This spot is my first venue for all my fishies' needs. I was so happy they rebuilt even better, I have a 75-gallon tropical setup and got a black angelfish last year from them. My Family and I recently decided to get back in to the hobby of salt water fish keeping. Recently, my fish contracted ich from a purchase of a fish from another store in the valley. Needless to say, I will never go back to the valley again and will only use Aquarium connection. They sent an employee out to help install a UV sterilizer to help mitigate the problem. By far the best aquarium store in the conejo valley area of 1000 oaks and even as far north as Ventura. Good knowledge and reasonable prices. Family owned and operated shop that has served the community for years. Other stores in the surrounding area I mentioned I would only give 3 stars at most due to high prices and burnt out owners giving out bad advice. As an example, I bought a clown loach from another store and noticed a speck of ich on the fish and tried returning it before I let it out of the bag within an hour and the young son of the owner would not take back the fish and gave me a cheap small bottle of nox ich to treat the fish. I questioned him knowing nox-ich is not recommended to treat clown loaches because it can damage their scaleless flesh. He would not give me the pricier medication that was recommended unless I paid for it but instead just told me use half the dose - very ticky Tat of him. Those other shops are closer to me but it's worth the drive to Aquarium Connection. Good selection of both fresh and salt water species and corals. They also provide aquarium maintenance services. A friend who was not into the hobby but had a tank in his lobby turned to me for advice years ago. His prior maintenance company was doing an awful job. As an example they restocked his tank with new fish on a Friday knowing his office was closed for the weekend and no one could not monitor it. On Monday all the fish were dead and they charged him full retail for each dead fish and for their negligence. They also had inadequate filtration. I recommended Aquarium Connection and their tank is still doing great over 5 years later. read more

We became to the store about 7 to 8 times spent over $300 with them in the past two months we had a few fish that we bought from them came with it ick and some other infection so we lost 10 fish total that was about $100 worth I came to the lady and I told her about it and she told me that she would give me a discount when I bought more fish after my tank was good on Sunday. We bought $60 worth of fish And they gave me a six dollar discount for the $100 fish I post. I came back to exchange a fish out because it was being bullied by the other fish, the guy came and said this is not my fish. You guys did not buy this from me, but exchanged it out anyways with an attitude. The fact that this guy sees us (the owner) every weekend for the last two months, buying fish, fish food pumps filters, any other products that we need for our fish tank he still questioned it and said that I didn't get that fish from him. the kid that helped me was there he would confirm that I did. and the way that his wife responded to me when I told her what he said to me she kind of blew me off too so customer service isn't important to them. They only like you when you're spending money The two owners have no customer service in r hem. Only the kid does and I wish I knew his name because he has great customer service too bad he works for owners like that I will never do business with them again due to him saying I didn't buy the fish from him if he had just handled my exchange properly without an attitude and not make a smart ass remark to me everything would of been fine even the stupid $6 discount. I wont continue doing business with them. I was so upset with the way, he responded to me. I still spent another $30 with them. I didn't just go in there and exchange for a free fish and the damn fish was only 3.99. Its was all about a 3.99 fish and the way he said I didn't buy it from there after spending several hundreds of dollars with them!! In response to the owners yelp comment to mine they hardly ever give me a receipt. There's only been this most recent time they gave me a receipt and the lady and the man that worked there. They actually claimed to be the owners the husband and wife, so that's why I called them the owners and you could watch the cameras, but did you listen to the conversation ? He questioned me several times saying the fish was not his but he knew the price right away and like I said, if the kid that helped me was there, he would've confirmed that I bought the fish from there. read more

I was just there and every time I tried to walk towards an employee to ask for help the person would walk the other way or go to another column cuz he was too busy. I tried to wave someone down maybe 3 times before I got too anxious and just walked out. :(usually there's a nice fellow here who's very helpful but he wasn't there when I went. :/ ) morning staff here wasn't very helpful. We have been here a few times now and we haven't really bought anything before and we were treated like family even when we were just window shopping. The first time I was here was after an earthquake a month or so ago and they had had a flood and they were still open serving the customers and mopping at the same time. This time we went in looking for some plants for a new 45 gallon tank we are setting up. We spent a couple hundred bucks on plants today because George took the time to help us select plants that would work for the configuration we are shooting for. We will be back for more of their plants and fish. Their plants are nice, they have a huge selection and they are clean and healthy with all different varieties which is what we need for what we're trying to accomplish. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us for fish. This is definitely one of the finest Aquarium stores we've been to in SoCal. When we were there George and Peter were the only ones there, every time I've been there those two guys have always been on point even with just two of them and a bunch of customers, they took care of everybody. and everyone got the same care and attention. I only go for freshwater fish and plants, so I can't speak to their saltwater selection. They almost always have what I'm looking for with a knowledgeable and helpful staff. I drove all the way from Camarillo to check this place out. The store was almost completely empty. One car parked at the same time as me and by the time I left, 25 minutes later, another different car/customer had parked in the same spot and left with product in hand. That means 2 customers had been helped and one of them arrived after I did. I spent the entire 25min walking around the store and not a single person acknowledged me. They walked by me multiple times but no one asked if I needed any help. I was ready to purchase some dry goods and livestock. Most of the saltwater fish looked pretty healthy and the store was well maintained. Some of the saltwater fish were priced way too high and other were priced competitively. Because of the complete lack of service, especially during an extremely slow time, I give them 1 star. I doubt I'll be returning to this place. read more

The first time I went to The Aquarium Connection I was in shock by how amazing it was inside. Huge tanks, colorful fish, basically anything you could possibly imagine for a fish store. I bought a betta out of their huge collection and it was by far the most beautiful fish I had seen in a long time since the local PetSmart's bettas were all dead. When my Goldfish died my other one wouldn't even swim and I knew I had to get another. I went to PetSmart, out, went to Petco, too small, and then I remembered this place. I drove over and became obsessed with the most gorgeous goldfish I had seen. The colors were amazing. Of course, I asked the guy to get it for me but when he said hang on, he picked up a dying fish out of a different tank with his bare hands and threw it into a freezer and proceeded to help me. Without even washing his hands he bare handily picked up my new fish and plopped it into the bag. That is when I noticed all the other dead fish in the same tank. Me and my mom paid and my new fish started its acclimation into the tank. Everything was amazing for a few days but when I came home one day, both of my fish were floating at the top of the tank. I thought they were dead and when I knocked on the tank they both began to move again. I quickly looked it up and it was called swim bladder and could kill them. My new fish had given it to my other one, the shark, and my shrimp. within 2 days of the discovery and a bunch of medicine to slow down and possibly help them from the virus, everything in the tank had died within hours of each other even when I moved each of them to their own tanks away from each other. TAC was the reason my healthy shark, shrimp, and precious goldfish died. For a person that has a fear of death that was one of the scariest things, I have came in contact within a really long time. read more

I live further away but wanted to check out the shop based on pictures & reviews. It was more than I expected & every foot of the store is stocked with items. But it wasn't that that will make me come back it was the polite & friendly staff & owner it makes a huge difference when shopping & spending your hard earned money.
