We used Ace to make our move from Texas to California. Ace is Atlas' representative and the agent (Eric) who surveyed our apartment for the quote was helpful and gave us a good quote. Eric and Vanessa were responsive over email and answered all our questions. The negative, however, was in the loading and transportation (I have another review for the unloading at the Ace, San Jose page). The movers were polite and promptly did all the work. Only one of them, however, spoke English, so all instructions had to come through him. I was originally informed that the big truck that would haul our stuff to California would come to our residence. Instead they sent a smaller truck that would then deliver our belongings to a bigger truck. The packers started writing CRAP on my boxes. Then I brought my concern to the business and they told me I couldn't read. Every piece of my furniture is either broken, scratched, or tore apart. The workers wouldn't let me do the bingo sheet and I trusted them since my first corporate relocation with a different company went so well. Wonderful experience!! Recently we used ACE for a move from Dripping Springs TX to Southern California. I was very pleased with their service. The teams in both cities were excellent and very hard working (despite the summer heat). I can't leave a review without mentioning two people that stand out and should be acknowledged. First was our sales person Eric. From the moment we met he eluded a confidence about ACE that was true. He made the negations of the quote painless. Eric was kind, knowledgeable and very easy to get along with and a great asset to ACE. But as a consumer you have to remember your sales person will not be there on your move day (although I forgot to mention how Eric was very quick to answer all my texts and phone calls throughout the entire process and time changes!) So next acknowledgment goes to our Driver Phil! Wow! What a smart efficient team leader that made the move so easy! Phil always knew where our stuff was located (where he and his rig were) and kept us very aware of the route along the 10. I recently moved with Ace Relocation from Austin to Oregon. During my move, some of my items were needless damaged due to negligent moving practices. My bed frame was smashed into pieces because they loaded it fully put together into a large box and then piled my other things (including my heavy workout equipment) on top of it. The box was visibly damaged by the time it arrived at my new apartment and some of the items and parts of my bed frame had fallen out -- I assume that this is how one of my 35 lb dumbbells was lost. At the same time, they did manage to take apart my bookshelf in order to reduce the chances of it getting damaged; however they lost all of the fasteners during the move and I haven't gotten around to tracking down the right fasteners to reconstruct it yet. I recognize that there is a risk of items getting damaged whenever one moves cross country; however, I believe that moving companies should make reasonable efforts to reduce this risk. In the case of my move, more could have been done to ensure that my items made it in one piece. Compensation for lost and damaged items was on a per lb basis, which I knew going into the move. I will be getting $60 for my bed frame and $21 for my dumbbell. I'm not happy about it, but it is what I signed up for. Other aspects of the move were fine: they arrived when they said they would, loaded and unloaded items quickly (in retrospect, perhaps too quickly), and they were friendly. They were also competitively priced; though, they did end up charging me about $500 more than the estimate. If all I had to move were boxes of stuff, I'm sure everything would have gone smoothly. I'm not going to move with them again, but if for some reason I did, I would make sure to take apart all of the furniture before they arrive and safely pack everything up in boxes. read more

I used Ace Relocation Systems to move from Austin to Midland (for a really good job haha). After submitting a request online I received a call and was assigned a moving coordinator. The moving coordinator, I worked with Eric, came to my house to provide an estimate based off of what I needed move. Eric was really great to work with! He gave me an estimate within 48hrs of our meeting. The estimate was done by line items - which made it easier to justify the total. You are able to save some if you move somewhere where other people are moving too - spoiler alert it's expensive to move to Midland since not as many people move here regularly haha. Eric was there every step of the way, he provided me with a timeline of pickup and delivery, and followed up after the move. The few days before the move I had to add an additional stop along the way in San Antonio and Eric was able to make it happen! I had the same moving crew from San Antonio - Austin - Midland. I appreciated the consistency. The crew was awesome - they were really friendly and made the situation comfortable. They were also really fast and accommodating. I would recommend them as movers, especially across cities! They took a stressful situation and made it smooth and easy! read more

Two weeks since my last review the saga continues, I still have not received my missing furniture, although it has now 8 weeks later apparently been traced, nor any compensation. I have had one mattress cleaned, and an attempt at cleaning another sofa which has made it worse than before. My Eames chair has been taken away, hopefully to be restored!! AND I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THAT AN EXPENSIVE RUG IS ALSO MISSING. Wow! Can it get any worse? read more

A few months later I got a message from Frank that he had received one of our missing boxes by mistake. It took me over a month to see the message but I was amazed that this man who is probably crazy busy went out of his way to find me and kept all our stuff until I responded. I just moved from Austin to Dallas, courtesy of my new employer. I was pretty nervous about the whole process, but Ace was a stand-out of the three companies I got estimates from. Eric was personable and prompt, and had me completely prepared for the first pack-and-move I've ever done. The crew that came out to pack and load my apartment was great too! They were efficient and did a good job wrapping and packing all of my stuff so that nothing arrived damaged. They went above and beyond to make sure that items that were my favorites were specially handled too. David, Ray, and Zach had me laughing all day. I'll certainly never move myself again! We just moved from Texas to Florida. The moving process with Ace Relocations was fantastic. Very friendly people, hard working. They worked fast and nothing of ours was damaged in the moving process. When our things arrived to Florida, we then realized that one of our boxes was missing. But, the wonderful driver Eddie did his best to find it and brought it to us. I would definitely recommend ACE for your future moves. If you can ask for Eddie the driver, and if moving to Florida, ask for Perry (he helped Eddie with the move) They are definitely the best team!!! read more

I can not warn you enough. Do not use this company. Perhaps the good reviews were during the slowest of slow move periods or their family because that is not normal. We paid for packing. Boxes were totally mislabeled. That is so small though compared to the rest. We had a window of delivery time and it was a long window. We did not have our things delivered until a week after the last date of that long window. We called. We texted. We had at least four contacts that were all slow to respond. When they finally found a crew to deliver our things, they promised to come at 8:00 am, but took another job instead and came at 4:00 pm. So then they had to come the next day. That delivery crew told us they couldn't believe how badly we had been treated by Ace Relocation and that we were "tossed around like a hacky sack." I hate to keep going but, there is more. Ace Relocation has a program to submit a delay in service form, but guess what? You need receipts for all expenses and they told us AFTER our things were delivered that if we wanted any type of reimbursement we needed to submit receipts. They had the opportunity to tell us the minute service was delayed to start saving receipts for reimbursement. They did not. read more

Right from the start when Eric Kronebusch came into provide the estimate at home - I felt they listened and delivered on my expectations. Eric gave me estimate for what I was looking for. Then when they came to pack the house and load up the truck, they were Quiet and focused - and they all knew what they were doing. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!! Ace was contracted by our international movers, Santa Fe Relocation, to move our family of 6 from Northern CA to London, UK. We were promised "door to door service." Our belongings were frantically packed up in CA by a large crew, and then disappeared! I called and emailed Santa Fe for 2 straight weeks and was completely ignored - no one picked up the phone, no one responded to my emails, and no one attempted to contact me. We never received a copy of the inventory. Our stuff arrived late in the UK and I signed off for every box. We discovered a week or so later that ALL of our power tools are missing - thousands of dollars in power tools! I contacted Santa Fe and was told that there is nothing they will do because I signed off on all the boxes. What do you do when the items ARE NOT IN THE BOXES??? This is clearly a case of theft on the packing side, and Santa Fe has essentially told me that it's my fault. "Door to door service" implies that they will be responsible for getting ALL of my belongings safely from one place to the next. When a category of items does not end up in the boxes, that is clearly the fault of the movers! I would absolutely never recommend using Ace or Santa Fe. It would have been so easy for them to apologize and make this right, but instead, they are blaming the customer. SO DISAPPOINTING. read more

Professional from the first phone call to the very last box. A somewhat complicated move with three different addresses and all went extremely well and quickly. It was an emotional move given certain circumstances, and Ace's guys were more than professional. They were kind and sympathetic, taking into account the situation and helping us make a difficult day much easier. Not only did I feel they cared for the family heirlooms they were relocating for us, but they cared for us as people. They moved quickly, yet they were cautious and careful with our belongings. These guys are great. Had a difficult move from Austin to NM. Eric Kronbusch was the coordinator. He is fantastic. Personable and always returned calls. Kept on top of the whole move from start to finish. The packing team in Austin were some of the hardest workers I have ever seen. They were a tight professional crew. Everything was expertly done. The coordination was flawless. The NM unloading crew was also great. Everything arrived in perfect condition and exactly on time as promised. The professional driver James Lowe was awesome. He has been at this for 25 years and is a true professional and a great guy. Insist on him if you can get him. Update. 10-20-11 Spoke with "Janie" at Atlas' 1-800 number for claims. She says Atlas has "no record" of the online claim I submitted in July and that she will "email Aaron and Erica at Ace Relocation" to try and figure out why the property we got that was not ours was never picked up. Janie, the "claim specialist" could neither help me with the claim I already submitted nor confirm that anyone would pick up the property delivered that was not ours...property we received nearly ONE YEAR ago! I'm surprised I can still be disgusted at this point. Update 9/12/2011 Please note that Ace Relocation Systems, Inc is part of Atlas. As of today, Sept. 12, 2011, our complaints are still ignored. I talked with an agent at Atlas about the property we received that was not ours and they said "someone will call you about picking that up." Never got a call. I tried using their online claim form as well....no response. We still have someone else's property. Atlas/ Ace are two moving companies I would stay away from! November, 2010 We've done several moves, always opting for the least expensive company and getting exactly what we paid for (poor service, lost items, etc). This time we decided we were going to go with a good company....Ace had a A+ rating with the BBB and was one of the few companies that sent an agent out to speak with us and estimate weight. Later, when we decided to pack house ourselves, he even brought by some boxes for packing pictures and wrapping paper for breakables. But once moving day arrived, the quality service stopped. Loading crew did horrible job with inventory...many boxes never got stickered and never appeared on inventory list. On arrival at new home, crew was unpleasant and uncooperative (wouldn't call out numbers to my husband so he could check boxes of list, lots of eye-rolling and sighing when we asked to have protection for the carpet, etc). As of today (20 days after items arrived) our agent has "turned us over" to the claims department (his initial helpfulness and promise to "be there every step of the way" seem a distant memory)....yet no one has called us as he promised and our requests to him for a direct contact in the claims department goes unanswered. Along with our items, we ended up with someone else's property, too, and don't know how to get it to them....Ace doesn't seem to care! We aren't looking to make a big claim...one large scratch on the armoire and a broken couch leg. But I was surprised that actually delivering someone else's property doesn't seem to illicit a response from Ace, either. "Someone will call you..." is the last I've heard from the agent. I had a great experience with Ace. I found out that I got a job 1500 miles away with only a month until my start date, so time was of the essence. Additionally, this was my first time moving across the country and I was pretty nervous about it. Within 10 minutes of submitting an online estimate, I got a call from Ace to set up a time to come evaluate my belongings. We set up the appointment for just a few days later and Eric from Ace came. He was very professional and got the estimate to me within hours. He also answered my emails late at night to move the process along. The day that the movers picked my things up they arrived on time, got everything inventoried, wrapped, and packed, and loaded it all into the truck. I didn't worry about it being on the road because they sealed the containers my boxes were in with big stickers that I signed as a "tamper proof" seal. All of my things arrived on the morning they were supposed to, in tact and not damaged at all. The movers were very professional both days. In addition to having a great experience with all of the Ace staff I worked with, the cost of my move was also very reasonable compared to other moving companies. If possible, I will choose to work with Ace again for future moves. read more

We made a move from Austin all the way to Oregon! Eric did our estimate, Gwen was our move Coordinator and Bob was our driver. Our move in general could not have been better! Moving day Bob and the crew showed up exactly on time. They carefully wrapped every single loose item, disassembled al of our large furniture and loaded ever single box with care. Since it was long distance we had a long delivery spread (date range when our belongings would reach us), and wouldn't you know our stuff showed up on the very 1st day of the date spread. We were super happy about that. I will mention, the nice thing about Ace is that our driver Bob (who was awesome) was the only person who drove our belongings from point A to point B. No handoff with your possessions. Unpacking was just as professional. We have some very expensive items, so naturally we were a bit worried. - Not ONE single item was damaged or scuffed. (Even after 2,000 miles) Everything was delivered in the same condition as it was picked up. The nice thing about Ace is that the estimate is the amount you will pay, period. Also, the amount isn't due until the items are picked up. (Which is super convenient.) Throughout the whole process there was constant communication from Eric and our move coordinator. You never feel out of the loop. If I had to move again I would choose Ace! read more

They put my stuff in storage for a couple months, then combined it with my girlfriend's stuff for a move from Austin to Cleveland. Our furniture arrived with numerous chips and gouges. Many of the packed boxes arrived bent and crushed. They broke numerous plates, glasses, and bowls. They broke the glass an expensive framed art print. They destroyed the ceramic bulb holder on a floor lamp. They broke a number of ceramic art pieces. In sum they treated my possessions like garbage. Of course when I submitted a claim they used 'packed by owner' as the excuse to avoid any responsibility except for an offer of $6 for the floor lamp. They are incompetent and take no ownership of their work. You've been warned. read more

I've moved multiple times so I tried to really do my research with this latest move from Austin to Washington, DC. I read good reviews and felt really comfortable with our consultant, Eric. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there. We had both packers and movers for our move. The packers (3 guys) showed up around 10am and it took them over 8 hours to pack up our two bedroom condo. They commented several times on "how much stuff" we had and that the estimate they were provided was not accurate. Odd, since I had actually packed about 15 or so boxes on my own, but okay. The day before our items were delivered, I received a phone call that our items would arrive between 10am and noon the next day. That morning, my husband and I checked out of our hotel in DC and made our way over to our new home with our 3 month old at 10am. I sat and waited. And waited. And waited. At 12, I called our delivery coordinator to see what was going on. An hour later, the driver called to tell me they hadn't even finished packing up the truck yet and wouldn't be to our home for at least a couple of hours. So now I've been in an empty house for almost 3 hours with a baby and they hadn't even left Maryland yet. Great. Once they arrived (around 2 pm)and started bringing our stuff in, we noticed that some of the items weren't tagged with numbers. There were also several boxes that weren't even marked. So every time a new box came in, I had to stand there with a box cutter to open the box, see what was in it, and direct them where to go. After they finished unloading, we checked the inventory list and we were missing about 15 boxes. The driver said "oh, they're probably at the delivery facility, we'll go back and look for them". Um, what? Eric assured us that our items wouldn't be mixed with anyone else's things so I'm not sure why a bunch of our items were left off the truck. Anyway, they had to come back AGAIN the next day with the remainder of our items...almost, but more on that later. Once we started unpacking, we found that the packers LITERALLY PACKED GARBAGE in our boxes. They packed the garbage from the lunch they ate the day they packed and they packed empty tape rolls. Who does that?? On top of that, boxes were marked completely incorrectly. There was one box in particular that said "pillows". I opened it, there was one pillow and the rest of the items were from the kitchen. Not even close. It was really frustrating to have to move boxes up and down 3 floors because they weren't marked correctly. Once we finished unpacking, we noticed that we were missing a rather sentimental item, a large poster-sized menu from our wedding day. We contacted Ace and filled out the necessary forms. The person in claims wouldn't get back to me and Eric would reply with "let me know if you need me to ping them". Um, yes, I do, nobody is helping me! Long story short, over FOUR WEEKS later,after I had to follow up with Eric and the claims person multiple times, we were told the item wasn't found, but don't worry, they'd send a check for $36, the estimated value of the item based on weight. Now, I know that's the insurance I chose, but just really sad that a sentimental item from my wedding day that cannot be replaced (that is HUGE, by the way, not sure how it could be "lost") was only worth $36 to them. All in all, it was a horrible move. With a brand new baby we really expected them to make this easy for us and it was a disaster. Don't be fooled up front like I was. read more

We used Ace to relocate from Austin, TX to San Francisco in the month of October. I highly recommend them. A couple of bumps at the beginning with scheduling sufficient labor for our 4,500 sq ft home in Austin. However, they quickly got ironed out. The driver Jesus was awesome with our needs and careful to make sure everything was properly cared for. What made the service excellent was our contact/sales person Eric. He was with us every step of the way ensuring we're satisfied. He understood the anxiety that comes with moving & helped us get through it. Most importantly, our things arrived safely & the destination crew rocked! The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because they put stickers on furniture & more work for us at the end. If there was a zero...that is what I would score them. This company continues to add insult to injury by removing a TRUE review from a valid customer that is being egregiously mishandled. This is now the second review that I have ever written in my entire life...the first being the review they removed. I will now be filing a BBB complaint, as well, because it is so important to me that other people are not treated the way we have been treated. If you are reading this do NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I can't repeat that enough. To repeat my review...we paid a ton of money to moved and packed by this company. My jewelry box is missing. We have damage on no less then 12 items of furniture(gouges). They packed wrappers of the candy my husband gave them in with our belongings and were careless with our items. I'm not hard to please and I am not a complainer but they have mistreated us on every level. The sad thing is....we just wanted them to make it right. Just admit you mishandled us and make it right. Anything would have made us feel better. Even empathy. Asha is absolutely horrible...I can't believe that actually feel sad writing this. DO NOT USE THEM...Don't! Please...no one deserves to be treated this way. We are in the retail business and anyone that treated one of our customers this way would not be with us long. Period. read more

After what appeared to be a smooth + professional moving experience at origin + destination, discovered 2 boxes that had been sliced open. Stolen from boxes were a family heirloom quilt + additional blanket + tax filings paperwork. Not only upset over loss of lovely quilt, but now extremely worried about identity theft. What are these thugs doing with my tax filings paperwork??? After removal of contents, boxes were cleverly cut down to appear square + tight, then re-taped with cheap brown tape over my white tape. Which thug had that amount of time inside of truck without supervision??? It happened to be my birthday on moving day. "Friendly," "professional," "honest" movers happily sang "Happy Birthday"...all the while stealing valuables + important paperwork behind my back! I've provided Orange County Sheriff Department all the information they need to investigate owner/operator of the truck. read more

I really liked my initial contact at Ace-Relocation- and read some good reviews here and on google- but when the time came, I was pretty shocked at how little respect my stuff got on both ends (different people). I didn't expect my stuff to be handled with kid gloves- but then, I didn't expect them to literally toss my boxes, drop them off the truck or in the case of at least two boxes clearly marked fragile- drop them from a height of over six feet, while I was watching, without so much as an "oops". Mistakes happen... and I understand that this is a hard job and one that they want to complete as quickly as possible- but my stuff was treated like garbage. It was weird and certainly not my experience with other movers. No effort was made in either the destination or the origin to protect the house or the floors- which surprised me. And when I asked them to reassemble furniture (which I had paid to be reassembled) they were kind of sniffy about it. I was just unimpressed- and I also have a lot of broken stuff which makes me sad. :( I also found it very hard to get in touch with Carla (my contact) who whenever I did actually reach her, she was kind of horrible. Several of my pieces were not tagged (though i found them!)- and they tried to give me some stuff that wasn't mine (not reassuring). read more

Our experience was unfortunately not optimal. Based on our experience Atlas is in need of logistic operation process improvement. Our trailer arrived in the correct destination city, but was delivered to an unknown atlas van transfer facility. On the day our goods were to arrive at the destination address, the destination agent was searching for the trailer, which was located. Our goods arrived a day later than the delivery spread. What disturbed us was how do you "miss place" a van line trailer? Wow. Secondly we had several items damaged, ie, a refrigerator, washer, dryer, grill, patio furniture, and interior furniture. Yes, we have filed a claim. I choose Atlas as I truly believed my belongs would be treated with care. Unfortunately, this was not the case for us. We paid top dollar for this confidence only to be very disappointed in the packing of our goods. Honestly I wish I could give them a five star rating, but based on our experience I can not recommend this van line. read more
