I've used Acme Glass for 20+ years. Not a huge customer. Windshields, home window repairs, several custom shelves. No more. I ordered 3 tempered glass shelves. Not cheap, but exactly what I needed. Didn't even ask about the price since I trusted Acme. I was replacing existing wood shelves. Ordered over the phone. They were not made the correct size. I needed 22", and they were 25". Kristen who assisted me immediately went into "I checked my notes and I ordered what you said, so we can't help you with a discount." I wasn't looking for something free. Maybe just a little consideration...REGARDLESS of whose error it was. All she was concerned about was placing blame. Here's her voicemail message transcript: "Hi Hank, this is Kristen with acme glass. We re-ordered those pieces of glass for you and the total was one 5247 unfortunately there was nothing I can do to kind of like. Do any kind of discount because we didn't necessarily do anything wrong from ordering it but the glass is here. It's ready for pick up again." It's all about blame. Forget about 20+ years of loyalty. Even if she'd told me that because their mark up was really tight she couldn't help, that would have been something. But the basic tone was "We were right, you were an idiot, so screw you." I just spoke with her on the phone and she told me that my loyalty had nothing to do with any assistance. Now keep in mind that I meticulously measured since I had existing shelves. She couldn't even begin to think that maybe she wrote down the "2" I told her in a way that looked like a "5." Nope. Anyway, sadly I'm done. Thanks, Kristen. read more

We recently hired ACME Glass to replace two windows in my son's home. Unfortunately, we had a very negative experience with this company. After the technicians left, we discovered pieces of glass all around the guest bedroom on the furniture and comforter, pillows, decorative blankets, etc. We also found large and small pieces of glass outside in the yard, patio, and driveway in multiple locations. Despite voicing my concerns to the owner of the company, Mitch, I never received a call back or resolution to this issue. To make matters worse, ACME Glass charged me for the rest of the job without addressing my concerns. As a result of their negligence, I had to replace all of the bedding in my guest room and spend hours cleaning up glass pieces from my property. The pieces of glass ranged in size from pebble-sized to as big as the palm of my hand. To say the aftermath of their blatant carelessness was stressful is an understatement. While Mitch was professional when I spoke with him, he failed to follow through on his promise to call me back and address the issue. In my opinion, this lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for glass replacement services. The technicians who came to my home were careless and left behind a dangerous mess that could have caused serious injury to myself or anyone else who came into contact with it. I can't imagine if this had been a child's room. Photos do not do justice - the glass in the guest room was literally everywhere as they brought a saw in to cut the old glass out but did zero prep or protect to the room before. Overall, I would strongly advise against using ACME Glass for any glass replacement needs. Their poor service and lack of accountability are unacceptable. read more

i had an employee call to request a quote on a 62" 1/2" thick round glass top for a client of ours that we are designing a home for and was told that we would receive an email quote later that same day and 3 days later and still no quote . my client is furious- makes us look bad and unprofessional and the client has asked my employee to find other resource for their glass needs. I am posting this review because this IS NOT the first time we have had this issue in the past few years. I have had my employee search/ check spam and junk folders a few times just to make sure and no estimate anywhere- NOT COOL !! I have used this company dozens of times over the past 20 yrs for clients and for personal use but no longer will choose to do. read more

It's been six weeks since I initially contacted them regarding a home window replacement, and four weeks since they placed the order. This may be normal, I'm not sure, but they operated on the assumption that no one needed to be at the house to inspect the window, because after giving a 2-day estimate of when they arrived, and after notifying them of my contact number when they plan to arrive at the house, they never contacted me. A couple days later, they told me they inspected the window and put in a custom order. Does communication exist? Contacted them yesterday, the 1st person I worked with was gone, but another woman was there; however, apparently my name was not on their system and she was surprised. The 1st person just had my notes on her desk. It's fine if all the records are physical, but the 2nd person was surprised, so I'm not sure what they're system is supposed to be. The window is apparently 'on transit' now, which will take two more weeks. I don't know what the heck they've been doing. If it's because it was a custom order (I'm not knowledgeable enough to dispute the necessity of a custom), they certainly dragged out estimated time of completion on me. So what I've gathered is they're not organized, not open with communication, and they're not timely. It's been six weeks, and for all I know, they haven't done anything yet. read more

Left a glass shelf so Acme (the Washington Street location) could duplicate it using a different glass. I was told I'd be called with a quote. Three weeks go by... no call. I stopped in and discovered my shelf still sitting on the counter. It hadn't been touched. My name and phone number were taped to the glass, and no one had bothered to check on what was supposed to be done, no one called to ask... nothing. Their reaction? "I wondered about that." Breathtakingly bad customer service. I can't speak to the quality of their product because they couldn't be bothered to provide me one. read more

Their customer service is terrible and I'm incredibly disappointed with them. Bill (The CS office manager) is extremely rude on the phone and in person. Mark (The district manager) is a fast talker and will only get things fixed as cheaply as possible. Their installer left glass behind after my window was shattered on my drivers side door. It scratched my tint and ruined it. It took me over a week and dealing with Bill and Mark to finally get it fixed and thats after I had to take matters into my hands and go to Ag Solar Guard to have them fix the tint then bill Acme for the work. When this all happened, Mark didn't even look at the damage and ordered new glass. When I showed up at a time that Mark and I had discussed meeting to fix it, he wasn't there. I had to deal with Bill again who was difficult at best to deal with. Bill looked at it and said I had to have the tint removed before they would determine if the window is scratched. He then had some kid vacuum out the glass and blow the rest out down into the door. I then was given a card by bill and sent to Ag Solar Guard. I had to make an appointment for them to work on it(I wish I had known before this all started about the appointment). Then Mark called and wanted to know why I wasn't at Acme when we agreed to meet. I drove back over there and met Mark. He took Bill out to my truck where Bill used a razor blade and rudely and roughly ripped the tint off the window to show that it wasn't scratched. He was so rude I was taken back by him. He walked away muttering to himself and being ugly. Mark then took me to "Tint Dreamz" instead of allowing me to have it tinted at Ag Solar Guard and the guy there did a terrible job. I had to call Mark back again a couple days later to tell him that it wasn't done right and took it to Ag Solar Guard to fix it again. I've also tried to contact the "Owner" Mitchell Morehead and discuss these issues with him. He will not return my calls. I am disgusted with their lack of customer service and how I was treated by Bill in the 5 or 6 interactions I had with him both over the phone and in person. Overall, I will never use them again and wouldn't recommend them if they were the last glass company in town. They say they pride themselves on service on their website but they certainly didn't seem to care about my needs. Best of luck if you use them. read more

I called them to get a quote on a windshield replacement and the price they quoted me was around $500 higher than the one I got from Safelite. No explanation or anything. I asked if they would match their quote and they said they wouldn't. Looks like they don't need my business. Ended up hanging up on them and going with Safelite. Get multiple quotes before you buy from these people or you will pay a LOT more than you should. read more

Real Bad Experience... I had to call 3 different times to get someone to call me back and then asked for a quote on what charges would be. They never gave me a price. I was told they would call me back with a price... they never called back even after 2 attempts to get one but I figured a piece of glass smaller than 24 inches square and 3/16" thick could not cost more than $20 or so I told them to just get it done for me..... WRONG MOVE!!!! Almost 2 weeks go by and I call to check status and was told it would be ready the following day.... WRONG AGAIN!!! I showed up to get the glass and it was never processed. Took 30 minutes waiting there for them to figure out where my order was and then finally a man from the shop comes in and says that it can be ready in 20 minutes just to "hand tight" I almost fell over when the lady at the desk handed me a bill for $83 and some change. I refused to pay the price and miraculously the price fell to less than $23. She tried to explain that there was a "RUSH" charge accessed because I wanted to have the glass cut while I waited.... I almost blew a gasket NEVER AGAIN! If I hadn't been in such a urgent need to have this glass before the Thanksgiving company arrived, I would have left there without the glass and gone elsewhere. read more

Follow-up service negligent to nil. We utilized this local glass powerhouse to renovate a historic location at the cost of more than $30,000. Upon calling to have a single door's recoil adjusted, first query from Mary was, "And who exactly is going to be paying for this?" Should we opt to expand our business again, we'll go with another service regardless the cost. read more
