Amazing dealership, if you can really call it a true dealership. I recently sold my daily driver and was in the market for a car. I was searching all day and looking at different lots, but they either didn't have what I wanted, were too pushy, or flat out wasted my time. I found them as I was traveling north up the valley and pretty much was going to give up after them if I didn't find the car I was looking for. I searched their up-to-date website that had honest pricing and no shady "call for price". I found a car I was interested in and headed there. I went in and was greeted and shown the car. I looked it over and really loved the personal touches they put on each vehicle they had (mine had a new set of rims and tires that fit perfectly with the vehicle). After test driving, rather than rush for the sale, Nate really asked questions to get to know me and explained Black Rock and their philosophy about how you should leave with a car that makes others wonder where you went, instead of a car that everyone and their mother-in-law drives (my paraphrase not his exact words). This is a small business I was glad I stumbled upon, and even happier I was able to patronize. I didn't read any of the reviews before I went in, but I wasn't surprised when I saw all the 5-stars on them. Black Rock Auto Sales is by far the best car dealership we have ever had the chance to work with. My girlfriend and I have wanted to buy a Tesla for a long time, but wanted some specific features like AWD, autopilot, glass roof, and black interior. This made our search somewhat difficult especially in Utah, and especially with our budget. Luckily, we crossed paths with Nate Derring, the owner of Black Rock Auto Sales. Nate is the most honest, transparent, no BS, customer pleasing, man of his word we have ever met. Nate went above and beyond searching for the exact vehicle we requested. We were stoked when he called us to let us know it had arrived, and it did not disappoint. Aesthetically it was the exact one we wanted, plus it had all the bells and whistles we were looking for! Until we test drove it. We discovered the autopilot did not work, so we pulled back into the dealership and informed Nate of the issue. After checking things out himself, he the software was never downloaded and installed. Nate let us know the issue, but we still really wanted to buy the car, then he told us the really bad news: it was going to cost an additional $3,500 to download and install the feature. Ouch! This pushed the vehicle out of our price range. We were devastated, we thought it was back to the drawing board, but Nate had other ideas. He could have searched for another one, that hopefully we would love as much as this one. He could have taken advantage of the fact that we REALLY wanted this exact vehicle and used some car salesman tactics to get us to buy the car without the autopilot. He could have talked us into paying for the download ourselves, and we probably would have. He could have done several shady things that people have learned to expect from a used car lot, "move some money from here, push some over there, bada bing bada boom, get outta here!" because you got hosed! He did none of that. Because he had originally thought, and told us, it was already equipped with autopilot, he decided to pay for the upgrade out of his own pocket..... Wait, WHAT?!?! People don't do that sort of thing, especially not car salespeople! Well, Nate did, they also had to replace a faulty camera, which Nate paid for as well. On top of that he paid for us to get a second key, just because we only had one, we didn't even ask him for a second one. We now have the exact car we wanted without going over budget or waiting for another month to find another one. All in, Nate took over $4500 out of his profit to make sure he delivered on what he promised, and that we left as happy customers. On top of the great personality, honesty, and integrity that Nate showed during this experience he also took money out of his own profit to assure he did not break his word. Because Nate is that kind of guy, one who still believes that a person's word means something. I will never attempt to buy another vehicle from anyone or anywhere else. If I ever decide to move out of state, I will literally travel back to Ogden Utah just to buy my vehicles from Nate at Black Rock Auto Sales. I advise anyone who is looking to buy a vehicle to at least stop by and talk to Nate, tell him I sent you there and I promise that you will thank me. Now, I doubt Nate has thousands of dollars that he is just waiting to hand out to anyone who buys a car from him, but I promise you that he will deliver on his word, treat you fairly, and give you the most honest and easy car buying experience you have ever had. By far the best car-buying experience I've ever had. Nate was so kind and transparent about the issues with the car, even though there weren't many. It was listed $1000 under KBB: a fantastic deal. Nate provided me with a free mechanical inspection, new tires, and an alignment without wanting to raise the price. And, before I bought the car he took it to get a safety inspection, the fluids topped off, and an oil change. After a week of owning the car, Nate texted me, saying he'd found a piece of chrome that was missing when I bought it. He found and gave it to me for free.
