I purchased my Kia from this dealership only two years ago, and I am extremely disappointed. I still owe around $10,000 on the loan, and the vehicle is now inoperable due to major engine issues. A car should not become unusable this soon after purchase, especially while I am still making payments on it. This has caused a huge financial burden and has left me without reliable transportation. I trusted this dealership when I bought the vehicle, and now I feel completely let down. I was sold a car last week and after less than three days of driving it the check engine light came on. I took it to Subaru to get it looked at (luckily they fixed the check engine problem for me for free) and discovered there were several other problems wrong with the car including that the brakes were near metal to metal. Action Auto blatantly lied to me about the brakes being in good condition, and they also had told me when asked about it before buying the car, that they would make sure the brakes were good. When I contacted them to have them fix it and make it right, they tried to make me sign an NDA for them to even look at the vehicle, without even guaranteeing a repair. Had they fixed the problem they KNEW about, I wouldn't have written this review. Because of the fact that they tried to make me sign an NDA before even looking at the car, I think they are super shady and it makes me wonder how many other desperate customers they have made do that for bigger problems. Luckily brakes are pretty easy to do at home or I'd be screwed:) Also highly recommended looking at the yelp reviews, I'm 99.9% sure they are able to remove google reviews and that's the only reason they have a good rating because I can't find my old review I know was submitted! I am quite sure they sell cars with washed titles. The Carfax showed no damage reports of damage and the salesman I texted with said it has a completely clean title, but the car we looked at had obviously covered up damage to almost the entire right side of the car. The right rear door didn't align right with the frame of the car, there was cracked and chipped paint on the top and bottom of the right frame, obvious overspray on the front and rear of the car, the front passenger seatbelt didn't work, and something in the front of the car sounded like the front muffler was missing (I know there isn't a front muffler, but that's what it sounded like). This experience freaked me out from ever buying a car from this dealership. Even though they sell cars "As is" this feels like super deceptive practice since they should do better inspections before listing cars. I have no issue with "as is," but just be honest. read more

They have super high added fees and we were supposedly paying for them to clean and detail the car but they are now having us go take it to get detailed AND pay the extra fees. We found the car we wanted on KSL. They let us take it to an appointment to test it out. It was dirty but that didn't deter us one bit. Just makes me think they are busy. It's a great car. And they got us in and out in an hour. Done. I hate car buying so the fact it was quick and painless deserves all the 5 stars for me. There were so many people going in and out buying cars! We just bought a new used vehicle from action auto in April of 2024. We bought a chrystler Pacifica limited. I found it on car gurus or car fax and it brought me to the action auto page. I made a list of all the vehicles we wanted to see that day. We ended up going to several dealerships and action auto Orem was on that list. We stopped in looking for the vehicle and they let us know that it was not there and might still be on its way to the dealership. They guy was not very helpful and a complete dud. Well we decided to go to action auto in Lehi and we met Trey! He was full of information, gave us details on what was going on with with vehicle and why it wasn't on the lot. He gave me his number and we left. I followed up with him several times to check on the vehicles status and he was very responsive and helpful! A week and a half later he texted me and said the car was finally ready! We drove straight out. He knew who we were when we walked in and brought the vehicle around. The car was perfect. He got the info he needed off the car and we were in and out of the finance department in an hour. Super happy. He even took us to the gas station and put gas in it. Thoroughly disappointed with the service by Action Auto in Lehi. We arrived at opening and were met 15 minutes later by a sales representative. The vehicles we were interested in were not on the lot and were told they could have them in 20 minutes. This turned to almost an hour before we could test drive. When we made the decision that we liked the car we were met with the agent scrolling passed the car fax that indicated damage to the vehicle and claiming to have a clean title. We felt this was dishonesty in advertising. We decided to still pursue the purchase and waited several minutes to speak with the finance manager. In the meantime another buyer was making a complaint that he had to wait and he was a cash buyer. This turned to him getting into the finance manager before us. I paid the vehicle off this year and when I received the title from the credit union it was a salvaged title. Unbelievable. I still have the CARFAX that they gave me and there is no record of salvaged or rebuilt title listed in the CARFAX. Additionally, I have the dealers signature on vehicle application for title claiming it's a "clean title". I paid market price for a salvaged vehicle. This entire process was an unpleasant experience, and I quite frankly do not understand how this place has a 4.5 star average review. Love the car I have, which is the only reason this is a 2 and not a 1 star, but even the car has had its fair share of problems in the last month ($389 for new, previously non-existent, tire pressure monitors, $160 for a busted turbo vacuum hose whatever its called. Not to mention a failure to mention that the car needs premium 91 octane gas, which isn't a crazy big deal, but still). Regardless, the vehicle was listed for sale online as $8,400 and I walked out spending over $11,000 for I don't know what. Just kidding, I do know what it was for. Of course, every dealership has fees, but let me walk you through it. This joint has $697.50 base dealership documentary fees. Ok... reasonable. Not mad about that. BUT, in addition, there is a "Non-negotiable" $664 Vehicle Anti-Theft System that has automatically been installed on every single vehicle. Like what!? Who on earth cares about that? That's what insurance is for. But no, they say it's not an insurance protection. Then what is it!?Upon reviewing the paperwork that I electronically signed on a 6" phone screen, I noticed that one of the pages says "the purchase of this product (the VTR anti-theft product) is optional and is not required in order to finance, lease, or purchase a motor vehicle." But my home boy was adamant that it was required, and it can't be removed. So I don't even know what to believe on that. Next on the line of fees, $194.97 in inspection-emission fees. K... whatever I guess? I can get an emissions test on my own for less than $60 at any other place around town. As for the surplus $130 in inspection? Clearly the inspection wasn't that thorough, because there's also a chance that this car doesn't have proper airbags on it as that was another code that came up when we went to go get the turbo hose thing fixed. Last time I checked, it's pretty illegal to sell a car without proper airbags, and this is the second review I've seen for this place in regards to faulty airbags. Not a good look. Of course, there's then a $186.00 filing fee. Not sure why that should be separate from the dealership DOCUMENTATION fees, but also whatever. What does documentation mean? If it's just your commission or management cut, then just say that. Then of course you have usual your usual taxes and registration fees which I won't get into, because at least that part isn't a scam. Regardless, I walked out paying an additional 31.5% in fees and taxes on the list price of the car (And why not throw the additional maintenance that we've had to do on the car in the first month, rounding it out to 37.9% of the listed price). That's ludicrous man. Again, love the car. Just not happy with the experience. It's honestly borderline approaching a budget airline business model with all their tacked on fees. Anyways, you can make your own decisions, but I for one, will not be buying another vehicle from them in the future. Finally, a note on their phone representatives, don't count on them calling you back in regards to license plate, title, or registration questions. They just won't. I've called 3 times this week, without a single call back. Two of those times were some of the least busy times of week (a Wednesday morning and a Thursday in the early afternoon). They say they'll personally reach out to you, but skip that and just go in person. Anyways, rant over. I, of course, probably made some mistakes throughout the buying process since it was my first time buying a car, but I think they recognized that and exploited it. Beware. read more

Honest customer who purchased a 2017 WRX with 17,400 miles. I wrote a previous review with 2 stars earlier with details outlining how I was sold a muffler delete, but in fact, was sold a WRX with absolutely no exhaust. To give credit where credit is due, Action Auto offered to pay for the install of a new exhaust, but not the exhaust itself. The car didn't pass emissions or safety at MMS (safety not required in Utah, but the document presented at the time of sale from Action Auto indicated it passed both safety and emissions which was clearly fraud both on the account that with window tint was illegal and, again, there was no exhaust.) My first review stopped there. As far as why I'm writing a second public review is to expand on additional costs I paid out of pocket to get the car in working order. 1: Sales sold me a muffler delete. This was a lie. Then argued with me that "how should they have known? Should they inspect every car for exhaust systems? - the answer is yes. Yes you should inspect each car and get them to a drivable state. 2: Boost control solenoid completely missing. Clearly they shouldn't sell a car with a turbo that wasn't road worthy. I purchased at the Orem location. Sales was great to work with, but after reading my 2 star review, I was texted by (what I assume) their customer support specialist. They wanted to know how to boost the 2 star rating. Upon request, I laid out the $800 exhaust I had to install, along with the service from Mark Miller Subaru to add the boost control solenoid, replace the exhaust manifold (this was a recall warranty under Subaru and not related to Action Auto), bolts missing from a previous modification, etc, all in all (with a Mark Miller friends and family discount $534.00). All in all I spent 1,354.00 to get the car to working order. While working with them to negotiate the out of pocket costs I incurred (1,354.00), like clockwork out of a playbook, my clutch blew out on in Parley's Canyon. Never having gone over 4500rpm and only owning the car for 7 driving days. Immediately I called sales and texted the customer support rep and asked what they were going to do? I was pretty pissed off and said I wanted out of the loan and was going to lawyer up. I was met with "let's not let this get to threats." Honestly, I purchased a 26k car, dropped in 1,354.00, gave a 2 star review, and while negotiating with you to get your public rating up, the clutch bows and the best you can do is, "hey, don't threaten us. You signed the 'bought as is' and how were we supposed to know it wasn't a muffler delete?" Well, here's the answer...either fully inspect all your cars, specifically WRX's or don't lie to the consumer and sell a lemon. I was patient and will eat the cost and have a credible dealership (MMS) fix the issues and move on. All in all, AVOID Action Auto. A complete disappointment and a lesson learned as to why used car dealerships get a bad rap. read more

This really is a terrible place to buy a car. Would advise anyone and everyone to stay away from them. To start they throw you with an extra $3000 dollars in "fees" call it the norm but other places in this area don't do it. When I bought the car there was 0 fuel in it. Upon purchasing the vehicle, they agreed to fix a few things that were wrong with it and it took them 3 different whole days to fix one issue because they kept messing things up. Everyone I spoke to treats you like crap and I have been trying to email them since October to get issues resolved it takes about 3 emails and 5 phone calls to finally talk to someone and then they basicly tell you they need more info and then take even longer to respond. I dealt specifically with Andre and Erik both only care about money and don't care about you as a person. We bought a worthless chevy equinox for 20k from them, only to find out they had it jimmy rigged in someones garage to cover up being hit so hard it bent the chassis and shifted the entire block 2 inches. Repairs were done with paper wrapped around wires to cover it up. The car needed over 6k in repairs just to get it running one week after leaving their lot. Miguel, a representative, told us they only put their "150 point inspection" sticker on their windows to give customers peace of mind. The owners are completely unresponsive about it. BUYER BEWARE!! We bought our Sante Fe in January 2023. The car was listed as no accidents, no damage. We ran a Carfax and it was also clean. After we purchased the car we noticed that it had a "sway" when driving on the highway. It was still under warranty so we took it into Hyundai to get it looked at. Hyundai deemed it was in an accident at some time and fixed the problem, $4000 out of our pockets. One year later, we decided to downgrade before the Sante Fe depreciated any further. We are in the middle of the paperwork when a report was run on the car. SEVERE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE was found. This was not through Carfax. When asking the new dealership if Action Auto knew about this, the answer was 100% yes. They had to have know about this damage and sold the car as "accident and damage free". DISGUSTING. This car has cost us an additional $8000 in trade in value. Could we try to get the buy back from Carfax? Maybe. Should Action Auto have disclosed the damage THEY KNEW ABOUT??? ABSOLUTLEY!!! I will NEVER recommend Action Auto to ANYONE!! Young Chevrolet in Layton was AMAZING to us and did absolutely everything they could to right the wrong ACTION AUTO did. Purchased a vehicle from the Lehi location a few months ago. We found the vehicle online and asked to do a test drive, which they agreed to. When we arrived at our scheduled time (10:00am), the sales associate said the car was at their other location, so they would have it brought to us. Several minutes later, the associate said they couldn't find the vehicle at their other location, so they were going to look at another place that they keep their cars. It wasn't found there, either. Finally, after wasting 2 hours of our day, they found the vehicle for us to drive (it was 12:30pm). The sales associate didn't take any time to tell us about the car, its history, the maintenance that had been done, or anything. She gave us the keys and let us drive it, and that was the extent of what she did (after not having it ready for us at the scheduled time, but rather two and a half hours later). Luckily for them, we had done our research and knew it was what we wanted, despite the scratches and dents (they didn't say anything about where they came from). We waited another half hour to talk to a finance manager, who then went through everything very quickly (we appreciated the quickness because we had been there for several hours, but he acted like he didn't have time for questions or explanations). He did a good job of selling his extra revenue sources of in-house financing, GAP insurance, theft recovery insurance, and the service contract (he even lied and said the theft recovery could not be cancelled, when it says in the contract that it can be cancelled within three days of purchase, thinking we would pass the three days without issue). We naively did all three, only to cancel each add-on later on (which took another two months to finalize refunds, and the finance manager made a snappy comment as I was trying to make sure the thousands of dollars I was waiting for would be refunded). While the car is exactly what we wanted, the service was very poor and we didn't appreciate being lied to to our faces. Wouldn't recommend this dealership. read more
