Rockridge Happy Hour - this place has some good options for happy hour . It's tucked on a corner near the market . There is plenty of parking and a good amount of options for happy hour . They even have TV's so you can catch a game as well. I had a really good Martini and some bites . Service was great and ambiance was lovely as well. Will be back !

Cool lights. No editing. Just exposure control.

Whenever we find ourselves on College Ave. or in the area we typically will end up at Acre. Sometimes it's the downstairs bar but we prefer the upstairs. Ron (I think) always makes it a point to come over and say hi and make sure everything is perfect. We have had the Funghi pizza, oysters, hummus, olives, and guac and I have had their meatballs along with great cocktails. Full sit down dinner is coming soon. Service is always great and it's a great chill environment to take a load off for awhile and relax. It wood be nice to have a few more vegetarian options and some vegan ones for those that tilt that way. A black bean/mushroom burger would be delicious. Wish they opened earlier and stayed open between 2-4. Almost a 5 will prolly update after a dinner there..

I stopped by Acre during a work meeting and unfortunately I also had a terrible headache so I didn't get to have the full Acre experience. I ended up taking my food to go which was delicious once I heated it up later. My server was very sweet and accommodating. She made sure to take my order while I was working on my computer and helped make sure I had everything I needed before heading home. The restaurant itself was beautiful with a very relaxing and welcoming vibe. Definitely ended up being a great spot to have my meeting and seemed like a great place to spend some time to relax and have a full meal. I'll definitely have to come back to give Acre a proper try. Looking forward to going back.

Delicious food and great ambiance! The restaurant is beautiful especially the upstairs. We loved their margarita pizza, which had flavorful sauce and an amazing crust. We also ordered a bunch of apps like the octopus and peppers and loved them! I was pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes of the appetizers as well.

I don't understand the poor reviews! We've eaten here 3x in the past 2 weeks and it's quickly becoming our favorite spot to meet up with friends! So far we've had HH, dinner, and Sunday brunch and service each visit has been good to absolutely superb. We especially enjoyed the service we received from our waitress who served the six of us flawlessly on a busy Friday night. I can't recall her name, but she had a very strong southern accent and I think she's from Louisiana. We've ordered at least one pizza each visit and think their pizzas are as good/better than the ones we had in Naples (Italy) this spring, lol. Highly recommend!! Also recommend their french fries with aioli! That said, we've tried 3 different cocktails and found none to our taste. They lack balance and are generally weak, so don't recommend their cocktails. We look forward to trying their oyster HH in the near future!

Burger was really good!

A simple, yet vibey restaurant that's near a shopping area and right below the Rockridge Station. It gets pretty packed here late afternoon and unto early evening, but the food is fresh and pretty delicious. I got their burger that has a daily maximum (about 12 burgers in total) and I was glad I got that because it was so delicious and I also had enough for leftovers the next day. Prices are also reasonable. Staff are friendly. And easy to come here if you wanna take the train or do local parking.

Excellent spot in a lively and fun second floor ambiance on College avenue. Enjoyed some adventurous signature cocktails to start including the olive oil martini. Our large party ordered several fun dishes to share including the excellent focaccia bread, fries and meatballs. Especially liked the lobster risotto and pizza. The table did not like the Breaking Bread Cab Franc as it was nothing like any Cab Franc we were familiar with and served cold. Excellent and helpful service. Great time!

We had a wonderful visit on Saturday evening. The service was top notch from the bartender to the dinner service waiter. They handle the crowd very well and always made us feel we mattered. Plus was very knowledgeable about all of the meal ingredients, which adds to the experience. We did not have a reservation, but they handle the wait very well. We will be back, when in the area.

Came back to Acre because we have had such good experiences here. Whether you're eating dinner or want a post-dinner drinks and dessert session, they have it all. We got a margarita, Bloody Mary, and a piece of cheesecake. All were refreshing and delicious.

Acre Kitchen & Bar was a fun spot for a Fat Tuesday night out. They had live music and a special menu focused on New Orleans cuisine. Food was a bit mixed for us. We started with the gumbo, and while it wasn't bad, it just didn't have much depth. I kept waiting for the flavor to build, but it stayed pretty mild all the way through. On the other hand, the lamb merguez pizza was the clear standout. It was super flavorful, and the seasoning honestly made it taste more like chorizo than lamb. I don't usually like lamb, so I was surprised by how much I liked it, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're deciding what to order. Overall, the atmosphere was great, especially for an event night, and that pizza alone would bring me back. Giving it 4 stars because the gumbo didn't quite hit, but we still had a really good time and would return!

Acre! I've been wanting to dine since opening but somehow just making it in, between some errands. I made a lunch reservation for three 20 minutes before I arrived and they opened on a Saturday. Live music as we walked in to a beautiful table upstairs. Very homey, festive and romantic. The menu is worth taking time reading-food and beverage. Familiar dishes with unique twists. We were greeted and served quickly by lovely Acre staff. Well attended to throughout our lunch. We ordered martinis, a pizza to share (with our three year old) bitter caesar salad for me and a Cuban sandwich for my husband. Everything was delicious. The Caesar was so good. Not overly dressed, really letting the crispy and peppery chicories and greens be the star, topped with cold pulled chicken-really perfect. The "kids" pizza was enough to feed all three of us! Delicious, from their wood fire oven downstairs. What a gem in the East Bay. We will be back! I'd love to sit at the bar for happy hour or dinner. Thank you Acre for a lovely lunch!

Our first visit to Acre - full disclosure, the old Oliveto was our preferred Rockridge destination, and we have many fond memories and occasions we celebrated there. So it was with high hopes (and a little trepidation) that we booked, finally, our first visit to the new offering at this same storied location. We reserved upstairs, as downstairs was always louder and more immediate. It is a different place. While expected, this really isn't a 'white tablecloth' venue anymore. I think prices are a little more reasonable than the old Oliveto's, and it has been updated to a more modern casual vibe. Large selection of pizza offerings, and a finite number of non-pizza entrees - about equal number of pasta and more substantial fare. Ambiance seemed a little more lively, the ambiance louder (and the tables closer together). Place was packed (to be expected on a Sunday evening). We started with drinks, and I found my negroni better-than-average. Starter was their Chantelle mushroom with puff pastry, which was presented nicely, nice texture, and tasted delicious. A promising start. Entrees were the seafood risotto and the pork chop. Risotto was good, lots of good tastes...but pork chop was quite well done. It wasn't as dry and hard as your first accounting lecture, but it was firm and stubborn enough to stand up and argue with your political views. Which was quite a shame, as the tastes on the plate were wonderful, the complements well-presented. Promising, but... We realize this is a new vision and new expression at a storied location. But we miss Oliveto. We may return to Acre to see how the pizza offerings compare to, say, Tony Gemignani's take on the storied pie. But while service was excellent, the more-modern and casual vibe and our first take at their entrees were good...and not entirely great.

Acre is a very nice spot in the Rockridge neighborhood, and we have been in several times now. There is a downstairs dining area, which is more casual, and an upstairs one which is a bit more swanky. We prefer the upstairs, where there is a nice bar and a cozy dining room. We have not yet had dinner here, but this is a good spot for an intimate date night. When we come in, we park ourselves at the bar for some bites, drinks, and people-watching. Service is always solid, and an extra big shout-out to Ron, who is always welcoming and delightful. Pretty extensive menu with something for everyone. They have oysters, which I love; not sure if they're on HH. We've also had the mushroom pizza, which is delicious, and lighter bites including the guacamole, hummus, and fried olives. All tasty. All-in-all, a cozy, comfortable restaurant with a nice vibe and solid food and drinks. Parking is limited, so give yourself extra time if driving. Enjoy!

Ask the Community - Acre

Does the soup have garlic?

Hello Judy, Yes, our soup does contain garlic and unfortunately we are not able to omit it. I hope…

Is there natural wine here?

Pretty sure the list was conventional production wines, the last time I was there.

Is there an elevator to get up to dining level upstairs?

Yes! Upon arriving at ACRE, check in with the host and they will be able to show you where the elevator is located.

Are there vegan options?

Didn't ask but they would probably accommodate a dish of you asked.

The RIC (Rockridge Improvement Club) was suggested but warned us it's a little weird sometimes. The bartender felt we could handle it though. Not sure if that was a compliment or not. As the fun silly drink lover I am, I had to try the green curry martini the moment I saw it on the menu. And I made the right choice! Somehow, it really reminded me a lot of green curry, but not in an off putting way. Bartenders were very nice and got the drinks out quickly (came in at 6:30 on a Thursday), but it didn't look rushed. SUPER cozy vibes, perfect for either a catchup with friends, or even a date.
