Family owner restaurant. I meet friends there often, as vary menu. Reasonable price, servers always pleasant. What's not to like?

Usually my go to place for a good gyro with fries and gravy. But tonite (Sunday 3/1/26 around 5:30 pm), I think the person cooking was probably the same person responsible for mopping floors. I got it to take out and boy was I disappointed when i got home. The gyro meat was overcooked to the point of being almost black and hard like beef jerky. The fries were so overcooked they had no soft potato and fried entirely through each fry and were cold. They used to give you a good amount of brown gravy in a Styrofoam container but I received a small tiny plastic cup of gravy. I used to like this place. I may not give them another chance to steal my money. read more

Not as good as I remember from previous visits. Inconsistent quality between the four of us this morning. Mine was good; blueberry pancakes with side of bacon. Blueberries were in the batter. However, Banana Walnut waffle had some little pieces of walnuts in the batter, but just a sliced up banana on top. The waffle was a little soggy. A two-egg scrambled egg breakfast had a very small amount of eggs. Looked like one egg. I know egg sizes differ, but I'm guessing you would serve a specific ounce portion no matter how many eggs it took to get there. Turkey sausage was pretty dry. Coffee was pretty good. The men's bathroom was not real clean. With a limited amount of restaurant breakfast dollars to spend, I think I'll go somewhere else next time. read more

We stopped by for lunch and were quickly greeted and seated. We decided to order some Greek food today because it's a Greek diner. We ordered the Acropol Special and the Souvlaki Chicken Platter. The Acropol Special was very good. It's a variety of Greek entreés : pastisio, moussaka, stuffed grape leaves, spinach pie and of course gyro meat. The souvlaki was a different story. The skewers we overcooked and inedible. Our waitress never checked on us until she delivered the check. I was comped for the souvlaki. The restaurant was clean. We have loved Acropol for years. Ever since the sunset pointe store closed we have ordered from this store. Everything is generally good however they need to train their Togo person better. Our last 5 orders.... Spanikopita & Greek salad for 1- excellent but they forgot the dressing for the salad. Breakfast - 2 ordered of biscuits & gravy with sausage & bacon. They only sent 1 order. 2 gyros with a Greek salad for 1 & extra dressing They failed to put the potato salad on the salad & failed to send the extra dressing we paid for. 2 gyros, 1 spanikopita, 1 Greek salad for 1 & 1 extra dressing. They failed to send bread, butter, salad dressing & the spanikopita! What we received was good but I'd like to receive the full order! Then this last order, 2 gyros, 1 Greek salad & 1 extra dressing for $1.75. This consisted of a half container of dressing. $1.75 for a tablespoon of salad dressing? Pretty sad. Then the salad itself gets smaller every time we order it. This last time it was in a styrofoam container & much smaller however it was still good. The gyros are good but the last couple orders the pita is so greasy I eat it open face & toss the pita. We came in here for a quick lunch and not too shabby. Seems like it's got a decent amount of regulars and have a bar as well. The menu is extensive Came with some bread and butter up front that was delicious and soft sliced French bread. My wife got the lemon rice soup which had a nice zing to it and honestly could have just gotten that. I got the pastrami on rye with some fries. For me the pastrami was a little on the tough side which made it a little difficult to chew through and break off. Maybe it was just cut with the grain? 3rd time trying to have a hamburger. 1st time overcooked, dry. 2nd time, sent back. 3rd time after AGAIN ordering medium rare, received way beyond well done; sent back and received raw, red inside, could see ligaments in raw meat. Told waitress we were leaving to go home and COOK the raw meat. After cooking at home, so much fat; cheap meat. No charge at least. Fries cold and very small portion, sent back horrible tasting coleslaw. Awful after trying to get a hamburger THREE times. Will never return. We came here for lunch today , as we stood to be seated ,we looked around and this place was not busy and yet we stood for over 5 minutes to be seated. Once seated our waitress came over with menus and took our drink order. When shen returned with our drinks we put our order in which consisted of two bowls of soup and a turkey club sandwich which came with fries. We waited over 25 minutes for our lunch to arrive to us. The chicken lemon soup was very salty and was like a bowl of gravy with rice in it and lemon juice. Out turkey club was horrible! The thin turkey slices was the worst quality of turkey flavored bologna. Just rubbery turkey!!! We dissected the sandwich to take the turkey off , thinking well we'll just have the bacon sandwich. If there was 1 slice of bacon total which tasted like old cooking grease. When we received our check , our waitress asked if everything was ok? I told her that the turkey was like rubber turkey and that it was horrible . She then said , next time make sure to order the REAL turkey! Never again will I go there. We've been visiting this diner for years and I promise you the food and service just gets better and better and they don't "know me." Meaning I'm not a recognized regular receiving special treatment. Last night, I took my mom in for a quick dinner. The hostess overhead me saying I was so cold, she brings me her sweater! No lie. How sweet?!! We both ordered Greek style chicken on pita with rice and veggies, soup, salads. Every single bite was fresh and delicious as if someone cooked the food for you at home. High quality poultry and ingredients. A favorite local spot. Just note you go there for the food. The decor is dated but that's usually a sign of an amazing diner. I love the downtown St. Pete diner hotspot for its design and decor - but this food -- and service -- is amazing in comparison. read more

Where to start?! The restaurant was clean and welcoming. The foyer was open and inviting. The food was stunning. I'll get to that shortly. And the service was top notch. We love Greek food, so we decided to try this place out, and we're pleasantly surprised. It will be a new go-to. We got the Saganaki! Stunning, lit table side. Perfect amount of lemon. He got the Gyro platter, so much food, the Gyro was perfect. I got the salmon platter, and when I say this salmon was perfect, it was medium rare perfection, seasoned wonderfully and next to that salad was heaven on a plate. The little one got the tenders and fries, he loved them. They aren't open until 9pm on Sundays anymore, but said nothing to us for walking in at 10 to 8. The service was top notch when walking in that late, which says a lot about the service. We had no room for dessert but took it with us to try later. I'll let you know! read more

Still one of my favorites when I can't decide exactly what I want. The menu is extensive and I've never had something I didn't like. Tonite, Greek salad with gyro meat. It's an enormous salad, overflowing the bowl with chopped lettuce, tomato wedges, cuke slices, sliced red onion, a few peppercinis and topped with feta cheese and some Greek olives. You know you're in West FL because there's a scoop of potato salad on the center. Creamy, tart Greek dressing in the side. Plus, I ordered a side of gyro meat. A full plate of freshly carved, moist and perfectly spiced lamb with a side of tzatziki make this a meal. Actually enough of a meal that I could take half home for lunch tomorrow. read more

WOW! There were 15 of us for breakfast this morning and they never skipped a beat. Our drinks stayed full and our order's arrived hot, fresh and tasty. The two servers Deno and Terri worked as a team and made our friend's 60th birthday breakfast a celebration to remember. Pete, the owner was so great at getting a table together with only an hour's notice. This place is great for large gatherings as they can usually accommodate most any size group. Again, Acropol for the win!! BTW the chicken and waffle is extraordinary, hand breaded in house, not frozen chicken strips. Amazing food & selection. They give you hearty servings. I especially like the Greek dinner combo. It is about a 03 hour drive. So, we have only been there twice, but are looking forward to the next time. Their prices are reasonable for the special food selection & quality. I've been here a few times already over the past year and I've had great experiences already, but haven't written a review. My favorite thing so far is the chicken souvlaki, gyros, Greek salad, their apple pie à la mode. They are reasonably priced and the food is really good. Never had an issue yet and the service is really awesome too. They work together to make sure you have a good experience. it's my favorite go to whenever I don't know what to eat because they've got such a great big menu.
