When I first discovered the world of baby gyms, I looked into both here and another gym in the area. I ended up choosing The Little Gym because of 3 things: 1) Proximity. We are in Simi and I would have made the commute to the other gym if it was that much better, but it's not 2) Diversity. This might have to do with it being Simi Valley, but I liked the ethnic diversity that the neighboring city was lacking 3) Instructors wearing masks. I like how the instructors wear masks here. I feel like it sets a precedence for everyone, and shows care and concern for others. Not everyone wears masks and that's ok, even I myself only wear it some of the time. But something about them wearing masks I feel sets a good example of safety and cleanliness and is reassuring. My daughter is her happiest at The Little Gym! We love taking her there and will continue to take her there as often as we possibly can, even though we will be moving away from the area. My hubby wanted to go to CrossFit class in the evenings so rather than stay home I decided I would make myself go with him...even though I didn't feel like it was really my cup of tea. This last year or so since of attending classes has helped transform me mentally and physically it to a much stronger and healthier person. Our attempts at speaking to the administration and to the teachers were met with distain and indifference. I actually ordered a book from Amazon called "Teeth Are Not For Biting" and sent them to the classroom. I was never thanked for any of these contributions and for my kind demeanor toward the administration, despite their brusque manner. I asked for reports about my child's progress I was given none. All one teacher would constantly tell me it was that my toddler needed speech therapy! At 25 months old she became very loquacious and at 28 months I knew it was time to switch schools. I decided to visit Mrs. Clark at Monte Vista. Mrs. Clark actually apologize for the treatment that my daughter received the other school and within the first couple of months of enrollment, I have seen a drastic improvement in my child's personality. She is more outgoing, more attentive, happier, and more secure. Her teacher Ms. Foojan provides constantly updates without prompting and she understands my child. The classrooms are personalized, small, and the student-teacher ratio is low. Other staff and teachers from different classes approach me and my husband on a weekly basis and give us positive reports about our daughter. The school has so many wonderful programs and additions to classroom activities such as gymnastics cooking and other extracurricular activities. Specialized care and attention is bar none and every time I pick up my daughter I do not have to go through a barrage of security questions and I have direct access to my child. I cannot stress enough how wonderful the school is and how much it has enriched my child's education and the development of her character.
