How the mighty have fallen. One time, this place was great to have a burger, hang out and play some games. Now, the place is depressing. Although the look of the place may have improved a slight bit, the quality and customer service has lower tremendously. Let's start with the "improvised renovation", bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. I'm glad they increase the size of the place. However, they have replaced the chairs with some cheap plastic ones that hurt your butt and your back. The wooden ones he had were better. They also added an extra table so when is full is harder to sit in then before. The new machines are nice but they tend to freeze a lot and can't figure out how to work them. BTW, what the heck is Planet Xenos? the name of the bar? Where is that from? Second, the food. It has gone up. They increase the price of everything $1 to $2 more. Now, you would think the quality will be better but no, somehow they managed to make it worst. The wings they make barely got any sauce. They come so dry and hard, they sometimes hurt my palate. If you ask for more sauce, they want you to pay $2 more for a small packet of their "action" sauce. I ordered another time mozzarella sticks, they were frozen on the inside. The burger buns are soggy, they taste like they were frozen, the meat itself used to have seasoning now it doesn't. When you get a liquor shot, you pay $5 to be serve in small plastic cups. I feel you getting a demo in Whole Foods. And at last and what hurts me the most, the customer service. What a shame. The owner has become less and less friendly since the first time I met him. When I tell him his new game is frozen, he told me "yup, that will happen." And looked at me at like it was my fault. He kept doing what he was doing and didn't came to fix it till like 30 minutes later. Another time, the same machine froze again, I ask for someone to help us and no one could do anything except the owner that decided to leave; and for as much as I asked he seemed like he had no intention to help us out. When I let the cook know about the frozen mozzarella sticks, she gave me an evil eye like she was ready to kill me. I find out the cook was the owner's wife. SMH. When I get my food, its just given to me and never get asked if I needed anything else. They tend to forget my drinks when they bring my food so I had to remind them and I don't get most friendly of responses. I'm not asking for my backside to be kissed, just to act like you care a customer is here. Whatever happened to that nice girl with the cute blue eyes? She was the true definition of great customer service. Was always friendly, would ask how my day was, and make sure I got all the condiments, utensils, and anything else I needed. When the place opened back up she was gone. If I were them, I would bring her back. That could bring some clientele back. I wish they would take these comments in consideration. But with the attitudes the owner and his wife tend to have, I really doubt it. read more

I've lived in the area for a few years and when I saw action burger open I was super excited. This place is pretty awesome. Every time my friends come to my place to visit they look forward to having one of their seasoned burgers, their crisp chicken sandwiches, or even their cheesy Philly cheese sandwiches. They have everything that you could possibly want on a sandwich from spicy mayo to double burgers and their sides include tater tots to onion rings. Had a long day at work? Have a beer. On a diet? Have a salad. This place has everything anyone is looking for and really the prices are not too bad. And let's say your not hungry; the people that work here are so welcoming and nice to be around, you can stop by for just a chat, come in with a friend to play some mortal combat, or just watch one of the action movies they have playing through e day. Really though.... How can someone not love that? I don't know about anyone else, but I definitely have days that I just can't wait to go home and order my favorite chicken sandwich. I absolutely love this place. It is a comic book and video gamed themed restaurant / hang out created by nerds, for nerds. This is not some joint where a hipster transplant with a little money and the desire to open a restaurant decided to create a place that ironically glorifies a youth that had some involvement with video games and comics. This place is earnestly nerdy and, by god, what a place to hang out. The atmosphere couldn't be any more fun. It is a love letter to the history of video games, sci fi, and comics. There are plenty of old school games to play for free or for a quarter, there's always something playing on their two giant flatscreens (last week it was star wars, today it was Family Guy). The walls are plastered with comic book covers and antiquated video games from systems like the original Atari. Throughout the room there are little light box exhibitions showcasing short videos or vintage video games and toys. They have cheap ass drink specials and open bar nights, as well as events where you can geek out with your friends for mass video game playing, d&d tournaments, and more. It is such a great atmosphere where people who never out grew gaming, comics, sci fi and fantasy can fly their flags without modesty or fear of judgement. Their food is great too; always cooked to order, always fresh, and always prepared EXACTLY how you want it. I have never had a mistake on an order, and my orders can be quite confusing. Although the burgers are a bit oily, the meat has a spicy edge to it and the ingredients taste fresh. One slight downfall to the place is that the menu is extremely confusing. It's like trying to read the label of a Dr. Bronner's liquid soap bottle. It takes a few minutes to figure out how to navigate as all of the menu sub categories are broken down in video game language. Action burgers, power ups, etc... it is hard to navigate so it helps to go in knowing exactly what you want on your burger. I love the staff too. They are very kind and very personable. They are passionate about everything the restaurant showcases and will debate (or agree) about anything from comics to movies. The place is fun, sincere, and lacking in any hipster irony. This place used to be pretty solid. I ordered from there pretty frequently for years then over the past year or two things have really gone downhill. Chicken is often over cooked and the whole order almost always arrives cold. Worse, if you order from seamless or grub hub or delivery.com the delivery time always states 30 to 45 minutes and inevitably the delivery often times ends up taking an hour and a half or longer. This is probably the 5th order I've placed in the last year that was over 30 minutes late. I'm literally sitting here waiting on an order that is currently 45 minutes late. Don't believe me? Check the reviews on ANY of those sites. I'm not the only one howling over them intentionally lying about the delivery estimate to grab your hard earned money while you sit there hungry and angry waiting on them to drop by with dinner. 'Action Burger' makes the most scrumptious, perfect, "I'll wrestle you for the last one" Tater Tots ever! Perfectly crunchy on the outside, moist and potato-ey on the inside! And then there's the burgers - seasoned nicely and full of flavor and more zest then plain old chopped meat with salt and pepper. Then theres MY fav, the Philly Cheese steak which is made very well for the meat to cheese to bread ratio. And the rolls you guys use, oh man! These are not kaiser rolls, or potato rolls, or hoagies, I don't know what they are, but their taste and size are very delicious and unique. Also excellent sweet potato fries. This is a win, for a small neighborhood, "mom & pop" small biz. Native NYers opened it, and they're serving up some very good NYC eats. This review is for my burger that was delivered. I ordered a rare burger - it was well done. The amount of cheese was very scarce. Came with one thin barely there slice of tomato and one tiny piece of lettuce. I had to add my own tomato and lettuce but I'm mostly bummed that it was over cooked and dry. This review is regarding my visit in mid April. My girlfriend took me here. Where has this place been my entire life?! Free arcade games and classic home consoles! We spent most of our time on the two arcade machines in the front. I was so thrilled that both machines have just about all the Street Fighter II versions possible. What made it more special was that they had World Heroes on one of them, a rare find since it wasn't as popular back then! Between the two machines, they had every possible classic game. The joysticks and buttons all work perfectly. Now for the food I had. The burger was great! The wings were fantastic! The chocolate mint milkshake was amazing! I await my next return to this palace. The chicken sandwich I had was pretty bland (the Queen Valasca), the credit card machine was broken, and the fries were just okay. Action Burger is currently my favorite eatery. I was first lured in during hurricane Sandy, wandering around my neighborhood, and noticed a burger joint catering to comic book fans. There are stacks of comics to read at all the tables, and two large flatscreens playing superhero shows or movies. 3 arcade games are in the corner by the window, and at least one of them is free to play. I'm a lax vegetarian, I eat poultry once or twice a month, for various reasons. First couple times I went to Action Burger I got the veggie burger and it's OK; seems to be made in-house, fresh ingredients, freshly cooked, I dug the toppings, and liked that they have a sweet-potato french fry option. Then I got the turkey burger. "The Marco." It is quite possibly the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. They season the ground meat with their own blend of spices, top it with turkey bacon and whatever toppings you ask for. I strongly recommend the spicy guac. The staff has always been pleasant, as well as just flat out cool to talk to. The cook gave me the evolution/history of Lobo last time I was there. The prices are fairly low, especially considering the generous portions served. While I can't weigh in on the beef burgers because I haven't tried them, I can't say enough about how awesome the turkey burger is, and how much I enjoy my experience every time I go to this place. read more

Every time I'm in Brooklyn, I always make it a point to stop by Action Burger. It's been my go-to spot for Brooklyn-area burgers for at least three years now. I hate to say this, but, for the past few visits, it hasn't been the same. So, a big comic nerd opened up this burger joint probably as a way to get his hilariously titled futuristic/space/alien graphic novel into more hands. Seriously, you need to read the flyer he has in the restaurant, on which is the summary of the premise of this book, which is overlong and in the form of hilarious, roundabout, ill-grammar laden questions. (It is actually quite hilarious. I'm not being disingenuous here.) In the end, Action Burger is semi-tasty but totes nerdy, and therefore ironically trendy and charming as long as that's still somewhat in vogue. The food was average it's a cool hang out spot for a groups of friends. But do not just attend for the food you will not be satisfied. The basic wings aren't that great, get the BBQ or honey hennessy ones. The portions are pretty crazy. I've never felt so compelled to write a Yelp review before in my life. I honestly am not sure where to start, so let's just go with the food. This is not a great burger place. I came in for a basic bacon cheeseburger. The meat was over cooked and completely grey and the slice of American cheese lay depressingly unmelted on top. The bun was way too large for a burger if that size. I had plain fries on the side which were fine, although strangely completely unsalted. Their ice machine was broken so I drank my coke from a can. This bounteous feast ran me $13. Suffice it to say, if you want a burger in his area there are plenty of better options within walking distance. If Action Burger was an action film it'd be a later years Steven Seagal direct-to-video joint where he's fat and the action scenes just kinda make you feel sad. That said, the most fascinating aspect of this place is the inside. It looks like a comic book store from 1998 made a series of bad decisions and threw up in there. Random comic book covers are pasted all over the walls, old and curiously semi-packaged Star Wars action figures are prominently displayed in back-lit plastic cases embedded in the walls. For some reason a Smurfs movie was playing on the big screen TV, only adding to the mystique. The real gift however is that essentially half the interior of this place serves as a giant advertisement for BIO-SAPIENS, a self-published book series represented by 3D images that make the 90s kids show ReBoot looking cutting edge by comparison. I highly recommend searching Amazon for the cover art. From what I could gather during the time it took me to eat my mediocre burger, some kid named Jaden is abducted by aliens, given superpowers and sports car even Homer Simpson wouldn't design, and has races in space or something. Also there are alien zombies on a plane in book four, or something. Lastly, the ebook inexplicably has a credit on the cover for "Music Direction." The mind can only wonder. The place is absolutely covered in this stuff and it is amazing. Lastly the staff seemed fairly miserable while I was there. Some brave woman was there for an interview and had to be turned away after the woman at the counter called some dude who sounded like he had just woken up. They later gathered around the phone to complain about some stuff to their superior and sounded pretty exhausted. My heart goes out to them. I'd only recommend coming here if you want to eat inside of a giant ad for what I can only presume is a self-published Amazon ebook representation of the inner workings of Jaden Smith's mind. read more

Got recommended it by a friend and when she described it as a 'blue-collar burger place where you can play video games' I had my reservations that it'd be some slick heavily-curated hipster haven. But then I get there, and it's actually all those things! Mom-and-pop owned hole-in-the-wall that serves *the best* American-style fat food, all with heart and creativity, and a bunch of free video games!! Cute little diner on the corner of the street. I got the onion rings and chicken tenders. The onion rings were pretty good, nicely battered and crisp. It's definitely small, but has a few arcade and board games. It seems like a great place to hang out with friends.
