Second tattoo at Aces over 8s. Love my new little tulip tattoo. It turned out better than I imagined. Artist, Jay, did an amazing job. He took the idea I brought him and made it so much better! Bonus is he's a super nice guy and we had fun hanging out. Very professional, friendly, and just damn good at what they do. Highly recommend.
What a great tattoo experience! I'm a fan of Danielle Holyoak tattoo art which is happy, fun, sometimes irreverent and colorful. Her personality matches her art, fun, interesting and colorful! She was very focused on my comfort and that I'd love my tattoo- which I do!! Her after care package - adorable - even my pink bandage was on point! Can't wait to get next tattoo.
Sooo I've been getting tattooed since I was 17, in 2007. I'm one of those people who has lost count of their tattoos I've had so many, from so many places, states, different types of people, etc. That is to say, I may not know a whole lot about some things, but I DO know my tattoo shops and artists. I'd say this place was so amazing due to the improvement in tattoo culture as a whole, but it had something *EXTRA.* The shop itself is cozy, without being cramped. The atmosphere is funky/cool and the entire vibe is *so chill.* Wooden panels, taxidermy animals... oh, I won't ruin the surprise ;) I walked in with my friend and we were immediately greeted by the woman at the front desk, with a genuine smile and a compliment on my weird shirt?! Good start! Checking in was super easy, too (QR code.) My artist was Danielle and she was right on time to greet me for my appt and put me at ease immediately. She was kind, genuine, collaborative, receptive, and creative. I like to discuss my art with the actual artist before I get it, I take suggestions, etc. And she never made me feel stupid at any point for any questions or anything. Just a real, real doll. If I lived in my hometown still I'd go to her more, but as it is I'm going to be recommending all my friends in the Bay Area to her. I kind of watched the other artists and their clients and how everyone vibed in the place (trying to distract from the glorious pain, lol) and everyone was just so... can I say "chill" again? The atmosphere was calming and I almost fell asleep on the table. They send you home with a tiny goodie bag of stickers and some lotion, and a very detailed and perfectly informative follow-up email on after care. This has been one of my FAVORITE five star reviews to give. If you patronize this place I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Danielle is an Angel on earth! I first met her Oct. '21. I was visiting Petaluma and as I was scrolling Instagram, her page popped up. I felt drawn to how she draws womens faces. And I called to see if there was any availability that day to get one of her small flash tats so I could get a feel for the shop and the vibe. (I've had some not so welcoming experiences at tattoo shops in the past). Long story short I immediately clicked with her and the receptionist that works there! The energy when you walk into Aces Over Eights is so inviting and welcoming. Everyone makes you feel so comfortable! So I chalked it all up to fate (and Instagram) for bringing me into Danielle and Aces Over Eights orbit. I drive a little under 7hrs to see Danielle and she is worth every single mile and then some! She puts so much care and attention to detail with what she is creating for you. I trust her 100 times over, and I will continue to in the future. Even if you can't get out to Petaluma to get a tattoo from her-- I highly recommend at least checking out her Instagram-- and I promise you'll be just as captivated as I was. Cannot wait to go back and get another Masterpiece from Danielle! 100/10 extremely happy and satisfied customer. And I would've left a 10 star review if I could've! , Bre
Super friendly and very accommodating staff. Super clean place. I was very happy with my new tattoo. Thanks to the folks at aces over eights.
I just went in on Saturday to get a tattoo on my ring finger, my wedding band (that I'm not wearing again yet) has leaves incorporated into the design. I sent Jimmy a few leaf designs I had seen online and when I got to the shop, what he had designed was better than I could have envisioned on my own. He made the whole process comfortable & easy. I am in love with this tattoo & really have a feeling this is the begin of at least a few more I highly recommend this shop!
Danielle made my whole freaking year with this Lisa Frank inspired turtle and mushroom leg tattoo. Her touch is so light and the colors she decided to use are incredible. I would highly recommend picking up the phone and booking an appointment with her. Her entire vibe is calm and chill, not to mention her art work is out of this world. I will for sure be returning to add much more to the leg. Thank you Danielle for such a rad experience and an incredible piece that I'm so proud to have on my body.
Back again. If I could do 6 stars I would. They are so awesome here. Be nice to them. Always listen to your artist, trust them, they just want what's best for you. Twan (forgive me if the spelling is off, you've never written down your name for me, which isn't weird until now) is great. Thanks P.S. Natasha if you could photograph the cowboy cactus up front and DM me on instagram I'd be forever grateful.
I absolutely and positively adore this tattoo shop. So much so that I happily make the drive all the way from Suisun to Petaluma whenever I'm ready for new ink. I attended a flash event in October that was so much fun and full of great vibes, and was even tattooed by Pablo who was possibly the sweetest artist I have ever met! The rest of my experience here has been with Danielle and she is-in a word-phenomenal. I've done one of her flash tattoos and two custom tattoos where she took my rambling thoughts and badly cropped Pinterest inspo pics and turned them into something *magnificent*. Not only is her art wonderful, but she is a truly empathetic and excellent tattooer. I've had several tattoo experiences, some good and some eh, but there's something very unique and intuitive about the way Danielle works. Particularly, my most recent tattoo was in a very sensitive and painful spot, but she was so reassuring the whole time that it was still an overall pleasant experience. Basically, even though it hurt because of the location, I knew it didn't hurt because of *her*. And she's very intuitive about switching areas when one spot gets overworked. Every time she was working a spot and just before I got to the point mentally where I was like, "okay I gotta tap out", she'd switch spots and let that skin breathe. All in all, this shop is a great place to visit and get inked. It's clean, full of good vibes, great decor, and a welcoming staff. Perfect for your first tattoo our your fiftieth!
My first time there and it was a good experience. The Artist who did my ears was so kind. I got pretty simple tattoo on my ears and it did not hurt and my tattoos on both my ears turn out perfect. Thank you.
I got a double forward helix piercing with Joe and had a great experience here. My piercing went quickly and smoothly. Joe was very professional and knowledgeable. Such a clean environment and I felt really safe. My piercing turned out beautiful and it's healing nicely. Highly recommend! Thanks Joe! Also going back for a tattoo in a couple months with Cody. Awesome piercing and tattoo spot!
Best Tattoo shop in the north bay. My guy there is Twan. Amazing work, great pricing and clean professional environment. Check it out!!!.
Got a last minute appointment a few weeks ago. Danielle was awesome helping me schedule over the phone. My rib tattoo by Twan healed beautifully! Would definitely come back, hopefully with more notice ahead of time :)

Got my first tattoo last week by Danielle! She is so sweet and amazing. Very professional and totally on the right track with what I wanted. She had a picture drawn up already when I got there and we only had to do a few tweaks. It's perfect and really detailed. Thanks for doing an awesome job. read more

(Jewerly in picture bought on Etsy, NOT bought in this shop) I got a simple hoop daith piercing in this shop by Joe and let me say I am so impressed and SO happy. The piercing itself did not hurt in the slightest and I never had pain later while it was healing. I am so happy with my experience here simply because I have had my ears pierced in several different shops and this has been the best shop where my piercing never got infected and never hurt. Wonderful experience, Joe is an amazing piercer. I get my daith jewelry on Etsy! Thanks Joe! read more

This is my second time coming to Joe, and my first review. The first time was for myself, I had gotten my nose pierced and it fell out and closed up -over night! Joe re-pierced it with no judgement and was super cool about. The second time was for my kid who wanted to get their nose pierced and I knew exactly where to go. Joe's professional, sweet, and knowledgeable. I have 3 more kids that may want piercings and we now have a family piercer. Thanks Joe! read more

I HIGHLY recommend Aces over Eights!! I've gotten a couple tattoos here from Jimmy, and both of them have turned out amazing!! After moving here I'd been looking for a good tattoo place, and I actually heard about them because I saw a random girl with a cool tattoo, and asked her where she got it. After that, I looked up reviews, and different places online to see if it was a good place to go. I saw they'd gotten Reader's Choice, Best in Sonoma County in The Press Democrat, and all their other reviews seemed good as well. Also, all the pictures of their work looked great!! So I stopped by the shop to talk to them and find out more. First off, the shop is awesome. Clean, well-lit, cool style and vibe, comfortable, etc. It's right in down-town Petaluma, so parking can be tricky, but it's in a cool area of town. I'm not artistic at all, so I went in with just an idea and some printed off pictures. Jimmy came to the front and took time right then to brainstorm with me and to hear all of my thoughts on what I wanted. I'm pretty picky, and I took in a ton of pictures and rambled on about all these different things and styles I wanted, so I didn't expect anyone to be able to draw up something that I wanted on the first try. But I went back a week or so later, and WOW, what he had drawn up was exactly my style and what I wanted!! I could not think of one thing I wanted to change about it. I was beyond impressed. So I made an appointment and went back in a week or two later to get it done! And then I went back to get another older tattoo touched up. And I will keep going back! Jimmy is GREAT at matching my style, even though it's not really your "typical" tattoo style. I have gotten so many comments and compliments on my tattoos he's done. (I'll post pictures). I've already had a few people ask me for info, because they want him to tattoo them as well. He's really fast, artistic, and easy to talk to. Aces over Eights is the best!! It would be cool if they did piercing there too, but oh well! read more

Nick Lee is the one who did my boyfriend's tattoo. He got barbed wire around his upper arm. He shaved his arm with a dirty razor so he had bumps, the lining is jacked, he rushed the last part because he had another appointment. My boyfriend wanted certain things done like the spacing or even just lines that lined up that made sense and thats not what happened. Hes upset because now he has this on his body the rest of his life because Nick had someone else he had to get to and couldnt focus on the rest. read more

Danielle was SO AMAZING!! She did the cutest tattoo of a kewpie doll! She took her time to make me feel comfortable while laying down to get my leg tattooed in an awkward spot. I have been a huge fan of her art for a long time and was so excited to get a tattoo by her! She exceeded my expectations, I'm so happy and will definitely be back! read more

Came here a few years ago, walk in. Jay? Was great, love my birthmark incorporated sunflower!!! Came back for an appointment today with Greg Rojas. He is amazing! Hit it off at the consultation, I was at ease right away. He immediately understood what I was trying to describe. It was like he pulled the image from my mind. I'm so happy with just the lines. Can't wait for my color! read more

I can't say enough positive things about Aces over Eight and the tattoo artist, Jake. Not only have I been tatted by Jake but my husband, brother-in-law and a whole laundry list of people I know are loyal Jake clients. Just yesterday, I added my mom to that list. It was her first tattoo and she was pretty afraid but Jake made her feel very comfortable, helped design and master her ideas into a beautiful tattoo. For those of you first timers or veterans to the tattoo game, Jake is amazing. He has beautiful script and is a very talented free-hand artist. Call before you go in - he is ALWAYS booked out! read more

Went to see Greg Rojas with my daughter, an idea and a Stock picture, and he understood what concept we were going for and how to make it better. Love how our tattoos turned out! Plus less pain and shedding then any other tattoo I've had. Greg is a fun guy with all the experience behind him that we hoped for. Definitely found our new go to artist! Pictures posted. read more

I forgot to update, but I came back up, from Los Angeles, to complete the inside of my sleeve! The work was still great, Icharus falling into the ocean. This was back in like February, but I should still have pics of the work on my phone. I can't speak enough praises about this place, and Jimmy himself. read more
