I told him what I was looking to get and where I wanted my tattoo located. He asked questions and after that found the artist best for what I was looking for. Being I wanted black and gray he suggested Som. Set up an appointment for like a week out and asked if I'd drop of a deposit. Finally came the day to get my tattoo, I met with Som and we went over my tattoo I let him know it was for my sister, and he came up with a bad ass design and her nick name. Som is a super cool dude and even with a guy with anxiety put me at ease and we chopped it up during the tattoo. The rest of the staff were super friendly as well. Once Som was done I was blown away by his work, even a day later I keep looking at his work and and super happy. I have plenty of tattoos on me, and Soms work stands out. I showed my sister and she definitely wants to come in when she's in town. I will definitely be back, the rest of the staff was friendly as well, everyone at least said hi as I walked by.

But it's been over 10 years since I've had a piercing and I was really anxious about it. I'm part of a local moms group on Facebook, and when the question is always posed for a good piercer in town, everyone always raves about Karissa at Avenue tattoo and how awesome and good she is at piercing!!! So I knew that's who I wanted to go to!! I've been toying with the idea for months but keep chickening out. But yesterday, I decided on a whim to go there so I just walked in. She was busy at the moment doing another piercing but the front desk girl was able get me in an hour later so I just went to target and shopped around while I was waiting. I was super nervous and anxious about it but she was so kind, calm and welcoming. She's also just a super cool person and easy to talk to, so it was a good distraction while she was getting everything ready. She was very gentle , clean and thorough. Explaining the process and everything she was doing as she was doing it. Her calm, welcoming personality really helped my anxiousness and ease my mind. She did the piercing and it was SO quick, barely hurt!! She put the jewelry in and I was done. She explained the healing and care process very thoroughly. The whole process from walking in, to paying and leaving, was 15mins tops!!! Prices are very reasonable! Basic jewelry was included with price but I paid a little extra for a gem. I'll go back in 2 months to see how it looks/if it's healing good and change the length of the bar if needed. I highly recommend Karissa to anyone who wants a piercing!!! she also does younger kiddos ears too!! I'd totally take my young daughter to her in a heartbeat if she wanted her ears pierced!!! She is the BEST in town!!!! Thank you Karissa!!!!!

Karissa did the piercing. It was almost painless! She was friendly, assuring me each step of the way. I'll never go anywhere else. And by the way, I'm 75 years old.

Unfortunately my friends didn't realize tattoos are by appointment only right now, and nobody in Ukiah could fit us in. I called the first shop on Google in Santa Rosa, they had time to fit all three of us in if we could get there quickly. We jumped in the car and we headed down. I was nervous and shaky but super excited. My tattoo was a simple line design. I didn't catch the guy's name but I think he was blonde. He was super nice, and as soon as I laid down I was instantly comfortable and calm. It took maybe three to five minutes to complete, he bandaged it up and told me how to care for it, and that was that. Not the scary bleeding mess I was expecting after hearing tattoo horror stories from my mother for over half my life. I love my tattoo, and will probably make the drive to Santa Rosa again when I'm ready for my next one!

Safe to say they are not a women friendly shop. My story is long and I am not going to share it. But in the 10 minutes I was there for a touch up I was called a liar, drunk and rowdy. I don't drink, so it would be hard to come in the shop drunk and rowdy, and there was nothing to lie about, I just wanted my tattoo fixed. I think the workers were just trying to cover their ass with the owner for a shitty tattoo. All I was there to do was to get it fixed. Glad I saved all the communication between the shop, Nes and Daat. Who's the liar now?
