I took my car in to have them do a front end alignment. I just had my alignment done at a different shop and my steering wheel was off a bit. Action Auto looked at the alignment and then told me it was almost dead on just off a bit and did not see any reason to adjust anything and were not comfortable charging me a penny. I went in here because they opened at 7:30am for my oil change. some might complain about owner's attitude but the I way see is a '30+ years of experienced' doing business with style. not a hard sales or up sells. lobby is small car dealer level, not fancy but keurig coffee, brew coffee, donuts, fresh popcorn, cable tv, small area where child can play...20+ occupancy comfy sofa. they even had chairs on the cashier section. oh and they also asked if customer needed ride to home but i am not sure if they charge for that. my oil change was $33 dollars while other place asked me $80 bucks. good find!!!! read more

I went in for a smog check. First time there. Very nice facility...clean, organized, comfortable. The service was excellent...they were very nice and fast. Prices are reasonable at first glance, but having experienced their service and hospitality, their prices are more than reasonable. Came into Action Auto for the first time to just for a standard oil change. No problems there. So I figure that this is an okay place to send my car if I have any other problems that I can't handle/ have the time to work on myself. Jump forward a few months later, after I put on some new struts I noticed that I hadn't properly secured my right strut mount and it was moving around. I take it in to Action Auto because its local and I didn't have the time to work on it anymore. They tighten it down and everything seems to be working fine. This is where things begin to get fishy. They recommend that I also get new lower control arms because the bushings are showing their age. After a week or so I start hearing my right wheel squeeking whenever I turn. Finally, after another two weeks of driving around with the sound worsening I have the time to actually see what the actual damage is. Keep in mind I have done nothing to my vehicle before hand since I thought everything was fine except for the bushings. Before I even take my tire off I see that my right tire is MISSING a lug nut and the rest of them were loose. The whole reason that my car was squeaking so much was because the tire was NOT PROPERLY SECURED TO MY CAR. After tightening the remaining three lugs and replacing the fourth the sound is now completely gone. Now, if by some possibly it was my fault that I didn't tighten my lug nuts properly after replacing the struts originally and it just so happened to come loose after the work they did, which I would find odd since I used an impact wrench to tighten them down, wouldn't a mechanic be able to notice that they were that loose in the first place? There really seems to be only two possibilities in this instance: they either forgot to tighten my lugs down after working on my strut or, more concerning, delibrately didn't secure my tire so they could make more business to replace parts that are in general working order. I hope it is the former. Either way, I will not be returning to this business. read more

I'm glad my visit here went well. I was nervous about going anywhere for a smog check because I didn't want to be a victim of "being a woman who goes to an auto place and gets ripped off" lol. They were the only ones in the area with a deal so I popped in late morning one day during my lunch break. A gentleman told me to go to the office and they'll be able to assist. It was a huge office and I inquired about the price of a smog test and the $25 for $50 Yelp deal and they told me I had to purchase the deal on Yelp first then redeem it at the end of the smog test. About a half hour later at the end of the test they informed me that they did some checks on the car and what other things need to be addressed and they would list it on the receipt. The check was free of charge, very cool. After redeeming my Yelp deal my total came out 19 cents lol which they covered. So yes after purchasing the Yelp deal for $25... in total my price came out to $25.19. That's amazing!! A few days later I had a missed call by a number in Cypress and they left a message thanking me for my business and if I have any questions or comments to give them a call. I am so glad I found this place. I was asked to do the task of getting an oil change and tire rotation from my boyfriend and since I'm not too familiar with local auto shops i went to a place in Fullerton and it was sketchy. They told me they don't do tire rotations because they don't recommend it. Not knowing much, this even threw a red flag for me. So I got on my phone and did some research and called around until I found this place. I spoke to Steve over the phone and of course he confirmed that the man I spoke to at the other place was a joke and to come in. It only took an hour to do my car and I did not mind the wait because they have TVs, comfy couches and even popcorn! We have been going to Action Auto for years and have put a lot of trust in them to maintain our two cars. I don't recall being disappointed. To give you an example of customer satisfaction and service just two short stories. 1) My wife's car experienced a problem where the gas petal would no longer work and car only moved along at about 5 MPH. We had it towed to action auto and they found that a screw was missing from the link in the gas petal. They did not charge us for the repair saying it only took a short moment on the lift. 2) Then this week my wife's car had a flat tire and we used compressor to fill it with air and I drove to action auto. While they fixed the flat I had them do an oil change. No charge to fix the flat....why? Well you bought the tires here. So I can tell you from personal experience that people who say this shop is trying to scam you don't know what they are talking about. It's a AAA certified repair station. You don't get that certification for being Johnny Come lately or doing poor work, or not taking care of your customers. If they tell you something needs to be replaced, you don't have to do it. It's your choice. Anyhow, my experience has always been positive and yes ocassionally you have to wait, but that's because they are busy. They are busy because they do good work. If your smart, you'll replace what needs to be replaced. If you think your being scammed then get a second opinion, but I know Nat personally, and I know him to be honorable. I've been coming here for years and have always been very satisfied with the service received, but this last time was so good I decided I had to start up a Yelp account and leave a review. I took my girlfriend's car in to get an oil change and have everything checked out, and all I can say is Carlton Koontz (my Service Writer) is 'DA MAN! When they gave her car a thorough inspection, they noticed her rear brakes were shot. Not only were the pads at 5%, but the rotors were too thin to turn. Carlton went over the prices to get things replaced, and while they were good, I didn't really have the means to get everything done that day. He went well above and beyond what I expected and sharpened his pencil quite a bit. He got the rotors for less than I thought would be dealer cost, gave me a great deal on the pads, and on top of that he pulled his own Triple A card from his wallet to help even more! It was my girlfriend's birthday, and while it wasn't necessarily the most romantic gift, he put together a gift box for the pads so she had something to open, washed her car, and also polished her head lights! Like I said before, I've been coming here for years and never think of taking my cars anywhere else, but Carlton went so far above and beyond expectations I'll make it a point to direct everyone I know there for service. I had to bring my car in 3 times to Not have my alignment done correctly. My tires were squealing the alignment was so bad. They were very condescending each time I came in. The reason for my visit was that I installed all new bushing and suspension on my Classic Mustang. The funny part was that they tried to sell me parts that were already NEW. They use some kind of twisted trick.... they have a $29.99 smog check coupon on their website. They charged an extra $10 because my car is a pilot (they said it was a truck). So I went to California Auto. The total cost was $50.20. There was no difference at all from the other place. On top of that, they have a really bad attitude. After I asked what the total price was, I said that it was the same price as the other shop. The man there just said "Ok. Thank you." , in a high pitched voice that sounded sarcastic .
