Finally came the day to get my tattoo, I met with Som and we went over my tattoo I let him know it was for my sister, and he came up with a bad ass design and her nick name. Som is a super cool dude and even with a guy with anxiety put me at ease and we chopped it up during the tattoo. The rest of the staff were super friendly as well. Once Som was done I was blown away by his work, even a day later I keep looking at his work and and super happy. I have plenty of tattoos on me, and Soms work stands out. But it's been over 10 years since I've had a piercing and I was really anxious about it. I'm part of a local moms group on Facebook, and when the question is always posed for a good piercer in town, everyone always raves about Karissa at Avenue tattoo and how awesome and good she is at piercing!!! So I knew that's who I wanted to go to!! I've been toying with the idea for months but keep chickening out. But yesterday, I decided on a whim to go there so I just walked in. She was busy at the moment doing another piercing but the front desk girl was able get me in an hour later so I just went to target and shopped around while I was waiting. I was super nervous and anxious about it but she was so kind, calm and welcoming. She's also just a super cool person and easy to talk to, so it was a good distraction while she was getting everything ready. She was very gentle , clean and thorough. Explaining the process and everything she was doing as she was doing it. Her calm, welcoming personality really helped my anxiousness and ease my mind. She did the piercing and it was SO quick, barely hurt!! She put the jewelry in and I was done. She explained the healing and care process very thoroughly. The whole process from walking in, to paying and leaving, was 15mins tops!!! Prices are very reasonable! Basic jewelry was included with price but I paid a little extra for a gem. I'll go back in 2 months to see how it looks/if it's healing good and change the length of the bar if needed. I highly recommend Karissa to anyone who wants a piercing!!! she also does younger kiddos ears too!! I'd totally take my young daughter to her in a heartbeat if she wanted her ears pierced!!! Great piercer, great price! I got a VCH piercing today at The Hole Thing and was so impressed with the entire experience I created a Yelp account just to write this review. First and foremost, Kelley, who owns the shop and did my piercing, was awesome. She was super friendly and I felt totally comfortable with her, which was great, but more importantly it was obvious she knew what she was doing. I called at 2:50pm and when I arrived a little bit later, she had everything set up for me. When I got out of my car, it was 3:39. I happened to glance at the lobby clock AFTER the piercing was done and it was 3:48. Secondly, I don't know about the tattoo prices but my piercing was anything but overpriced. I forgot to ask the price till the end, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was almost 1/2 what I was expecting based on quotes from other shops. And lastly, the setting was great. The decor had that artsy tattoo shop feel, but the piercing room was private and the equipment/set-up was professional, medical quality. I was very satisfied with the results and the experience and would highly recommend Kelley to anyone seeking any sort of piercing. To Thomas, who said they are overpriced cuz he paid $200 for black ink: You weren't paying for the ink, you were paying for the tattoo artist's time. I too have a tattoo that is small and simple and solid black. So when I was seeking a tattoo artist, I didn't seek out the one with the most amazing tattoo portfolio. I sought someone who did simple designs in the blackest black. Because whether I went to the best of the best or a competent novice, my simple design was going to look about the same. The only difference would be that the master artist would charge more and rightly so. Why should he give a discount because it was an easy, single color tattoo when he could spend the same amount of time doing something challenging that in the end he would be proud of and add to his portfolio. If anything, I'd expect them to charge more, partly because black takes a long time to fill in and is tedious, but mostly because if one has been doing tattoos for awhile, I imagine it they find it boring as shit to be doing yet another kanji tattoo. read more

I recently had my first experience with the hole thing a couple months ago. My boyfriend and I went in for piercings. He had his tongue pierced and I got my lip pierced. The owner stayed late just to squeeze us in at the end of the night. We were so grateful and she did a wonderful job! Perfectly centered and nearly painless. We were offered free shorter jewelry after a couple weeks healing time, which we unfortunately didn't have the time to go back. After a very poor decision to buy a shorter lip ring from Walmart, which ended up giving me a slight lip infection, I finely found the time to go back in. The staff all greeted us warmly with Hello's and sincere "How was your holiday?" questions, the owner then sat me down, prepped with gloves and fresh tools, she removed the cheap jewelry with skilled ease and replaced it with, my choice, a hoop and gave instructions for helping it heal. At the end we were treated like family and welcomed to come back anytime. I was so appreciative of the entire experience and have definitely found a place that I will go back to for all my piercings and tattoo's. read more

I have had two tattoos at the Hole Thing and quite frankly, I will not go anywhere else. I have referred all my friends who wants a tattoo or a piercing to the Hole Thing!! The owner, Kelley, did one of my tattoos! I love it...in fact, the red faded and she touched it up without hesitation when I told her about it. Tyler did the other tattoo ... what an artist and with a tattoo gun, he's a genius!! There isn't anything this dude can't do!! Kelley has also gauged my ears ... and she was so cooooool about it! I was really nervous, but she was quick and very professional!! EVERYBODY that works at THE HOLE THING is very professional and experienced!! However, the tattoos I have gotten from other places do not have these bumps. The next tattoo I got was also good, however the same white bumps appeared a few months later. The NEXT tattoo I got was a disaster. It was immediately infected with staph., which I initially thought was because my dog had touched it or something. However, after speaking with two doctors and a dermatologist, I found out that it was so bad that the only way it could have entered my body was while I was being tattooed. What was the reaction from the staff members? I talked to the tattoo artist and he said that he was sorry and hoped that I recovered quickly, but I NEVER heard ANYTHING from him again. I posted pictures on Facebook of what had happened but did not blame the shop or artist, and didn't actually provide any identifying information about where I had gotten the tattoo - I just wanted to share the horror with my friends since I was such a shitty situation. In return, I was asked by a staff member (not the owner, not a manager, not either of the people who had given me tattoos, nor the person who pierced me, but a different person who had never provided me with a service) to take the picture down since it "made them look bad". He was polite about it and apologized for what had happened to me and thanked me for taking it down. The next time I went in, about a week later, one staff member asked to leave the shop because it was seen as unsanitary. No one contacted me after this exchange. Because no one contacted me again, I was never able to tell them what the doctors had told me, which was that the infection entered my body while I was being tattooed. Although I had good experiences here, almost losing a limb was more than enough for me to NEVER return here.
