were professional from start to finish. I had called a lot of local landscapers in Reno and Sparks and many of them either didn't call me back, or gave me impossibly high quotes. I called DRC expecting the same treatment, but the office staff was very professional and scheduled a quote visit within a week. When Danny showed up he listened to my ideas and gave me a solid quote and timeline for the work. I was able to get a couple of other quotes from other landscapers, but DRC was the lowest and had the fastest turnaround time. The work itself is great and we're very happy with our new yard. Danny did a walk through after wards and listened to my feedback and thoughts on the whole experience. He really does put a strong emphasis on customer service and satisfied clients. DRC has a warranty on their plants, which helps give us peace of mind with all the new foliage that went in. We couldn't be happier with the job the crew from DRCLandscaping did in our back yard. The project took a while to get started, planning, approvals and scheduling but once it got started it was amazing. The crew was so fast it was unbelievable they had everything they needed each step of the way so never stopped working for an instant. When we had them change a few things like moving a boulder or moving a group of plants that was already in the ground the crew took care of it immediately. Don't waste your time with the big landscaping companies in town. Danny and his crew are the most responsive, customer service oriented people you will find in any business. It took about 8 months from contract signing to finish but that is because the weather didn't cooperate. Even when the weather got better and they were able to work, the rain and snow returned. They did not rush the job, they waited each time for it to dry out again to ensure the job was done correctly. The price for what you get was good. Very happy with the end result. Quality is their goal and they get to the 100% complete finish line without any hassle. The work is guaranteed and I am not concerned at all that if there are any issues Danny will take care of it. Once again, when landscaping needs were needed, I called DRC for the work. They did such a great job on my front yard back in Oct 2015, I had them return and do my backyard too. Danny arrived a few days early to layout the job they would be doing, with his crew leader. Plans marked out, ideas added, and future plans discussed. This job consisted of, French-drain installed, weeding, tree planting, erosion control, fence repair, river rock and dg laid down.......Would happily recommend their services, and will use them again for my next job later in the year. read more

DRC did a lovely job on our backyard landscape architecture. The trees and ornamental grasses are doing well, the various rocks/DG look nice, and it's relatively low maintenance. Unfortunately, they didn't put in an additional watering zone for us as we requested, so we had to call them back out a second time for the new zone. That's fine, but now a year later we discovered that they did the new zone drippers in a non-standard way, putting 2gal emitters in the main feed tube rather than using barb connectors, then extending them with uncapped microtubing into our patio plants. Then they lightly covered the main feed tube with DG. We routinely check our plants for missing drip heads, and also like to swap them out with microtube soakers depending on what's in our planters. Since the drip tubes appeared to be uncapped, we "fixed" them, and unbeknownst to us, double capped the lines. All of our patio plants died. We figured out why when the lightly buried main feed worked its way out of the DG, since it wasn't buried well. read more

After reading the terrific Yelp reviews, I was eager to work with DRC. Called and requested a proposal to landscape the hill behind my home (now typical NV desert terrain, overgrown & possibly a fire hazard). Explained that I thought the job involved clearing brush and 2-3 small dead fruit trees; possibly terracing the hill; extending irrigation and installing native shrubs to prevent erosion. I was dismissed brusquely with the statement, "We don't do that kind of work," and offered the phone number of a lawn care service. Puzzled, I revisited DRC's website, which lists the following: "Water Smart Landscaping, Brush Clearing, Retaining Walls, Tractor Service & Excavation, Debris Removal." Called again, asking what I may have said that caused the phone answerer to assess my job as being outside of DRC's scope of work. She replied that the company is scheduled 22 days out and my job would have to be done immediately. Not the same thing at all. There was no interest in finding a solution -- and it was very clear that I wasn't going to get past the gate to anyone else in the company. One approach would be to phase the project to fit DRC's schedule -- terracing, planting, etc would probably need to be in late fall anyway. Another would be to offer me an appointment 22 days out, with the suggestion that I get brush clearing done sooner by the "lawn service." Perhaps one has to know somebody to get on DRC's to-do list.
