I discovered Crystine's shop after searching through APP for listed piercing places within the North bay radius. To some who might not be familiar with APP, this is an organization that is not mandatory for piercing professionals to be members of, however in order for a studio to be eligible, certain qualifications must be met: sanitation standards within the studio as well as meeting jewelry standards to name a few. this organization also offers ongoing education in the newest techniques for piercing and medical professionals to make sure this practice is being done in the best and safest way possible. I called Blue Lotus and made an appointment for later on in the week for nipple piercings. From the first moment I set foot in Crystine's studio I was met with a very calm and welcoming environment- One of Crystine's associates at the front checked me in and had me fill out a few forms while Crystine came out to introduce herself. I also browsed through the assortment of "jewels" that were beautifully displayed in cabinets- I cannot wait to come back for some beautiful jewelry pieces that were so carefully curated. Once it was time to go into the room, Crystine took her time explaining each step of the process I appreciated every detail she took, and given the area I was having pierced, I felt very comfortable and assured that I had picked someone extremely skilled. At the conclusion of the service, I left happy and as I told Crystine while sitting in her chair- I felt surprisingly more comfortable than I ever expected myself to be given the nature of our appointment. I recently visited to have my two daughter's ears pierced. I knew that a professional piercing studio would be the safest choice from a quality perspective but I was not expecting that our visit to Blue Lotus would become a major milestone in their lives. I cannot recommend this studio more highly. Even though my daughters (7 and 11) wanted their ears pierced for over four months, they were still a little nervous when we arrived. Christine was at the desk with Akira and was warm, calm, kind and patient. She instantly read my daughter's fear and told them that there was no pressure what-so-ever to have it done and they could take as long as they wanted to choose. She then spent a half an hour answering all of their questions. She took out the jewelry options and helped them decide, making it clear that there was no pressure even after they chose a set. Once they chose earrings there was time for more questions and she put the jewelry in the autoclave. She continued to answer questions that came up and was cheerful, not rushed, inviting and nurturing. Once they were in the chair she took time to place the earrings where they would look natural as their ears continued to grow. She also explained the whole process step by step "now I am going to clean your ear with iodine", "now I am going to put the needle through", "now i will clean you off, it will feel cold". My most fearful child went first and was instantly so very proud of herself. My next child was a little pale when she finished and Christine gave her a boxed water and gummy snacks and asked us to wait in order to make sure she was ok. Our appointments were at 6 and we left after 8pm. She in no way rushed us and even stayed late. I wish that doctors and dentists treated my children with the same warmth and care. Also, you cannot find a cleaner establishment. There are no corners cut at all with the respect they treat their equipment, clients and services offered. It was a beautiful experience for my daughters. Not one of simply getting earrings but of overcoming fear and having ownership of their bodies. It is so important to treat children that everyone should have respect for their bodies and get their consent. I cannot thank Blue Lotus enough! read more

Did I ever thought I'd be reviewing a body art parlor? As the DAD of a teenager, No. No. Never. But, having visited Christine with my daughter last week, I've got to tell you this is the most amazing, professional, caring, kind, smart piercing person I've ever come across. our daughter had her tragus pierced a few months ago. Don't know what the tragus is? I didn't know the name either - it's that piece of cartilage that sticks out in front of the ear canal. Anyway, our teenager decided to try to change the stud in her tragus long before she should have - apparently they have to remain for some period of time - and as a result it became swollen, red, and ANGRY as Christine said. Thus our visit back for a repair. Christine couldn't have been kinder - no judgement here! She reminded our daughter not to try to change the stud out for another ring for a while, replaced the piercing with the one our daughter actually wanted, comforted her concerned parents, and sent us happily on our way. So, here's my rating: FIVE stars for not only doing a great job, doing it with care, but also keeping parents and children comforted during the whole process. I got 2 piercings there, one on my helix and a 3rd hole on my ear. Within only a month my helix piercing was infected and my 3rd hole piercing fell out and is completely closed up now! I spent a lot of money on expensive jewelry so neither would happen. I've taken amazing care of both piercings & I spent over $600 here and now I don't have either piercing and I'm walking away with only one piece of jewelry. I'm really sad that this happened. I've never had this happen to me before. And I feel like my money was wasted. The ladies at the front are very sweet & nice but overall piercing quality & jewelry is not up to par with their pricing.
